I was just interested: How do the custom roms such as dexter's rom get past the locked bootloader? Does the milestone xt720 have the efuse?(te one on the droid X) Any help to clear my doubts would be appreciated!!

ohhhh....... so that means even a locked bootloader is of no use to stop devs from making new custom ROMS? Yay!
Even more... there is a project 2ndboot that allows to boot custom kernel everytime.. but it not finished yet.

Hope it finishes soon!!
To put it better: it's not finished yet for our XT720.
On Defy it works good.
Nope! In Defy works 2ndinit! I was talking about 2ndboot.
I needed to clarify a thing..is it possible to flash stock based ROM for eg: [SE TWEAKED 0.85] in se arc s without unlocking bootloader..Im on rooted ,locked bootloader se arc s.
THANKS IN ADVANCE..
I don't know how similar the Sony Erickson phones are to Motorola. 2nd-init would likely work, but it would be better to ask in a SE sub forum.
Thank u so much dude....im sorry to have posted it here..

Found this during my digging for XT720 ROMs.
XT720 Open Recovery
Does this not mean that it is possible to port some ROMs to the XT720?
Well not full Roms as one will not have access to the Kernel... etc.
yes i would say so. but no1 is doing the porting.. =(
open recovery works great on xt720!!

Yes!
Maybe come custom roms?
Would an XT720 rom theoretically work with an XT701?
why there is no custom roms ???
because the bootloader is locked, but actually Dexter on this forum got a leak of the 2.2.1 and there is an easy guide to install it! Look in the mile stone xt720 developpement you'll see its probably the first link!
possibly if it is easy to install, I personally I have no experience, but we will try. Unfortunately motorola openrecovery leaves no access to, but we have solutions that Dexters and his new rom.
A few days ago trying to enter the system and always XT720 bloqueba with an exclamation point, but already we can change the openrecovery rom. Thanks Dexters
Greetings!

Hi! i am a newbie here on xda, i just want to ask if there will be any support for porting ICS on X8 with locked bootloader and stock kernel? i have read many thread and reviews regarding those rom and they require unlocked bootloader to install custom kernels like nAa.. will somebody be kind to make one for stock kernels.. i love my x8 and i still want to have it updated as possible.
Thanks.
Hey.
Welcome to my second post about xperia m2 aqua kernel.
When seeing that nobody has nothing made for m2 aqua yet (only root) i decided to also made custom kernel.
Download link:
MOD EDIT removed due to GPLv2 @gregbradley
You need to unlock bootloader witch tutorial you can find here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/general/m2-aqua-simple-root-unlock-bootloader-t3069957
The kernel is blazing fast and you shoud already see it when booting up phone.
It's still in the beta but it has preinstalled cwm, i just need to configure the buttons corectly and that's that!
Known bugs?
-None for now
-Except not yet established cwm(not a bug but still)
Additional:
-Faster speed
-Fixed accelometer bug when it's stops working
-Potentialy longer battery life(still not aproved)
Installation:
Just flash M2_AQUA_SUPERKERNEL_TIMIPISOBOY.img via fastboot with flashtool or adb!
Special thanks to DOOMLORD!!!
Stay tuned because im working on custom rom whic is basicaly based on stock just fasteren up and removed some not important apps.
Basicaly if i won't get the cwm on my kernel i'll use XM2-AdvStkKernel_DooMLoRD_ramdisk kernel with know working cwm but bootlooped on m2 aqua.
Just a comad-line more when zip install to remove current boot and replace it with mine.
Thanks and stay tuned!!!!
Tell me if you have any troubles or known bugs.
Bad for me because i have locked botloader, but i gett rooted my phone and its was very easy. So do you thing about Aosp project for aqua?

So I had to downgrade from 5.0.2 in order to install KK+Root+SU But is it possible to install ROMs if the boot loader is locked? God, this sounds like a very silly question. If anybody could shed some light on my lack of knowledge I'd be very grateful.

With a locked boot you cannot install anything that relies on a custom kernel. So no CM, AOSP, BP, DU AOKP etc....
Basically, you can only install stock (i.e sony xperia stock) based ROMs

Hello guys, is there any way to install a more recent version than android 4.4 without having bootloader unlock allowed? I really want to play Pokemon Go and sadly it doesn't work on stock rom and my bootloader unlock is not allowed...
I'm really really noob at this, never changed a rom on any device before, so some pointers would be really appreciated! Such as how to install and which roms might work!
Thank you!

Unfortunately not, you cannot do anything to get a custom Rom, sorry mate

Why do you think you need a custom rom? The pokemon hardware requirements are specifying only Android jelly bean, which is available on the Xperia L as stock rom...
