Your phone is, unfortunately, likely broken with a hardware failure. Nothing to do with being rooted.

i know its not from being rooted, but i need to unroot it before i send it back to att

wireless
maybe connect to a pc via bluetooth or wireless.

Noone checks to see if rooted. Kill the battery and exchange

Have you tried a different USB cable to see if that is the cause?

Get Root explorer from the market or any app that can delete systems app. With root explore go to system/apps/ and delete superuser. Or get SGS tools.

that was the first thing i tried, the superuser icon still appears.

Does it still charge & just doesnt connect to computer or nothing at all?

its doesnt charge or connect

Is ur phone dead by now? You may be able to charge your battery out of the phone? Anyway I'd figure out a way to hide the super user icon, there has to be a way to do that. I doubt anyone would go beyond looking for superuser to determine rooted or not

I have returned at least 3 different rooted Android phones at the AT&T store and no one there cares. Just take it back and tell them it does not charge. The people at the retail store are not power users, they can barely tell you the difference between Android and IOS, do you think they know what Superuser means?

Factory reset? Make sure you do a titanium backup and put it on your external.

Hmm.... I thought maybe it'd do the trick. Oh, can't you just go into the app manager and delete it from there? But that'd just be the superuser apk.

the only thing i can think of is maybe using sgs kernel flasher to flash a stock Kernel.....but even that may not break root. u would need a Flashable Zip of the Stock Rom....i can swear i saw that on here some where
I don't know if this would work but maybe use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193927&highlight=uxkg3 to get to stock, use the CWM version.
Then maybe this to unroot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193927&highlight=uxkg3.
I just want to say I have not tried this myself so its up to you!

windows not recognizing phone

Ok so I'm not sure what happened here, but my laptop wont recognize my phone. I have windows 7 and the phone is currently running octane. I originally had used odin to set the phone up with the proper boot loaders a while back then used cwm to flash ravers octane. I wanted to go back to stock using the official kj6 that raver posted through odin. When ever i hook the phone in to the laptop it says usb device not recognized. Any ideas or ways to fix this? I tried uninstalling and installing the sgs4g drivers again with no luck.
shut off..when u go into dl mode Odin should get it..don't worry about it while it's on...I did that for an hour last week...with octane

odin still isn't catching it

Download and install Kies Mini
So I just went ahead and downloaded the cwm ver that raver posted. moved it to root folder of sd card and flashed that copy instead. Even now that i'm stock the laptop won't recognize my phone so weird. Any other ideas?

If it recognized it before, make sure you're plugging it back into the same USB port you previously used. Also make sure the drivers are installed. If they're acting buggy, uninstall them and reinstall them. Downloading and installing Kies Mini (link provided by FB) would insure you get the right drivers installed.
Every time you flash a new Rom, it will probably do that. It depends on your computer. Once you uninstall the drivers, try to run ccleaner from piriform to clean out the registry. Reboot the computer. Then reinstall the drivers using the files from the Bible.

Yeah I tried UN and reinstalling the drivers I had gotten them from the Bible. I will try ccleaner and see what happens. Also I tried all USB Ports. Thanx for all your ideas I will post if ccleaner works or not

Plug your phone into your computer. Then go into your control panel and under Admin tools open computer managment. click on the device manager extension and find the device/s with the yellow exclamation point. right click and select uninstall. then unplug your phone and install the drivers from the SGS4G Bible and then plug your phone back in and it should work.
I forgot to mention my wife has this phone to stock never touched and my laptop registers gets just fine. When I plug mine in it says
USB device not recognized. And under some other options it says windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. I will try these suggestions though

Short of a factory data reset (which you'll want to do before sending it in for repair, anyway), I don't know. It's weird that it worked until you flashed a ROM.

[Q] Root without usb?

Hello, i know there are other threads like his but are extremely old. Anyway, is there a way to root that anyone know without usb? My usb controller is broken and will not be trading in my phone for another for a while. On the captivate there was a root method that was done through the stock recovery. Thank you for any help. Does not work....
it might be possible on froyo but not through recovery. you need to swap recovery for a modded one to flash anything not digitally signed by Samsung.
there is a loophole someone found that uses a file that is set to 777 permissions in init.RC to push a local.prop to allow root adb access but you still need USB to run adb. the meathod might allow automated rooting without adb but would been further refinement. most methods out there use adb. I don't know of any apps that work on the infuse to do it without a USB. but I'm not sure and I don't know anything about local.prop files.
it could be possible but I'm not sure of all the details.

It will give you stock working 2.3.6 GB with root, unlike with kies
Thanks a lot, Please, which one would u recommend? heimdall one click or the gremlin remover?

The Heimdall One-Click will not give you root unless you flash a custom kernel afterwards.
I prefer gremlin but thats cuz I like and know odin
Well I'm not very familiar with Odin. Also, if you use the gremlin remover, can you use mobile Odin?

+1 for Gremlin Remover. I have used it MANY times now, and it's EPIC!

[Q] Issues with Rooting my Infuse

For some reason I'm unable to root my Samsung Infuse. I've downloaded and installed the driver from the Samsung Kies mini and I've gone to my phone and checked USB debugging. I noticed that when I plugged my phone into the computer, I noticed that it only sayd "USB connected" but it never said "USB debugging connected" like I've seen on other phones on videos showing how to root the phone. I've used SuperOneClick v1.9.1 and it freezes and stops at "Running psneuter". I've used SuperOneClick v2.2 Short Fuse and when I run it, the program stops and freezes after "Rooting device...-Step #7" and I have to force quit the program. I've tried running these programs as administrator and nothing works. Can someone help me please?

No, what I mean is that after I installed ICS, I restored my contacts through an app that I had backed up before and in an hour or so that contact information disappears and I have to re-restore it again from the app.
