original pre ordered G2x problems: decent Bleeding/reboot every few days
2nd G2x: HORRIBLE how can i say this better ..... FUGLY BLEEDING
3rd device on its way: possible bleed maybe reboot issue/wifi problem....?
4th G2x:......... maybe if the third one sucks
5th G2x...... i hope not
but yes im keeping it/them even if i have to exchange it for the next two years
alot of support behind the phone and a great community!

bought it with my employee discount
no returns for us
luckily i still have 1 discount left which i'll use on the sensation or the GS2. then my discounts reset in october.

Definately keeping it. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I have not experienced any of the reported issues. My screen does have a slight bleed, but not highly noticeable . I already rooted and flashed Eagles_blood rom. Its only a matter of time until more roms and custom kernels are realeased, then we will really see what this phone is capable of.

I bought the phone yesterday knowing that I had 30 days to make my mind up on it. While I've only had the phone for a little over 48 hours, so far all is good. Yes the screen bleeds but its not as bad some peoples. Frankly I dont often watch video on my phone nor do I use dark wallpapers so the only time I ever even think of the bleeding is during boot and when I check this forum (lol). No reboots yet, OS is faster than any phone I've ever used, and contrary to my expectations HSPA+ actually does provide a noticeable boost. What I'm monitoring closest now is battery life. So far it seems to be at least on par with my Vibrant which is something I can live with. Loving stock Android also. If things keep up at this rate I wont be taking it back in 28 days.

Well gingerbread has a black notification bar, so if you have issues with the top corners like i did you might change your mind about the bleeding being ok.

I've checked screenshots with black toolbars and it wont be an issue for me. I keep the tool bar hidden anyway so the only time its even visible is if I have an app open in which case im focused on the content of the app not the notification bar. I'm sure there will be tons of themes with light notification bars anyway.

I have a black notification bar right now and the bleeding isnt noticeable.

today i returned mine, i miss it already but the battery life was unacceptable, been using it for 10 days and it got slightly better, not to forget the backlight bleeding and the various bugs here and there.
Im going to pick up SGS2 once it's available here, although i despise the touchwiz but thank god we LauncherPro

I unfortunately had to exchange my first one for a new one. My original would randomly think the wired headset was connected when it wasnt. This rendered the phone basically useless. Plus no one else in these forums talked about a similar situation. So I exchanged mine for a new one. So far its good. Fingers crossed!
I wish everyone that decides to pass on the G2X for the sgs2 or sensation the best of luck! Coming from Sammy's first real attempt at trying to run with the big dogs, the VIBRANT, I can honestly say that while its a decent device to get started with in android, it leaves much to be desired. At the time of its release the galaxy s line had the best hardware then too. But that didn't mean sqaut in real world performance. Those things laughed at us everytime we opened the app menu!
Look at all the time people like SUPERCURIO put into voodoo, just to make that thing be half the phone it could be. And dont even get me started on updates! Froyo? Froyo? Did you say Froyo? I had froyo before it was even a wet dream in TMO's eyes here. If it wasnt for some great DEV's pulling together on that thing and making it what it should have been in the first place, I, along with half the people that bought a vibrant probably woulda nailed our genitalia to the floor in a burning building.
So you guys get a super duper AMOLED screen phone that you still cant see in the sun! Talk about how AWESOME that screen is inside the house. Go ahead, take it in, love it, embrace it! Your little injection molded plastic-ey POS may sound like the next best thing, but this guy read the book and bought the t shirt! #SAMSUNGNEVERAGAIN!
Just wait, you'll see. And BTW good luck with that htc boot loader, sensation fans. I'll sit back and watch from the sidelines with my #CYANOGENMOD G2X!

Your going to love all the mods you're going to have to do to get rid of the iphone lookin, battery hogging, hope you know how to root, because it will still run in the background and control everything. So yes, they dont like to release kernel code either.
Please dont take my ramblings as the spoken word. Sammy might surprise us and throw us a bone. But remember if you get one update thats all you should expect.
And for the record, HELL YEAH! I still have a sour taste in my mouth from that fricken phone!

I returned for now and will be getting it again in a few months, regardless of the upcoming Sensation/GS2.

Eaglesblood rom has black notification, and you barely see it. I see it a little in youtube, cwm and bootup. But only in complete darkness.

bro i was seriously thinking what the hell is up with all the "goodbye g2x here i come sensation" **** why make a thread about it! just do it we dont care i mean i feel for the people that have problems with there g2x but if your going to get a sensation good luck and we will see u later!...and man as far as gingerbread goes yea it sux we gotta wait this long but these rumors are out of hand nobody knows anything so what we gota do is just wait it out

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with my G2x and CM7. Also played with the Sensation today, and it didn't really impress me. Sure, Sense 3.0 is nice and all, but I don't see what the hype is about.

Exactly vibrant was way ahead of this...half the roms we got now haven't been updated in a grip.
I'm not having issues like others but still I bet the sensation after 2 months even with locked boot loaders have more development than this...
End of this month is all I'm giving this, then looks like I'm doing the same as everyone else...get the lead buggy device already running what were waiting for...

dude ebfroyo 1.0.5 looks like gingerbread and its sick quick and u have stock camera great rom rite there that will hold me off till gingerbread comes out if it ever does lol

Actually I saw posts on the T-Mobile forums where some people are having lock ups now where they have to remove the battery to get the phone to become responsive again. I haven't heard anything about screen bleed but there are a lot of people complaining about having washed out screens. There's a whole slew of other problems starting to be reported with the Sensation as well. It almost sounds exactly like the same pattern that happened with the G2x right after launch. I'm starting to wonder if something with the T-Mobile bloatware is what's causing these phones to have problems.

How you know half have left? By reading the threads here and then applying the 1/2 left theory, that means TMO sold like 20 devices.
Its dead here because everyone is waiting on the update. Everything else is like dead horse...how do i fix a reboot...wait on you know what. My battery overheats...wait for you know what. My screen bleeds....well so do people hit by cars, but you know what will fix that.
who would put the dev time right now into a new rom when a update is expected "by summer".
My son just called me and told me he's going to buy a sensation. I asked him,, does it have you know what on it? He said..."huh". So much for the really important things in this world.

One of the cool things about my job, is I get to break things. Up until wp7, tearing apart a ROm and finding out what causes problems was an easy thing to do. With the T-Mobile HD2, simply removing the bloatware made that device a better device. It was fun to sit and demonstrate a problem, flash a clean build, and watch the faces of the people around the table as the problem no longer appeared. I dated a TMO dev for a while...it didn't last.
Bloatware iis the #1 cause of problems, followed by drivers. I'd say problamatic apps would be 3rd. The primary reason for rooting is to remove bloatware...IMO.

At three months in the Vibrant wasn't "way ahead of this"...even with the relatively easy porting from other Galaxy S devices. We have good development for a three month old phone. With more devs showing interest daily...hell development is the reason I chose this phone. the slight pause you are detecting is probably the devs waiting for stable drivers from the Gingerbread drop.

I think its t-mobile's fault. until they adopt a new quality over quantity attitude and stop letting manufacturers have a turf battle with each other for the apple's direct competion crown we might get better phones. better as in tried and tested not the numbers war similar to digital camera manufacturers five years ago before ppl knew better. Better phones with even better support as far as updates are concerned.

Ka-Ching. Its all about the quality control. T-Mobile has usually done pretty good, but has been fading a little bit recently.

I'm happy with my phone. I don't realize half of the problems till I read xda leaving post. Go ahead and read Acer iconia thread you will see the same type of post there also. So I will still be here no doubt.

I think you hit the nail on the head. We all know their WiFi Calling and My Account apps eat up data and kill the battery like no other.
I removed those the minute I got root and didn't have any further issues. I made a thread with all the crap Tmo put in there... even that scary LogMeIn remote desktop crap that they (use for support). Why would I want ANY one displaying up my phone on their screen other then me?
I also think that once they re-release the G2x with Gingerbread, the forums will pick back up. Remember you can't buy this phone right now. Most of the initial supporters are jumpers (they buy EVERY new phone that comes out) plus some that had issues and swapped.
You know thats why Tmo isn't selling the Froyo G2x anymore (waiting for GB). I think its a strong move because most companies just want the $$ and would sell a junk item to anyone. Ceasing the orders will speed up the GB update process (so they can continue making $$).

Oh and let me say HHHHHAAAAEL No im not getting a sensation. I think its a piece of crap. Stop the hate G2x threads.

Sense keyboard bug

Hi,
I am sorry if this is mentioned here somewhere, but I could not find anything about it(yes, I did use search button).
So, here it is, My girlfriend bought HTC Desire S few weeks ago, and is using the stock Sense Keyboard(phone in stock condition, not rooted or s-off), and when she's typing, everything goes fine, then she stops typing for a few moments(last time she told me something, took about minute) and then goes back, once she hits the backspace button after this delay, the system shuts down the draft, saving it, but sending her into all messages menu, from there she has to open the draft again to start typing again...
small bug, not a big deal, you can say, but it can get very frustrating after few written SMS... Does anyone here gets same issue? Any idea how to resolve this? I was thinking of getting her different keyboard, e.g. gingerbread stock, which is installable from APK, so ROOT is not needed for that, but still, I'd rather get this resolved and let her use the keyboard she's used to

Tbh, I use handcent anyway. It's pretty much the first thing I install on a new phone / ROM.

Yea, my girlfriend is a little conservative, so she likes stock things, however I tried to install the Gingerbread keyboard, and she got used to it pretty quickly, and was happy, and same thing actualy happened with Hancent, she liked it very much, so I guess issue solved. Now if anyone of you have same issue, Hancent SMS solves it
This thread can be locked as resolved - even tho I still hope HTC will release some hotfix for the stock SMS app

Personaly? I hate it, not sure tho if she would like it, since I bought her a smartphone instead of normal phone, I feel like I know nothing about her, so she might like it

Let me give you advice, get her what she wants, once there will be a bug, she'll be blaming herself, I actually pushed her to get DesireS instead of overpriced iPhone4, and now whenever there is something she doesnt like on the phone, I am the one responsible but thanks god, so far she sees more pros than cons But this bug was pretty annoying tho

O dear, she also wanted an Iphone, as all her friends have one, but, I've pushed her down the Android/HTC route...
I even tried to give her my Desire S so that I could buy myself a Sensation, but I'd scratched it as a result of minor drinking accident so she didn't want it!
Only time will tell.....Fortunately she's coming from a NOKIA so the things that she'll gain should easily out weigh the losses!

I am with ya bro you'll see, Desire S is great phone, feels a way faster than my original Desire, and appart from this one bug she's very happy with it... so as soon as your girlfriend gets this phone, install her hancentSMS to avoid that bug, and she will be happy

I am using batterylife widget & I tried launching it after screen unlock & sense didn't force close

Well since both the G2x and the Optimus 2X suffer from reboots, we can only assume that it is hardware and not software. The LCD panel is generally crap, the phone randomly freezes for multiple seconds...
And its sad that an overclocked Nook Color gets better benches than our G2x's.
My Sensation should be here today (Tuesday) or Wednesday at the latest... We'll see how it performs... You know there is something wrong with a high end phone when you call T-Mobile retention and tell them your phone is rebooting and they say it must be a G2x and immediately ask what other model you would like to replace it with...

Ok, not wanting you to suffer any more than necessary....I reached over and grabbed my Sensation off the nightstand. I do have both. After reading all the hype, again, about the Sensation, I put my sim back in...fired that baby up.
I started reading comparisons about how great the qHD screen is. Processing speed....how you can play, almost every game. How internet was great...blazing speed, etc...
Ok....I really need to give this another shot...after all, I paid for it.
So...turned it on....No Wifi....reboot...No Wifi and no bars...hmmm...checking to make sure I removed the cone of silence....switched over to the LG....no wifi...duh...its off...but...2 bars 4g. Ok..maybe I'm holding it wrong...you know..Death Grip...so I grab a pencial and hold the the LG with just a pencil...4g 2 bars....Sensation....0 bars.

I have a Optimus 2X the AWS 1700 version which was released here in Canada on Wind Mobile and it suffers absolutely none if the issues which I have experienced with my G2X...one thing different I have seen while comparing the version info is my baseband version is dated Jun-05-2011 where as all the g2x's ive been through have a baseband date of March-27-2011
this phone is a beast when it works the way it should!

I MISS MY G2X :( Im trying to come back

I had good experience with my G2x until it rebooted once a day after about a month, I then game it up for the sensation and loved it.
Until I realized I cant foking get wifi in landscape. Ive had 3 already and all have the issue. The 2 different type of screens suck, it has a screen issue, etc.
Basically im finding out that all phones have issues, it just depends on the issues your willing to deal with. ME, Id personally rather see a lil bleed and have a reboot once a day then have wifi Crap and Unreliable. In the next room it dies covering it.
DAAAAAAMN. are the G2xs good yet? Have they been in stock again? Im thinking about exchanging the sensation 3 more times online and seeing if they can give me back a new g2x, because I know that the sensations I recieve will still have this issue.
Im also wondering if those that dont just have a good router N, and I got G, so maybe thats why theres is ok and mine dies completely.
ITS TRUE, THE GRASS ISNT ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE. THAT AND NO DAMN ROOOOOOOOOOOOOT. I DIDNT THINK HTC WOULD DRAG THIS LONG. BUT I THINK THIS PHONE IS WIFI DEFECTED AND IS WORSE THAN ANYTHING THE G2X HAS.

At this point, I am very happy I did not make the jump to the Sensation. You would think finding a cheap, used G2x would not be that hard with all the goodbye G2x threads.

Sensation definitely has more issues than G2x which are hardware and not software.

Hmm good point. Maybe ill sell my sensation, buy a g2x.
Really guys, really. The wifi issue is huge. I didnt have the death grip with data, just wifi. Others dont but I think its cause they have nice new N routers or something. But where my sensation dies just by covering, I could sit on my G2x and it would never lose signal all the way down.
THE G2x to me is starting to look like a better device.

I think im gonna trade on craigslist for one. Cause i cant take this any longer. And no one can post proof theirs does not have the issue. They keep saying you need to trust me. LOL Ive trusted my own results where the mo fo dies.....

Yea u should def try craigslist Idk bout where you're at but in Dallas I've seen quite a few g2xs for trade and some even with cash on top lol so goodluck dude

Selling my G2X and keeping my problem free Sensation. My G2X doesn't have a scratch on it, has never rebooted, has a decent battery (not quite as good as my Sensation) and only has minor screen bleed but in my opinion doesn't touch the color or clarity of my Sensation.
Make me a offer I can't refuse.

My son has a pretty funny thing going on with his...funny to me...not him.
He has a pretty cool case for the Sensation...works great, very minimal. Does not have any Death grip issues...case seems solve this.
He has WiFi Case grip issues In order to get WiFi in his bedroom, he has to remove the case.
So, go to work, put on the case, no problems. Come home from work, remove the case...no problems.

Theres a ground issue.

id rather have a g2x I think. The sensation IMO is better, but the issues are more sever.

lol I never had a issue with reception, just the wifi. I actually put a piece of PT in between my case and phone and it fixed it..... lol Ill post a video later on it cause I want people to see it.

I hit up Youtube and there are tons of Sensation issue videos. Doubt any of those are repairable via software.
G2x + CM7 = heaven. This phone is blazing fast.

What kind of screen issues are you having with the Sensation? I might be interested in trading for my G2X straight up. Mine is relatively problem free. One time I had an issue with my GPS not getting a fix but a reboot fixed the problem. I've never had a single reboot and there is minimal screen bleed.

Great to have you back to the G2x side of the house. I just got into Droid after trading my iPhone4 on Craigslist for the G2x and the dude threw in 150 cash. Definately check CL.

Have you thought about joining the dark force? If you sold the Sensation the difference between it and the SGS2 would be about $150. Pretty much unlimited everything on AT&T is about $82 (plus tax) a month. If you're stuck with an ETF than I'm guessing it would be too pricey to switch. Just something else to ponder.

I am glad I got a less trouble unit and keeping it. I was reluctant to get Sensation after I tested it.
It seems that HTC phones have wifi reception problem from my touch pro 2, nexus one, and to mytouch 4. They have hard time to get signal from upstairs.

this thread has convinced me to pull my g2x off of clist. Kudos sir.. i shall be patient for either cynogen to get a2dp or for the fix/update from LG sometime before i die.
does anyone have an opinion on how the galaxy s stacks up to the g2x? I was giving that some SERIOUS thought.
