Press and hold the red power button
Now press and release the reset button using stylus under battery door
Continue holding the red button
First you will see Palm logo with progress bar
Then you will see circular Palm logo
When you see circular logo, release red button
Now you will be asked if you want to erase all data
Press UP to confirm
Now choose language when asked and phone will restart as new with no security code
good luck
Anyone that has a 650 with problems relating to reseting the device should check out http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,kb=PalmSupportKB,CASE=obj(887) which shows all the reset procedures for that device. The 650 even has a 'zero out' reset that can fix issues that the hard reset wont. It is also good to perform this reset (to completely wipe out/reset everything) if you were selling your device for instance.
How about PHT program?

Problem
Hi, My polaris is crazy, I notice some problems in the way the system is working, contact problems, weather home plugin, always trying to get information, problems with instaling programs, and now I can not enter in bootloader or make a hard reset, when I try it I see the tri color screen but disaper in less a second.
Any idea?
thanks
Did you ever read the manual that came by your device.
They have a troubleshooting section too.
You could also give more specific info on :
- contact problems
- weather home plugin
- always trying to get information
- problems with instaling programs
That would really help us to figure out if you are the one that are doing things not the right way or if it is your device that malfunctions.
PS: don't feel attacked by this post, it's only for making you understand that when you provide little info, we can't really help on the problem.
solved
Problem solved guys,
DonĀ“t fell atacked I undersyand you,

Resets Not working
I cannot do a Soft Reset or a Hard Reset on the HTC Touch Cruise (Polaris)
Individually,
Pressing the camera key on the right side does not work, throws an error message - Unable to initialize Camera. Failed to set up the camera device
When I use the Stylus to do a Soft Reset, nothing happens.
Pressing Messaging/GPS + Internet buttons and Soft Rest = No Result.
Any other ways to do a soft/hard reset? Is clear storage ok to do a hard reset, and with a cooked ROM. Thanks for the answer
sraaj, the same problem for me. Did you solve the problem?
Thanks!!! Press and hold the Explorer and GPS button (under the phone buttons), and at the same time press reset with the pen worked perfectly for me. I recovered the phone after I broke it when installing a game.
Thanks,I can hard reset naw
Help! I cannot hard reset after my touch screen stopped working. Have tried pressinn gps and internet buttons, then pressing reset and keeping hold of gps and internet but device just soft resets. Would leaving the battery out do the same thing?
Alternative hard reset
Hello mate,
You say your screen isn't working but can you still use the keys and scroll wheel to navigate around the software?
If so, open the start menu and navigate to 'settings', 'system' and select 'clear storage'.
Make sure that you've removed your SD card before you do this.
It will perform a hard reset for you.
Lom
I'll try it but I think it asks you to input 1234, which I can't do without the keypad working!
Yes you do have to enter 1234 so I am totally stuck and ready to try the big hammer reset.
Can anyone help?
alternative!!
use my mobiler
this application will let u use ur ppc thru ur pc
i mean u can share n control ur ppc screen thru desktop

Cheers Mate!
Tried what you suggested but i got a message on the screen with a yes no box to install and couldn't get the button to operate using the wheel or any hardware key!
I've put my sim card in my magician and I think I may have to send the polaris back. Bet they'll say its my fault and will want paying to fix it.
I'm going to try leaving the battery out for a while to see if that will "force" a hard reset. I know I havent bashed it as it stopped working just after a phone call which is why I think hard resetting will sort it.
Tried your suggestion on my magician: nice bit of software!
The hard reset prompt is done by the bootloader, no installed software can affect it, simply because it isn't loaded yet.
Anyway, for the unlikely case of the digitizer hardware not being reset by bootloader, try removing the battery instead of pressing the reset button. Yes, thats right, remove the battery while the unit is operating, as rude as it sounds, and reinsert it while holding the GPS + Internet buttons.
It will, of course, prompt you to enter the 1234, but the touch screen should be initialized by the bootloader. If it still wont work - RMA the unit, your digitizer is faulty.
It still wouldnt hard reset so it probably is a hardware fault. looks like its going back.
Anyone else had a similar issue?:
Sent it back to HTC in Milton Keynes where thet diagnosed a duff touchscreen and replaced it under warranty. The service was very fast and hassle free. Well done HTC!
First thing I did after sprite restore (they reload with a fresh ROM) was to install my mobiler as suggested above. No worries if the screen doesn't work now.
Thanks for your help guys!

Sorry for my english:???:
As written here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Raphael_For_Beginners#Hardx20.Reset
Hard Reset the device:
This will wipe all the storage (not the sd card) and your device will be reset to default settings.
Hard reset
Pull out the stylus.
With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
Continue pressing the RESET, VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press ?VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
ferus write: ...With the device turned on, press and....
but my device doesn't turn on, like if it were without battery !
bye for now.
Since English is not your primary language, I'm going to assume you do not live in the US. That being said:
You loaded a file designed ONLY for the Verizon Wireless Touch Pro device. The Verizon Wireless Touch Pro is CDMA (no SIM card).

CDMA is WAY not GSM
Based on the apparent knowledge (or lack thereof) of the OP...
First, STOP... You don't know what you're doing.
Second, as you've only loaded the Soft SPL have you tried simply removing the battery yet?
If not then do that before you do anything else .
After you have removed the battery count slowly to 15 then replace the battery and see if it come on again.
Return here and report the results.
First, STOP... You don't know what you're doing.thank you
Second, as you've only loaded the Soft SPL have you tried simply removing the battery yet? yes,for 8 hours.
I have made a hard reset, VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons, then press the RESET button, without success.
Wow, I'm suprised that SoftSPL would do perm damage to a device as my understanding was that it didn't actually overwrite the SPL but redirected to load from a different memory location (where is was actually written to).
Anyway...
I would say this leaves you with one option, warranty replacement. Call your provider or the reseller where you purchased the device and tell them that you woke up one fine day and it was simply dead.
Hi,
I dont know what happened but since this afternoon (no matter how many times I perform a soft reset) sense is unable to start. I cant even navigate my phone. however I can still send and recieve calls but that's it.
Does anybody know what caused this? Although I install various software on an regular basis I'f never flashed the standard ROM.
Can you please tell me how to perform a hard-reset if software doesn't allow me to?
quote from the manual:
"To perform a hard reset
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then press the END/POWER button shortly and release it. You will then see this message on the screen.
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
2. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset"
However before you do that, you could try disabling sense + soft reset + enabling sense -> this helped me few times when my sense wouldn't start.
The question is can you get to Start Menu / Settings? or - if not - does your ActiveSync work?
Some info from the Htc website..
Performing a Factory/Hard Reset You can return your phone to its original state, as it was when it left the factory. This is also called a hard reset. You might want to do this if you are giving your phone to a friend or relative and you want to remove all your data first, or if your phone has a persistent problem that is not solved by powering off the phone and then powering it on again.
A factory reset is a drastic measure. It permanently erases all your personal data and customized settings, and also removes any programs you have installed. Make sure that you have backed up the information and files you want to keep. For information about ways of backing up your phone, see the following topics:
Synchronizing With Outlook on Your Computer
Backing Up Your Phone Using Microsoft My Phone
Performing a factory reset via settings
The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the phone settings.
On the Home screen's Settings tab, tap Menu > All Settings > System > Clear Storage.
Enter 1234.
Tap YES to perform the reset, or tap NO to cancel the reset.
Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you cannot turn on your phone or access the phone settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using buttons on the phone.
With your phone powered off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
While holding the volume buttons, press the END/POWER button briefly and then release it.
When you see a warning message on screen, release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.

Tnx guys but no luck, when phone is off and I hold the volume buttons then briefly tap power button the damn thing turns on...the the whole crap starts all over again...nothing works except sending and recieving calls...
ok, before you attempt to loose all your data, try copying unpacking the attached file to your Windows folder - it can be done with ActiveSync,
if I did not screw up, once the file is copied there, long-press of phone button should bring the today settings, where you can try to disable sense, and see what happens then...

Agree 100%. I backup regularly but now I cant even hard-reset so that's not my problem.
Until now a hard reset always worked. Putting your (p107r0) file in the windows folder at least gave me the uportunity to disable sense and grand me access to the settings. But the touch screen seems to suffer from this virus too...when I try to purge my stored info (entering 1234) the keyboard shows what key I press but the number doesnt appear in the textbar...
Even trying to install a cab doesnt work. I can find everything on the phone but tapping does nothing...
I'm very close to flushing the phone down the toilet or something...
I feel your pain (1 month with overheating mainboard), but don't flush it yet
try the second method for HR - the one where you start with both vol keys pressed

mods you can close this thread as far as I'm concerned.
