OK. So I bought a brand new G2X a few weeks ago, installed new CWM via NV Flash followed all the steps like I have in the past with the G1 and Vibrant, only this phone I have a network connection issue after I flash a rom I have an ( H ) only for the network. If I reboot the phone I do not get any network connection at all, no matter how many times I reboot. I called tmobile and had a refurbished sent to me had the G2X for a week now and couldnt take the POS regular rom anymore. I followed the steps exact I am pretty sure. I went into CWM which I installed with external support I wiped data/factory reset 3 times, wiped dalvik cache (which BTW says "E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]" (not sure if that is normal.)) I do it again and it says "Dalvik Cache wiped", I wiped the battery stats, I choose install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card, I choose eaglesblood_v1.2_p999-ota-eng.zip, It installs fine, I then install gapps, and reboot the phone. Once the phone is rebooted I let the phone sit for 5 minutes, I sign in to my google account, and then I let the phone sit for 5 minutes again and reboot to see if the internet is going to work and it doesnt again. I also have chsnged sim card twice. I have never had this issue and if someone can help me fix this I will totally donate $5.00 to the BEER FUND!
Thanks in advance.
seems like you did everything right.
try going into network settings, and dis/reenabling data. also make sure there IS an APN in the APN settings.
What does it show for the icon at the top?
If it is gray bars with a small x the phone isn't getting a signal. Not sure what do do for this.
If it is colored bars with no edge/3g/H icon you are having an issue that I was dealing with. The answer I got was to...
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Go to "Phone Information"
Scroll down and under "select network type" select GSM-CDMA AUTO option
Right under that press "turn off radio" then turn it back on
Back out of there and all should be good.
Note: I use "WDCMA preferred" under select network type and it works fine for me.
Hope this helps.
EDIT:
I have also had success doing this..
Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks>Network operators... wait for the search to finish... >Select automatically>reboot

When I did this once I turn the radio off and the on I get the grey bars with an x and still no network connection. After a reboot I get colored bars but no network still.

When I tried this I still get no network connection.
Funny thing is if I install gapps through rom manager I get the [H] and colored bars. but after a reboot it doesnt work again.... Im so stumped! lol
there goes your problem.. you have no apn.
Go into "access point names". Press the hardware menu button --> reset to default. The original apn should pop up.
are you using CM7? I heard theres a apn problem with that. if you are then i can' help you since I dont have cm7

Download APNsBU in the market through Wi-fi, click Backup APNS, then click Restore APNs. Reboot and it should work

This works. Is this common? So basically everytime I want to reboot my phone I use that by restoring?

You won't have to screw with it if you switch to Gigglebread.

Hey Everyone,
Whenever I update to any version of cm7 and flash a new kernel with it I lose APN connectivity... I can't manually connect either. No 2g/4g nothing. Wifi is fine. I've tried multiple versions of cm7, etc. I don't have the same issue with Eagle 1.0.4 and/or Team Whiskey, flashing back to stock, etc. but anytime I try to check out CM7 I can't get it going! I figure it's something simple but does anyone have any ideas so I can try to get some OC going! Lol...
Thanks Everyone...

It's already been reported. A mod will move it shortly. Next time post in the Q&A section. This area is for Development only...hence the name.
Try it without the kernel.
- BFL
I've been recently having the same problem.
Not a problem, this was a question concerning development and more or less the roms I'm downloading from this section hence I posted it here... won't happen again.
As for flashing w/out the kernel, I thought you needed another kernel to run cm7 with? I'm trying to overclock basically which I can't do on the stock kernel either.... so I'm not really sure what to do but I'll see if I can flash back to gingerbread, get my data going and flash back to cm7 w/out using any new kernel... have to make sure the rom doesn't autoinstall the new kernel either when you flash the rom
Update the apn settings for t-mobile. You can find them online just by looking them up. Try that.

What works for me is a hard reboot. Hold volume up and power for 8 seconds. Apn should be there when you boot back up (usually). I have this issue with stock and any other kernel

SOLVED!
I had the exact same issue and fixed it by installing the SIM card that came in the GX2 box.
I had been using my Nexus One SIM up to that point. The T-Mobile customer service rep told me that the G2X needed the updated SIM card and that without it, there would be data issues when not on Wi-Fi.
Write the SIM card information down before installing it in the G2X and calling T-Mobile (or whoever is your service provider) b/c they need the serial number in order to properly provision the phone.

Worked like a charm!!! Thank you!!
Simple yet effective lol
Finally up and running on cm7 with no apparent issues to report!
Also I found out that going into settings, into the apn settings, pressing menu then reset to default seem to kick it outta limbo
Great info everyone, thanks!
I'm still working on getting the market up and running on cm7, but otherwise everything is running really clean!
Thread moved to proper forum.
I have the same issue, and only on CM7..
Other Stock roms work OK for 3G
I have 2 sims - one uses regular APN setting (supplied from simcard) the other one is manual
The one that uses default (simcard) apn worked once after first install..
Than doesnt work..
VOL up + power didnt do the trick..
Whenever I put the custom APN simcard, it doesnt apply the settings..
Very weird..
I'm using the SIM out of my G2x box. Maybe it helps a little but it still happens when coming from a reboot, wifi, or airplane mode.
When you go to Mobile Networks, it won't connect to any of the listed networks.
This is already known and discussed, but to put a solution to this thread:
Go into Mobile network.
Let it scan
Select ANY network, it will error
Select Automatic until it reconnects again
Done.
Once it reconnects, you should be able to go into APN settings and see "Simple" and "T-Mobile". Sometimes if you can you select "Simple" then select "Tmobile" again, it speeds things up.
Works EVERY time. Sucks it requires this most of the time but it only takes a second and will stay connected for as long as the phone is turned on.
Hard reset (VolUP+Power) didnt work..
Is it a problem with their firmware?
I require custom APN's on my Network operator -- stock (or eagle blood/team bionics) work great, but CM7 doesnt for some reason..
Cant figure out why..
Even 7.1 RC0

APN's won't stick until you do what I said above. Once you disconnected and reconnect, APN's should pop up. If you created your own APN, it should THEN be displayed.
Even customs APN's won't be displayed until you disconnect/reconnect using the methods above.

I feel like we're missing a step here. There isn't anything to select, unless you go under Network Operators or Access Point Names. APN is blank for me, so i can't select anything, and doing anything under Network operators doesn't work...
after flash everything works very well. and I have both WIFI and 4G turns on.
after few hours, I disable WIFI because I am going out, I found APN setting are all gone! it is a blank page. I click on "add new" add a new one in and save but nothing shows up. I can see the icon of "data roamming" is on, but without APN, I cannot access anywhere.
- I reboot few times. it doens't work.
- in APN page, I use "restore the default", nothing comes up
master reset fix the problem. but it happens again after few hours if I have both WIFI and 4G on for a while.
thanks
by the way, there is a way to fix it. turn the phone to airport mode and back, then APN all appear! included the one just added, and this process doesn't require reboot at all. hope this helps others
i too get this problem only on faux's rom. full wipe and new sim card. any help would be appreciated. ty.
where to report
Hi,
what is the best way to report this bug?
by the way, about the solution I provide, you may need to do that more than once until it shows up.
I think the problem could be
1. any power saving feature come with the rom? which turns thing off?
2. wifi calling?
thanks
Same issue with data but can't get it to work with cm7. Tried the following:
Battery pull, power on and off, airplane mode on off , volume up and power button, pull sim ,
Able to enter apn information but no data

Hi fellas
Upon flashing my G2X with the CM7 nightly build 123 & 124, I've found that mobile internet no longer works.
On the stock 2.3.3 gingerbread rom, it worked - so I can confirm that mobile internet definitely works on my phone, paired with my sim.
And yes I am using the same APN settings as before.
After installing build 124, i bumped into the notorious disappearing APN settings and thus tried flashing build 123.
Build 123 saves the APN setting - but for some reason the mobile internet just doesn't work. The 4G icon at the top doesn't show but i can still send and receive sms and calls etc.
I tried a restore to the stock rom and mobile internet works.
Does anyone have any idea what i should do?
If you do that would be great
(First time android user here - so i may have missing something very simple... so blurt out every possible solution you know)
EDIT: yes i do full wipes before each flash as well as a cache wipe, dalvik wipe and a fix permissions.
Also realised that after turning on airplane mode for a minute and then back off, that the apn setting disappears for build 123 as well.
:/
never mind
got it to work. the solution makes no sense at all and the logic that i placed all my pride upon has been crushed.
If this helps anyone in the future, i may as well post it.
Here are the steps i took.
Connected phone to wifi and downloaded an app called 'APNsBU (ROOT)' (Search for 'apn backup' in marketplace and it should come up on the list)
Then i set some apn's which disappeared and opened APNsBU (ROOT).
Set an apn backup within the app and then press restore (this will reboot your phone)
On reboot i went to the APN list again and found the apn that i had insisted should work.
Went to 'Network operators' and selected a network that it found which somehow registered. (It wasn't even the same network as my sim.. derp)
Searched online for the apn settings on the network that 'somehow registered' and entered them in and saved.
Press the holy green dot for the new apn setting.
?
Profit
Hi,
I installed superlite 5.1 a few days ago and everything was running fine. Now all of a sudden I can't make or receive phone calls. Calls to me go straight to voice mail, and out going calls fail immediately.
I tried flashing the Leec ICS_Rogers_Base modem and the problem is still there.
also it does says 4G LTE in the status bar.
Can anybody please help me out?
Thank you
Check your apn settings
APN setting look unchanged from before.
Fix permissions?
I don't understand what "permissions" are?
I just wiped and reflashed superlite 5.1.. still getting the same problem
In ROM manager, click fix permissions
the fix permission screen just hangs? nothing happens.
was able to boot into recovery and fix permissions from there.. but it didn't fix the problem

My lte reception was poor and I saw somebody say dial *#2263# and change LTE options to LTE ALL on another thread. I haven't received a call after I did that. I changed it back to LTE B3 which I read was the default but still have the same problem. Do you know what setting it should be on?
LTE B3
LTE B4
LTE B5
LTE B7
LTE B17
LTE B20
LTE ALL
never mind!!
found this in another thread
"do this:
*#2263# - LTE Pref. set to LTE ALL
press back
again go to *#2263#, now set Option #1 to 1 (Automatic) press home, you will be good."
Its working again!!
Thanks for all your help though

I get a black screen with ServiceMode and nothing else.
I've been running SilverL's CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM for a while now, and earlier I accidently hit the data toggle in QuickSettings. Since then I havent been able to make/receive phone calls, and data is not working either. Wifi is fine. I did a little searching and I think I found the problem. Android doesn't seem to know what my phone number is. I tried shutting off the phone, booting without my SIM card, then puttting it back in and booting with the SIM card back in, and unfortunately its still not working. Heres a screenshot of the testing status screen.

Interestingly enough, I managed to fix it by manually adding the APN from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003318
I have no idea what triggered this, but I am glad it worked.
Thanks for the help
