[Q] SMS/Text not working on the Infuse - Samsung Infuse 4G

I think I know what the problem is, but I want to make double sure before I go to the AT&T store.
I recently changed over to the Infused 1.5 ROM and during the process had to take out the SIM Card due to a small issue I had. Did this about 3 days ago and phone, data, and email have been working fine.
Last night, I thought it was odd that I was not receiving text messages and asked one of my friends to try to text. Did not get anything, so I tried texting him. Still nothing. So I decided to try it in my Blackberry to see if I can text, and I still could not receive or send texts despite being able to before on this phone.
From what I have read, some people have had issues if the new batch of SIM cards gets scratched, so I am planning on going to the AT&T store to exchange the SIM card and have them test text messaging. Anyone else had any similar issues?

message center number
See if Your message center number was wiped when you installed new ROM. go to Messaging/Settings/Message Center....
If there is no number, Insert this +1 312 314 9810,
This is the message center number for ALL AT&T SIM cards.
Hope this helped.

Similar Problem- Unable to send SMS from Beanstalk Rom 4.4+
Hi,
I am getting a similar problem and I am unable to send sms from my infuse, though I am able to receive SMS. I am using a Beanstalk ROM 4.4.240-20140203.
Model No: SGH-I997
Baseband Version: I997UCLB3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I997UCLB3-CL977492-g1bc7cfe
I think the problem is that the Message Center number is not properly set in the settings, but the problem is that I am unable to find the settings to change the message center.
I have searched for the option to change the Message Center by clicking on settings of messaging app but though there are many options to change the viewing settings of SMSes but there is no option to change the SMS Center number.
I would be greatly thankful for directing me in the correct direction

argh! Can't send text messages

I'm on Orange (UK) and 2 days ago I lost the ability to text one number. I tried deleting the queue of unsent messages and reset the settings within the messaging app. This didn't help and I now can't send any SMS at all, they instantly fail. Annoyingly, they work fine with my T-Mobile Sim. I've tried updating the message centre number with the one given by Orange but it's not worked. I've now done a full wipe and reflashed my ROM and I still can't send messages. Everything else works fine.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Is it something on the carrier side.... Seems to me if it works fine with another sim then it's either a problem with the carrier or maybe you have the wrong apn settings.... But i am not sure that effects text messages
Also this might be a dumb suggestion but maybe try downloading a third party messaging client like chomp

Thanks for the reply, I agree that it's likely to be a network issue, I was just hoping to avoid a long call to customer service!
EDIT: I got them to send me the settings via SMS and everything's back to normal again. Phew!

[Q] SMS Scrambling?

Hi everyone,
I need some help and I'm just hoping someone on here experienced this before and found a fix. When sending long SMS messages the recipient sometimes receives the message jumbled/garbled/mixed up with another old text that has been sent to them weeks or months ago. So it usually has the first half of the message I send them as the correct text, and then the second half is "pasted in randomly" from an old message.
Hope that makes sense. I have T-Mobile service and I'm using a t999 variant of the galaxy s3 rooted and running a stock ROM.
It still happens even after deleting all my messages. It happens on both the stock messaging app and gosms, so it's not an app specific issue. It also happened before I rooted my phone and after. This same thing even happened on my previous phone, the HTC G2. Also, sometimes the old messages were sent on a previous handset (the G2) & with a previous SIM (same number but got a new microSIM with the S3), so no idea where it had got the old message text from.
Any ideas why this might be happening and what I could do to fix it? My current fix is using gosms and having it split up the messages every 160 characters so it doesn't have the chance to happen. Otherwise if I'm not using gosms I have to stop on my own and start a new text when I run out of characters. It works but gets very annoying.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] problem with messaging! help needed!

I posted some weeks ago about messages not being received, it only happens every couple of days my phone won't receive texts, but I can send no problem, and everything else works fine, I started happening when I downloaded a game, I backtrack and deleted it but messages still not being received, the only way I can start receiving messages again is to put my sim in a phone I dont use anymore and that phone receives them, then i can put it back in my phone and it works again i've done a factory rest but same results, even reflashed the original ICS stock rom same thing, even called serviice provider AT&T no help there.what can I do to make this work I have the galaxy tab 7.7 p6800 model. In America if that's helps, can or do I need another rom/ version of ICS thanks!
hmm, ur messages are only not being received?.. sending is fine? well I once had an issue like that but I solved it by somehow re-entering the mobile provider apn values under settings - mobile nnetworks, but I'm sure ur provider may have suggested that. Something u cld try is to see if another sim card works or not, different provider if possible.. if it does then ur issue is with the provider or the apn values and not ur gsm modem..

thanks
Thanks will try that.

[Q] Why doesn't anyone receive my text messages?

Hey everyone,
ever since I updated from Android Kitkat to the L preview and the final release of Lollipop, I've had an issue with text messaging. I use the google hangouts app to send my text messages, I've verified my number within the Hangouts app and I've also selected it as my default messaging app. So the problem is: whenever I send a text message, the app says it's been sent through sms and money from my prepaid is taken as well, so I know it was actually processed by my carrier. But for some inexplicable reason, no one I text actually receives the message. I've tried to use an alternative app like tetra and the new stock messaging app from google with the same result. I haven't got a clue what could cause this, but because it occured after the update, I'm guessing it could be on the software side.
So has anyone experienced this and knows how to fix this? All answers are appreciated.
(I've a Dutch carrier, Vodafone)
*edit: Calling works fine.
**edit: fix: Make sure the APN of the hangouts app is the same as your phone's, apparently this may differ which causes complications
***edit: it didn't fix it, reverting to 4.4.4 did

I would like to add something new, it is very strange. I swapped my sim card with another person's sim card who also happens to own a nexus 5. When the sim cards were swapped, we were both able to send each other text messages from both phones and sim cards. But the moment I put my sim card back in my phone and sent a message, the other person didn't receive it. It seems like it isn't the phone's fault neither the sim card, but yet it is. I'm extremely confused.

I do own an ipod which had imessage. It wasn't linked to a phone number but it was linked to the same email as my hangouts. However, my sms has worked fine for months on my nexus 5 and I didn't switch to an iphone at any given moment.

Ah I fixed it! Apparently the APN from my phone's settings can differ from the APN of the hangouts app. By default it was onpda.stm.sk.ca instead of live.vodafone.com, I don't know why or how this is possible. Just glad it's fixed, thanks for the help anyway!
They may have blocked you
Alright I found out what the definitive problem is: Android 5.0
When I reverted to stock 4.4.4 I had NO issues whatsoever. But with the L preview and the official release I did have problems. I also tried to update from the stock 4.4.4 to 5.0 but I still couldn't text. Anway I hope it's just a carrier incompatibility thing that will soon be fixed.
If anyone knows how android 5.0 can impact and or can come up with a way to fix this manually, please let me know!
Additional update, I've contacted my Dutch carrier (Vodafone), and they informed me that they will look into it before the OTA update is released.

Nope it wasn't, it seemed lik a fix because I was able to send a message to 1 person but to no one else. So as I said, I'm back on Kitkat which is actually a permanent fix. I've contacted Vodafone about this issue and they said they will resolve it before the OTA comes out. But I can safely presume that you have the same issue? Let me know!
(My apn is exactly the same as here http://forum.portablegear.nl/mobiel-internet-instellingen-vodafone-apn-t7.html)
Thanks. Yes I'm having the same issue. Also tried those APN settings, but it didn't help.
Well I'm not sure weather it works.. Just give a try
In the settings->apps->Hangouts->uninstall updates
and then try sending some messages ...
if that does not then update the app from the playstore again and then try sending...
If still the problem persists then it is your SIM card problem try PORT or alternate SIM CARD .
Have you tried talking to your phone provider? Might be something on their end.
No it is Lollipop + Hangouts. There is a bug in the way it handles non-US texts. Watch the outgoing number and if it changes to +xx where xx is the country code then that is where your problem is. Google Lollipop country code and you should find some info.
It is also the same reason that I can't SMS short codes from Hangouts using Google Voice because it adds a +1. Hangouts on the PC or the GV app work just fine.

US factory Unlocked Galaxy s7 edge SMS "not sent" error. Help!

I bought a brand new s7 edge, USA unlocked version (no carrier specific) and activated it on PP. I had to buy a Pp nano SIM as my previous phone, a verizon S5 , used a micro sim.
Activation went smoothly. My phone rebooted and "programmed" the SIM and I was immediately able to make calls, use data, and send and receive messages.
Then a few hours later, when sending SMS texts, my phone would get stuck sending texts, then after a few minutes report that the message could not be sent. I could retry over and over and it keeps failing.
Now for the strange parts..
1. The recipient is actually getting my texts despite my phone reporting it wasn't sent.
2. Sms works normal if I am on a call when I hit SEND.
3. Mms works normal in all situations.
So I have tried many things.. restoring to defaults, clearing system cache, resetting phone to factory defaults in bootloader.. Turning 4g data off, turning wifi off, and pretty much anything else you might find a on google search. .nothing solves it. I spent hours on PP support calls who had me do everything again, they reset / reprovisioned my sim which made it activate again.. still nothing.
It's driving me crazy getting 100 failed message errors a day.
I am thinking next I may try getting a new Sim.
Another option might be setting up a SIP caller app to use for messaging, like Csipsimple, but I'm not sure what settings to enter for pageplus, or if they even support SIP text & calls.
Please help! Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hello,
try clearing the data of the sms app
or else try another app from play store to see if the problem is from the buildin app
Thank you for the reply. I forgot to mention that yes I have tried that as well. I have cleared the SMS data several times and tried a couple different SMS apps like Google messages, Facebook Messenger, and a few others. They all have the issue.

Thanks! I think you are right about the root of the problem. However the solution may not be so simple for me. The command *#*#INFO#*#* does nothing on my phone. I'm trying to find another way to edit that setting but having trouble. I'll keep searching but it sounds like a new SIM car might also solve it?
First take out your sim and check if its OK my friend asked me about an exact same issue with a note 3, I told them to take out the sim and try another one, we came to know that the sim was damaged by a way or another

Thanks, I'm happy to order another SIM, however one thing that confuses me is how would the SMS go through fine when I'm on a phone call? If the message center number or sim were corrupted shouldn't it fail on a call as well?
Hello again, a corrupted SIM will surely cause both messaging and calling issues, i may recommend to test another SIM to check if the problem still exist, it yes, then it's from the SIM
and no, the message center isn't related to calls

Or how about rooting my phone to try to hack the message center number or maybe the SIM card ?

No it did not happen after any update, and no premium messaging of any kind.
Again the message does get to the recipient, its just my phone giving me the false error that it wasn't sent.

Try turning both WiFi and mobile data and trying to send
------
1.Install Handcent SMS
2. go to send message settings > delivery report
3. Here you can delete undelivered conversations and end your "messages not sent"
This app seems to work also.
----
Also check your network signal
---
Do another factory reset and try handcent again

Have done all of the above, still not working .. haaaalpp
With Handcent I can set it to not vibrate or set off my message notification sound on failed messages, which helps.. but I still get the popups saying it failed.
Again I have to stress that messaging works fine when I'm on a call, where mobile data is not available.. but if I disable mobile data while not on call, it still fails to send. Surely this must suggest a possible solution, although I am not adept enough in Android to say what that is..
Hello,
Message app > settings > more settings
can you capture what do you got there ?
