CWM backup/restore - Samsung Infuse 4G

General question out of curiosity about CWM backup and kernels.
When you make a backup with CWM on one kernel, and then you change or update your rom AND kernel, both kernels are voodoo, and you either dont like it or something is a mess with it. So you decide you want to restore from your backup, will it change your rom AND kernel back to what it was? Or is the backup/restore function ONLY for the rom part?
Thanks in advance. Just trying to expand my knowledge of this realm.

Someone? Anyone?

[Q] Can Clockworkmod restore a backed up made by Amonra

Dear XDA members.
I am using Amonra 2.2.1b, then i wanna to use CWM 3.1.0.0, but i don't know can CWM work with a Backed up made by Amonra.
Have anyone can help me explain this.
Many thanks for interesting in.
No. If you back up with amon you can only restore that backup with amon. Same with clockwork. If you back up with clockwork you can only restore that with clockwork.

Btw. I recommend staying on amon from what I have heard clockwork hasn't been wiping phones correctly and causing problems...

You got it. Wish it was harder but its' that easy. You can find the stock unrooted version in the dev forum. Happy rooting.
Thanks!

[Q] If i flash backwards and forwards???

Is it possible for me to flash a 2.2.2 rom when i am on 2.3.3 ? is that bad at all???? and can i restore back up??
Don't worry. It won't ruin anything. As long as you have Clockwork Recovery, you should be fine. Be sure to NANDROID first though!

You will need to provide more information for people to be able to help you. Can you at least tell us what ROM & kernel you are using?
Rom stock 2.3.6
Kernel: bhudhven stock kernel with lagfix and cwm

We're pretty much running the same stuff. I'm on a stock ROM with bhundven's subtly modified kernel. I'm using version beta 2d, currently, but I've not experienced any lag - scrolling or otherwise - with any of the versions I've run.
Are you running anything that's possibly eating a lot of CPU and/or RAM?
Go to the home screen
Hold the "Home" button down until the "Recent" window pops up
Press the Task Manager button
Is there anything running?
My free ram is 152 average
I thinky this was cause nandroid backup... :-\
Maybe I'll will redo it again
BTW my phone is debloated too

Yeah, if you did a backup then maybe a restore, it's possible something restored that is causing the issue. If you start clean, make sure you do a factory data reset before the install, then wipe the cache partition and the Davlik cache after the install. Once you have the ROM on, flash the kernel, then debloat. Double-check after that to see if Voodoo lagfix is enabled. Once that is done, see how it's working.
Does The backup had save my settings right?

Good question. I know it saves user data and apps, I think, but I've never done a restore so I'm not 100% sure. I want to say yes, but I need someone with knowledge and experience with Nandroid restores to chime in here.
I'll try it when i get home ;-)

I tried restore in CWM,
after that,
it's still lagging :/
Can you please provide more information then, as best are you can?
Did you flash any tweaks, themes, anything else?
If the phone is lagging still, even after the restore, then you might as well load a new rom. Do it from a clean wipe.
nope,,
I JUST RESTORE MY PHONE USING THIS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
BECAUSE I USED THE NANDROID RESTORE IN CWM AND IT DIDN'T WORK AND BOOT LOOPED MY PHONE

CWM Question

Hey guys, so I have a question for all you that flash lots of roms.
I am currently using StockRom, but I would like to try Sky-ICS.
However, I have my current rom setup exactly how I like it, so if I do a backup through CWM or the backup manager app, and I don't like Sky-ICS, will restoring my rom bring everything back exactly how it was? Or will I have to re do my settings, and re download my apps?
It will be just like it was when you left if. That's one of the beauties of the backup. That and it can save your butt.
