Battery life. Former thunderbolt owners reply - Verizon Droid Charge

Can former thunderbolt owners please reply. Let me know how battery life compares between the two? Especially with 4g on all day

I will be getting my Charge tomorrow...I will report back Wednesday after a day of use...
I have the TB but I also have the extended battery.....which I will be getting with the Charge also....I am in a STRONG 4g area......at work and at home

The Charge gives me about three extra hours of battery life on a charge. That is in a 4g area all day. The battery still goes fast if you use the phone non stop but nowhere near as fast as the Thunderbolt. I have my wife the Thunderbolt since she did not mind using it worth the extended battery.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk

I have both phones (Charge and Thunderbolt) and use both through-out the day.
The Charge definitely has better battery life than a stock Thunderbolt, but it's not good enough to get you through a full 16-18 hour day if you're any kind of moderate to heavy user.
Nice thing about both phones is that the batteries are so thin on them that you can carry a spare in your wallet (I have a stock spare for each phone in my credit card slots) and my wallet is still thinner than my roommates, even though I carry twice the cash he does.

Some more followup for the OP:
Today I am at 15% after 6:44 off the charger. Display sucked up 83% of the battery used. The display was on for 2:28.
WiFi on, but not connected. 4G enabled and active all day. Did a significant amount of browsing, tapatalk forums. A few text messages, a Skype chat, a Google talk chat. A short phone call and a few Words With Friends moves.
Screen brightness set to maximum.

I don't believe that for a minute. You're definitely carrying a Costanza wallet.

LOL...okay busted.

I had the ThunderBolt with the extended battery and I have the Charge with the extended battery as well. Based on equal usage of emails, web, phone calls and more importantly installing the apps from a fresh device reset the Charge battery is a hell of a lot better than the ThunderBolt is, simply put.

Hey inspire owners, what do you think about the battery life?

I have read that battery life is horrible...what do you all think?
For the 24 hours plus I have had it, it is actually better than my Captivate was on any 2.2 ROM after proper recalibration, and at least on par with bone stock 2.1.1. I think HTC got it right with this one.
mine sucks so far. but im sure it needs to be "broken in" (here comes the debate about batteries not needing to be broken in)
Mine is decent, but then I plug it in the car charger as soon as i start driving so...
Mine is pretty decent as well... better than my Captivate was stock. The Inspire has a smaller battery as well (1230mAh I believe). So smaller battery with bettery battery life means HTC did something right to me
It's good so far. However, I got a 1600 mah from eBay and so far It's been great. I've been using it for 6 hours with constant use, full brightness and I still have more than half of battery left.

My battery life has been pretty decent. Havent had a full day yet to test it out.
That batt still fit in the phone without any mods? And are they smoking crack? 105 for the batt? I'll stay with my current one
Uhm? I paid $4.58. That's strange.
It isn't great right now but in the coming weeks the battery life will get better.

would u say better or worse then the Droidx, or an iphone4?
I have never used an iPhone 4 or Evo long enough to give you battery life. As for the Evo, probably close to the same actually. You see, the main reason that the Evo got the 1500 may battery is because of WiMax 4G. Plus the Inspire has more efficient technology, including the second generation snapdragon processor and the more efficient version of Sense, version 2.0

I think the battery life is great. MUCH better than what the bad reviews said it was.
With smart use (concious of wifi toggle, brightness toggle, gps toggle, account syncs...) the phone will easily last over a day. I use my phone a lot too, and I can't kill it in the day. It requires a little more attention than the iPhone 4, but the trade offs are worth it.
Full charge this morning. maybe 1 hour of web/email. 15 minutes of calls and stand by the rest of the time and I am at 2/3 at 4pm.
Not good not bad. Clearly for really busy times it will need a charge or a second battery (which I am planning to get).

I am guessing wrong price or a shill - are we sure the Desire HD battery will fit and function properly. If so why didnt HTC just use the 1500mA or 1600mA to start with?
It was actually $4.89. That's what I paid including shipping. I guess the seller got greedy. I copied that link from the confirmation email from eBay.

i'm assuming they aren't.
I don't recommend buying any batteries online that claim to be replacements for the Inspire, but are much larger in mAh. They are likely fake, unsafe, or the same battery you have currently with a different mAh size that is untrue.

3300MAH seidio battery rating

Anyone know of it's true rating?
Or should I stick with yoobao
For the price I'd personally just stick with the Yoobao.
Would seidios back work with yoobao?

My seido 3300 doesn't last as long as my evo's extended life battery. The eco battery isn't advertised that its higher capacity than the epics either. I suspect that the seido is over rated and the epic screen really can kill a battery. What I am basing this on is an eight hour charge with the phone off. Then about how much battery I'd left at bedtime. The eco always has more juice left at the end of the day. I can't explain why either, I'm just guessing.
I have the seido...def better then stock but not twice aa much at all. Running acs and still prob couldnt make it 24 hours at all.

I have it as well I am seeing more than double life. I would get 6-8 hours stock, and couldn't even make it home from work. Now I can easily get through my whole day, and have enough left over to make it through the whole night.

I own this battery, and it give you a real noticable difference, the stock battery is rated at 1500mAh and this is 3300 mAh, so you would expect, logically, a little more than a 2x increase in battery life. Ill let you know that it will let you extend into the 3rd day with your average web browsing, simple games (ie. words with friends) mms, and of course, phone calls. I have pushed the phone into the 3rd day. The good news it it gets better and better if you get a good kernal for the epic 4g that has the potential to save battery un noticeably.
Sorry for the spelling mistakes,
Aaron

Hard to search from tapatalk, but I posted my experience on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182278
I'm in the process of RMA'ing one of them. The other is good. Seller has been responsive so far.
EDIT: Seller sent the replacement battery quickly and for free. As with the original battery, turned out it was a non-issue. So, all Anker batteries that I received work well. All batteries have 2011-09 timestamps - fresh.
Can this battery be charged in the phone or does it have to be on an external charger?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
it's not that great. their 1500 is better some how.
it does charge in the phone btw, but it take a long time to charge.
The Ankers worked great for me. I got two plus a charger and now they are all I used. I used to carry two spare stock batteries around just in case. Now these two are it. I'd take two of these over three stock batteries any day, even though I know the math does not add up.
They do charge in the phone, but if I actually have to use the spare, then when I get home I charge one in the charger at the same time the phone charges the other. The phone charges faster than the charger, but maybe slower than it charges the stock battery.
I don't have a good way to test how much charge a battery holds though. Is there an app that tracks battery usage so I'd be able to tell how much more charge one battery has than another?
I bought the Anker 1800mAh batteries and charger for $17 on ebay (maybe cheaper, I don't remember). My wife uses it in her Epic and it easily lasts all day long, no issues. I find it to last almost as long as my stock 1800mAh battery does in my Epic Touch.
No issues with either one, recharging time isn't an issue since it'll last all day and it'll recharge overnight while we're sleeping... Plus that leaves us an 1800mAh and the stock 1500mAh batteries as spares...

I got them from amazon, 2 for $20 with the free charger. I've bought other batteries before but now can't imagine why anyone with an epic wouldn't get these.

I'm pretty happy with, Battery Monitor Widget
Ordered from Amazon
I just ordered the 2x1800 mah Anker batteries plus an external charger for about 27 bucks from Amazon. Can't wait to get them and try them out. I think I might've burned through my stock battery a bit faster than usual because it doesn't seem to hold a charge as well as it did, and I was always flashing ROMs and having to re-calibrate the battery every time.
Curiously enough, the stock battery issue seemed to be more pronounced when I went to EI22 and flashed the ACS ICS "F*** it, we'll do it live" v5.5 ROM
hmm....could be just in my head, though. It's a great ROM.
I just got the 2 Anker 1800mAh batteries with the external charger for $20 plus tax (still under $22 with free 2 day shipping using Amazon Prime).
This was a GREAT deal so far, and it's nice to have 2 spare batteries (one extra 1800 and the stock 1500 I've been using for the past year).
This is a bargain and I recommend anyone who has even thought for a sec about getting a spare battery to pick up this deal.
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Batteri...GXR6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323157418&sr=8-1
The only downside I can see so far is that the battery is SLIGHTLY heavier, so the phone feels a little heavier than with the stock battery. I guess it's just physics.
Makes the phone feel more solid.
I had a 100% charge at noon today and so far with pretty heavy use, 12 hours later, I'm at about 44% which isn't bad. In the past I've had to charge in the middle of the day to avoid phone going dead at night.
Wow!! Anker-licious!
So I finally got my (w)Anker batteries in the mail and charged one up. I installed it, immediately booted to ACS Recovery 5 and wiped battery stats, rebooted, and I've been running the phone uninterrupted ever since. This was very early this morning.
So far so good!! Ten + hours and only at 76% after mostly idling, with some moderate Facebooking, Youtubing, and Bluetooth audio streaming thrown in.
Battery fits perfectly in my Epic and zero issues so far.
I wonder how it will behave after the break-in period of 4 to 5 cycles.
I use the anker 1800 in my wife's epic. It consistently gets 3+ hours over the stock. Well worth the $12 and a real upgrade for us as the stock battery would always give up around the 11hr mark and the same use she gets 14+ hrs w the 1800. Around 3 hour screen on time maybe.
Although in my nexus the anker 1600 seems worse than my stock battery. Worth a try but not an upgrade in a nexus.

Sorry bout that last "post" I was taking the back off my phone lol. Anyway, here's a question:
My wife got the Touch not too long ago. Before, she had what I'm using now, the Epic 4g. When she had the 4g, she was getting such crappy battery life that she bought an xtra one. When I adopted the Epic, she didn't want to give up the battery. (Don't ask me why, she's crazy) But she has been holding onto battery, afraid to put it into her SG2. From reading the posts in here, I'm assuming that she can use her xtra battery (1500mAh) in her SG2. Am I right? I'm sure she wont get nearly as long life as the 1800 that's in her phone now, but she could use the 1500 in a pinch couldn't she? (No matter what the answer is, I'm gonna tell her no so she'll pony up the xtra one lol) But just out of curiosity, would the 1500 work in the SG2?
Thanx,
Ridge

QCell SkyRocket 3850mAh Extended Battery

with stock battery, i've been getting extremely horrible battery life around 6 hours maximum with tethering. I think most people using this phone in this forum is getting the same problem
Went to amazon.com and found a 3850mAh Extended Battery for Skyrocket made by QCell. It have the highest mAh rating among all other manufacturers.
Product arrive 1 day from purchase. The seller seems to ship out pretty quick. I charge the battery for 8 hours prior to use and now with this battery, I can last full day without charge.
The cover that comes with the battery is in reflective black. Matches quite nicely to the phone.

It's better idea to buy 3 pack of knock off batteries with charger on Ebay for $10. That's what i've done and i've had the batteries for 2 months now.. I got those and they worked ok. Don't last as long as the OEM but you have an option of switching the batteries when waiting for the other to charge. They take a long time to charge from 0 to 100%. Still a better alternative than getting stuck with 1 battery. For me they last about 4 hours with listening to the radio on LTE and with everything else running in the background. This phone does suck a lot of juice.

Sounds like its not even close to 3800mah, or even 1800mah. Cheap batteries are notorious for overstating their actual capacity.

If u guys read what I wrote you would only have to spend $10 and get 3 batteries along with charger.. One of the batteries lasts a decent amount of time. I've been running on the Ebay battery since 6am and its now 152 pm. And I'm at 30% with decent data usage. I got my stock battery fully charged and ready to go for when I run out.. And I have the other two batteries as back ups if one of the batteries decides to fail. That beats having an oversized backing anyday

It depends on whether you carry a briefcase , are around a single place regularly, or have neither apply to you. I'm all over the place without a bag daily, so batteries in the pockets makes no sense.

Finally had a chance to run this battery through its passes the last few days.
Let me describe my day.
I run an IT shop so I get lots of status, info, newsletter etc emails throughout the day. In addition I get text messages regularly, email on my gmail account, facebook updates and hourly twitter updates via plume.
So my phone comes off the charger around 7am(on home wifi), I start dealing with work emails at that time.
I do a commute of about 40-45 min where I'll listen to music that is stored on my phone pipe through my cars audio system in the morning. Get to work(go back to wwifi), then the phone will be on on sound notification for text and work email throughout the daily. I also run NoLED for notification.
Lunch time I'll come off wifi as I head out but I'll the phone will see increase usage as I'll browse various apps, play a few games, etc.
Back to just status notifications for the rest of the work day(back on wifi), then an evening commute home listening to music again, and back on wifi at home.
With that in my the stock battery will start at 100% and by the end of the day as I get in my car to head home be at about 15%-17%.
Yesterday the extended battery was at 45% when I got in the car, and by about 10:30pm was still at about 15%.
Today I didn't use my phone as much today (limiting it to mostly status updates which still come regularly) and my phone right now is at 65%.
This will work for me. I really only have an extended battery for periods where I'm not going to be near a charger... basically a day when I know I'm going to be out and about, as oppose to at work or in my car.
So with that being said I'm happy with the purchase.
edit: I also own an Energizer XP18000 which I can use to charge my phone and my Xoom 4G tablet that will come in to play when I head out on business trips for IT conferences.
So, you're gettng a 30% increase from a supposed 1950mah increase in battery capacity over the 1850 mah stock. That sounds like a 2400mah battery rather than a 3800mah battery.

My testing was very unscientific and this is really only the first day of usage. I vaguely remember that with many of these batteries folks have commented that the increase gains fairly quickly over a short period of usage/recharging?

I made it from 7:30Am to 10:32PM without hitting 10% reserve. The battery life is fine. Just wish people in the amaze form would realize that.

what connection were you using? wifi or mobile?
Battery life is just great. Nearly no drain in idle.

Mobile all the way
There will always be people who want an extended battery, but its really not needed unless you are using your phone to make 50 pho.e calls in a day or you play 3 hours of games. most people will be more than happy with the battery life provided by the One S.

no need for a Extended Battery here, where would the battery go if there was one
If you are in bad cell coverage (which eats more juice) or are a heavy user, pray god invest a few bucks into a Gumpack external battery. That thing is half the size if a pack of cigs and stores enough juice for 2-3 full recharges on the go. Its one little more gadget to toss into your daypack and remember to keep charged but its well worth the bother. Certainly easier than speculating about a bigger battery while batt life is fine for most users.
And I am not bashing, if you have a 1.5h commute to work and spend it playing GTA3 i can see where the juice goes. So a gumpack battery would be your best approach, with the current 28nm Krait architecture there is not a lot to gain batterywise really. Plus, the AMOLED sucks less juice on dark images, something to keep in mind when picking a background image I think.

(There are also cheaper competitors offering similar devices if you shop around...)
