This is just for reference purposes only - I've been messing with this for a few hours, trying to work it into a Mountain Laurel update. Not sure if it's really worth doing yet.
Keep in mind that, if you run this as is on a GTAB, the side buttons will likely break and there's no camera app (since the Hannspad has no camera). There could be other unexpected issues as well. And on a 1.1 GTAB, it will possibly soft-brick, especially if you use clockworkmod. So just a heads up to use at your own risk.
Direct download link: http://tapntap.http.internapcdn.net/tapntap/hannstar/update-smb_a1007-4789-user.zip
Again, this is a ROM for the Hannspad, NOT the GTAB. They are similar devices, but not 100% the same. It's a newer 1.2-based ROM with a newer compile date than GTAB 4349 stock. Btw, this of course begs the question: Why is it that the Hannspad gets a relatively new TapnTap update, whereas legacy stock GTAB users are still stuck on 1.1-3588?
EDIT: screenshot. This is running off my GTAB, updated from 4349 stock --

Side buttons are definitely borked, and possibly the g-sensor as well.
Button Savior.
I second button Savior for every day use as well. I used button remapper to disable my side buttons long ago. Its the perfect solution for using the gtab in the dark too.
On topic though, any major UI changes in the hannspad update?
can we port over drivers and other files from the 4349 update?

Nothing of note yet, other than the addition of a few more languages (German, Italian, and Portuguese). The overall speed might be a little higher than 4349 stock, but the high-def playback is still problematic, unfortunately. That was the one thing I was hoping would be fixed. And Netflix doesn't work, either - yes, that was one of the first things I tested.
It's interesting just to see what TapnTap have been doing these last few months, but I'm not sure if it's worth developing into anything, yet.
REPLY EDIT: Ahhh, didn't look before I leaped. Will learn from that error.
I always though TnT was just a Home Screen Replacement. Is it more then that? Or can the APKs be ripped out and modded?
It's a few things - framework alteration as well as different stock applications. Some people prefer the TnT status bar, for example.
Still waiting on a new Viewsonic stock update, if it ever happens....
does anyone knows if there is a section/forum for hannspree sn10t1 tablet ?
clockwork mod , etc ?
it would sure be nice to be able to install a stock 2.2 android version with gaps in it and market.

I haven't seen one. Hannspad and Olipad users seem to be dispersed into this forum - and no power users / modders have made mods for them yet, at least tmk.

In short!
Build a G1 rom without so many stock applications!!! This will defiitely cause a snappier feel to functionality.
(I once used a rom with 37 stock apps, the g1 can only handle about 40 unrooted! ridiculous!)
I've had a G1 since the beginning, and as things have progressed along no one has really noted how much we've crammed into the device with each OS update, much like bloatware.
I've recently been running the latest up to date roms I can find, and they don't run up to par, there is a lot of lag and waiting. This isn't to say all roms or slow or even any at all, just my experience and I hope with that we can build a 2.2 rom without added applications.
Maybe make two roms, a bare bones rom and a full one.
I don't need: launcher pro
an extra email client
3d gallery
music
news and weather
talk
voice dialer / search.
There are better alternatives on the market, and the voice search is horrible.
All Android phones will eventually slow down with OS updates, lets not cram the g1 with new services found on better phones. (bluetooth 2.0)
I think it's great progress I do, but I think the majority of g1 users would be grateful without them/ a pick between barebones and full roms.
I've deleted most of the apps mentioned above, but without the extra email app my gmail wont sync, and all sorts of quirky things.
The g1 isn't slow, it was fast and snappy with the firmware version it came out on, let's keep stock apps to a minimum!
Tried to keep this short, sorry.
You know, you can easily edit any of the roms, by hand, or using dsixda's kitchen
Or if that sounds too geeky, you can always install root explorer and delete the desired apk files from /system/app. it works for me. i remove the onscreen keyboard (extra 4mb of ram), voice search, voice dialer, bluetooth (which i rarely use, so i dont need it there), extra mail client,
soooo..
What your saying is because you dont want to do it yourself and you are the only one who uses these roms, the developers should do more work just for you.
You do understand how easy it is for you to delete what you dont want from a rom right?
Let's refer to the OP and see what is now bolded.
I've used Root Explorer to delete apps (and still do) but it never is as sound as I'd like.
My Gmail won't sync and will crash after I delete the extra email.apk,
my contacts will crash when trying to join with FB small here and there things.
I'm all about being "geeky" with my phone, I'm a little bothered anyone would think I wasn't considering I've been using this device since the beginning with ADB and all that noise.
It was a suggestion for less technical users to not have the hassle. I read Cyan the other day saying how these devices are still fun to hack and they just keep adding to it not regarding (it seems) if it will be snappy and functional for every day use.
and thank you fonix232 I'll look into it
dude if you dont want all the "bloat-ware", you should try a plain phone like this, i use one my self

and on a almost serious note, that reminds me of that skinny mp3 lookin' phone Verizon put out like 2 years ago that slid out like a blade haha
Simply install an 3rd party app like android commander and remove what you desire from /system/app. Going to request a close/move on this, as there isn't too much development going on here+already slightly off topic.
EDIT: Also remember barebone roms, about 2 or so were released. The reason why you don't see more as it didn't really impact the G1 that much. Let's face it, we're lacking ram mainly and os support.

I uploaded a few stripped roms in the past, but nothing recently. This was mostly when I was repacking WG's kernel into various different roms. Now with AnyKernel Updater (and pershoot, dumfuq, exterry, etc) constantly building kernels, there's little need.
It really comes down to the fact that there isn't the perfect rom for everyone. It's easier for me to strip what I don't want out, throw some extra scripts here and there, and testsign the zip.
I got the latest Provision[JellyVision] ROM from Team D.I.R.T last night and it was lovely; smooth, fast, feature filled.
I went from stock and the difference was night and day (Google Now opens up like its nothing in this ROM, something that used to irk me w/ stock) Just as I finished up setting up the phone and was laying back for a nice continuation of the GOT on my Kindle app, I discovered an unfortunate bug....there was no auto-orientation! I couldn't pull my phone out of portrait mode...all the settings were enabled/disabled, the phone was restarted/put-in-all-sorts-of-awkward-angles and I finally just gave up and installed the latest Cyanogenmod nightly; I used it for a full day and felt like I went to back to a hoopty from a Benz.
Now I want to go back, I'm thinking of just figuring out how to get Kindle into landscape mode without the accelerometer and enjoying the Provision goodness while looking for a fix for the auto-rotation. Any suggestions/fixes?
I checked the development thread and there is one other person who has a similar problem, and the developer (evol4g) is aware of it but does not really utilize auto-rotation like that. I also would post on that thread but I'm a virgin poster and I can't play mess w/ the big developers yet, so I came here. I'm new to posting, so please be nice.
ditto..

i feel ya.. that rom is so sick! i have the same problem... had to wipe/reset and go with my miui backup till the problem is solved!
Try this: download sensor display app from Market(it has pink icon). Open it and press gyroscope, than go back and press accelerometer. See if there are some numbers on right indicating that sensor is working. I have accelerometer problems with cna, rasbean, sometimes it just stops working, and it comes back again after a while. So when its not working i open that app, press gyroscope(because that is working all the time), go back, press accelerometer and numbers shows there, so gyroscope triggers accelerometer sensor somehow and its working then.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium HD app
That method did not work for me, gyroscope seems fine but accelerometer is completely blank.

I think it's a bug with the ROM. In the time being, you can force one orientation with Rotation Locker.
I mapped the rotation locker action to the long press search key, when I press it it pops up and shows the dialog. Then I can longpress Landscape (it runs a service when long pressing to make sure it doesn't get killed by Android) and it locks it there no matter what.
It's a bit of an annoying work around, but for the time being until it gets fixed, that might help you.
That's an awesome temporary fix! Thank you. This should hold me over until a proper fix (or a better ROM) comes my way.

No, no change log. Also checked on AT&T's software update site and they don't have this new update listed yet. All they have is the one we got last month that updated AT&T's address book app.
Phone is rebooting now..
I don't see anything different right off the bat, but will report back if anything has changed/improved.

Just wondering, did it skip from software version H81010e to H81010g or did I miss an update?
Is LG or AT&T posting change logs anywhere?
Is there any tool that will let us pull version data from the APKs so we can see what's updated?
I've been out of the scene for awhile (first new phone since the One X) so please pardon me if the answers to my questions are common knowledge.
im on 10e, and tried to manual check for 10g, says i'm up to date... can't check again for 24hrs.

Yes, the software went from "e" to "g" with one update. It is normal during software development to not release every point release.
Change logs do get posted, but they are not very good and they are not timely (it may take a few days).
Wonder if I will get this since I use my h810 on tmo's network. I checked for update but it didn't find anything.

Verizons 11A update had performance and touchscreen updates. Definitely feels faster and touchscreen feels more responsive.
Although my battery is at 30% where normally this time of the day is at 70%. And also my Qi Charger had my phone rebooting this morning.

I recently brought mine back out. I had tried flashing it with Omni 5.1.1 but it was buggy, so I reverted to 4.4.4 (CM11 I think?) and it's working great! I've not bothered installing gapps, instead installing F-Droid. It now serves as my car navigation/media system, sitting on its dock doing it's thing. I overclocked some and it's quite stable, running awesome.

everything is on Android File host, just go on the site, search for "Motorola Xoom" and start browsing
You are alreay big part partitioned I see, but remember, to switch between bigpart and no bigpart you just flash the bigpart/non bigpart twrp, and format data and all other partitions (accept sdcard of course). not wipe, format to ext4.

XOOM still in use
I have used my MZ604 on and off over the years. Recently it went into the endless re-boot syndrome which I thought was hardware related as I tripped over the charger wire and bent the flimsy pin in the process. Tried taking it apart, disconnecting the battery, putting it in the freezer, swearing at it - all to no avail. Finally tried the dreaded factory reset which set it to Android 4.1.2 (can’t remember what the version was before) and to my surprise it works perfectly. Apart from having to re-do all the apps it’s a result I wasn’t expecting. Bit like getting an old friend back.
with bigparted cm11 , xoom is quite well . I still use it normally.
Anyone have a CHUWI Hi8 SE 8-inch Android 8.1 Oreo Tablet?
I was looking on Amazon and the specs seem pretty good, but I've never really heard of the company.
Are they any good?
Reliable?
I'm tempted to buy one.
I just got one today, haven't had much time to try it out yet. I'll write more next time.
In the meantime, I also have a few questions regarding the Chuwi's Android flavor (for anyone that might know the answers):
- With the default setup/launcher, is there really no way to customize the toggles in the notification area?
- Is it possible to use gestures instead of the bottom row 3 buttons? Haven't found the related settings anywhere yet.
I bought this tablet recently. It is a great value for the money!
Great screen, vanilla Android 8.1.0, no bloatware, 32gb storage.
My only complaint is that I'm completely unable to format SD card as internal (it has the option) or move apps to SD (there is no option). It's really weird and I'd like to figure this out!
I love it so far. Using it mounted in car for Waze navigation and Amazon music with everything automated through Automate Android app.
I agree, it's a great value for money, and unlike some (?) Xiaomi devices (which are actually great as well), it comes without bloatware and the kill-me-now privacy policy (and I can pretty much disable all apps I don't need, which was impossible on my last Xiaomi "trip").
And their support is even more responsive than that of my bank.
Other than that, I miss gestures (the bottom 3-button row on the screen is the only way to go), and I installed Nova launcher because I didn't really like the default one.
One more thing... the recovery mode is in Chinese - can someone post a translation of the first level menu?

It's not a bad tablet. Build-quality is pretty good and for the money, it is a good value. My only problem with it is that it doesn't recognize any of the Micro SD cards I put in (cards are fine as I tested them in other devices).
Came across some weirdness in one of the two system updates sections - namely, every now and then, the checking for updates fails, and the status line says
Code:
Failed to connect to fota5t.xxx.com/0.0.0.0:443
(see the screenshot below)
Sometimes it gets resolved correctly in the same session. My guess is they (Chuwi?) have issues with DNS or are attacked occasionally.... I mean, why in the world would the update URL end in xxx.com (the 0.0.0.0 IP is probably one of my blockades, on the other hand).

CHUWI Hi8 SE performance
The performance is very poor. The interface is not moving smooth at all. It cannot play 60FPS (neither 1080p nor 720p) clips in YouTube app. Chrome frequently freezes in use for 1 or 2 seconds.
Touch screen is very very poor. Is not calibrated and very insensitive.
Disappointed!
Any possibility to root the device?
TWRP or root solution for this device?
Very good price from BangGood
Managed to find its base ROM on Chuwi's official forum.
It'd be great to be able to root it or, even better, to have an Android 5 ROM for it since Oreo (8) is a bit laggy. ~
I recommend it ! :fingers-crossed:

One of two bricked,
I bought two for my kids, one of them just died after 6 months, haven't figured figure out what yet, suspect battery. As I bought from banggood it's no point claiming warranty, cost to much time. Bought new in Europe, lesson learned.
