You'll need to have an unlock code. This you can buy online for about 35 bucks
Then you insert a foreign sim card and enter the unlock code.

you can download a nv_data.bin code finder from the Galaxy S i9000 Section, it will work though!

Wait, i thought Nexus S is an unlocked phone out of the box? Mine is.
What carrier do you have and from what country?

Sim unlock for Rogers Nexus S
Ok I am trying to figure out where I can get my hands on a free SIM unlock code for my Nexus S currently on the Rogers network.
Anyone have any ideas or advice that would point me in the right direction really not in the mood to pay for it. Figure I would be able to do it myself some how.
Thanks

[Q] AT&T Captivate for use in EUROPE?

Hi folks
I´m new in android and want to ask if it´s possible to use a AT&T Captivate in Europe (e.g. Germany) after unlock with e.g. vodafone?
Read some threads with rooting and flash I9000 ROMs but not shure if there is way to use this phone in our local (german) network with non att sim card without any problems
Is there a CAPTIVATE ROM available with correct settings to use OUTSIDE the US?
Sorry for my noobness....
As of right now AT&T will not hand out unlock codes to sim-unlock the handset, so you'd be unable to use it with a non-AT&T sim.

sure? saw some offered on ebay UNLOCKED so i guess there is a way outside att...
@all: any proved links to unlook or user that have experience with it?
There is a thread in captivate general about sim unlocking. The ebay sellers were not able to unlock the phones and only a few lucky ones have been able to get unlock codes out of at&t by complaining. There is some sort of turbo sim device a couple of them are using though.

Could you give me more details about that "turbo sim device" theme?

How to enter subsidy unlock code on G2x without an unsupported sim?

Hello, I got an unlock code for my g2x through tmobile, and the instructions say to boot it up with a non-Tmobile sim inserted. Does anyone know how to get to unlock input screen without a non-Tmobile sim available? thank you for your time.
(I read some people advised to dial #073887* to bring up the screen, but no luck. I guess this is for att phone only?)
I can't remember off hand but a google search can find it, it is same process as the O2x. However when I tried to enter my unlock code with the T-Mobile SIM in it, it didn't work. I needed a non T-Mobile SIM for it to work.

Try this method
http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-unlock-the-lg-optimus-gt540.html
it worked with my Optimus T and I am sure it will work with G2x as well (but I have to wait for a couple of months for free unlocked code from T-Mobile).
note:
you MUST input from dialer
2945#*999#
while #*999# is G2x model number (P999)
do have have to replace "540" to "999"? I think i just going to ask someone to let me an att simcard (All my family and friends are using tmobile/sprint....it's hard to get an att simcard for me....*sigh*)

Yes, you MUST use 999 instead of 540 because #*xxx# is your phone model.

Check for sim unlock

How do I get the One x to display the screen where it asks to enter sim unlock code?
I know you can do this by inserting a non provisioned Sim but what if I don't have one and want to get to that screen
There is no any other way I suppose..
How did you get the unlock code ??

just find a friend with a sim from another provider.
I just bought an unlock code.
I know you can enter it on previous HTC model.
I don't currently know anyone with a mini sim who is on another network.
why did you unlock it if you dont need to lol
I always unlock my phone. It's cheap and when I sell it raises the price.
Most likely, I will only have this phone for another month or two at the longest.

Check with them, if its successful let us know the result ?
go to t-mobile and ask for a micro-sim.
if you're nice the guy might just give you an unactivated one.
where'd you get your code from? let us know if it works!

which website to carrier unlock LG p925g?

Hey everyone,
A friend from canada just gave me his old p925g phone that is locked on rogers and I've been looking online but there doesn't seem to be a free way to sim unlock this phone. Many people seem to have had some success unlocking this phone through some websites by paying and I was wondering if you guys could share which website you used?
There are many websites just by googling this, but I've never used this kind of service and I'm quite sure many websites are scams so I was hoping someone here could confirm a successful unlock with the name of the service used.
Thanks!

There was a cheaper service but couldn't find.
@arsen4oo
Thanks for the link, cheaper then $1.99?? this price is already good for me!
Have you personally used this? How did it go? you bought this and then they sent you a letter to your home with the unlock code?
I'll look for the link and post it, I already tried a Site and it took no more than 5mins to receive the code via email.

I still have one more question, I saw this on the website: "You will also need a sim card from the network that are currently mobile phone is working. Sim card will be needed when you will entering unlock code to Your phone."
Did you use it to unlock? I'm in France and I don't have the sim card. My friend cancelled his plan at rogers and now lives in japan so there's no way to get the sim card.
Well what it means is that you need a sim that actually works when inserting the code. I used the sim that worked typed the code then my phone was ready to accept any sim card.

well... it seems like i wont be able to unlock it then, being in france its gonna be hard to find anyone that has a rogers sim card...
thanx for the help!

@longlife_01
You don't need Rogers sim card to unlock Rogers phone when inserting the code. You're supposed to use non-Rogers sim to get that locked screen to insert the code. And I don't think you need a working sim to unlock, as long as not a Rogers sim. I used one my old overseas sim from asia trip to unlocked my rogers phone

I just bought an unlock code I'll need during a trip for $9. Can't get much better than that. (haven't tested it yet)
It could be months before someone releases a free method.

Who did you buy the unlock code from? Thanks

Edit:
First person fell through and refunded.
Ended up getting one from Ebay for $12. Confirmed code working now.
Depending on your carrier, the prices may differ.

Where did you buy it? Can you tell me? I want to buy too..
If you're up for it, flashing Metro pcs firmware onto Tmobile variant is said to work. When unlocked, you can flash back onto the Tmobile firmware. I'm not brave enough to try...I have 14 days left so I can unlock

Just do a search on Ebay for..
"Galaxy S6 unlock code" and your carrier
The auction was for my carrier.
You'll have to find yours.
you need to flash it to metropcs firmware, then request the unlockcode, i use cellunlocker.net, use all usa carriers because if you request for t-mobile it going to say not elegible to unlock. once you got the code, follow this:
1: power off your device
2: put a non accepted sim
3: turn on your device
4: put it the unlock code
once you got unlocked don't flash again to t-mobile because it gonna blocked again.
hope this help you.
Yesterday I unlocked my phone using network unlock code. I got it from Getunlocked.com. Their service is fast and they provide me the unlock code and unfreeze code. Before approaching them I tried two different providers but they couldnt able to find out the unlock code for me.
The process is simple
1. Put a new sim Card
2. Switch on the phone
3. It will ask you for network unlock code
Enter network unlock code
4. Will give you a message network unlock successful
* If that doesnt work then you may need unfreeze code
1) Restart the phone with the new SIM Card inserted
2) You should be prompted for an unlock code
3) Enter this DEFREEZE code: xxxxxxxx and press unlock
4) The phone will display “Network Unlock Request Unsuccessful”
5) Enter the NETWORK Code: XXXXXXXX and press unlock
6) Phone should display “Network Unlock Successful”
