[Q] Micro USB charger for airplanes? - G2 and Desire Z Accessories

Has anyone found a good micro-usb charger for use on airplanes? I've only been able to find some over $100 universal adapters and some inverters which are larger and heavier than the G2 they're going to charge.

Home/Car Micro USB Charger

There are many options for micro USB car and home chargers out there. Is there any worry that the chargers are not the right configuration for the Nexus One? I don't want a $10 charger blowing up my $600 phone.
For example, can I buy a Blackberry micro USB charger and safely use it on my N1?
Yes... a Blackberry charger will work perfectly, but I think only puts out 700mA, so it'll take a little longer to charge than the 1000mA charger the phone comes with.
I suggest going to monoprice.com. From there you can buy a 1000mA car charger and wall charger both made for USB cables. You can also buy the USB cable with the microUSB connector. I bought 2 cables and one of each charger for a total of about $9.

DZ/G2 = Micro USB

The DZ has a Micro USB connector. No big suprise to a lot of people, I'm sure. But I have come from a Touch Pro 2, which had a Mini USB socket. So I've had to get some new cables (e.g. for car charger, retractable cable to carry around etc).
Of course the phone does come with a suitable cable for its mains adaptor, but some of you, like me, might like to have more than that.
This might help out those who want to keep using their mini usb chargers on micro usb devices.. it's only $2 and free shipping.

Edit: This page has micro usb cables (including htc oem) for under $3 and probably usb wall adapters as well. There's also good deals at monoprice.com for the cables at least.

AC Adapter - Would this work on my Captivate?

I don't know how this stuff works. So, is that going to charge any phone? I wish I could find an adapter where one cord was white on one side, I thought that was awesome on my Touch Pro.
A micro USB charger is a micro USB charger... they're pretty standard, and yes, it will work. I use an LG wall-wart for my Captivate (or the computer), and have used Blackberry chargers with Motorola products, and vice-versa.

Yup, any Micro USB will work. The only difference in chargers is the amperage at which it charges. The only way that affects the phone is how fast it will charge. The higher the number, the faster it will charge.
I'm buying a charger with this warning:
"This battery charger cannot operate your Micro USB cell phone when attached to a discharged cell phone battery"
What the hell does that mean? I honestly think it is just nonsense.
I have an epic and captivate..and so far only 2 of my micro usb chargers dont charge..both chargers came with bluetooth headsets...
Plus my GF's Droid ONLY and it would ONLY charge with the oem charger that it came with..if she uses the one that it came with my epic the screen will go "crazy"...starts to detects non existing touch inputs, some others wont charge...

[Q] External Battery Cradle for Car

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has been able to find one of those eBay external battery charges that can be used in the car. I have two of the wall chargers and I was wondering if anyone had seen one that would plug into a cigarette lighter or one that could be used via usb charging. I know I could just get an inverter and use a wall charging cradle but I was hoping to avoid all the extra bulk.

Yea I have a ton of those guys. Very nice
Back when MicroUSB was just coming about, my new phone had micro while my bluetooth headset and work blackberry used the older miniUSB.
Instead of buying all new chargers and car kits, I opted for those guys. Works great and an awesome solution. All of my data and charger cables are miniUSB with one of those bad boys on it. So I can use 1 cable for a wide array of devices.
Typically they are like $1.xx so buy them up.
