Headset button with Optimus One - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My stock earphones have broken and I'm looking for in ear earphones which have a play pause button too, now. I've shortlisted the Soundmagic MP21s. It's confirmed that it's button works with the iPhone, but some people have told me it does NOT work with samsung phones because of the way they're wired or something.
Any idea if these work with LG? If not, does anyone know whether the stock headphone's button works on the iPhone?

I have tested the stock headphones on my friends iPhone and the button does work. So, I guess the headphone you have shortlisted will also work with LG.

Stock headphones with just the one button controls will work, and only the one button on iphone headphones with volume controls, not the volume or mic. there's adapters out there that say that they fix this problem. i'm waiting on mine to come in the mail to test it. also depends on what rom you're using.

My logitech 200vi earphones don't work on my optimus one. Not on the stock ROM or the Cyanogenmod.

Headset shopping guide for lamers:
0a/ Find your phone.
0b/ Charge it before going to the shop!
0c/ Put some music on your SD card before going to the shop!
0d/ Install some music player on the phone before going to the shop!
1a/ Enter the shop (use the door).
1b/ Look around and ask for the headphones of your choice. Tell the guy that you want to test them with your phone.
1c/ Connect those to your phone via the minijack connector; or -
1d/ Pair the BT headset with your phone.
Important note: Normal jack, DIN and other connectors are unsuitable for your phone and will not work without an adapter. Do NOT try to hammer those into the phone's minijack one!
Important note: Do not complain about lack of minijack with bluetooth headsets. You will look like an idiot!
2a/ Open the music player and play some song you have put on SD card beforehand.
2b/ Put the headset on/in your ears.
2c/ Listen!!!
3a/ Can you hear the music? If yes, go to 4.
3b/ If not, check whether the media volume is not muted!
3c/ Volume OK and still no sound? STOP! Ask for another headset, this one will not work with your phone!
Important note: You will look like an idiot if you do not check and go complain that the guy gave you a broken headset.
4a/ Test the media buttons. Do they ALL (in case there is more than one) work?
4b/ If yes, go to 5.
4c/ If not, STOP! Ask for another headset, this one will not work with your phone!
5a/ Make a phone call. Can the other person hear you? Can you here him/her? If yes, go to 5d and then to 6.
5b/ If not, check whether someone really picked up the call and whether the call volume is not muted!
5c/ Call connected, volume OK and still no sound? STOP! Ask for another headset, this one will not work with your phone!
5d/ Before you hang up, ask the person you called to call you back.
5e/ You get sound but cannot hang up via the headset button? STOP! Ask for another headset, this one will not work with your phone!
Important note: You will look like an idiot if you do not check the volume and go complain that the guy in the shop gave you a broken headset.
Important note: In case noone likes you and you do not know whom to call, you might try some emergency number as a last resort (112 in Europe, 911 in the US, for other parts of the world check beforehand.)
6a/ Wait for the call. No call? You probably pissed off the guy you called, tough luck, ask someone else. Worst case, you might bribe the guy in the shop to call you. He will probably ask for your phone number. Give it to him!
6b/ When the phone rings, try to pick up the call via the button on the headset.
6c/ Did it work? Good.
6d/ It did not work? STOP! Ask for another headset, this one will not work with your phone!
General important note: Even if all the above worked as it should, you still should NOT buy the headphones if:
- it makes your ears hurt like hell after the 5 minutes you were testing them
- you get sound but cannot understand a word when making a call or the music sounds like Justin Bieber's "singing". (Important subnote: In case you really did put Justin Bieber MP3 on your SD card, the above is NOT a headset fault and you will look like an idiot when you complain about the bad sound. You should seek medical help in any case.)

ROFL!! Real crisp, man!
This has to be one of most funniest replies I've read in the OO forums. I'm debating whether to tweet/share this post! This post is so full of WIN!
I'm thinking how much effort this took. Appreciate it. Although in this case, it seems a bit of an over-reaction. But, any moderation on your part would have robbed us of this excellent post.

Bluetooth Headset for XDAII - Your opinions please

Hi People,
I'm looking to get potentially 3 Bluetooth Headsets for XDAII (for staff)
And I don't want any moaning once I get them that the quality is bad
Could you post your personal experiences of ones you have purchased and are using please. Would like some recommendations if possible.
I have a Sony-Erricsson HBH-35. Works like a charm.
No rebonding, it reconnects wether you'r out of range, the phone or headset has been switched off etc...
I have a Motorola HS810.
It's nice and small (even with the boom open). The audio quality is excelent. However, what really nags me is that it takes too long to boot the device when you open the boom, so that in most occasions it takes too long to connect to the XDA and I can't pick up a call in time.
Also, sometimes it simply doesn't connect to the device after I pick up a call on the XDA and I can't transfer the call to the headset.
Anyone with the same problems with this headset ?
My HBH65 works absolutely perfectly with the XDA2. Original XDA2 radio & Bluetooth stack - just as it came out of the box. I *never* need to rebond the two devices, even if they're switched off, out of range or whatever, and I can walk around my (small) house using the headset and leave the XDA2 on the desk.
Only criticism is the battery life on the HBH65, which is pants. I have to charge it every other day, at best, without much useage.
Still, it's *very* comfortable and the sound quality and volume is good in quiet environments. In the car it's a struggle, but that could be because I have a car with a 6 litre engine and no exhaust silencers...
I have a Jabra 250
Works perfect, never any bonding, or lost call problems, and as set 250 minutes of standby time, very small, and looks really smart. After I bought one, my wife wanted one too.
Thanks for the response all, much appreciated !
I opted for the Sony-Erricsson HBH-35
I got them from expansys and got them the next day! .... they are great. The call quality is excellent. I think the boom helps to eliminate background noise as the mic doesn't have to be too strong.
Now i just need to go to the "using it" forum to find out how to use voice dialing :s
Logitech BT headset is the best !
I really like the Bluespoon Cameleon. Works very well. Only about $100. Much less obtrusive than other Bluetooth headsets. You can change it's colors, which is cool. It's much smaller and lighter than other headsets as well.
It was so good, that I thought I'd go one step further and get the Bluespoon Digital, which I just started using. The Bluespoon Digital seems to get the call transferred instantly (quicker than the Cameleon), and it's about the size as the end of my thumb.
I havn't had the chance to try out the automatic gain control (changes volume of speaker based on ambient noise), or the digital noise cancellation (blocks out slow moving ambient sound).. but those features sound mighty nice!
About bluespoon, I have a pb, seems really good when I make a call but impossible to use it when i receive a call, no transfer to the headset

What's a pb? With the Bluespoons, you press a button on the headset to transfer the call to it.
really doesn't work, dunno why !!!!!
If you have an advice, I'll really appreciate it

Did you try a hard reset of the Bluespoon? Also a soft reset according to the instructions in the manual? After a soft reset you'll have to recreate the bond.
Plantronics M3000 is the best one I could fine. Everyone would always tell me they couldn't hear me. The M3000 sounds very clear, connects as a Bluetooth Device and battery life is around 2 days.
Very small around the ear, no cords, or mess. I like it.

Darn. I found out that the sony MDR-EX38iP are only partially compatible. Not sure about it's mic, but the volume controls don't seem to do anything.
I'll be testing Wal-Mart's no hassle return policy in the morning.
I'm having some trouble finding a hands free solution that's got music, and volume controls, a mic and stereo in earbuds. Anybody know of such an animal?
There's two other's that I've yet to try: the Skullcandy Titan headset, and the one's from JVC with the marshmallow earbuds.
The headset earphones that came with my DZ are better than the ones that came with my Dream, at least they stay in my ears, but I sure miss having volume controls as part of the remote.
walmart took them back, plus i tried and returned the scosche tapline headset because it didn't work either. well, at least the volume controls didn't work.
Has anyone got the SonyEricsson MH-810 Stereo Headset for Xperia? these might work since they're made for the android platform, not iOS.
Might be an app
I had trouble getting a headset with a mic to work at first. I thought the jack might be defective, but regular earbuds worked. I also noticed that it detected if I had a headset with or without a microphone. (the icon on top would change)
Then my husband told me he saw on some forum, that there's a known problem with headphones with a mics, if you have another music app installed other then the native one.
I had previously installed Winamp, so I uninstalled it and now both the HTC & the Apple headset with mic work fine.
Might be worth it to give it a try, if you have a another music player installed.

so @Milady_Odessa, with your apple headset, you can:
*answer & initiate calls
*change volume up and down
can you be more specific regarding which apple headset you are using, or possibly a picture?
Sorry I should have specified, it's the regular earbud/mic combo that came with the iPhone. It essentially does the same thing as the headset that came with my Z phone.
It can answer & adjust volume, turn on your media player. It can't initiate calls, but it can dial/call back the last number that called you by double-clicking on the middle button.

Thanks for elaborating, and the picture! hmmm, still not idea.
I would like to have the same functionality I have with the headset that I got for my Dream.
I thinking of getting a set of sony ericsson mh810 off ebay for about thirty dollars, but I would like to confirm that that the voice dialer / search feature works first.

I bought the HTC HS U350. This allows you to plug in your own earphones in to the mic piece. So far it works great but i do miss having controls for skipping music and also volume. I guess it will do until i find something better
I have the G2 with the Desire Z ROM and the iPhone headset that came with my 2G iPhone and the replacement one I bought about a year after are both working. After plugging them in I see a headset icon, and I tested using the Voice Recorder app and on a phone call, mic was working fine. As far as I know nothing was touched on the ROM from the shipped other than pre-rooted things like busybox, superuser, etc.
I've just tested Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket headset which is designed to work specially with iPhone - music sounds good, stop-play button works (with 1 second lag though), calls are good as well - mic works fine, you can answer and stop the call by pressing the button on the remote.
I tested with Desire Z and Desire.
I was hoping to get Klipsch S4i to use as headset, hopefully they will work with Desire Z

Anyone tried Griffin Smarttalk mic adaptor?
Hi,
Has anyone tried the Griffin Smarttalk adapter?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-Sma...LBEG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1291378019&sr=8-2
I'm particularly interested to see if the skip functionality works with HTC's music player?
Thanks,

Hi all
Anyone thought of using Sony mw600?
I only had this little marvel for 3 days (fone only 10 days) and I dare say it works beautiful.
It takes/makes calls without a glitch. It even displays the callers number ( didn't manage to make it display contact name yet, though)
Also it controls nicely my poweramp app, does prev/next, play/pause, and volume. It's got in ear detachable headphones, and it uses same microusb interface for charging as our lovely phones
All of this for around £30 of eBay!
It's not bad, is it?

hI,
I just got a pair of these Motorola S10 HD, they are BT and work pretty good. they arent very loud but loud enough for me.
I did see this link, it is a program that brings the TF's volume up, it sounds like a very good program go get but you have to be rooted.

I am not rooted yet, but when I do (soon, probably tonight) I will try it and let you know if/when I do.
the s10's do work, and they work pretty far away too (I can go from one end of the house to the other), plus they have a mic, you can change volume, song, track, etc from the headset too.
Hope that helps

I am still using my Motorola S9 headphones. They work well for music listening OR headset/mic but not both at the same time. Do the new S10HD work better? I always just disable headset profile for mine so as to avoid issue, but would love to have all functions available. For example, if you connect to both headset and a2dp simultaneously and then use voice search it fails to initialize the headset mic and uses the internal mic on the tablet/phone. This was a known issue of the S9 so I am hoping you can test and inform if it is resolved.

[Q] Headphones for Windows Phone Devices?

I know this should probably be posted in my device's forum (Samsung Focus), but I figure more people will probably look here and the topic about headphones in that forum is pretty dead.
I'm looking for headphones that are 100% compatible with a Samsung Focus, or any WP7 for that matter (I might be upgrading to a Focus S or a Titan - not sure yet). I don't want anything too expensive, I just want there to be volume up, volume down, pause / play / next / previous / answer call, and a microphone. I currently use iPhone headphones (as I bought my Focus used and never received a headset) and everything works except for the microphone and volume buttons (I'm surprised that much works).
So can anybody confirm 100% working headphones with the Focus / any WP7 device? Again, I am sorry that I'm not putting this in the right forum but that one has been dead for a few months.
EDIT:
I've looked at headphones here, but nobody has posted reviews on any of the headphones.

Hi Diablosblizz,
I use a simple A2DP receiver and then use whatever earphones/buds that i preferr at the time. All of the controls that you desire are held in the receiver unit and as i say the earphone type/price/quality remain your choice.

So, basically it is a Bluetooth device that connects to the phone and then I plug my headphones into it? I'm curious as to if this will continue to play my music. I have a PS3 Bluetooth headset that connects to the phone and works perfectly, but I can't listen to music through it.
Is there any way possible you could link me to your device so I could look into it more?

[Q] Need confirmation on headset call performance

If you use a headset/earbuds with an in-line mic to handle calls, I would appreciate it if you could confirm one thing for me.
During a call, do you hear your own voice (and surrounding noise) through your own headset?
I've never had a smartphone send the audio picked up by my own mic straight back to my own ears during calls. I'm trying to figure out if this is normal behavior for this device or if I have a problem.
u can try turning on microphone noise suppression... i bet its the other side using hands free where his/her mic picks up the loudspeaker and sends it back to you... did happen to me a couple of times and was fixed by the other side switching back to earpiece/headset instead of handsfree loudspeaker.. anyways if the problem still exists try upgrading/downgrading F/W .. if that didnt help simply take it back using the warranty
o and might wanna try a different headset if yours could be the culprit

Hi Mazroui, thanks for the response. I'm certain it's my own mic and not the other end. Here's how I tested - Bring up dialer, dial any number, hit call. As soon as I hit call, I can hear all the noise coming in from my own mic into my ears, no one is even on the other end of the line yet as the phone is still ringing. If I rub my finger across the in-line mic of my headset, all the rustling noise is sent right back to myself.
I wish I could say it was the other person on the other end of the line, but I'm definitely hearing the noise from my own mic during calls for some reason.
So I take it your phone doesn't do this?

Yeah, I tested with 4 or 5 different headsets, all stereo. A basic Panasonic set, Apple EarPods, Bose QC20 (Android version), Bose QC25, and I even have the Sony Active Noise Cancelling earbuds which only function with the Xperia devices, and even those send the audio from the mics back into my ears.
Each of these headsets work perfectly fine in other devices I have such as Google Nexus 5, Motorola Moto X 2014, iPhone 5S, and others.

Yeah, I'm going to have to go down the warranty route I think.
