Yes I have been using this since version 1 and no doubt it is the best SIP I have ever used. I have a TyTn II and ever since I started using TouchPal I rarely find myself using the slide out mechanical keyboard of the TyTn II.
However presently the version 2 is available only through PayPal and PayPal does not operate in all countries like my place, Pakistan. I have requested them to release this excellent program simultaneously on the regular software sites such as Handango and PocketGear from where we can purchase using the regular credit card. They say they are [email protected] already working on this.
They offer a free version as well. One of my friend tried the free one and found it is also very powerful. But I still bought the pro edition right after i saw the video how you can resize the sip dynamically. very smart approach...
another thing i love is the dynamic language switching. i use two langs and touchpal offers a perfect way to switch between them without penalty. love it...
I spent alot of effort trying to find the perfect on screen keyboard.
(since coming from the treo)
I really liked the one that came with the touch, but I like TouchPal even more.
2 major things that caused me to settle on TouchPal;
1. Two letters per key,
(I just can't get the speed out of small, individual letter keys.)
2. It doesn't interfer with the predictive text like xt9 does with the touch keyboards (20, 40, or Keypad)
What's the difference between 20key and TouchPal?
What's the difference between 20key and TouchPal? They look pretty similiar.
TouchPal seems pretty cool, but I've hit a snag. I notice this when typing in the TO field of a text message. With the default Touch Keypard (that ships with the HTC Touch) in line names from the address book pop up. Say I put the letter T in there, my friend Tom will show up as an auto completion with the phone number.
Is this feature possible with TouchPal?

There's a much better choice, an innovative software keyboard that seems to be the best available, and I did try many, I've attached the cab here.

I have been using Swype keyboard for some time and absolutely love it, but have been annoyed about it not having special letters such as used in Scandinavia.
Then Yesterday I fell over a similar keyboard called SlideIt and that works same way as Swype, it just have support for all European languages plus Arabic and Hebrew, plus you can make abbreviations and as a benefit to all those that don't use WM you can also get it for Android and Symbian.
Price is a reasonable 7.99 USD
You read about here: http://www.mobiletextinput.com/
U are scandiavian? Does the keyboard support ÆØÅ?
Yes, I'm Danish.
Yes, as I wrote then it supports all European languages, you download a language pack of your choice, mine was of course Danish and you can just download the Norwegian language pack and in options you choose the language you want as Primary and which one you want as secondary and voila you have all the special characters for Norway.
The only issue is when you have used Swype for some time is that the buttons are a little smaller, but that only takes a day to get used to.
ok, and it works when u flip the phone to the side?
Have to check out the videos on youtube before i decide...
But if anyone else have used this, i would like to know about the feedback..
Brilliant, abselutly brilliant....

Thanks!!! Certainly the new version kicks the hell out of Swype.
Im Norwegian and have been using SwipeIT since the start. Works fine, but the only issue i have is that it does not work in landscape mode. The keyboard turns all white and the letters are not visible.
Think this is a know'n problem since i have heard some other reports on the same.

it is fixed in the new version, works like a charm
It is really a great keyboard! One issue I have is that it does not detect text selection in HTC Messaging application. I don't think the problem is with SlideIT since it works fine on another text application like Pocket Notepad, and also Swype does not detect selected text also... So probably a problem with HTC Messaging app text selection method...
Anyway it is a great input method and works very good!

Double tap selection never works in HTC Messaging. Long press/hold on the word brings up the editing menu. It's stupid, in my view.

Yeah, I know about the long press editing menu. but even if I select a word with the little pointers (or whatever that things are called) SlideIT does not detect it, so I cannot add/edit/remove that word to/from the SlideIT dictionary like the video here: http://www.mobiletextinput.com/Product/SlideIT/Corrections.php

Hi all!
Have just installed SlideIT and i think if i give it some time i will use it before the HD2 original one. But, is there some better looking skins for it? Or at least one with slightly bigger buttons?
Have googled it but i can't find anything that points me in any way that says that someone is making or are going make skins for it.
Can it be done?
In PDF User Manual, I read this:
"The user has the option to introduce a large number of new words into the dictionary rapidly or to even use a customized dictionary. To do this, create a file containing the new words on a PC and then move the file to the device. The user must open the file and select all of its content. Next, tap on the indicator ‘+’. The bulk update is then performed. Note that the maximum length of the selected text is 1000 characters."
But which kind of file I've to create, where I've to put it, and how can I access to it from the keyboard ?

You can use an application like Pocket Notepad with a txt file...
Why is it so much better than swype? I have 0 issues most of the time with swype unless im trying to do a lot of mixed numbers/letters...
Dear fellow XDA-Members,
is it possible to develop an application that enables the common user to fully costumize the layout for Swype?
I've noticed that there are features of the HTC keyboard I do not want to live without, i.e. the direction arrows on the bottom of the keyboard, which lets you easily navigate through your composition. SlideIT - which I bought but couldn't use long enough to amortize the expenses - gives you a good touch feeling, but misses the long-button-press symbols I need to write in German and in Turkish (Ä,Ö,Ü, ß, ı ç ğ ş etc.); Swype offers a very comprehensive sliding input, but the long-button-press chars almost made me throw my device against the next solid thing nearby... (I would never do that, I love my baby!)
I wonder if someone could spend time to develop an application that lets you modify the layout. Well, I dunno if I comply to the rules when I offer the substantial amount of 25 Euro-bucks for the development.
Any responses are welcome and highly appreciated.
Anyone out there?
I've used Resco Keyboard off and on for quite a long time. But while I continued to use it on my iPaq I more or less shelved it on my last two phones because the "thumb board" never seemed to be what it was advertised to be, and the normal mode wouldn't resize to take advantage of the higher resolution and larger screens. Fast forward to last night.
I downloaded the trial of the new version (6.0), and installed it. First thing I noticed is that the thumboard works. It looks somewhat similar to the Full Qwerty kb that comes on the HD2, though there is a space between each of the keys. And this makes for fewer mistakes while typing.
What makes Resco's kb so appealing has always been the extra things and customization that you can do with it, and in this new version the process of customizing it is extremely easy. I had modified the old version to work for me in terms of key layouts but it was tough to do. This new version uses only two files, and both are in the MS Siliverlight format. They are csv files and I only had to modify one of them, _Symbols.csv in order to make the two numeric boards appear exactly as I wanted them to, and it only took me an hour or so to do it. I had no prior experience with the format used, it's just that easy to modify the files. I was even able to reassign the values of the two center keys at the bottom of each of the numeric keyboards to act as a spacebar of sorts. And now, between the qwerty and the first numeric board I have all of the keys I need for 99% of my typing. There are only 2 keys on the 2nd numeric board that I need to use it for.
In addition to making the process of changing the key values much easier Resco continues that idea with their FX board. This feature allows you to store phrases, date and time stamps, hyperlinks and just about any kind of string you use frequently, each to be added to your open document, appt. etc, with the press of a single key. And this time, just as with the keyboards, the process of adding these special strings is so much easier than with previous versions.
I only needed to use this for as long as it took me to figure out the reassignment of keys to realize that this was worth the $9.95 price. I've been using it as much as possible today and have no regrets, it's a very slick keyboard. And it seems to work just as well in landscape. Because you can try before you buy I would recommend it to anyone. It's worth a look imho.
edit: Almost forgot to mention, one of the screens contains large buttons for all four arrow keys, and also Cut, Copy, Paste, Del, Select All, and an extra backspace key. Pretty slick.
so, can u tell me why when i use resco keyboard pro 6 as default the windows mobile UI seems to be sluggish.. the menu scroll is not as smooth when using HTC keyboard..
sorry for my bad english.. hope you understand..
does anyone know of any skins for resco 6.0
I have seen no difference at all in the performance of the phone or the UI with Resco 6.0 installed. Of course I'm running a very clean ROM. And I'm not using Sense. I have Spb Mobile Shell installed. Works like a charm
Resco doesn't have any skins showing on their site, though I haven't yet checked their forum. I am sure the skins from previous versions would not be compatible. I wouldn't mind a little color but I wouldn't mess with the layout I have with it now. Just my personal preference, that.
resco keboard registry product key
I have HTC p6500 Mantle wm6.5 with a resco keboard installed and running. I need to factory reset and will need the product key which I have lost all trace of.
Can the product key be found in the registry?
Or!
Can a product key be found somewhere else?

Which of these keyboards have the biggest keys when using the phone in portrait mode; the android keyboard, the ime mod keyboard or better keyboard? I am looking for one that makes it less likely for those of us with fat fingers to fat finger what we are typing.
Um, i'd have to say Smart Keyboard Pro with the HTC Skin has the biggests keys. And it's not as big of a file as the HTC IME mod so there isn't that much lag when using it
come keyboards i have used
There is a keyboard called thick buttons which resizes the keys as you type making the keys that are most likely the next letter in the word larger and the rest smaller, you can also set the resize rate (small, medium, large)
SwiftKey is a pretty cool keyboard that scans your chat history to try to predict what word you will type next. They keys are pretty much the same size as the htc keyboard though. feature updates to the app will be able to scan sms, twitter, email and then create different recommendations based on the app you are typing in i.e. sms, email, or twitter.
Right now my fav keyboard app is touchpal. Don't be afraid that a lot of the text about the app is in chinese in particular parts of the tutorial they board can be set to english and all your txt recommendations will be in english. This keyboard has three layouts (my fav is the compact keyboard which gives you two letters per key but with txt prediction enabled typing is not a problem. they keys in this layout are pretty big to making it hard to miss the one you want) What is really cool about this keyboard is the ability to swipe either side ways to change keyboard layouts or down to access the secondary key (e.g. swiping down on say e will give you a 3) or in full quwerty keyboard swiping up gives you the capital letter of the letter.
Another keyboard you might want to put on your radar is blindtype. It is not out yet but it looks really awesome. It functions similar to swype but instead of swiping your finger across the keys you type normally. Look it up and you can see videos of it being demoed. It is not aval right now though but it looks like the keyboard to have for us with big fingers lol
blindtype DOES look amazing!
cant wait for it.
umm, it does not show up in my market. wth
you might want to check out ultra keyboard it allows you to re-size the keyboard making it bigger or smaller and it also has incorporated swype style typing and it also allows you to use better keyboard themes it's a paid app but in my opinion well worth it
been using big buttons keyboard for months. since i only type one handed in portrait this works perfect. it's laid out different but within a minute of typing im a pro.

[UPDATE 8/29]: TouchPal V4.8 Beta2 has been newly released! To update the new version, please download the new apk from the original link and install this new version after unintalling beta1.
We did the following updates:
1. Support slide-down symbols when enabling Curve. Show up commonly used punctuations in last row.
2. Support “Touch to reselect” feature. The user could Curve all the words and goes back to reselect candidates by “simple click and choose touch to edit” or “double click”.
3. Optimize symbol view to full QWERTY.
4. Improve the precision of Curve recognition.
5. Support smart spacing. Now we add space after each word candidate.
6. Allow to install TouchPal main program to SD card.
7. Support 10+ languages.
8. Fix other bugs.
Thank you all for your great feedback on Beta1! We will listen to your feedback and keep improving!
(If you want to apply for beta testing, please click on this thread)
Up to now, we have received thousands of beta testing requests. We have been sending the beta version since last Friday. Thank you so much for your great support!
FYI, we are currently working on an updated beta (beta 2) based on the first round user feedback. Hopefully it will be done in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned.
If you have any feedback, you may also reply here in this thread.
FAQ:
1. How to extract and install the beta apk?
You need to extract the downloaded zip file on a PC using compression tools such as 7zip with the unzip password we sent to you. Then copy the extracted .apk to your phone’s SD card. Run the .apk file on your phone to install the keyboard. Then enable it in the Settings->Locale & Keyboard.
2. Why can’t I use TouchPal Curve, while the predictive dictionary works fine?
You may need to enable Curve in settings first. Or when you go through the tutorial, Curve will be enabled by default.
3. How to get double letters in TouchPal Curve, e.g. “happy”?
You can slide over the letter only once, and our prediction engine is smart enough to figure out the potential double letters. NO need to draw tiny circles on a letter like you did in Swype. For example, if you want to get the word “happy”, you can slide over letters “h,a,p,y”, and then you will get “happy”.
4. If I didn’t get my desired word after sliding, can I double click to edit it, like what Swype does?
We will add “touch to edit” function in beta 2 to improve this experience.
5. TouchPal Curve is good for long words. But for shorter words, why it often gives me wrong suggestions?
This is a known issue and we are working on a fix.
6. Can the keyboard be a bit larger, and how to close the toolbar?
You can enable “Enlarge keyboard height” or disable “function bar” in TouchPal Setting>>Keyboard layout. And we will improve our keyboard layout in future releases.
7. It is annoying to have to go into settings every time to toggle Curve.
We will design a shortcut to conveniently toggle Curve in the next beta version.
8. What’s the blue “A-book” button on the left bottom for?
This is for enabling/disabling the predictive input. Once disabled, it will be in precise mode.
9. Why some buttons don't work when using hard keyboard?
Because Droid X doesn’t support the ALT and CTRL button in hard keyboard, and we are trying to fix this problem.
10. Can't I "swipe" punctuation in Curve-mode?
We plan to adjust our keyboard to allow to swipe punctuation in next beta version. Currently, you can long-press to get the punctuations.
11. Can I customize my tools panel or change skin?
The tools panel can be disabled in Settings. This version doesn’t support skin. It would be supported in the future.
12. Why I can't hide keyboard like in demo?
It's a special feature for demo to prove you can blindtype, and it's not in the release version.
13. When will the next beta be delivered and when will be possible to test others languages?
We will deliver our next beta in a few weeks later and other languages will be supported in the official release.
14. How can I add my user words to the dictionary?
Our keyboard is smart enough to remember user words after you type them several times and will predict when you are sliding.
15. What is the latest version?
The latest official version is v4.7.6. The beta version is v4.8.x, which is a new version with more wonderful functions we plan to promote.
16. Why I don't receive any responses from TouchPal?
Because some members suggested that our thanks replies would disturb this thread, I click the thanks button instead of replying to everyone. But I have delivered all of your suggestions to our developers.
16. Where can I download the language packs?
I have corrected the download links. You can go to this thread to find language pack links.
17. Why only three bottom row of symbols is visible?
It's a feature not a bug. We just show up commonly used punctuations in last row to support slide-down symbols when enabling Curve.
Besides TouchPal Keyboard, TouchPal Dialer is another app that helps you find contacts quicky in T9 keypad, display caller location, and much more. Search "TouchPal Dialer" in Andorid market and it is free!
Again, sincere thanks from TouchPal team!

This new keyboard is stupidly fast and accurate. I love the interface and the simplicity of the layout. Awesome so far!!!! I will give it a go on my tablet a bit later and see how it fairs. Very clean and no lag as of yet.
Dev, good job!
I was using touchpal keyboard for some time(the previous version), and I see a lot improovements both on user interface and usability. It is the best keyboard I've tried so far.
Unfortunately it is unusable for me, because of language support.
So, I'm waiting for greek language support
P.S
If you want a translation to greek, PM me the resource files.
12. How much will Touchpal be after the beta period?
I don't want to use it and get hooked and then find out the final version will be $10.

But it won't be free right?
Really enjoying using this keyboard. But, a touch to correct feature (a bit like the stock Android keyboard and like Swype) would be a great addition.
Also, how will the next beta be delivered? I noticed there is a check for updates option in the settings. Will we use that? And finally, any idea on timeline?
Please add auto spacing for continuous "swiping."
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk
Two minor quirks I have noticed.
1.) When I am replying to a text message, it will not auto-capitalize the first letter.
2.) When I hit the paragraph button and then start a new sentence it will occasionally capitalize the first letter of the first two words and then transcribe normally.
Would love the option to disable the auto-correct when space is hit. I like to have the words and corrections on the bar as suggestions, but the ability to not have them auto selected whenever I hit space.
Love the keyboard so far, I have submitted multiple feedback bug report emails per the initial request.
I would like to try the beta please.

Wrong thread, you want to go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188114
I have a few questions
1. My main keyboard has been SlideiT. IMO it has been the best one for me. One thing I really like about that keyboard that I can't seem to get in this one is adding words to the dictionary. With SlideiT, I can type out my different email addresses and then add it to my library. So when I need to type them out I just slide over the first 3 or 4 letters and select the proper address. Can this keyboard do that?
2. When I try and slide my wife's name (Mandy) it always changes the keyboard. It's going from M to A.
I would like to see a better tutorial video explaining all the details of the keyboard.
Thanks
+1 on the tap a word for options. When it gets it wrong and auto-correct puts the wrong word in it is extremely useful in other keyboards to tap the word and get similar options.
I also wish there was a "compact view" similar to the expanded view in portrait mode which would crunch it all down a bit. The regular view takes up more than 50% of the screen, which is way too big to text inline effectively and see a few texts above the current one you are on.
Also the send button on the bottom seems unnecessary.
great speed and accuracy for the most part, just some small tweaks that break the flow and make it a bit of an adjustment
In the video, you used a blank canvas as a keyboard. I desperately want that feature, but can't find it any where. That's the only reason i wanted to try this keyboard in the first place. If there isn't one, back to swype.
Epic keyboard
My gripes are: that it needs better word learning, i want to configure the keyboard as i type my ebonics and slang instead of writing it out over and over.
Better swyping accuracy. Why cnt i just type the letters of a word in no particular order and have the keyboard pick up the word im trying to say. Swype does it.
Also it needs a broader word dictionary for easier corrections

I tested the keyboard on my viewsonic g tablet and noticed that when I swipe the path doesn't follow the letters, all the letters I seem to go through draw a path out to beyond the bottom right of the screen, so after I type it loks like a spiralgraph. Secondly, when I try the voice to text, it launches the voice yo text but it doesn't exit and enter the word after I stop speaking.
