Use my G2X as a Wireless Extender - T-Mobile LG G2x

Wireless tethering is cool, but I'd like to keep WiFi enabled, and therefore I'll be using my phone as a WiFi Extender
The signal on my receiver is bad, so I'd like to use my Phone to amplify that signal
If I can make my own Hotspot, but WITHOUT disabling WiFi, it would be great
Let me know if it can be done
I found an app here:

But I can't find that program anywhere
Thanks in advance

Here is another app that I found:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
I tested that program but it still disables WiFI and enables 3G
Is that possible to do activate Tethering using my existing WiFi signal?

Tethering and WiFi Extender are two different concepts. tethering is easy, havent heard of a method of using the phone as a Wifi access point to an existing network (aka extender)

Ok
Let me know if you find a solution though

It's impossible. The radio cannot recieve a wifi signal and send a new one at the same time. It has to switch modes so to send a new wifi signal it has to stop recieving an existing one. The radio built into the phone doesn't support such a thing.

APNdroid has no function on rooted R2BA024

regardless of apndroid status, 3G traffic is transmitted.
does anybody has the same problem?
using rooted R2BA024 with apndroid 2.1.3
This is no firmware issue this is O2 Germany Issue
O2 Germany accepts faulty APN and let you go online anytime! So if you don't want internet traffic simply disable MMS&INTERNET or give o2 a call and let them disable it for you!

but why did it worked before the update?
updated o2 anything, too?
SMODA Widget disables internet like the button in preferences. it also prevents mms beeing received.

I dont really think that it worked like it should. maybe it worked, but you was still connected to internet sometimes (we speak of 3G! on 2G it will work as i know, but not sure!)
I had a discussion with o2 some days ago because of internet costs about 90€ just for 7 hours my GF has forgotten to disable internetconnection in settings until flatrate was activated.
O2 says that they want to be userfriendly, so they enabled access for ALL APN-SETTINGS even if they are not right!
And now what? We have to pay 90€ and i immediatly quit the new contract again. Bad for o2
I just wanted to warn you to have an eye on that

SMODA Widget is not as goog as i thought. I reads one the page that this app is using undocumented internal functions... some other apps know these functions and are using them too, therefore, SMODA cannot lock internet traffic securely!

Questions on Data 3G/2G

My cousin is looking for a smartphone and wish not to use data (3G, 2G).
He asked me for a recommendation and I was thinking about Nexus S.
Since I've only used smartphone as PDA/MP3 player, I don't really know how Nexus S handles data.
I've had tried a Nexus One before, and even with Data-3G turned off, the phone still used 2G sometimes.
You should be able to just turn off the mobile network in wireless settings.

Hello
You don't have to turn 3G off just turn off the phones ability to use data connection. Then the phone won't use any data connection via the mobile network.

That's what I did when I was trying out the Nexus One.
But somehow, it managed to use data (through 2G) as I'm sure I had mobile data (3G) turned off.
And there's no way to turn off 2G afaik.
Edit: In other words, is the same thing gonna happen on Nexus S?
Can someone kind enough please try to have data turned off overnight and see if any data was used?
No data is used when data is turned off. Been traveling over the holidays and only turned it on when i needed it. When it was turned off all the data. Meters said 0.
3G and 2G is just the 2 different technologies / frequencies that tje phone use.

Anybody know why i can't access my 4G LTE or HSPA+ network on this rom? It's really weird because when i'm home, i have access to 3G, but as soon as i leave home, no data connection is made. I have full bars in an area where LTE works really well but it doesnt want to connect to it? Are there any known problemw ith this rom?
Try flashing different radios from the dev forum or try changing apn.

can't tether - please help indentify the problem

Hi all,
Im having problems with tethering with my sensation and it is frustrating me. I've tried it with 2 laptops and also with my desktop and still no success. The wireless devices do recognize the phone with no issue and showing me full reception, but yet i cant browse and it seems something is blocking it.. is it something that has to do with the phone or is it that my cell provider blocking it?
here is a picture to demonstrate the problem. As you can see, the phone is identified with full reception and telling me it is connected, but theres the yellow mark which indicate a problem and it says "no internet access" although i am connected.
It is like that with every device i try to tether

P.S
If it matters, then im using the Eleganicia sense 4 rom although this problem also happened with sense 3.6 roms as well
shame there are no replies as i'm having the same problem. it also happens with bluetooth tethering. All connects/pairs fine but no internet. I have mainly been trying to use this with my Nexus 7 for when i'm out and about. If it helps, i'm with Orange UK.
Any help would be appreciated!
Hi,
In order to set up tethering,I went to settings/more/tethering & portable hotspot/portable WiFi hotspot settings/ and then set my password and SSID
Turn on hotspot and mobile data, find my device, connected using the password, and everything worked.
Not sure if you missed any of those steps.

Wifi calling on ics with magicjack

Just wanted to see how this is actually working if anyone else can figure it out cuz wifi calling doesnt work supposedly with our phones. Im on code named android 2.0. I download magic jack app. Register a number with it. Turn wifi on and take sim card out of my phone. Im just running wifi at this point on ics with hefe kernel and through magiv jack app it still makes and recieves calls. How is this possible even without the tmobile app installed which wouldnt work anyway
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
they don't work the same way. Viper will work, but native wifi calling won't work because kineto_gan isn't properly integrated into the kernel.
Is it the same number as your tmobile number though? that's the benefit of the Tmobile app, is that you can talk on wifi or network with the same phone number. there is a million wifi/data apps that work on the phone, but you need a second number. I use fongo which gives you voicemail and everything and is free since I'm on a txt only plan, if I need to make any phone calls of length, I use my fongo number instead.
I used this without the sim in there without the wifi calling app with ics. Yeah i get that its just through wireless but its really the first program to let a number ring with no service. **** like skype links to username etc.
