sim cards ?? - Thunderbolt General

ok so sim cards are dieing from what people are saying. i am on tbolt #3 and my original sim card . so i have 2 sim cards just chilling should i put a new one or just keep rocking out my first one everything seems to be working ok fresh root and rom but what can i do with the other sim cards and are they only for my phone or could someone else use them and if so i got 2 brand new sim cards for sell or trade lol

You tryin to sell something that us free, and if you sim is working why would you wanna change it?besides that you would have to register the sim card under your number, you got some kinda access to vzw's system?
sent from my bamfed out bolt

I didn't know they were free I was just saying, but you have to call an 800 number to set up the sim (activate) just like you had to do to your bolt when you first got it. Why would they send a new sim card with each new phone? Knowing I already had one? verizon and the insurance company. you never know a new 1 might be better my data speed just a thought?

Your sim has nothing to do with speed. You can't sell something that is free.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Why are people paying for them if they are free? Ain't nothing free

The 3rd party stores charge a little to cover postage but corp stores dont
sent from my motorola V60 runnin' bamf gb sense 3 pr 4 for the TB

Id call VZW and see if they would replace it.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

They don't always send out a new sim card with replacement phones. They sometimes do it to eliminate the possibly of a bad sim.

My friend is currently on Virgin with the Optimus V i believe? It is a pretty good Android based phone, but like an above poster mentioned there are a couple new Android phones coming out on virgin that you will probably want to take a look at =D

Need help!!!

So i bought my girl a sidekick 4g because it was $100 on craigslist and seemed like a good spare. Today she decided to use it and her data wasnt working so she called t-mobile and they said it could not be used due to fraud. So... How do we make it possible to be used?
Edit: Data works now...but no texts or calls. I really don't wanna be down the $100 I spent on this POS.

That's what I was afraid of hearing. Funny that it took about 24 hours to kick in. What's worse is that the phone was in the box sealed so I just thought they were in need of holiday cash. The good news is that I might have found a solution but I'm gonna have to root. Man oh man... If I can just get it to work then I will not have to be down. I guess even breaking even at this point would suffice.
U got a proper sim card in it? U can still use wifi with it being sim card less

Yes. Her other phone is a myTouch 4G and she just wanted something to change out to when her battery died (which is all the time) and was bored. She was still gonna use it as a phone.
I have never heard of tmo doing this. If you have another 4g phone. .. just use that to add 4g data to that particular line. then put that sim card into the sidekick.
Tmo uses gsm, not cdma and such like verizon and sprint. they have no way to see if phone is stolen or not, they can't block it like like esn numbers on verizon and sprint.
good luck
just have to have a 4g card with your daughters sim in it, call in, tell them you want 4g data on that account.
that's it. I did it. it works,
good luck

Its because its a stolen phone. I would hope if they stole your phone TMobile would make it harder to profit from that theft.

No it wasn't reported stolen from what the rep said. They said it was fraud. I asked for more details but i couldnt get more. After doing careful research, T-Mobile will block IMEI's only when it is beneficial to them. That does not mean protection for customers though.

(T-Mobile) Can I cut my parents' SIM card to Micro SIM for use in the One S?

My parents have old dumb phones right now. I opened two new lines on our family plan (so four total now) and got two One S's for my parents to use so they don't have to wait until the end of the year. They want to keep their numbers (SIM right?) but their SIM is regular size, can I cut them down to Micro SIM and use it then?
As for the two added lines I opened to get the One S, i'm going to take over one with my Galaxy Nexus and the fourth one I'm going to cancel with an ETF in two months.
you can cut it down to size yourself, Just be careful not to cut the gold plated chip.
You can also buy Sim cutters for cheap online.
And if you ring tmobile, they will send you some out for free and transfer the number(s) you want to keep onto the new sim
Their should have been a micro sim in each box. You just tell your provider you have a new micro sim and they can transfer it over. You just tell them the number on the micro sim.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
if i tell them to transfer the numbers from the old lines (1,2) to the new micro SIMs (lines 3,4). What will happen to the numbesr for the lines 3 and 4?
Just give them the number you have to the micro sim you want. I don't think the order matters.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
Unless you opened up new numbers just to get the phones???
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
Anyway it shouldn't matter. You are going to do an ETF anyway. Just say you want this sim with this number and that sim with that number.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
Yes you can cut your SIM but you have to be very careful.
But as others said, if you purchased the phone from T-Mobile, call them or go to a store, they should swap it for a MicroSIM for free.
If you didn't buy the phone at T-Mobile, you can always buy a MicroSIM for few bucks.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
If you want to cut them which avoids all the ordering new cards, number swapping etc just Google 'micro sim template'

Samsung galaxy s 2 skyrocket on att gophone???

I'm going to get a used Samsung galaxy s 2 skyrocket in a few, and I was wondering if I could get att's gophone service on it? I would love the 50 dollar a month service but it seems a little bit too good to be true. Anybody have any info or tips for me? Or will this work out? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my HTC_Flyer_P512_NA using xda app-developers app
I'f I'm not mistaken you must have a specific type of gophone sim card for it to work, like one out of a prepaid smart phone through them. I highly recommend looking at straight talk. They have a BYOD "Bring Your Own Device" program where they will sell you an AT&T compatible sim card with unlimited everything for $45.00/month. That's what I'm using and my service is phenomenal, no dropped calls, get service in building's etc....
And straight talk is cheaper...how is their internet speeds? Fast or slow, because its not a straight talk phone so I'm assuming that the speeds will be kept at a minium.
Sent from my HTC_Flyer_P512_NA using xda app-developers app
I use straight talk with my skyrocket and I average between 3-7 mbps.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Cool, that's good enough for me. I did the math and att has got to be crazy for what they want with a smartphone plan. 50 dollars a month for 250 min for talk, unlimited text and 1gb of data for 50 a month??? Crazy! Thanks again for the straightalk suggestion! I just ordered the att sim card for it.. but how did you get your phone unlocked so you could get straight talk?

You do not have to unlock your phone to use it with straight talk because the sim card you purchase through them is for att compatible phones so it's the same bands minus lte. When you get the sim card in the mail there will be instructions on how to activate the sim and add an apn.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
You are a life saver bro! Now I don't have hunt att down to get a unlock code. Thank you for this info! Can't wait to get my Sim card i'm the mail!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
just make sure you remove the trakfone proxy because some services reject access to it, causing the app(s) to return network errors and become unusable.
Thanks for the heads up. So not putting the proxy number in it won't effect the overall service right? Like the texting and calling?

ATT sends HTC One XL without LTE Sim Card

Wife just got an HTC ONE XL.... came with a sim card.
Had a hard time getting it activated... but eventually ....
After playing with it for a couple hours i found that it would not send SMS images.
Finally did a chat with ATT and was informed that the account had been changed to a Pay Data plan and that the Sim card listed was not a LTE sim card.
Hard to fathom that 2 people before never made that connection and that they actually sent an LTE phone without the proper SIM card.
Said it will take 3 days to get the LTE card when the phone was sent overnight.

AT&T never informed me that they had no 4g in our area. Needless to say I found out the same way you did. They're really "good" for that.

Turns out that everything was wrong...
1) it is an HTC One VX not HTC One LX
2) ATT only uses one type (different sizes) of SIM cards and they are 3g/4g and LTE compatible.
3) The person who activated the phone, put the phone on a Pay per use plan (not LTE)...
4) The rep I just got off the phone with, is fixing that... temp 200mb LTE plan until the Unlimited LTE plan is put back on, Credit to cover the cost and fixed a number of other issues (like turning me on paperless billing).
So I was in the wrong thread... sorry bout that.
Wow I read that completely wrong lol. Time for me to go to bread.

As a former employee I used to get mistakes like this from all sorts if co workers. Hated it. I knew how to fix it, just couldn't tell. Also you know have an LTE sim card when the 9th and 10th number is 25 or 27
