T-Mobile Tech Assist App - HTC Sensation

Have you guys noticed this great new feature?
It allows T-Mobile customer Support to gain entry to your device with a "per call specific code" that the agent creates when you call and is changed every time you call back in and is good for one use only.
Only when you enter the code can the agent then gain access to your HTC device during trouble shooting and make the needed changes to the device, software etc.

This was created for user who mostly are not tech savvy and to allow tech support to better validate issues by being able to see your actual screen and see what you are talking about issue wise.
There is also a new option when you dial 611 with an automated voice response that comes through the loud speaker and offers you help and shows you what you can do from your device w/o calling Customer Care but if need be you can decline and you will be thrown into the call center instantly. Check the vid below.

Do the European versions have anything similar to this?
Has anyone here actually gotten to use the Tech Assist application yet? How was your experience?

i have t-mobile, but I see this the first time.
Is this really necessary?

I personally think so...They give you an option...It makes everything easier when trying to convince someone over the phone that you have an issue but you can't really explain it. and some people can't follow hard reset directions well or do anything honestly...So i think it has its place.

I did see that but the reps I spoke with was aware I was pretty well versed in phone tech so they didn't need to do this "pc anywhere" like application. LOL this is the type of app that I have for work as well when they need to install apps or troubleshoot real quick.
I think its worth it to have this. Our phones have come a long way since the star tac days so I do like the app. I may never use it (*knocks on wood*) but great to know its there.

I really wish they kept in an option to disable that program when you call 611 like there is on the HD2

ok cool. Never knew that.
But to the other guys..It is Logmein...I saw the process in the sense task killer.

I never bothered to update MyAccount before and I just ran into this app on my replacement unit after it installed automatically with everything else. Go to call 611 and it's hijacked by tech assist. No problem. Select the option to call customer service and the call goes to some other 5 or 6 digit number and ends with a not in service message. Can't see any option to disable the intercept. Every time I try it ends the same way. Uninstalled the update and calling 611 works fine. Customer Support rep said he heard of it happening with someone else.
If I was going to be keeping this second phone I'd wipe myaccount off the device entirely.

What is this annoying sound??
Whenever I talk with someone there is background noise that is similar to the GSM buzz heard when you have your cell phone too close to a TV or something.
Its very annoying. This also happens when I use EDGE (and possibly 3G). Is it just me, or is there a fix?
(By the way, I searched and all I found were people having a clicking sound before the speaker turns on)
Thanks in advance
come on someone has to have a fix.
is it only me?
it seems like its coming from the speaker in the back
I dont even use my phone without one

[Q] Mask your OS with Social Networking

So this is pretty random and I've done some searches and can't seem to find anything, probably because no one would care enough to do something like this besides me.
The problem: I'm a MS consultant and am tired of hearing **** from my WP7 friends and colleagues.
The ask: Is there a way to mask/disguise/FAKE the OS I have when working with social networking sites? Primarily Facebook for now, you know the "sent via Windows Phone" or "posted by HTC Sense", "Android", etc.
Anyone know how to change/hack/tweek that without changing phones/OS's entirely?
You could just post from their mobile sites and it will say posted from _____ mobile. You can also post from the main site from your phone and it's like posting from your computer.
I know this isn't really what you asked at all, but it will help with your issue.

Caring about being made fun of by windows fanboys for using a linux based phone to me is like caring about being made fun of because you dont huff fumes from an aerosol can. Always annoys me that some group or person can be so blinded to see that there is more than one alternative that works for people and it doesnt always come from the same source
Some applications let you remove that signature or set what it says. However, the easiest solution would be not to use the application and use the browser in the site. If they dont let you set it, then you have to modify the apk or modify the build.conf file in /system (which may or may not mess things up for other applications that depend on that). It's most likely picking up the make/model from that.
If it bothers you that much, you probably need new friends and ignore the coworkers you have to see regardless. Your current ones suck and have drank the koolaid.
Your problem also reminded me of the following penny arcade comic (ignore the phones in question, just the general overtone of the comic is what is related):

I guess I should have clarified. I'd love nothing more than my posts to start saying Windows Phone and seeing their false appreciation and excitement only to see me still rocking my TB with CM once I actually see them.
Was just a question, thought maybe someone else might have had some hack to alter it somehow.

Ah okay, you just want to one up them in a slightly smartass way . Generally as mentioned, it's just a setting in apps you can change, at least for things like email clients, but you probably looked in whatever you are using already.

Yeah, primarily it's the Android Facebook app for statuses and photo uploading. I wouldn't have the slightest idea on where to start in tweeking anything in it. Naturally I think the settings in the app wouldn't allow me to change that.

Samsung "Enhanced Features" popup driving me mad!

I don't know what updated today, but now I can't do anything without this dialogue popping up. If I click "Decline", it will just popup again within seconds no matter which app I'm in. It'll pop up when I'm doing anything, but if I wanted to force it to pop up to show you, all I would have to do is take a picture, and it will pop up either while I'm trying to take it, or just after. This made me think it was the camera, but I can be in iHeartRadio and it will pop up.
I know it's Samsung specific because it mentions "Samsung" in the Terms and Conditions, but it doesn't mention that app or service it pertains to. It is the worst ever, and I don't want to Accept it just to make it go away.
Any ideas on a solution?

Thanks. I even searched here for both threads and posts with "enhanced features" and nothing came up. I didn't search the Edge section, though.
For those that don't go to that link, this is the solution they give:
All you have to do is check the box agreeing to the terms and conditions, and then tap the agree button. Yes, this means you’ve just opted into the service. Then, however, you can open the Contacts app and tap on your own profile, which will appear at the top of the list.
Now, simply tap on Profile sharing and slide the toggle to off and you’ll disable the new enhanced features.
Click to collapse
The only problem is, I followed the directions, and after trying to turn Profile Sharing off, I got a spinning circle that finally ended with Profile Sharing back on. If this happened within my 14day BestBuy return period, I'd be heading in to exchange this for an iPhone 6+. This is not good, Samsung.
android police posted work around
Per Android Police there is a work around for the issue.
The popup is for the "Enhanced Features" component that includes Simple Sharing. This feature lets you push large files and profile information to your contacts. A lot of people probably just agree the first time it appears, but the fine print is clear that agreeing means your phone number, messages, and contacts will be collected by Samsung. - per android police there is a work around to stop it. -androidpolice.com/2015/05/11/some-galaxy-s6-owners-are-being-plagued-by-a-samsung-popup-that-reappears-every-few-minutes/

[Q] Your advice/help with a sticker on box stating "ME and AFRICA ONLY"

Hi guys.
Will appreciate your help on this - don't want to be scammed.
Being offered a new condition, open box, S6 EDGE for a good deal, but box says following.
Not me nor seller (seems honest) have a clue!
I specifically need the F version (which this is) since I spend some time in the states and some time in europe.
Please your advice?
THANK YOU!!!!

Most phones in Samsung's Galaxy line come with a so-called "region lock". In this case, it means the phone can only be used with a SIM card from the ME-region. However, these region locks are not permanent. If the phone has already been used with an ME SIM at some point, and has had at least one phone conversation for a duration longer than 5 minutes, the lock is automatically removed (it is mainly there as a measure to prevent grey-imports). Though, if the phone has previously never been used, there is a risk you might not be able to activate it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/s6-s6-egde-regional-lock-t3076604/
I really appreciate your response. Very helpful and complete. Thank you!
Can't this be overcome via ADB? Some sort of a trick? This is XDA after all
I am actually even more perplexed now. By ME you mean Middle-East?
Phone was never used before according to seller. Claims he's the one who opened the box.
So basically the conclusion is that I should avoid this device? This phone cannot be activated in US? Can only be activated in the Middle East then? What constitutes ME though? I travel all the time so I actually might pull this off. Is there like a list of countries?
Why do they complicate the hell out of everything?!
Yes, unfortunately, if the phone has never been used before, you would actually need to insert a SIM from an ME (Middle-East) carrier and make a call to "unlock" it. If not, the phone will simply reject your SIM. From what I've read, this is supposedly to stop "foreign resellers", though many of these can now unlock the phone on request before shipping =/

Sadly, it seems to be embedded into the SoC firmware, so there's no trivial workaround for it as I know of.
Thank you once again. Do you happen to know what countries are considered ME? I know this definition varies.
Hm, can't seem to find a formal list on Samsung's site, but I would guess all countries listed under ME (http://www.samsung.com/countries), plus those under "Africa" redirecting to Samsung NA/EG (Morocco, Tunisia, Algiers, Libya & Egypt), as the phone should accept SIM cards from NA carriers as well.
Phenomenal link! Thank you. Quite helpful actually since their definition is somewhat different than what one might think.
If there's no way around this while in Europe or US, I think it's a no-deal ):
Too bad, I was offered a really good price on it. Bummer.
There's always a chance you could get an ME SIM somewhere online though. That said, there's no guarantee it will actually activate the phone when not connected to the carrier's own network. Might indeed be best to skip this deal, just to be on the safe side
Indeed.
I was thinking to myself - "what? Pshh, no problem, i'll XDA this in no time, easy peasy".

As long as you don't select the option to allow Google to unlock your phone with your voice, this isn't an issue, nor is it's LG's problem.

Exactly. This is a google issue.
This thread is so misleading, and so is the video. This can be done on all phones with the Google app on it. The setting has been there for a while. OP should at least make an edit to topic/post and/or switch the video into a PSA of sorts. Advice people on how the setting works and to give best practices like training their voice.

no doubt, trust zones keep my phone unlocked when at my home. keeps it unlock when it detects it is still on my person and hasn't changed hands, and many other trusted things you can set. turn these off and I bet he has a harder time unlocking
lol a joke.. without trusted voice my phone tells me it cannot be completed while device is locked..
ppl just never learn lol not a bypass at all
So if there's any confusion, it only works with what Google detects as your voice. I tested with multiple family members, and only one got it.
But he's my identical twin and our voices are almost the same.
Can someone else try having their SO or a buddy try to get in? Pretty sure they won't.
