Sane here. I live in Missouri City but I never got a DL speed over 6mb/s.

I'm in houston and my data keeps f-ing up, the up arrow gets struck at times and nothing goes trough, and I'm siting right under a tmo tower. I'm by the beltway and clay.
G2X
I'm in Los Angeles in the heart of 4g coverage and my speeds are pathetic. Typical is 2mb down, 1mb up. You know there's a problem when my wifes iCrap 4 gets better data speeds on 3g
I would get 3G here at home when I had my Nexus One. Now that I have the G2X, I get 2G. How's that possible? lol.
yep Tmobile 4G isn't that good and drops in many locations, until they get more towers and better signal, you can solve the problem and save battery life by setting to only 2G when you can't get good 4G and use Opera Mini to browse. It's the best browser for 2G speeds and saves you data usage and battery!
Again until Tmobile builds up their 4G network to get stronger signals, the solution is Opera Mini....
EDIT: or Opera Mobile if you want flashvideos, don't forget to set it to turbo mode...

In Opera MOBILE in the settings click turbo mode. I believe that should let them render the web pages on their server for Opera mobile, not mini, mini is already rendered server side.
Doing that saves you data and speeds up your browsing on slow connections...
where in houston are you i go everywhere in houston from 290 barker cypress area to downtown and anywhere in between i never get speeds like that... usually around 5mb or so

The highest I get is around 8mb/sec in the Los Angeles and Orange Country areas.
Why am I seeing speeds faster than my Comcast internet in Boston? lol.
Fastest I had so far in the Reliant Stadium area.
Are all these speeds with cm7?? Cm7 has a hack to double data speeds.

Pardon my bluntness, but a number is just a number with no real meaning without a reference. I was taught in tech school to ask “What is the reference?” To answer your question, I live outside Phoenix, AZ and I am getting EDGE speed of around 12KB/Sec. I am out in the desert 20 miles from the closest small town. What is odd is I get better download speed here than I get in the two closest towns. In Maricopa and Casa Grande I get 5KB/Sec down and 2KB/Sec up.
Richmond, Virginia ive seen it hit 12mbps. Then again we have all the secksy here connection wise.

Down kicks a$$.. Up is a bit slow.. Latency/ping is what counts to me.. And 60~80 kills any other carrier... my sprint evo was 3 to 4mb down... But with 200 to 300 latency everything seemed to be the opposite of snappy....

My 3G speed is usually around 500 - 900kbps down and 300 - 600kbps up depending on the area. My 4G/WiMAX is usually above 10 - 12mbit down and 1.5mbit up.
Nick, I'd say your speeds are kinda bad. The speeds I got in my test are much lower than what I'm used to getting. I'm typically in the area of about 1.2 megs down.
Oh, and you guys who get 4G coverage, I hate you.
I know how you feel about 4g I use to have it until I moved for college. :/.....but is there any way to speed up my 3g other than changing my http proxy port to 0 and http proxy address to 0.0.0.0 because I have already done that.

Usually my uploads are a little better but coverage is iffy since I am in the basement of my work. Sprint has installed some sort of booster down here which is why I am able to get coverage at all and is the only carrier I could use down here. The speeds/connection quality are similar if I go upstairs out the dungeon as well.
How does the signal work when in dbm mode? I'm getting -86 right now and I don't know if that's good or bad lol
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
It starts from 0 to 100+, the lower the number the closer and better signal u have to the tower, now since towers are so high in the sky the 70-90 is the average so u got good signal, but it took me forever to learn that lmao
Here a test put wifi in the dbm an set it right on top of your wifi modem an it should read like 0 to 10
-baric
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
dbm , it's somewhere bewteen -50 to -150 , if you are right beside a cell-tower , you should get -50 or -51 dbm , which means is strogest.
usually for me , at my room which is 3,4 walls to street , only get -100 dbm for 3G signal and about -80 dbm for 2G signal. and outside of home , inside downtown is about -70 dbm for 3G
take look at your status bar, signal bar , it will tell you signal is good or not.
Its sitting at -76 now. I'm wondering because my 3g speeds are ****. Its weird. It feels like the towers are under maintenance everyday or something. One day ill get 200-300kb/s and then on days like today I can't even break 80-90kb/s. I just tried flashing the ke5 radio over ke1 and my signal has been sitting put at -76. I expect better speeds if my signal is this good. am I wrong?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
yeah... that sounds odd.
right now while i am typing my phone has -93 dbm signal.
your signal is pretty good , i don't know
you should consult with your carrier.
but today i have downloaded something in phone while i was wlaking in street , speed was 20+ kb/s
anyway , even that slow , it is enough for E-mail check or online chat like MSN or web pages.
I'm at -75 and got 5 Mbps though that is via a femtocell ie a base station in my house. you should get decent speeds.contact your carrier

Those numbers in Atlanta are ridiculous! I'm so jealous right now. My WiFi is oftentimes lower than my darn data connection. It's such a joke. In Ocean City, Md. this weekend I got 0.06Mbps down, 0.01Mbps up, and 2904 ping (I can provide pictures if you don't believe me). That's literally with the 4G symbol and full bars. My girlfriend's iPhone 4S was hitting 2Mbps down (and that's 3G), and a friend's Bionic managed like 10Mbps down. T-Mobile was killing me; I essentially couldn't use my data all weekend and there was no WiFi.
ok, i'm in southern California and averaging around 3MBPS down. what radio should i flash? TMOUS, ICS, ARHD.
thanks!
and thats all we ever need folks. For me anyway, lol. I don't need 18mbps or more or whatever LTE is. 5mbps is fast enough for a mobile device. even 1.5mbps... that's just me talking though. haha
