Awesome notetaking app. - Galaxy Tab Themes and Apps

I was looking for a good simple notetaking program that accepted handwriting input. Theres some character recognition keyboards, but for those who have decent confidence in their legibility should check out Handrite ( https://market.android.com/details?id=my.handrite&feature=search_result )
It doesn't convert the handwriting to text, it just shrinks and justifies it. You can use normal input from a keyboard too. Saves/shares as png's. Not for everyone but cool imo.

Thanks for sharing

Yes I have been using this since version 1 and no doubt it is the best SIP I have ever used. I have a TyTn II and ever since I started using TouchPal I rarely find myself using the slide out mechanical keyboard of the TyTn II.
However presently the version 2 is available only through PayPal and PayPal does not operate in all countries like my place, Pakistan. I have requested them to release this excellent program simultaneously on the regular software sites such as Handango and PocketGear from where we can purchase using the regular credit card. They say they are [email protected] already working on this.
They offer a free version as well. One of my friend tried the free one and found it is also very powerful. But I still bought the pro edition right after i saw the video how you can resize the sip dynamically. very smart approach...
another thing i love is the dynamic language switching. i use two langs and touchpal offers a perfect way to switch between them without penalty. love it...
I spent alot of effort trying to find the perfect on screen keyboard.
(since coming from the treo)
I really liked the one that came with the touch, but I like TouchPal even more.
2 major things that caused me to settle on TouchPal;
1. Two letters per key,
(I just can't get the speed out of small, individual letter keys.)
2. It doesn't interfer with the predictive text like xt9 does with the touch keyboards (20, 40, or Keypad)
What's the difference between 20key and TouchPal?
What's the difference between 20key and TouchPal? They look pretty similiar.
TouchPal seems pretty cool, but I've hit a snag. I notice this when typing in the TO field of a text message. With the default Touch Keypard (that ships with the HTC Touch) in line names from the address book pop up. Say I put the letter T in there, my friend Tom will show up as an auto completion with the phone number.
Is this feature possible with TouchPal?

There's a thread dedicated to that topic here in case anyone wants to weigh in: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=153937
There's a much better choice, an innovative software keyboard that seems to be the best available, and I did try many, I've attached the cab here.

Type Faster With SwiftKey’s Predictive Android Keyboar

Swype Beta was the very first app that I made a video demo of. Ah, it brings back memories. It was also the demo that launched with The Droid Demos in June of 2010. However, there was another Android keyboard app that was released shortly thereafter. It was called SwiftKey. Unlike, Swype, SwiftKey doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel…I mean keyboard. Rather, it brings us an even better traditional keyboard. With a sleek look that slightly resembles the HTC Sense keyboard, SwiftKey prides itself in helping you type faster without changing any habits. How? SwiftKey not only has an amazing spell correction engine, but it actually predicts what you’re going to type. That’s right, a keyboard that predicts the future. Okay, so maybe not quite, but it gets close. By analyzing your typing habits and messages, SwiftKey learns how you type and uses this data to suggest what word to type next, allowing you to quickly tap to select or hit space to select its prediction. No hassle guaranteed.
I've got a video demo, as always of SwiftKey. Check it out. Download link provided.

I have personally found the stock Htc sense keyboard to be better than Swiftkey because the error correction is way better. I type fast enough that it would slow me down considerably to pause to read and select the word it predicts for me. When I try to type fast as would with the Sense keyboard, I get many spelling errors because of mistypes. With the sense keyboard, most words are corrected properly. Try it. Try typing without worrying if you pursed exactly the correct key. I find portrait mode works fastest as you don't have to move your fingers much. I use two thumbs.
Interesting.I like swype a lot but swiftkey sounds like it's worth a try thanks.
I've been on for the hunt for a good keyboard solution for about 3 years.swype is as close as I've come and as you can see I'm still ferrying..getting.. used to it. :/
I'm actually using SwiftKey right now. I tried Swype for a couple of weeks but found that the words that often come up aren't the words that I meant to swype and I end up going back and adjusting the words. So far I've been very satisfied with SwiftKey but I'll try out the suggestion someone mentioned above about using the stock keyboard. One thing that I would like to see though is multitouch support added to SwiftKey.
In my personal opinion, swiftkey sucks...I am like the first response, it slows me down horribly having to select words. Prediction is no good either. The best keyboard I have found for pure speed has been Smart Keyboard Pro in the market. It's multitouch, the keys are spaced nicely and prediction is accurate and fast along with ability to customize as needed.

Sent from Htc Evo using XDA App
I'm liking it so far. However, the prediction on the stock HTC keyboard is still the best imo.

Nothing beats droid multi touch keyboard folks. No fril solution for all your typing needs.

The fastest keyboard on Android has to be TouchPal, the king of Windows Mobile keyboards.
If you have ever used WinMo, you should know how TouchPal murders any other WinMo keyboard out there. TouchPal Android version is no different.

+1 For Smart Keyboard Pro, by far the best I have used. Personally I don't use any prediction, I just seem to make less mistakes with SKP and the mistakes I do make it will autocorrect most of them. I think it is the virtual key resizing that makes it work so well.

[Review] Improve on Your Stock Keyboard with Smart Keyboard Pro

In continuing The Droid Demos round-up of Android keyboards, today I bring you Smart Keyboard Pro. After posting about SwiftKey, I received a suggestion from a reader to try out Smart Keyboard Pro and I have to say, its one of the best Android keyboards I've used. While not so much focused on text prediction, Smart Keyboard Pro has GREAT spell correction. You'll have to go for the Pro version(paid) to get the full options, but its definitely worth it. With common mistakes correction, spell correction, prediction, and user learning(it tries to learn how you type), Smart Keyboard Pro is certainly a welcome replacement for the stock Android keyboard.

+1 on this. I've used SKBP for a while and I have yet to find a new keyboard that I like better. Plus it has multitouch
Everything looked great about the keyboard and settings until you tried to demo its usage.. haha. Anyway, I might give this a try to see if it's as good as the Sense keyboard in speed and spelling correction/text prediction. The extra settings such as long-press time should be very useful.

Wow haha completely forgot to cut that out I'll edit that. I was sitting really awkwardly and I have that problem with every keyboard haha
Keyboard looks good. I enjoyed swiftkey but the skin was HORRIBLE. These are much better, I am enjoying the android stock look and the multitouch. Also the ability to edit the amount of time for a long press is really great. Wish I could ditch the microphone key for a comma. I also kind of miss the stock way to get to the numbers, sliding above the keyboard... I will live with this for a while and see
I'm using Smart Keyboard Pro and find it to be the best.
One key feature for me is the gestures:
I have one set to voice search, one to arrows, one to delete last word, and the other to edit dictionary.

You can! It's in the SkbPro settings. Scroll to the Voice input section and uncheck Mic Button and it will change to a comma.

Thank you for the review OP. This board needs more reviews. I wish they'd do games as well.

AWESOME Note App With Combined Keyboard + Ink Input

I just found Freenote (note everything) by flyable. It has an awesome implementation of handwriting, sketching, and keyboard input. There are even different brushes for sketching!
There's still room for improvement. It could have notebook format like tabnotes, and a way to sync easily to a computer would be nice as well. Overall, however, this is the best implementation I've seen yet.
Yeah I used this software when I just had my TF to make notes during a classical training.
Worked pretty good, I couldnt manage to detect handwriting but the mix between writing, typing and drawing on the same sheet is lovely.
Just tried this, its awesome thanks.
a good alternative is Handrite, it does a similar job, it seems very good with drawing, keyboard and handwriting input and changeable paper backgrounds.

Diopen handwriting recognition

I have seen a few threads lately looking for handwriting note taking apps and this got me wondering about handwriting recognition on my tablet. Having tried a few I can thoroughly recommend Diopen Handwriting and Keyboard. It is quite accurate and works just as well with either my Acase stylus or finger. Diopen supports gestures for inserting a space, deleting, splitting and joining words and correction. Give it a go.
Oh, and yes I wrote this post with it
