Hi
I recently purchased an extended battery off amazon from a third party seller to get more life out of the bolt and ran into serious data issues.
In a 4g area, my data was non existant and constaly droping to 1x or nothing. Called up tech support and they narrowed it down to a sim card issue. Afterwards i compared the cases on my original battery and the extended and noticed the extended case did not have the metal contacts that the original case has.
After going back to the original battery and case, i was instantly on 4g and have yet to get any sort of data problems. Now i am looking into getting the official extended battery and case from verizon as i hope the metal conatcs are there.
Anyone else have similar issues?
I just received my thunderbolt and spent the last 24 hours in frustration until I read your post. I took out the 3500 mah battery and put back the stock battery with stock cover, and 4g is working fine now. Anyone know if the covers for the seideo extended batteries have these metal contacts?
From what i understand is that the phone antenna is in the back cover. The HTC official 2750 has 4 metal contacts in the back. Not sure on Sedio.
I use the official extended battery and have no issues. You get what you pay for.

Here's a link to a battery on Amazon... Dont know what case would fit with the extra size of the case with the new battery door.

Can you post pictures of the phone with the battery and new door in it? That 3600mAh battery is atrocious looking, and I wonder how much better this would be.
Looks to be the same size, just less mah.
I just bought this couple weeks ago and today I went back to my stock battery. The bat life is good but the replacement case is so easy to break or should I say the pins that locks the case to the phone are too fragile.

Any experience with the powerskin? Any other alternatives? I really am looking for a case with extra battery and not just extra batteries or a different back cover. I like the idea of a case/battery combo.

I know some people who use it and it works for them but a lot of the reviews say it stops charging after a few months...
For the same price you can get the sedio 3800mah battery (60$ ) and then get the case for the extended battery also from sedio (20$ ) which might be a little bit more reliable..
Iirc, the phone won't deep sleep with the powerskin. You don't even need a battery that big. Nexus extended is far more than enough. You don't need one at all. I run 24 hours plus on stock with over 5 hours screen on, gtalk and text all day, emails, fb, weather, words with friends, stream music, and more.
With the nexus extended I'd need a new cover? If so, are there cases that accomdate for the new back cover?

You don't need a new cover. The battery might fit great, it might bulge. definitely didn't need a new case and my cover does bulge slightly

That battery is awesome. I've had it for two days now. I am a moderate to heavy phone user, and it is sitting at 43% after 15 hours of being unplugged. 40% of that is screen time.
I had the power skin, worked great for awhile but now the USB cord on the bottom to connect to the phone stopped working. I could probably have it serviced under warranty but....yeah don't want to bother it wasn't that good

I am on my 4th Powerskin for my SR in less than two months. They either die and stop working or the charging port gets worn down so it only makes contact when you hold it and put pressure on it. It is realistically about an extra 75% added to your battery, but your phone uses it to stay 100% charged so none of your battery saving features work. Would recommend a larger replacement battery over a case battery. I ended up buying extra andido batteries off amazon and plan on giving that a try over this.
I bought it at AT&T so they keep giving me replacements but will not give me a refund.
Do not recommend.
On my 2nd powerskin and it along with the 1st one stopped recharging......waste of time. Plus it makes it bulky.
I went through two of them. The last one overheated my phone and killed it :-( at&t gave me a new phone and I changed to an otter box.

The reason people don't like it is because it sucks for an "extended" battery. You can get another one almost 1000mAh bigger for the same physical size.
Which one would u recommend

I haven't tried any but from others' recommendations I would say hyperion 3500mah with the OEM extended cover (as the hyperion one cracks)

Samsung extended is like 2600 so hyperion is like 1000 bigger. Just search this forum for it.

Has anyone had any luck finding decent cases (even TPU) for the OEM extended cover? Amazon's got some kinda-crappy silicon cases for the Trexcell extended battery, but I'm not really a fan.
I have both the OEM extended battery and the Hyperion's. The Hyperion is 3500mAh and the OEM is 2600mAh, however the Hyperion is slightly thinner by a hair, and it runs cooler and has a much longer battery life. You won't have any problem fitting the Hyperion under the OEM extended battery case which is made of a better quality plastic than the Hyperion's that comes with the battery.

I use mine naked.
Hyperion Experience
I just ordered the Hyperion through Amazon and the case for it as well. I'm amazed! Took this phone from one that I can barely make it through 12 hours with minimal use and having GPS, data and wifi off except when I MUST have it (i.e. at lunch) to a totally new level where I have all services running throughout the day and extensive use without a charge for 12+ hours. Should have expected it - the battery has the same capacity as the Razr MAXX.
In reference to the case... Meh... I had the silicone one that I bought through Verizon on day one of owning this phone and it was a nice one. Felt good in the hand, lasted nearly 2 years (still works but not on the extended cover) and protected the phone from my occasional oafish drop. The one I have from Hyperion feels cheap (I guess because it is...), but does its job - I've dropped it a couple of times and had no issues. Only real issues I do have is 1) this case covers the hardware buttons on the bottom. With EP1, EP4 and FP1, this wasn't an issue as the backlighting worked randomly at best. With the FP5 update, I've found that the backlighting appears to function properly and the new cover precludes that. 2) the charging port's cutout was too small for the charger. Initially, I just pulled the cover down and charged it that way but who wants that? UGLY! So... That's what a razor blade is made for... I cut the hole bigger (carefully!) and have had no issue since.
I believe that will be my solution for the covering the hardware buttons backlighting as well...
Anyone has any additional info on release of Zerolemon for GS4 ?

shoot em an email bro; last i heard when i mailed them was mid may.
keep us updated.
They said within a couple of weeks. They said that 4 days ago, also they said they are going to release a rugged case version in June. He said to check their amazon store.
Yes, I've received reply from Zerolemon as well. Was told it should by out by the end of may.
But wasn't told about another version of case.
Would be nice to see a sample of rugged case before buying the silicone one.

Before I made the purchase to the S4, I had the S3 with the extended battery. Therefore, I took the opportunity to test it out at the T-Mo Store with their Demo Version. Althouth the S3 extended battery is smaller than the the S4 battery area, it fit nonetheless.
Best part, it booted without any problems.
Charging no problem.
(haven't tested the NFC)
Plus, the extended battery case fit snugly as well (except that it covers the flash and speaker area but not the camera).

Noice! I've always strayed away from extended batteries because it makes the phone look pregnant, but the way they do their casing is really slick. And something about 12 hours on screen time just sounds fabulous!
The case covers the light source and the speakers, also covers the headphone adapter.
Basically, my intention is not meant to customize the case to fit the S4. I was making a point for those that already have the S3 extended battery, that it won't be a complete loss when switching to the S4.
I am still going to wait for the S4 extended battery to come out but for the mean time, this beast of an S4 needs the juice.

I agree with you , somewhat...
Before GS4, I had GS2, whith extended battery as well
But from what I read so far, Zerolemon makes a better one, plus the case it makes it trully priceless, since no one makes TPU cases for extended batteries
This phone has pretty good power management system, but as soon as you start using it and the screen is on, especially outdoors, when you need more light to see it in sunlight, you litterally see 1% of power going down almost every couple of minutes
So to make whole story short and really use the full phone with all of it features, you need lots of power for busy full day of use.
I really don't understand people who post pics, how long they phone can work on stock battery. come one wake up people, major battery is used by screen, not by you having it in your pocket.
Could someone please recommend me a battery that's higher than 1650 mAh but it should still fit in the stock case.

Yes this is a s2 epic battery, but it fits, very tight, so you have to tightly push all sides of the cover until they snap. I've used this for over a year now.

My wife and I started using the two-pack when our original batteries got to the easily spin/bulgy state. Similar battery life to the original, as in... way better than they'd gotten to.
