[Q] Remaping keys on tablet (Push and Hold)? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I use button remapper to remap keys on my tablet but is there a way to have codes for push and hold any button?
Example: in my tablet Dropad A8 if I push menu I get of course menu but if I push and hold menu I get Keyboard poping up so what I was thinking of is that there different key number for push and hold but dont find it in key codes list.
Is there somewhere a general key code list that include everything.
Now I am maybe wrong and push and hold is generated by kernel and the same button code?
Thank you

How to remap keys ?

Hi
does anyone know how to remap keys, I would like to remap the green call button to list recntly used apps, the one that we get when we long press home key.
Really miss the alt-back key combination of blackberry.
i think a quick key to app switcher will make any device really faster

Click to collapse
Press and hold the 'Home' button and it'll show you the list of the last 6 recently used apps.
thanks,
but i do know the long press home button, or press and hold home key.
I want to remap this function to the green call button instead.
so that i can get to the application switcher in one key stroke instead of pressing and holding

About long.. and short.lnk on HD2

Hi,
I want to configure my HD2 like this:
Short press on End = Default
Long press on End = Power off
Short press on Back = Default
Long press on Back = Start HTC Flashlight
..and so on for all the hard buttons, Green, Red (End), Back, Home, Windows, Vol Up, Vol Down.
I have read several (and I mean several) threads about creating own shortcuts, but I still haven't found the answer..
Long_Power.lnk/Short_Power.lnk/Long_Send.lnk/Short_Send.lnk etc.
Does anyone know if this method works on HD2 and if so, exactly which buttons that are configurable and which names the shortcuts shall have?
Thanks in advance!
AEB Plus
try to search themes and apps for "AEB Plus". It's an app that makes you be able to configure all the hardware buttons with short press and long presses. Good luck!

Thanks for your tip, but I'd prefer own shortcuts/registry hacks if possbile as I try to minimize the number of applications to install/maintain/buy for a very specific reason.
Rename the INK file of the preferred program to LONG_SEND and copy this INK file to WINDOWS root directly. Press and hold the SEND hardkey will execute that preferred program. But the SEND key may not work when there is an incoming call.
Tried AE Button Plus but fail to work with the BACK button.

Thanks, but do you know any other shortcuts that work?
I hope someone else may find method to override the default function of the keys other than SEND. Currently I am using Touchx long press send key for connmanager and you may select other installed program for the long press send key. I have also tried AE Button Plus but the Windows, Home and Back key all cannot be controlled by AE Button no matter double, triple nor long tap.

[Q] Remap Buttons?

Hello,
I have a friend with a Droid 2 and their power button is on the way out. Is there a way to remap the camera button to be the power button?
I have tried editing the "cdma_droid2-keypad.kl" file, but it doesn't seem to change anything...
Code:
key 116 POWER GRAVE
key 211 FOCUS POWER WAKE
key 212 CAMERA POWER WAKE
does this code look correct? I just can't seem to get it to change anything. After pushing the file it doesn't change the button behavior at all.
They are rooted and on CM7

[Q] Hard button remapping and combination customizing

hey everyone
im new to this site, so i cant post in the development forum.
i have a question about remapping - is it possible to remap or customize hard button combinations - for example changing the .kl files so that if key 114(volume down) and key 115(vol up) are pressed together - it causes the screen to lock.
the only reason im asking is that i have a galaxy s3 - the volume rocker is too sensitive. i disabled the vol up and vol down by inserting a # in my devices .kl files, but it would be handy to make a combination hard key press for volume up and down - like the home button+vol up = volume up.
any idea how to do that?

Trouble with APP-SWITCH & MENU key

Hello,
First post I have rooted my Oneplus one yesterday, after that my MENU key and recent app (APP-SWITCH) has been set back to default
Long Press - APP-SWITCH & Short press - Menu
I wanted to interchange both keys Long press - MENU & Short press - APP-SWITCH
Then I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733811 for switching keys
I have replaced
(key 139 MENU) with (key 580 APP-SWITCH)
Now my APP-SWITCH key is working but MENU is not working please help me sort it out as its my first root ever so noob with these.
If someone want to help you can get Generic.kl here- - > http://pasted.co/3a9b34ca
I think it's because key 580 is long press of MENU not long press of key 139. So whichever button you set to MENU, when you long press it, it will use key 580's value. In this case, your left button just turned to Recents (APP_SWITCH) key, not MENU key anymore, so when you long press it, key 580's value won't be used.
So i think changing left button short press to Recents (APP_SWITCH) key is as far as you can go, nothing more you can do about the long press without custom ROM or xposed. (Or does CyanogenOS have the Buttons section in the settings, i don't remember)
