How to access advanced swype settings - T-Mobile LG G2x

So ocassionally, I'll get no automatic spacing in swype and it won't let me disable it by swyping from the space bar to del. I've looked up how to disable it and it says that I can do it from the advanced settings by tapping the swype button in the lower left corner, but when I tap it, it takes me to a screen that says it's not sure what I wanyed to do and gives me options for hints or a tutorial, but nothing for a settings or.advanced setttings menu. I also tried pressing and holding, but that just gives me hints. Can someone tell me how to access the advanced menu with the swype button instead of going to phone settings and disabling it from there?

Push lower on the swype button. The (i) and the S are different entities according to the GUI.

Thanks for replying but it doesn't seem to make any difference were I tap on the swype button. They same prompt comes up asking for tips or tutorial. No advanced setting.

Okay, using it right now, there is a button on the lower righthand corner that says options. That will take you to swype settings.

This is driving me mental! How do you turn off autocomplete with keyboard??

I have deselected it under settings / input. But it still tries to fill in bloody words for me when i am using a keyboard with all the keys i need! What the hell is it trying to do? I find it physically impossible to type anything without it constantly putting in random words!!! AHHH!!!!
Ok. I'm ok. Any ideas?
Haha no clue, but it does get annoying. I'll keep an eye on this thread and look through the user manual to see if I find anything.
Open the on-screen keyboard, tap the little arrow next to it then select "Touch Input Settings"
Clear the tick for Spell Correction and your problem should be solved
I've just been pressing FN + Space, and choosing "ABC" from the menu.

How to Change Launcher Icons

Is there a way to change the 4th default launcher icons without using a 3rd party app?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
As far as I know you can only change the first three..
Use a better launcher, or just deal with how much the TW launcher sucks.
you need some way to get into your app drawer
Stupid autocomplete, I meant the 4 icons in the launch bar. Where are the settings to change them?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
ok so you dont know how to change any of them? the 4th one is permanant so you can get to the app drawer. the other 3 can be changed by
open app drawer>press menu>a)if you see an option that says edit select edit, b) if not go to next step >press view type> select customizable grid> press menu> select edit> move icons as you like including the dock icons> press menu> press save> now if you wish you can change the view type back to the one you prefer with the app drawer open by hittin menu> view type.
Thanks. I figured they buried the option somewhere I just couldn't find it.

there are a lot of things hidden on this phone. there is a big list of hints and tips somewhere for the captivate that will tell you how to do many things. two usefull tricks are..
1 if you turn the auto brightness of the screen off you can set the brightness by holding a finger on the notification bar for about 2-3 seconds until the pulldown goes away, you can slide left to right to get the desired brightness, i used to use the power control widget and wondered why samsung didnt put a brightness toggle in the pulldown untill i discovered this, now my home screen has one less widget.
2 on the swype keyboard you can access a directional pad by swyping from swype help key (blue "S" with a little "i" over it) to the key that says "sym" on the captivate the samsung keyboard also had a d-pad by long holding the "?123" key but they took it out in 2.2
between those things (especially the d-pad) the phone is more enjoyable
Thanks Dani897. Little things like this help so much.

[Q] Where is this search button?????

According to the settings to quickly access a certain app you have to press the search button and a letter. But there is no search button. I pressed the genius button and letter but nothing. so can anyone explain this?
Not sure what the manual says, but you can search for Apps (or anything else) by going to Google Search widget (make sure you have either "all" or "apps" selected in the little dropdown under "g"), and start typing the letters.
Not sure if there is any dedicated search button (unless you configure shortcut keys).
The Motorola Milestone supported this. But then it had a proper search button. Perhaps the software build accidentally left these settings in despite not having such a button on the keyboard.

I doubt this kind of things could be accidently left out. Though I might be wrong.

That was an oversight. Manual also says you can customize lock screen like with Sensation.. Both are oversights, as un-rooted users cannot do either. I am perm rooted with S-OFF and re-mapped my Genius keys to traditional Google Search and I am able to actually use Quick Launch now..

Left <=> Right Change of Soft-Button

Is there a way to change the soft buttons left/right? (I want to have the back-button on the right side). On the HUAWEI P8 or Mate there is a option in the Settings to choose which functions the soft buttons sould have. Anay way to do this on the Idol 3?
It's a developer option "RTL". Go to settings, then go to the bottom of settings list, tap about phone, look through lost for build number, tap the build number multiple times till it says you are now a developer, then tap back arrow till you get back to your Main settings, then scroll back down to the bottom of the settings list, you will notice a new setting option that says Developer Options, tap that setting button, then scroll through the list and look for RTL, tap it once. Problem fixed.
If you are on a custom Rom then let me know which Rom and I will help you.
Thanks, but this turns the whole phone to "Right To Left" not only change the two Softkeys

There is a way, though it requires root, xposed and the app Gravitybox (Which has loads of diffrent useful mods, including back and recent buttons reverse option. though you can download a app for just this purpose)

In App Menu button

Idk if you guys are coming from a note 4 or just a general non s6 or s6 edge... but I didn't know they got rid of the long press menu... i just found out that if you long press the back button, it sort of acts as an in App Menu button. Just sharing a tip for those who may not know.

I have an app (maybe multiple) that does not have an in app menu button built in and therefore requires a menu function from the OS. I used to long press the back key in my LG G4 to get into the menu, but can't figuring out how to do it in my video surveillance app on my S7 Edge. If I short press the bottom left (two squares button), the open apps come up. If I long press the bottom left, it tries to take me into split screen mode (which this app doesn't support). If I press the bottom right key, the phone goes back to the desktop. Same results yield in long pressing the bottom right button. Does anyone know how to get into in app menus that do not have a menu button? My Uniden Guardian app requires this menu to exit out of the application or it will show in the notification area in standby mode. The only other way I can exit the app is doing a force close.

NM, it must be specific to my Uniden Guardian app... The long press back key works in other apps.
Any answer yet?
If I long press the back button in any app, I am immediately taken back to the home screen and once in the home screen, the home screen drop down items pop up. Any solutions for this?
Maybe it's carrier specific? The long-press back button brings up the in-app menu in virtually all of my apps.
On my Sprint GS7E, longpressing the Back button brings up the in-app Menu function.

I have found a few apps that close when long pressing the back, and some that show the menu properly. I had to find another super simple (no permissions required) grocery list app since Simple Grocery List was one that would close.
Here is the fix I figured out that works in this situation and it would be good to pass this on or write up a document.
Go to phone settings => Accessibility => Dexterity and interaction => Assistant Menu.
Got this from galaxy s6 edge forum have an app with need of menu button and it now work with this work around hope this helps for now my phone is not rooted.

I'm seeing this too in some apps. Including XDA Premium (Tapatalk). Holding back for the menu seems to think I'm tapping the back button. The app goes back through the previous pages, then quits.

Assistant Menu gives you a few options like home button back button and also a menu button that you can use whilst in any app to open the menu as the long press back button doesn't work on some apps it's just a work around that does work

The assist menu button is for apps that require a physical menu button to access the menu on any apps. It is used for apps that don't have the 3dot menu option it's just a work around for apps that don't have that option or that not have been updated for marshmallow
Unfortunately doesn't work on apps made with pre Android v4.0 SDK I use an SMS parsing app for bank notifications/login codes and it hasn't been updated since 2 years but works perfectly, just the settings are missing.

I found this discussion was very helpful, but it took me some time to work it out.
When the Assistant menu button is switched on (Settings - Accessibility - Dexterity and interaction), a blue symbol with four white squares appears. If this symbol is pressed, a menu pops up with a selection of available tasks. This includes (on page 2/4) a button called "More options". This is the extra Menu button that should be accessible from a long press of the Back button, but is not available in some apps.

Not happy with this at all. Whats wrong with the developers? Why take functionality away? Should be adding more! Why change things for the hell of it? Appart from just being plain annoying, buying the latest S7 edge phone out, and looking forward to trying ps1 emulation out, and cant use ePSXe save function now, or any app menu...
Hello All,
I found a fix. settings==>system==>Buttons==>Home Button. Change the action to open/close menu. or any of the buttons you see there. This works like a charm and if it's a button you dont normally use then even better cause you wont forget which one you chose.
Grilo.

Hello All,
I found a fix for this. settings==>system==>buttons==>Home button. I chose to change the double tap to open/close menu. You can choose any button on this page and then access the menu.
Hope this helps

This worked for me. It floats a circular object and you tap this and it gives you some quick one touch functions, one of those is the 3 dots in a vertical line, you tap that and your app will then behave as if you'd tapped a physical MENU button.
Thanks for the tip.
