US Cellular Touch Pro 2 working on ATT?

Hi, I am sort of new here but I know enough to get around on what I need to do, but I am at a stand still...
I bought a US Cellular Touch Pro 2 from Ebay which was "unlocked" supposedly, but my ATT phone card does nothing in it, I can get digital roaming but ATT will not work on the phone.
So my question is, what are the needed steps in order to get my Touch Pro 2 to get working on the ATT network. As far as I know the Security is not unlocked.

Note: I bought an unlock code from Ebay earlier, but since it says its unlocked I cant use the code, unless there is another way to use that code.

if im right and some1 here can correct me if im not. i think u have to sim unlock it for it to work.

yes it says 'your phone is sim unlocked' in the security tab but my ATT cards are not working
someone mentioned adding software or something. can someone please show me how to do this asap. we kinda counted on having the phones today.

i bought a us cellular on ebay as well. had to security unlock it. Got code from this site and then bought from olipro. this should help.

the first one you have to but then the second link you need to watch to get the imei number before you buy unlock stuff. hope this helps. trin to give back what i learned.

There are two different kinds of SIM Unlocks
There is the stock SIM unlock which allows you to use the sim card for other countries. You click on settings, and sim management and it says the sim is unlocked. However, that does not mean that you can use it with ATT or TMobile here in the united states. Reboot your phone and you will most likely see that your radio says something like 2.10.00WF The WF is what is screwin you over with ATT. You need to pay for and use the SIM unlock from Olipro, (there are tons of links already for it.) and unlock the phone. Then put a WU radio on it. I find that the best one that works for USCC is the 1.96.10WU Radio. It has the least amount of DATA crashes. Hope that helps ya out a bit.

weird. olinex recomended the 2.32.00wu radio over all the others. but seeing as how my data connection never wants to stay open, maybe i will give that one a try.

Ok so i got the paid unlocking tool and ran it. it appears to have worked.

was that a mistake?
Anyway it doesnt say att when i put in a non active sim card.
is it still ready to use? also when i install the radios should it be in global or gsm mode or does it matter?

Why don't you go ahead buy a CDMA TP2 phone and flash a GSM radio or ROM, go ahead. And make someone record your face and the device. Let's see how you enjoy turning a working phone into a black death piece of hardware that will not respond or do anything.

Read up a bit on this device before advising people. Flashing a GSM rom on a native CDMA device (RhodiumW) is the best and fastest way to end up with a brick. Please make sure about these things before you post anything like this again.

Works great using windows 7. I am running Att with data smooth now.

Problem at&t (signal coverage)

The ATT sim works in another phone? Do you have ATT service where you live? You did put the bottom cover back on the phone? You need the bottom cover on completely because it includes the antenna.

yes i used 2 different sims but same thing happen, and i do have service where i live,the botton cover is on.... could it be that the phone is damage??

Yes the phone could be damaged. Can you take it to an ATT store where you live?

APN will not affect phone signal.
@juan0089.....You did reboot your phone after inserting sim if you did it with phone on? Or insert sim while the phone was off?

im willing to bet the phone is damaged. have u tried making an emergency call without the sim? see if it can connect to that. if that cant connect then id say its probably shot

True, I didn't even think about that. If you can't call 911, then it's not the sim that's the problem. Hopefully you have some recourse with the seller.
EDIT: sorry, just noticed your not in the U.S. So, not 911, but whatever emergency is.

If anyone dials 911 to check if your phone has a signal I would hope that they would throw your ass in jail. No need to dial anything. Your phone tells you if you have a signal or not. And to back it up you have the bars in the notification bar.

just a thought if he's not in the u.s he wouldn't have signal anyways, since the Inspire is a us only handset as far what frequencies it uses correct? (referring to the gsm/cdma networks)

You don't have to let the call go through. As soon as you push call, it will give an error if there's no connection.

He's in Costa Rica. It's GSM 1800 on ICE, and the Inspire works on that. But the coverage looks to be very spotty according to coverage maps. Maybe that's the problem.

wait !!! Costa Rica is not in the US ???

ATT was mentioned a few times to the OP. OP has yet to respond what carrier he is using.
Inspire will work in US, some South America, some Canada, and some Australia for 3G/4G. But it will have to be unlocked if not on US on ATT.
And I still wouldn't make an emergency call. If you got no signal then you got no signal.

Well he did mention it and also that using the att simcard was used. and emergency call works differently. it will allow it to connect to any tower within its frequency range to place the call regardless of network, where as using a att sim or tmobile sim it will only display signal for those respective networks.

You are correct. He did say ATT sim in first post. But it is obvious he is leaving out important information. There is confusion whether he is in US or not or has ATT or not. ATT sim could have came with the phone.
Yes without a sim the phone will connect to any GSM tower for emergency calls. But you will also see in the Notification Bar if there is even a signal present. Sim card makes no difference for emergency calls.
Here is my theory. OP bought Inspire from ebay. It came with a non activated ATT sim card. He does not live in US nor does ATT have a signal where he lives. He has yet to respond with any info that we can use to help him. Darunion you are correct in the theory that he should at least look in the Notification Bar to see if there is any reception of any kind. That would at least let us know that the phone works. But without any real input from him we are just arguing amongst ourselves.

[Q] Aid with Radio.

So, I just bought a used HTC One S off craigslist and the guy was using an AT&T card in it and said there was problems connecting with a t-mo sim. I assume he flashed an AT&T radio. Do you guys know the best way to reset the radio back to t-mo? I don't really mind root so could I just factory reset? It's on LeeDrOiD One Supreve V2.1.0 if that helps.

Are you sure the phone is not blacklisted and that is why you cant use it with tmobile?

Just checked and the IMEI is not blocked unless you mean something else. He was even using the phoen (though with his AT&T sim)

Hi Crumpla!

there is no ATT radio. All of the radios will be specifically for T-Mo or the European variant. the reason that it works on ATT is just because it works on the same bands and frequencies as both att and T-mo. The version of radio should have no bearing on whether it will work on T-Mo or not

What does the phone say with a TMo Sim in it?
"Phone not allowed on network"? and "MM6" up top in the signal area?

Check radio setting
With dialer punch in
*#*#4636#*#*
Choose "Phone information"
Scroll down to Radio, see if it's On or Off.
Maybe play with it, turn it off turn it on see if it give you anything
EDIT: did some googling and seems like MM6 mean it's blacklisted.

No SIM Card

Hey everyone, I am a Galaxy Nexus user but my brother got an old Roger's S2 LTE that he wants to put on a non-Rogers network (same one I am on with my GNex). However we are having a weird issue where if we insert the original (deactivated) SIM that came with the phone it detects it. But if we put in either mine or his own it just always says "No SIM Card". I even have a pay as you go AT&T SIM that wont work in it either. So far I have flashed CyanogenMod and tried the UCLF6 radio as well as the Rogers ICS Radio UXLF3 from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754473
I should note that when my brother originally inserted his SIM he got the unlock screen and paid to unlock it through cellunlocker.net and it was recognizing his SIM at that point. Since then however we have had no luck. He even replaced the SIM card board with a new one.
Any ideas? I am leaning towards hardware issue but its odd that it still reads the original inserted SIM

In fact even without a SIM card in if I search for Network Operators nothing comes up. If I do the same on my GNex I get a listing so its looking like this phone is no good
EDIT: Just realized who responded. Your threads were VERY helpful for me! Thanks so much... I'm still not convinced the phone is toast... I have a friend with a GNex on Rogers (I'm on MTS) so I will see if I can borrow his SIM and see what happens

agree, not the phone, the only way to make sure of anything is to restore to stock and do all the testing from that point on
edit: dah, its the radio, what freq is the new sim card on that wont work, is it the same as T-Mobile
edit: maybe not radio, think its like rogers, could be network settings

Actually both MTS and Rogers use the same towers so the phone should be set properly.
I've got it reading my MTS SIM now but cant pick up any networks. Its set to LTE/HSPA/GSM (Auto) and MTS is HSPA.
Is there anything that could be done to the IMEI of the phone to sort of "blacklist" it from working on any network?
Here is where I have tested from so far:
Stock before I did anything to the phone (Stock rogers GB)
CM9 Nightly
Stock Rogers ICS
SkyICS
I have also tried both the lastest AT&T Radio as well as the latest Rogers Radio. With my GNex both myself and my friend on Rogers use the same Radio (UGLC1).
At this point it seems either the radios arent working at all or the phone is blocked somehow
EDIT: Info on the MTS network... Found on the FAQ on their site:
Any unlocked devices (i.e. devices that are not tied to a specific carrier) will work with MTS SIM cards (on the MTS 4G network). However, carriers such as Rogers, Bell and Telus lock their devices to work with only their SIM cards and these devices will not work with a MTS SIM card. Similarly, MTS intends to lock our devices to our SIM cards. Therefore, our devices will not be usable on another carrier's network.
Please note that any unlocked device must support 4G North American Frequencies (850Mhz), older GSM devices will not function on our new 4G network. You can find out if your device is 4G compliant by reviewing the phone's settings.

Yes when I try that menu (*#2263#) it doesnt do anything. I can do *#*#4636#*#* when on CM9 and it works but on stock and SkyICS it just FCs when I select "Phone Information"...
I am going back to Rogers Stock ICS right now. Gotta head off to my engagement party but will likely be back at it tomorrow

If anyone reading this thread has a stock Rogers phone can you turn it off, take out your SIM and then boot it up without a SIM in it and then do a Network Search and see if anything comes up? On my GNex I get networks but on the S2 LTE I dont. In fact I have never seen any signal from any network on this phone yet with an MTS, AT&T and an old Rogers SIM
EDIT: Actually you will probably have to be on CM9. With stock you cant get to the Network Operator section without a SIM card inserted but in CM9 you can

Ok I had enough time to do as you suggested above. Wiped like crazy then went back to stock using the ODIN method and the firmware from sammobile.
Actually I figured it out... it only FCs when I have the AT&T SIM card in and I think thats because AT&T is RAT Locked? If I have no SIM in I can get to all the menus.

k, try to set the freq(play around with it) in that menu w/out sim, then shutdown and install sim b4 restarting, left haptic to click "end" is saving

Got home and went right to work. Almost positive the problem is the radio not working now. I managed to get both SIMs reading without issue but neither will get signal of any sort (even straight after stock reflash). Gonna call it for now until I get a hold of my buddys Rogers SIM.

[Q] Phone Thinks I Am Roaming

I bought my HTC Sensation about a year ago on Ebay. The seller claimed the phone was purchased outright and paid off. I checked the imei and it showed clean. When I got it, I popped my Airfire sim card into it and it worked fine. A month ago, I switched to Cricket as Airfire was going out of business. Cricket made me enter my imei. It said it was bad. I called T-Mobile and they said the seller defaulted on payments. They refused to help in any way. They told me to buy the phone direct from them next time. I told them I had proof I was buying it in good faith. They didn't care and apparently have no problem punishing the victim.
Anyways, when I got my Cricket sim and popped it in, my phone said I was roaming. It has said I was roaming for a full month now. I can send and receive calls, but my data is stuck at EDGE and some of the programs don't work since the phone thinks its roaming. I need to have "data roaming" enabled for data to work. Cricket ran some tests and eventually said I needed to do a factory reset.
So, I switched from the Android Revolution rom to the ViperS 5.2.1 rom. I did a full dalvik and cache wipe and reformatted everything but the sd card. I installed the new rom and kernal. Same thing. Phone still says I am roaming. Odd thing is, when I go to manually select carrier, my options are Cricket (current carrier), Airfire (previous carrier) and TMobile (stock carrier). Also, when I am using data, it has an "E" above the data. E is what Airfire used. Is there somehow somewhere a place that the phone is storing info through wipes?
I am s-off, rooted and debranded. I sim unlocked the phone myself. I am so stuck and think that only one of the geniuses on XDA are my only hope. I have went mental spending hours and hours on this. Some XDA peeps are smarted than HTC and Cricket combined, so please help me out here.

Hi grant, this is a very odd situation your in. With my sensation when I leave the UK and connect to another EU "partner network" is the only time my phone would jump into roaming mode. Is it possible that cricket is not directly supported in your area? Maybe they rent their local connection from another carrier and thats why your getting connected as roaming? Have you tried any other sim cards to see if they come up as roaming?

I am quite sure that At&t is Cricket's parent company so all of the towers should be At&t's networks. Also, I have checked it when in other cities and I get the same message, though I haven't traveled more than 30 miles away.
The previous sim with AirFire worked fine. I also popped out the sim for Cricket and put it in my mom's phone to see if it was the sim. Her's worked fine. She got the automatic Cricket update settings right away and was not roaming. Mine never got the Cricket pop-up so I had to manually enter all of the data info. Yes, odd indeed and I am lost.

OK, the info your adding manually, is that the same info as is registered when the card is in your mums phone? Same APN etc?

Hi heavy_metal_man. Yup. Same info. Only difference is that the info all loads automatically on hers. I do get automated texts from Cricket when I put the sim in my phone as did she, but I had to get the APN info from Cricket the first time because it didn't auto load. I am still wondering if it is a sim issue, but I expected my mom's phone to be roaming when I put the sim in hers. I was shocked when it wasn't. She just has a free stock phone from Airfire btw. Nothing fancy and nothing done to it.

I think your previous carrier (airfire) was a Virtual mobile network, much like giffgaff in the UK ( which runs on the o2 network.) As such they may not have inforced the same imei policy's that cricket does. But this is just a hunch as I am on UK networks and we do things much differently. If you could ask about any friends and colleges that have different carrier simcards from our previous 3 you could gauge what carriers your phone is compatible with.
Worst case scenario you could maybe buy another broken htc sensation and perform a motherboard swap. This would solve your imei issue, assuming that it was the primary issue. But check the simcards first and report back

Hmm... There are only 3 carriers available. Should there be more? It's not tied to the sim? Everyone I know either still has Airfire and plans on switching to Cricket or has cdma so I have been out of luck with trying another sim. The only other thing I thought about was 4ext recovery. No matter what I flash; roms, kernals, firmware or radios, the recovery always survives of course. Its unlikely to be to do with the recovery, no reason for it to keep anything like that. It's most likely the phones imei at this point, though im unsure as to why this was not an issue for airfire.
Do you know what firmware version you have? Have you flashed 3.33 by yourself?

Yup, I flashed 3.33 universal after doing a super Cid. Well, maybe its time to just get a new phone, although I would really like to figure out this problem first. I am not the kind of person who can just drop things, lol.

I know how you feel. Maybe its because they cricket know the sensation 4g is a T-Mobile device and force you into roaming mode by default. I think its possible to overwrite the devices mid and cid, flash a sensation XE rom and effectively have a sensation XE. But such things can be quite dangerous and i couldn't say for definite if it would work to fix your issue :/ (not recommending anyone tries this without proper research and understanding :/)
Can you get access to another cricket sim without a contract? Just for testing?

I believe I have already done that. When I go into info about my phone, it says Sensation XE. It also registers as Sensation XE in the Google play store. I was thinking about telling Cricket to send me a new sim. Otherwise, I have no access to one at this time.

I think that it would be your best bet, although your device is probably showing up on the play store as an XE because of its build.prop from your custom rom, not any advanced MID changes. although you can check by using the command

this will show your your mid, cid and your imei among other things.

I've worked it out! Its a frequency issue. Cricket apparently only support cdma frequency's, while the sensation only uses gsm frequency's. So in order to connect your phone is bunnying onto a local gsm service, which is then redirecting you to cricket. Hence the roaming! If you want off the data roaming you will need to either swap to a different phone carrier or buy a cdma phone

Cricket did use CDMA for most of the time, but they have switched to GSM. They send a sim now and are trying to switch all of their old customers to GSM. What I am having trouble figuring out is what frequencies they use. Perhaps my phone is not quite compatible. I am having trouble with that as well. GSM arena, Phonescoop and the other major sites kind of have different data as far as my phone goes. My phone is called "HTC Sensation 4G" as far as I know. Yet, they list no 4g capability or frequencies. Of course, I believe that would only affect data and I still should not show as roaming.
I have been unable to figure out fastboot since switching to the viper rom. It doesn't use usb mass storage anymore. It uses the new system in which the whole phone is recognized as a storage device by the computer. Forgot what they called it. I wish they hadn't changed it, and apparently Windows 7 should recognize it by default, but it does not. I am sure if I get enough time to put into it I will figure out how to use the fastboot commands again.
I am ready to give up and just get a new phone pretty soon. Would be nice if Cricket's customer service wasn't so worthless. It could still be the IMEI or something on their end that I can do nothing about but they have failed to provide any solution.

Sorry for my delayed reply, I noticed that cricket swapped out to gsm and I discovered that their gsm tech is actually supplied at&t as they bought them out.
So I looked at their coverage map for the area airfire operated and I noticed that they had 2 or 3 area that were only providing 3g support via a partner, so I assume that would put you into roaming. It might be worth a look at their map and confirm if you reside on one of these black areas ?
