Miui porting please :( - HTC Desire S

nobody could port Miui ROM from desire hd (so similar to desire s)?
something is started in dev thread, but the project seems to be dead.

I guess people are more interested in sense 3.0. I think a CM7 port will get support, MIUI just isn't that popular among DS users.

I want miui!

ok, but this port it's the same that i've made with android kitchen....a lot of things don't work...and there is no development since months

Wait till Desire S can be easily changed to S-off (without xtc clips or ordering the phones from SEA) I did see a port but if you are that desperate, you could try porting it yourself (asking original devs and making sure it is ok with them first of course)

in MIUI UK(miuiandroid) someone try to port 1.6.24 release for DS. It seems work.

Just not the camera yet

Converting a Desire HD Rom????

How easy is it to convert a rom from Desire HD to Desire s?
The reason I say so, my brother (owner of DHD) uses this rom :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056727
which is probably the best rom I have ever seen, its by LeeDroid, whats the chance of it coming to Desire S?????
Reading and comparing all about the desire HD, it doesnt differ much....
We have a leedroid port in the dev area.

I tried it... But i soft bricked my DS. Luckily with RUU (in fastboot menu in bootloader) i could make my device useable again... Please leave it to people who have the knowledge about it. Most of the devs i know have studied several code languages like java and C.

You don't really need to know java and C++ to port a ROM....Assuming it's from Device A to Device B, and they're related. It's easy to port the ROM when it's from the same series/generation and have same hardware.

Why would you put a stock DESIRE HD ROM on an INSPIRE just to hope that HTC will think you have a DHD and give you the update for the DHD? Well they won't anyways. You do realize a stock DHD ROM is not 100% compatable with the Inspire? They do have slight hardware differences.
Gene Poole has a rooted version of the new DHD ROM with adjusted drivers for the Inspire in the Development section. If that is what you want in the end then just install it. Here is the link.

Only problem with that is, other users, like myself, have gotten a bootloop after installation. It will boot, but will constantly loop on the "HTC - quietly brilliant" screen. Last I checked, there was no solution as of yet. If Gene Pool can figure out what is causing it and correct it, I will most likely try flashing it again.

If you really want to run this stock base, I would go into fshami's Sens 3.0i thread and ask Wild Child if you could test his soon to be released stock version of this base. It has all the S's- smooth, stable, speedy, solid..... I'm sure he wouldn't mind another good tester.

Call to devs for USB-OTG enabling

Hi devz, i got an idea about the usb storage-
If the kernel supports it, then maybe by using a market app- host mode for xperia arc, we can have access to thumb drives !!
Please someone try and maybe it will work...
When i had an xperia neo, an XDAuser -Doomlord posted some modules in xperia arc dev thread and they also worked for neo--what about trying those !!
And
I am sorry for not following Dev section rules...i had to do this to give my idea to all the devs as i didn't had much time to PM every single dev here
AGAIN- I AM REALLY SORRY

wtf 200 views and no comment beside i think the best way for you to send the private message to developer you know off because no one here can really help you out except developer but i don't think developers use this forums but i can be wrong the best think is to pm themand see what happens
I don't have that much time coz i use xda from phone and secondly i hardly know any developer....
I've posted the same in Dev section too
And if you can do the PM job, I'll be thankful to you

I was thinking about asking this same thing, but then I figured we'll have it once ICS arrives. Or I'm wrong?
I don't think it's going to be in ice ics but pproper version of ics won't be out for a while and since I'm gonna sick with 2.3.4 gingerbread I think its better if the mod is created for us by our developers.
But I'm hoping that ics support for USB otg is true

I dint feel the same coz ICS wil have only those things supported by Galaxy nexus and i dont suppose that galaxy nexus has Otg enabled..Does it !!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G Z710e using XDA App
Samsungs already had otg for a while. SGS and SGS2 have it, without custom roms.
Since ICS is made for tablets I figured it will have otg by default... I might be wrong though...
don't think it will.
all the other htc's where the devs enabled usb otg/host you had to power your usb peripherals with a self powered hub.
also i don't think there are that many devs for the sensation that will/can fix this.
here are some devs that know something about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993152
http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/
and cotulla for the HTC HD2 on windows mobile and ubuntu
I doubt the hardware can't pull it off. At worst we'll need a custom kernel that supports otg. Which is what we need now
It's apparently working on Desire S, with CM7 and tiamat kernel. I'll test this once I get a host cable.

This COULD be helpful but..... the Endeavor is based on a tegra chipset so i don't think that when they port the rom over OTG will work.
IDK if this is related but i was pouring over dmesg in the terminal and i found [3178.161468][USB] OTG PM resume and [3178.1152893][USB] OTG PM suspend. USB OTG caught my eye but I am no developer so i might be nothing.

ICS for Desire S ?

Is there a chance for an official update for the Desire S to the ICS ?
Nobody knows, but could be possible...
At this moment no available information about from ths update but in my oppinion its coming about 2-3Q of year.
i've read that htc wants upgrade desire's series. HD,Z and S but in second semester of this year. i'm not sure how much is a credible information..
If HTC is ever going to release official ICS for Desire S then it is for certain that you will have to wait a long time.
Don't hold your breath.. HTC has not been very fast publishing updates, at least not for the Desire series... Q3 is probably overly optimistic (IF there will ever be an official update).

Because the leaked ICS ROM is for the Sensation, which is a qHD device.
It's best to wait for a leak of the XL which had the same screen as us

For many reasons..
Even though most of us will be using custom ROMs, we want official bases to work from so we have the right kernel source, drivers etc. This way you have better comparability, battery life, performance etc.
Think HD2. No official WP7.
Unofficial WP7 built with no official drivers = permanent bugs. (Multitouch, camera flash)
I explain this EVERYTIME, when someone posts this....

I'm not sure it will happen. HTC only announces large screen and high resolution phones now. And as we all know, they don't like to upgrade old phones. So if there will be an ICS phone with 480x800, it won't be soon.

Trying to get to the 10 post count in a hurry, are we?

[Q] is there any way to flash or install htc sense on a jb costum rom separatly?

guys just flashed jb 4.2.2 on my sensation xe it works nice but dont have htc sense is it posible to flash any htc sense separatly?
I don't think so. Sense is an user interface that changes most of files of a rom.
What you can do is search for a sense theme in theme section (probably there isn't one) or wait for venom team fix and release jb sense version. They already got it working, but there's still some major bugs.
thing is. i wish i can dual boot with two different roms... i remember something like that long ago. i wonder if it works... i should search the thread.
if you have any luck plz share with me and thx
