I have tried 4 different Launcher's now..
AWD.Launcher
Go Launcher Ex
LauncherPro
TouchWiz
On the first 3, every time i set a background image, i only get the middle section of it all pixilated and halfassed.
With all 4 of them, you long press the background, select wallpapper > Gallery > find Pic> select Tall Cut out & set accordingly.
The only one that manages to actually set the picture area properly as the tall cutout crops to is TouchWiz.
What is it doing wrong or what am i not getting?
any help would be a kindness to this poor soul of mine
Try Wallpaper Wizardrii from the market it has different options of cropping. I use it and it works GREAT!
From what I know if your on whites tw4 then it does that even if you use a different launcher. The wallpapers work fine on his tw4 but not on any other launcher while tw4 is still installed
Hope that helps

I, for the life of me, can't figure out how to set it up. I went to wallpapercasa's website and downloaded five wallpapers. I then moved them into my Wallpapers folder within DCIM. I don't know how to get it to work so I can have a different wallpaper for each screen. I'm using ADW Ex as my launcher.
I have individual settings for each screen. I go into screen 1 and under the picture settings I can only choose from a folder and not an individual picture. If I choose that option the screen fades but I don't get a popular to search within the gallery. I had the option before but i decided to reboot and it seems it went away.
Anybody use this great unknown app?
Click adw ex settings
Then general behavior
then animation and effects
Make sure wallpaper scrolling is checked

I installed the GO Launcher EX that came with the Google Apps RAR in the developer forum and noticed that I am unable to set my own custom wallpaper. I am only able to set a Live wallpaper or the default one that comes with GO Launcher EX. Anyone else have this problem?
When I attempt to do so, I go to the gallery, select my picture, crop and size it, then try to set it. It does the whole "Saving" thing but when returning back to the launcher, nothing has changed.
I've tried both from the Wallpaper option on "Menu" as well as under Theme Settings in GO Launcher EX.
Also, anyone know of a way to change the Amazon lock screen? The Amazon lock screen is still present after installing GO Launcher EX and will change the wallpaper to one of the random lock screen ones after turning off the screen and locking the device anyway...
Thanks in advance!!
EDIT: I should also note that I am rooted.
I have the same problem but am not rooted. I would love to disable Amazon's rotating wallpaper in favor of one of Go Laucher's.
I was planning on going into the system files and locate the folder its pulling the wallpapers from. Hopefully all we have to do is replace them with the wallpapers we like. Go launcher wallpaper doesn't shift left and right for me either when screen moving.

the problem seems to lie in the Fire's own stock lock screen. given the fact that it is rooted, see if you can disable the stock lock screen (using No Lock from the android market) and replacing it with something like Go Locker or WidgetLocker (though some say WidgetLocker doesn't work well)

The wallpaper for the launcher is located in the launchers apk. The wallpapers for the lockscreen are in framework-res.apk the standard place for an aftermarket launcher to pull wallpapers from is framework-res.apk (correct me if I'm wrong. The rom would pretty much have to be custom to fix this. Therefore it would be best for us to get a working recovery(twrp or clockwork using short presses to move through menus and long presses to select) then focus on ICS or HC(probably better off ICS) so we have a soft home, menu, back button.
Then changing wallpapers would be a breeze.

I got no lock to work. Same solution used to get Android Market to work. Get Titanium Backup installed (need the paid version) and you can use it to change the installed No Lock app to a system app. Reboot and it works fine. Will need to have your Kindle Fire Rooted.
Ok, Now I have No Log working, but how do I replace the Lock Screen?
GO Launcher EX wallpaper, make it stick
It's not a question of disabling the locker; regardless of whether the phone locks or not, the default Kindle slider screen appears on wake-up, and after sliding, the default Kindle wallpaper is there instead of GO Launcher's wallpaper.
I, too, am greatly annoyed by this.
If pyrostic is right, then regrettably there's no simple way to fix this. Which would suck. (Many of us are not developers.)
Widget locker works well for changing the lockscreen wallpaper at least..

It won't stay after you restart.
Benjyp's procedure worked for me. I posted more specifics about what you can do about them.

OK. I've got the wallpapers to not change back to the Amazon ones by changing permissions on the /data/data/com.android.settings/files/wallpaper file, but I can't get scrollable wallpapers to work. I'm using the long rainbow one that came with Go Launcher but it's fixed and won't scroll. I've tried changing the settings in Go Launcher to the Default setting (to allow scrolling wallpapers) but that didn't help.
Anyone else having this problem?
Would you mind sharing how you changed permissions? I.e. what app used and changed from/to what?
My mom downloaded a live wallpaper and like the others, it keeps getting changed back.
so to stop it from changing wallpapers you have to root it?
yea gotta root to stop it from changing wallpapers. I feel like a solution will come out that doesnt require root...hopefully

If you are talking about the default TouchWiz homescreen you can pinch (zoom out) on one of the homescreens. This will show all your homescreens like tiles. You can do the same thing with Menu > Edit. Then you can rearrange them by holding and dragging them where you want. The first homescreen (top left) is the default.
If you mean in the browser (assuming default browser) Menu > Settings > Set home page
Yes, I'm aware of that.
What I meant was making screen no. 4 as my default homescreen.
In that case I will always start in the middle of the background.

screen 4 is not too different from screen 1. If you swipe left form screen 1, you arrive at screen 7. Only the wallpaper moves in a strange way.
doesnt solve his issue of wanting to be in the middle of a background though
3rd party launchers can do that, i suppose. Go Launcher EX has that option

yes it has - also launcher pro
This means wallpapers and especially live wallpapers are off center and it's annoying. Some launchers allow you to set the Page you want as home. But is there a way to do it in touchwiz?
I have both ADW Launcher and WidgetLocker installed on my Kfire. Everything works great but when i select a wallpaper it gets zoomed in and looks like garbage.
Im doing it by long tap on the homescreen > wallpaper > gallery > then i have my JPG image.
I think i must be doing something wrong.. this is my first Android so excuse my n00biness

I was having the same problem so i just went with a live wallpaper. This shouldn't be a problem once we have custom ROMs.

Yea, i found the only fix seemed to be live wallpapers... but i don't like them as much and would like to have my own picture. Is that the only fix then?
Updated Skyrocket to SKYICS 4.2E-8 (ULCE2), using Apex launcher, tried normal gallery, quickpic, zmods folder gallery2 apk, nothing has solved the problem so far.
When selecting an image to set as Home screen wallpaper I can no longer resize the selection to fit 960*800 pics to use for wallpaper scrolling. The wallpaper itself will scroll once selected but is zoomed in to portrait.
Resize worked fine on SKYICS base 2 update 7 but no longer.
Posting here because postcount Q.Q
EDIT: Also, using the included SecWallpaperChooser and Apex Launcher wallpaper chooser do not fix the issue.
Try what I did. This worked for me just follow the instructions. I know it works for UCLE2 not sure about sky ics. If it works on sky ics let me know...

Resolved a few days ago; installed QuickPic from market, on home screen hit soft menu, wallpaper, select QuickPic wallpaper gallery (which uses its own, white-framed resizing frame to select widescreen wallpapers, rather than the native gallery size selector - if you're having this problem, you understand what I'm talking about) and confirm size.
If anyone is having the same issue this worked for me and restored scrolling widescreen wallpaper functionality.
I use the Zedge app and select a wallpaper from it, works good
