I'm a bit disappointed.... - HTC Sensation

Bear in mind that I come from a Desire HD running Cordedroid V6.8...;-))
On the plus, the screen and resolution look great....
But:
- it's somehow less responsive, I feel that on occassion it feels like I really have to bang the screen
- sense 3.0 is laggy
- the keyboard is laggy
- scrolling, whether through sreens or in widgets, isn't smooth...
In honesty, it reminds me of my first stock Galaxy S...

if the 8348235923497834 other threads that rehash these issues are any indication, then no.

Don't worry. It's HTC's rubbish stock ROM. I made a thread about it: Clicky!
Once we get optimized ROMs on here, this thing is gonna fly

I've come from dhd as well, and can honestly say I'm not suffering from any of these problems.
Just like when I got my dhd, my main concern was the screen. I can safely say that I'm more than happy with the screen on the sensation.
To me, this is the DHD with its small niggles (lack of ffc, screen resolution) corrected.

I finally got my hands on a live Sensation today and I see what you're describing, but I'd call it jittery rather than laggy. My Vibrant is laggy, meaning it can take seconds to respond. What I saw on the Sensation just playing for a few minutes is it's not perfectly smooth scrolling between home screens, it's just slightly jerky, or stuttery. I saw it on web pages as well. There was only one widget running on the demo, but I did turn off animation in the settings, and it made no difference.
I wouldn't call it a deal killer, and I assume it's fixable with another launcher, or certainly a tweaked up ROM, but people reporting this aren't nuts, or OCD.
What I was impressed with is the speed of loading Google maps and scrolling around, plus the screen resolution. It's like the speed is in there, but in some parts of the UI it's being tripped up.

Sense 3.0, while having a lot of nice features, just doesn't seem complete/polished yet. In addition, the OS can't really use the dual core to its full potential. Things will get better with updates.

Try using G1 for a month or two and then try Sensation... man that thing is fast.
Although, I do feel it's not as responsive as my old MT4G with CM7 on it.

im still waiting on mine ill get it on monday , im coming from an hd2 running hyperdroid ,take your pick on his builds they are both screaming fast so i knew that couildnt be matched by a stock rom , my wife works there and ive played with the store model a bunch , i wouldnt say lag either just stuttery , but at times its really fast , either way the screen is definately an upgrade along with 1080 p recording and the front facing camera, i think people expect wayyyyy tooo much from phones ...remember they are just phones ,remember where we were just 10 years ago , just think where we will be in another 10 years , i want my next phone to make me breakfast in bed and im settling for no less

Yes... I have played with a Sensation and it is slower then my Desire HD running unity... (sense 3.0)
The Issue is 1.2ghz with 35% more pixels. The dual core does not come into effect at all.
All your lag is based on that... You are BASICLY... getting a slower device until Ice cream comes out...
To those who say that their device is NOT slower then a Desire HD.. Well I call you a fat Liar.

Never had dhd, so no comment, besides the fact that the phone is fast. Yes there is some minimal lag, but eh, I'm sure its software related and will get patched soon, this phone is very well built, love the design too. I'm happy with my purchase.

ive ran sense roms on my hd2 and it seems like any version of sense has a lil lag , really not a big deal

I agree..maybe they got some bad ones. My Sensation doesn't have any lag at all and jittery stuff they mention...No reboots or dead pixels...I suggest they do a warranty exchange or better yet do a return to the store.
Like the guy a couple posts back said...Try a G1 for a week then go back to this and you'd feel silly saying its jarry. lol

Thanks for sharing, and obviously, considering similar posts, it seems to be more of a sofware issue if anything else...
The keyboard-lag was.simply fixed by using gingebread keyboard iso the HTC-one.
Another plus, when it comes to web browsing, I've never had such a fast and smooth experience on a phone !!!

Any chance of getting a port with samsung's latest touchwiz+gb ROM?

As the title says, will we have a ROM with samsung's latest ROM with touchwiz and gingerbread? I am specifically interested in touchwiz because it has gpu acceleration in browser and the UI in general. I came from a Desire in hope that I will get a better phone. Being able to play the latest games is good, but laggy browser, laggy custom launcher and frequent RAM memory leaks makes me want to trade this phone for something else. Its a huge epic fail from Google imo.
Not sure why i posted, might need to get some sleep

I don't see why it couldn't be done.
I would do it if I had the knowledge, but I don't so I'm going to leave it to the professionals.

Are you running stock? Cause my phone is fine with stock I find it more stable then anything else the only thing I hate is the camera app and the ones in the market takes too long to take a picture, beside that as stock android goes is perfect for me at least

While I would also love to see TouchWiz (I had a Vibrant before it, TouchWiz > stock imo), I don't have any lag issues with my Nexus S as I had with my Vibrant. Did you make sure nothing is on in the background eating up CPU and thus causing everything to slow down?

Yes I've seen jonathon's topic, found it after I posted this one, sorry for not searching before
It's not about the cpu usage, that's fine, I'm only having memory leaks (ram). And the browser sucks when it comes to rendering images and flash content, it lags like hell.

Yeah that's what I thought I had the evo 4G supersonic and sense have some nice features but I went with cm7 I like it a lot but after a week the rom will run into bugs and it will drive me nuts like whencalling the proximity sensor wouldn't work right or get stock in alot of apps, so when they announced this phone I waited cause I don't like T-Mobile now is in sprint so I got it and not bugs and I miss the camera app from sense or cm7 but I'm happy tho

Believe me, coming from a Desire you'll feel a huge difference in web browsing. The browser in the stock android isn't gpu accelerated as in HTC Sense, so loading flash content or big pictures is practicably impossible, it slows down the phone so much!
Another issue that is bothering me is that the Nexus S has in reality about 300mb of RAM (~200mb RAM are used by the GPU). The system uses about half of it, so you're left with 150mb RAM to handle the apps, which is extremely low. Especially when you open the browser, you're sometimes left with less then 50mb free, which slows down the phone. So everytime I browse the internet, I have to manually kill the app after I'm done, cause I run into a memory leak.
Also custom launchers (launcher pro, adw and others), when filled with 4x4 widgets and have about 4-5 screens, scrolling is not smooth at all. This is because the UI isn't gpu accelerated as well, its handled by the CPU. So unless you OC it a bit, it will be slugish.
I'm pretty disappointed in certain things after coming from an HTC phone (their UI really kicks ass), but the nexus S has a superb display (be it SLCD or S-Amoled), has far much better hardware, enough internal memory (16gb is enough for everyone imo) and a much better battery life, that I can tell it for sure.
And still, all in all, if I knew nexus has these problems with the RAM and browser, I would've probably bought another HTC Device, maybe the Incredible S. That doesn't mean I'm not satisfied with this phone tho, can't wait for icecream sandwich.

Switch to SGS2?

I have still 10 days to switch from this phone to any other one I chose. I did not even know HTC locked to bootloader for this phone when I got it
I HATE, PURE HATE htc sense but I thought cyanogenmod would help to get rid of it
Reading allot on the forum it looks like the unlocked bootloader can take months and months before htc releases it. And I can't take that long with htc sense
Any of you also think switching to the cheap plasticy samsung galaxy s2 just because it has unlocked/cracked bootloader?
I am still hoping htc will release the unlocked botoloader this week, otherwise I am back to ****ty samsung
I understand people who don't like HTC Sense, but what I don't understand is why not just put a different launcher on the phone (ADW, LP, Go, etc.), disable any HTC sync services, remove any HTC widgets and if you're really picky, put on an alternate lock screen.
I get that people like running Cyanogen because it's a "clean" Android build, but to me it's not that big of a deal. Not to mention, people always say Android has decent memory management. If you're not running any HTC-based apps, Android should manage that memory they use properly and set it as a lower priority than anything else you're running.
Everyone has their opinions, so I'm sure this is all based on preference. To answer your question though, it's all up to you. There are flaws with every device out there, so you really have to pick the lesser of two evils I guess.
HTC Sense takes over 500mb in ram just by idle. And clean android takes about 150mb ram running idle.
Sense takes allot of battery power even when you don't use it all.
Shame on HTC for encrypting the crap out of this phone...

Sense doesn't utilize 500 mb in idle state, I guarantee you this. Be patient, change the launcher, the phone is still great stock. I assure you it's better than SGS2 with the god awful Samsung software, their developers can't write decent firmware for their amazing hardware.

in the used section you should probably have something telling you how much is used for buffers.. add that amount up to the amount free and you should get the real amount of available ram.
also, did you install other apps, are you using widgets.. info info info.

Your comment is irresponsible: do you even haven an SGSII? I have both the Sensation AND the SGSII. I can tell you this: TouchWiz 4.0 is light years better than Sense 3.0. It runs quite smoothly --I didn't even bother installing LauncherPro, which is what I'd done on my 5 other Android phones (the Milestone, the Desire Z, the SGS, the Xperia Arc and the LG Optimus 2X) -- and TW4 certainly doesn't take up as much memory bandwidth as Sense 3.0 does.
Also, you're saying: "be patient with the Sensation, just put a new launcher because SGSII's UI is crap." Ummm... you can also change TouchWiz 4.0, if you want! "Crappy" UI solved.
Please don't jump to conclusions based on stuff you just read somewhere (it pays not to take everything at face value) or because you had a bad experience with another device from the same manufacturer. Also, if you really have a jones for a particular device, just say it. We don't advice that borders on blatant fanboy-ism here. We get enough of that from the Apple fanboys on Engadget.
Anyway, in response to the OP: I have few complaints with the SGSII so far, which is more than I can say for the Sensation. To be sure, the Sensation's build quality is wonderful, it feels solid in hand, in contrast with the build of the SGSII, which feels a bit flimsy -- and I can see the attraction of the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. I am very partial to the stock lockscreen and stock widgets, which is why I've stuck with SenseUI even though it's still too rough.
Meanwhile, the Sensation's display looks washed out and the main Sense 3.0 launcher jitters between screens. Its one bright spot is that, because of its higher resolution, text looks great. That said, higher resolution or otherwise, the Sensation's display can't hold a candle to the SGSII's Super AMOLED Plus display. Heck, the Sensation's display isn't even as good as the SGS's!
What's more, you'd think HTC would have made it possible to customize the functionality of the right and left launcher buttons by now. Instead, we're stuck with that ridiculous "personalize" button. I have no idea why they won't allow customization of those two buttons. I really hope they provide a way to unlock the device's bootloader soon.
Meanwhile -- and like I've already said -- TouchWiz 4.0 actually runs very smoothly. In real world usage on my SGSII, it's about as smooth as LauncherPro, which surprised me quite a bit. Up until I'd gotten the SGSII, I'd made it a habit to buy LPPro Plus for each of my devices. Not anymore. Also, you can customize the app drawer and arrange the apps to suit your preferences. Likewise, many of the stock widgets can be resized. It's a huge improvement that's been implemented by Samsung and they deserve some recognition for that, not derision.
If I had to choose between the 2 devices, I'd definitely go with the SGS. Really, about the only area where HTC is better is how solidly it's built. This isn't to say the Sensation is a bad device -- it's my 2nd favorite android device after the SGSII (and is certainly MUCH better than the O2X) -- it's just that it leaves too much to be desired.

me too thinking of swithing to galaxy s II... firstly bad about this phone is that whenever i use the web browser or just play usual games like angry birds the phone gets hotter... secondly of the speaker on sensation phone is too soft people call me i can barely hear it is ringing... and of course the locked bootloader... that's just my opinion on this phone... and the touchscreen lag... at times...
What's the point of asking this question in the Sensation forum? Obviously people will take offense. Ask it in the SGSII forum if you want to reaffirm your decision or whatever.

Hi i own a Sgs 2 for one month and i just bought me a Sensation as a second phone, my personal opinion is that the Sgs 2 is much better than the sensation in terms of speed/smoothness throughout the whole software, Tw 4.0 vs Sense 3.0, video codec support, Battery life, Camera, Super Amoled Plus vs Slcd, Speaker volume, More Stable. The sensation wins in the design department (for me), Heavier (feels better) and thats my personal opinion cheers

Sense is not only UI.... Contacts / Mail / Messages / Weather / SW Tweaks / Notifications / Exchange integration (company work) ........ Are between... mmmm.... let's say 2 or 3 million times better than samsung or stock sw....
This is far better than SGS2 in terms of usability... and really close in the rest....
Second....
My Sense FLY...
Third....
Is up to everybody to buy one thing or another.... 99% of the people with the sensation are really happy... and If U have the last rom it runs even better (fast fast fast...)
Fourth....
Smooth effect != Fast....
For example
Case 1:
- Press button
- Instant WOW !!! Effect
- 4 secs
- App opened
Total 4 secs + a WOW !!
Case 2:
- Press button
- Simpler effect or no effect (1 sec)
- Instant App opened
Total 1 secs + no WOW !!
Fifth....

I don't want to sound overly negative but this phone...cons
Very little ROM support
Stock is MySense 3.0 which is watered down Sense 3.0 and sucks
The dual cores don't seem to fire like they should...my MT4G was faster and only one core..
Keyboard is flat and hard to type....
Pros....
Hmmm Camera is cool....
some love the tv out....
and it should get 4.0
Love it. I amazing build quality, amazing camera, amazing keyboard. Sense launcher sucks and stock it sucks but with a rom its awesome.

Pros:
Very stable
Easily rooted
Gets even faster once the Sense launcher and Rosie are both gone
Cons:
Only two devs actually working on this device (Undeadk9 and Kornyone)
No stable CyanogenMod builds yet
Stock ROM is almost pure bloatware
Well I think this phone is pretty snappy myself.
Undeadk9 has created a very stable Rom with an aosp feel and minimum sense just for the dialer and camera, which is perfect for me atleast.
Undeadk9 also is the first to get gpu ui rendering on any rom, so the phone is finally using the most out of its great hardware specs. I think the dual cores are perfect already, but once we get ics, I think the phone will fully utilize both cores

Pretty good phone. Easy to root. New version of Bulletproof coming out soon.
I had been using a G1 from the start and took some doing for me to switch. Tried 2 different g2s that didn't work.
I really like the G1 keyboard but am getting used to the 4g slide's.
Only draw back is I work in a roaming area during the week and have trouble getting and making calls. Network problems with T-mobiles "roaming" partner network.

Not quite true - the pre-1.0 version of Bulletproof had hardware rendering set as the default behavior, which I removed for the 1.0 release, and that was a while ago.
--------
I love this device, it's fantastic. Beefy hardware and a nice, smaller package, the capabilities of the device we are opening up is fantastic.
love the keyboard, aftermarket anker battery makes the package, and some nice cases out for it now.
Hardware rendering is a bit buggy, and i'm pretty sure it's a kernel issue that can be addressed - i've been studying this problem since about the middle of august and will start to address the issue in another week or so.
It works fine on the phone itself, but once you start using the TV-out function of the phone it gets weird at times.
If nto using hardware decoding, though, playing video games and watching movies on a TV is a fantastic feature without having to carry around the bulky MHL adapter some phones need, and the screen stays active which means you can use it as a controller for whatever you are playing on the TV.
Love the phone, you probably will too if you pick one up.

Okay, cool. Before this phone came out I wanted it so bad, but for some reason I just forgot about it haha.
And oh, no CM? My I have it installed on my Cliq2 and I love it. The more custom roms the better haha
Edit: nevermind, just looked at the development section and saw there was a CM rom.
Why did someone say earlier not many ROMs? From what it looks like, there's a lot

I like it, Im getting used to the keyboard, but it works. The Bulletproof rom is nice and snappy, feels good in my hands.. its a nice improvement over the 3g slide I used to have.
It has a lot of nice features that will be amazing once rom devs (like Blue6IX) tweek the kernel further
And its one of the few dual core phones with a slide out keyboard.
kornyone got himself added to the CM team by porting the majority of it to this device.
He released a rough alpha version of CM7 for the device, which was freakin' awesome! - just with the release of ICS by Google the entire CM crew is working around the clock to get ICS ported back to older devices, so the CM7 project for this device got shelved for a bit.
Because kornyone was interested in this device enough to go ahead and start getting CM7 ported to it, i'd like to think that puts this phone in a good position to get whatever ICS goodness they are working on.
I'm a bug fan of their work, I run CM7 on my Nook Color and love it - it's amazing what they've done.
For this device, personally, i'm preferring to work with Sense, which I know doesn't appeal to everyone. Once ICS hits the phone I think it'll be important to maintain a Sense option for people who would prefer to keep some of the proprietary technologies they've paid for (like TV-out).
I dunno, I bought a second one of these phones for development purposes, so if that says anything about how much I like it
i like the phone a lot as well, and i just can't get myself to flash CyanogenMod on it, haha(i have a G2 for that ). i personally feel HTC did a good job on this Mysense... even on stock, everything seems to work, and it looks great. granted i haven't used tv-out yet, and it sounds like the playback isn't stellar.... yet. the phone also doesn't seem as blazing fast as one might expect, but it is fast enough. i look forward to trying the next release of Bulletproof because it sounds like Blue61x has slimmed it down, while maintaining stability and all the Sense goodies.
I love this phone. I got it through rma from t mobile, brand new. Took a few to get one that I loved, but I'm much pickier than most. Feels very solid, I think its blazing fast.
I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say it isn't fast. I think this phone is a monster. Fastest phone I've used (mt3g, hd2 with android, mt4g). Notice I've only ever had touchscreen phones. I was in love with the galaxy s2, and thought for sure it would be my next phone. Then I got this thing, and I'm pretty darn sure I won't be switching anytime soon.

Agreed. I own this since a few days. Its fast as hell...I'm using it with cm7, its working pretty well with it, except the cm7 has 720p video recording only. I'm okay with that. Otherwise its one of the best phones with keyboard. The screen resolution tho is a bit lagging behind the current best ones, but at least this phone fits well in the pocket.

I'm thinking about getting this phone when I get my discount next month. I've had a chance to handle it a couple times, really like the feel of the slider, and the camera is just great(especially when compared to other HTC phones before it)!
It also looks like there's a couple great devs working on it. I'm following Blue's threads and I'm very impressed, plus korny seems to be making great progress with ICS.
Any chance someone could post a video overview of Bulletproof 1.1? I'd really like to see it in action
Can anyone tell me how the sound quality is - earpiece and speakerphone (calls and music) compared to HD2?

Personally this phone kicks ass. I have both a Sensation, and HD2 along side this baby. The sound quailty is amazing. I kick back, and relax to some biggie all the time. The screen is WVGA, not as clear as a qHD but is still good. The keyboard is much better than the Q2. I need a hardware keyboard since I text the Wife constantly, and its never let me down. The Duel Core shows off its power along side the 220 gpu. Speaker is load, performance is gooood. I use this over my sensation all the time.
But there's not many ROMs for it Xo there's more ROMs by the banished one on rootzwiki. Bulletproof is a good mysense rom, but there's a lot of neet roms. Where getting a true sense 3.0 rom soon. This phone is a must buy.

The stock Sense version is true Sense 3.0, not sure what you mean by this?
Maybe you are thinking Sense 3.5?
The phone is a beast on the spec sheet, but the stock rom is a bloated mess. If you're willing to root it, and freeze some of the bloat, stock isn't bad.
The keyboard is not as good as the MT3GS's, but I'm sure that was a tradeoff for the better specifications.
Basically, if you want a high end phone with a keyboard, there really just aren't many alternatives. I'm hoping we get some sort of ICS ROM (either cyanogen or HTC), as that'd extend the phone's life at least another year.
To Lifesorrows and Johnycat26,
Thanks a lot for the info - I just ordered the phone. I'm really impressed with Android on the HD2, but I really miss a hw kbd and having a great camera (and the extra ROM and RAM don't hurt either!)
To Blue61x, maybe he means a regular Sense ROM not the T-Mo modified "My-Sense" (for example w/o shortcuts on lock screen)?
I just got this phone today! I am loving it. So far. The hw keys a little hard to work with, that's about it though. Otherwise.this thing is a beast!! I love it. Came from a SGS4, big difference. That phone was so slow!!.o waving bye bye to it now. Had.a mytouch 4 h before and mt3h slide before that..o also had a cliq .and a.blackberry 9700. ........

Leaked video with Sense 4.0

Hey guys,
Something just got posted on a tech site. The HTC Ville with a short impression of Sense 4.0!

Definitively cool but looks a bit laggy.
Cheers

Thanks for posting. Seems to be all over the place now, including PocketNow, Engadget etc etc.
I really hope the phone in question is running an S3 SoC like our Sensation because it looks DOG slow. I know poeple will say it's only a test build, but even so, if that's what the S4 (Krait) has to offer I'm deeply disappointed. And qHD resolution? Really? Eeeek. Why no 720p? Chip not up to it?
Apart from bluetooth 4.0, more RAM and a better camera sensor I don't see too much of an improvement in terms of hardware. Still got a big bezel. Not sure HTC are doing the right thing here - the hardware is enough of an improvement to make people who have just got a Sensation on a two year contract feel a bit frustrated, but not significant enough to make those people who are a year into a contract trade up. Hope this isn't their flagship for the MWC in Feb ; ) If this IS an S3 chip then I guess Krait must have been delayed and this is just fodder to buy HTC time. It'll be interesting to see full details at the MWC : )
Is it me or does showing off the phone's IMEI number etc seem a bit foolhardy of whoever filmed that video? Surely HTC will be able to work out who had that prototype recently and kick their butt?? Unless HTC leaked it themselves I suppose...but why would you show such laggy software?

Well, including the "working" sounds in the backgrounds. It looks like this is just recorded somewhere in a HTC office. And without him acting nervously or something might this be done on purpose? And indeed the software seems to be unfinished.
Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the software info screen in the video. If really this will be Sense 4.0 (which I doubt), I won't buy HTCs for a couple of months/years.
menu animations look laggy guessing they will improve
overall HTC ville looks kinda sensation-ish and yeah spec wise it isnt that much of an upgrade
sense 4.0 looks laggy as hell but thats how the first leaked version of ICS sense 3.5 used to be as well so i think we got nothing to worry about
cept AOSP looks hotter lol
It runs at Android 4.0.1 as you can see. Remember our Sense 3.5 builds with ICS 4.0.1? Very laggy.. like this one.
I guess we should wait for the final version and then judge.
Btw, I find it a pretty sexy device.. Thin, nice specs (although it could be better ofcourse..) and Sense
I only hope that HTC will optimize their software for the SoC's so it'll run utterly smooth.
the font on the clock widget is ugly as ****!! the corrent clock is better.

Looks good, specs are not bad but why the hell doesnt it have an 720p display instead of qhd like the htc rezound I hope this is wrong lol

Agreed : ) Looks like some of the imitation 'sense clock' widget skins in the Market ; )
Some sites are stating that the Ville has the Krait chip in it. If that's true it's supposed to be up to 60% faster....in which case either the firmware on that device in the video is truly awful or Krait might be a let down. Really hope it has the same chip as the sensation.
Kinda weird about the screen resolution. Does that mean the Rezound went too far for the current performance of Qualcomm's SoC so HTC had to back it down a bit?
By the way, the reason I care about the lag, even in an early test build, is that I was one of those people who got bitten in the race to offer VGA screens a few years ago. At the time the hardware in my Touch Pro just wasn't good enough to push that many pixels around (vs QVGA) so I was stuck with a fairly sluggish device for a looooong time (although to his credit NRGz worked miracles with his ROMs for it : ). I can't help thinking manufacturers are in the process of doing the same to us again at the moment with the transition from WVGA to qHD and HD screens. Compared to my HD2 my Sensation is clearly faster most of the time, but in certain cirsumstances the gap feels pretty slender.
I'd love it if performance over MHL to a tv was better - it really will be great when we can truly use our smartphones as mini pcs connected to a tv/monitor at 720p+, with a bluetooth media keyboard controlling things and a Micro SDXC card with enourmous amounts of storage.

Let just use one thread

Speed of Sensation roms

I've had my sensation for a while now, with numerous tweaks on it and running a custom rom (Android Rev right now, others from time to time).
But last night i picked up my wife's Desire (not HD, original) which is also tweaked and has (I think) LeeDroid on it and was more than a little shocked to find that, if anything, its smoother and more responsive than my Sensation. Swishing thru menus, firing up apps and scrolling thru homescreens was noticably better.
Neither phone is overclocked by the way, but have v6 on them.
now I haven't tried every Sensation rom out there, but Id be amazed to find one that was significantly faster than the one's Iv tried using to date, that also still has Sense. Given the comparative specs of the sensation and desire, even allowing for the higher res screen on the sensation, I was a little bit miffed.
i just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on why there's such a difference?
I've had a Desire, Desire HD and Incredible S - all with custom ROM's, but non of them is as fast as my Sensation.

I have no idea why, but I noticed the same here. My Incredible S FLIES, the sensation... little delays, I've gotten used to it but it still bothers me. I would think it has something to do with being "dual-core" but I've really no idea why!
Are you guys running an ICS ROM?

I'm running ICS with 3.25 FW and has no delay what so ever. Apps open faster, Sense widgets, like weather is faster.

how many apps are installed on each phone? how many were running in the memory at the time of your "test"? i've had htc inspire before and wouldn't compare the two. wait for ics to roll out as well, since it should help optimize things better.

Yep, using InsertCoin. 100% sure ICS is faster than GB. I got longer delays in GB, still get them in ICS but it's not that bad. Just one in a while, here and there opening something will delay a couple seconds.
As for the other guy mentioning the apps and everything, pretty much the same. How many in the memory <- that I didn't test.
My old Samsung Galaxy S on ICS (Onecosmic port) was much more responsive and smoothy than HTC (I've tested four ICS roms), but apps are running faster on HTC. Only drawer, switching screens or doing something at the level of rom user interface are slower.
Doesn't matter I'm using ICS with or without sense. I haven't try GB.
Yeah, im running android rev 6.2.1. Ive run the v6 supercharger script and a few other bits and pieces. I mean the sensation experience is great compared to when it first popped out of the box. But it had been ages since I picked up the Desire and I was really taken aback by how smooth it was.
