Haven't we already gone over the fact that you are trying to run US based firmware outside the country and it won't work right?
Yeah dude. Enough is enough. What you're looking for wont help you. A Fascinate radio on a Mesmerize would be idiotic, and the Showcase EB11 on top of that would just be even more worthless.
Just let it go. You should've bought a phone for your country, from your carrier.

Hi All,
I have just purchased the Samsung Infuse 4G as my new secondary device after my SGSII and I am wondering what the substantial differences are between the Rogers and the ATT version of this device, keeping in mind that I am in Canada and am on Rogers?
What ROMS CAN and CANT I flash? What Kernels CAN and CANT I flash?, etc, etc, etc...
Please advise as I used to have the Galaxy S I9000M (Canadian version of the International version) and I was able to flash International ROMS, etc... Can this be done on the Infuse 4G without losing my proper service bands, etc?
Thanks for the replies...
Galaxy S lable, Gingerbread that i know of.

Im sorry but I dont understand wht you are trying to tell me. What is "Galaxy S lable" and what do you mean "Gingerbread that I know of"? If you mean that the ROGERS version already comes preloaded with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and NOT with Froyo 2.2.1 then that I already know.
Please advise...
Well the Canadian Infuse is a Galaxy S device and are is not even though it is the same device. So this just proves that Galaxy S is just a label.
and the android version. those seems to be just the major differences.

Thank You again for your reply Optimus but what I am really wondering is if I am able to flash "ATT based" custom ROMS, etc after I root and install CWM. I know the rooting proceedure for the ROGERS version of the Infuse 4G is different but is the actual "firmware"? Will I mess up the device by flashing it with ROMS created from ATT firmware, etc?
Does anyone know?
i dont think it would matter since we are running your roms on your phones. Gingerbread. but i mean you can always ultimate unbrick if something goes wrong. so its worth a try. and just a hint. att roms are froyo based
From what I can tell you,
We have Gingerbread 2.3.3 we do not have HDMI output. (Not a big deal for me).
Our video recording is a bit messed up (Recording at 15fps) but there is a fix now. Other than that there's not a huge difference.
Differences:
1) Cosmetics (that's what the other guy meant by "Galaxy S label") - no differences internally hardware-wise
2) Gingerbread bootloaders
Basically 2) means you can't flash old Froyo-based ROMs because no one bothered to make them compatible with the GB bootloaders - we focused on going the other way around. Our Gingerbread kernels are capable of working with Froyo or Gingerbread bootloaders.
Any ROM you might want to flash is based on your stock firmware currently, since official AT&T Gingerbread isn't out yet. Samfirmware claims it's officially out on Kies, but Kies refuses to connect to our phones so I call BS.
Is the Windmobile of the S-4G available to be flashed to ICS? I've flashed a few phones, just having a hard time figuring out what variant the Windmobile version is and if it's upgradable with cyanogen to a later version, debating about upgrading tomorrow to one.

Try looking at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552119
Bhundven was able to confirm that the phones are [almost] identical with a few small differences and that flashing ROMs for the 959V should be safe. Again, read the thread for more detailed information.
Pay close attention to this warning though: "If the rom contains bootloaders, please DO NOT flash them until we can confirm there are no bootloader differences."
As FBis251 said later, "TLDR: Don't flash bootloaders if the ROM contains bootloaders. No CWM roms contain bootloaders, a lot of heimdall/odin roms contain bootloaders."

If the phone come with gingerbread installed yes. You just have to be very careful. The bootloaders we have are for the T-mobile version. So if you foul up and need to flash back to stock with bootloaders you are boned. However if you just want to flash a flavor of ics this can be done with the purple link in my signature. That will get you rooted with clockworkmod recovery then just flash one of the flavors of ics.
With all that said search is your friend, this information is posted in this subforum AND the general android forums. Our dev bhundven has a couple threads on how to do this.

I've asked people if they have the stock leaked rom for t959w to PM me, and no one has.
Someone also offered to try flashing t959v bootloaders, but never got back to me. My guess is that either it worked great and he is quietly rockin some rom in the dev forum, or it bricked his device and he didn't know what to do with it.
If someone has a t959w they are replacing, I'd like to try my hand at applying AdamOutler's unbrickable mod and experimenting with bootloaders on that device.
There is also the t959p, which is the telus galaxy s 4g.
This phone is different then the t959v or t959w. It has cg2900 gps, where as we have a-gps and there are a few other differences.
The same goes there. If someone has a t959p, I'd like to try the same.
Thanks everyone. I normally search, I was just in a rush as I was getting a new phone this morn and it was between the S 4G or the Q with the slide out keyboard, but it seems no one decided to do anything on the Q, so I went for the S 4G. I'll do lots of reading before I decide to flash or not, I just like having the option.
Hi,
I have the Japanese S2 LTE, for which there appear to be no custom ROMs. So I'll have to (urgh, this is not why I bought an Android phone) use the carrier's ROM. BUT when I try to do an OTA update, it boots into CWM. I assume this is because the OTA update is setup to work with the stock recovery. So does anyone know where I can get the stock recovery from? I assume I'll need to use Odin?
edit: more info:
Model: SC-03D
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: SC03SOMLB9
Kernel: 2.6.35.11-SC03DOMLB9-CL980106
[email protected] #2
Build number: gingerbread.OMLB9
Also, I'm pretty sure the recovery will be the same as the Skyrocket. Almost everything about the phones is the same, save for the buttons and LTE chip.
TIA
Not sure of your model number, but a quick Google search came up with this...

Let me know if it's what you're looking for and, if not, we'll keep trying.

Sent from my I-727 Skyrocket running an Android version AT&T probably won't give me for another year.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, SC-03D. It's the Japanese LTE model on Docomo. The LTE radio is different, and it only has one hard button with two touch buttons (like the original Galaxy S).
That thread is titled just Galaxy S 2 - will that work on an LTE?

For any future reference - I found a complete stock Docomo ROM on SamMobile and flashed it in Odin. My phone is now being treated (by Kies/OTA update) as a fully up to date, unmodified phone. Not that that really helps, Docomo still haven't released ICS. In October 2012. Still on Gingerbread. Yep.
Just moved to grand Cayman. Can anyone help me out here? Need a modem that is flashable or Odin flashable that will get me some reception. I came from Canada rogers. Currently running a s5 port. Will I need tonflash a new ROM? Or am I able to flash a modem on top.
Much appreciated.

Here's a collection of modems, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475714 .
Though, different Notes have different radios with different frequencies, and coverage wherever you are depends on that.
A lot more depends on the carrier, though, if no carrier has coverage there, don't expect a miracle from any software, when it's the right hardware that you need.

I will assume you would have an N900W8.
You have a high risk of bricking if you flash an N9005 modem on your device.
So i got a Galaxy s7 from rogers here in canada. My model is SM-G930W8. I'm wondering how/what are the effects of flashing ROM on this device? Rogers is super slow with their updates, im still on their April update, and it's in fact the only update they ever put out. So if i flash a stock rom onto this phone, will i get the updates directly from samsung? How does this all work? Also if yall are too lazy to answer can you link me to like a good Q&A thread that would answer my question?

Well, I'm no expert in that area since in my country there aren't any carrier locked s7 devices. But I'm guessing that flashing a different stock rom might not be a good idea because you might lose some features or in the worst case scenario, your phone might not boot up at all. So, if I were you I would root my phone, search for a custom rom that's as close to the stock one and which can be flashed on Canadian models.

If you flash a rom from the dev section you won't get any updates since the phone will be rooted, you'll have to rely on newer roms from the dev section. You'll also lose volte/wifi calling from rogers.
Now if you flash a stock telus rom and have a rogers sim i doubt you'll get updates either but who knows, only rogers is holding up the update, every other carrier already pushed out the july update.
