GMail App on CM7 - Autosync?

Hey guys, for some days im also in the CM7 club now. Since I prefer the GMail-App which comes with the stock Sensation over the AOSP mail client I recovered it with Titanium Backup. Now I don't get any Mails pushed to my phone anymore, I have to sync manually from the Gmail App all the time.
Anybody got an advice how to fix this? Is the GMail-App also available in the market, so I could try getting it from there and reinstall it?
Thanks a lot guys!

[Q] Contacts lost, please help

Hi everybody!
Yesterday I traded my Xperia Arc for Galaxy Note. Note is positively insane! The problem is, I saved my contacts data from arc 4.0.4 with titanium backup, and when I restored them on my note 4.0.3 I'm getting an error "Unfortunately process.acore has stopped working" and obviously contacts are not there. I can resolve the problem on my note with clearing contacts data, but I don't have any other way to get my contacts back, and that's a huge problem... I tried flashing note with 4.0.4 but that didn't help. I keep getting that freaking error! Is there any way to save my contacts? It's crucially important! Thank you!
Before you make a new thread try having a look around the forums. I came up with this, which is HIGHLY related to your problems. Please have a thorough read...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490341
Well, I tried that but it didn't work... I don't think it's a sync problem since it's another device altogether... it's probably incompatibility between system apks...
I also tried downloading contacts with kies to my pc, but kies just froze... I tried using mybackup to save contacts but mybackup FC...
Now I'm downloading a system dump from xperia arc, gonna try to install contacts.apk from arc and I'm gonna see if that works... if not I'm in a really big trouble...
WTF am I missing here? Why don't you just sync your contacts on Google - the way that Android was designed to be used?
If you don't know how to do that. There's a very safe way
Export your contacts from your People app. as VCF cards. Then import them again and import them into one of your google account, that's the way I know how to do it.
You might get double contacts and all sorts of crap but it's ok because that's your old device.

[Q] No SIM-Contacts in CM10?

Dear xda-community,
I use CM10 for about a week or so and I love it, but I've a major problem:
I wanted to import my SIM-contacts to my phone, but CM10 tells me, that I don't have any contacts saved on my SIM. It only takes the contacts from Google, which I don't want.
Is there any solution how to get my contacts on CM10 without retyping every single number into Google?
One workaround would be to install a sense rom, then sync your contacts with Google, then restore cm10 nandroid backup and sync contacts from Google...
Anyone got a better idea?

[Q] Missing Contacts After Changing to CM

Did some searching about this beforehand but couldn't come up with a solid answer. Really hoping someone can help me out.
I very recently changed my friend's MT4GS from the latest stock ROM to CM 10.1. The ROM works fine for the most part. The issue is that she seems to be missing the vast majority of her contacts which is extremely upsetting to her as I'm sure you can understand. The few that were retained were the only ones she had synced to her Google account. The really odd thing is that she has had this phone replaced on four different occasions (same model) and her contacts would always sync effortlessly going from one to the next (all of them being on the stock ROM until now).
I've tried enabling sync in the People app through Gmail, Facebook, and even adding her Hotmail account to the AOSP email app and syncing that as well. The latter did add plenty of contacts but not the ones she was used to seeing, just email contacts exclusive to that account, no phone numbers as such.
So basically there are a few questions that arise from all of this:
1: Is there a simple way to get the contacts back while still on AOSP?
2: If we were to revert back to the stock ROM would the contacts come back as they have in the past?
3: Why would the contacts sync on the stock ROM but not AOSP?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
She was probably syncing contacts with T-Mobile and not Google, go back to at least a stock based ROM, sync contacts, then transfer them to gmail, then you can flash any ROM you want as they will be tied to gmail

Click to collapse
Thanks for the info and the tip. I'll give a shot and report back.
Its the most annoying thing for me with AOSP ROMs
The contacts she has "lost" are on her SIM card only right? Yet for some reason all AOSP and CM and AOKP
ROMs can't read those contacts...just the ones on the Google account
So best way is, return to stock as said above...i am sure all contacts are now available again, then sync them all to Google by just copying to Google account and flash back to your AOSP ROM and you are done
Was shocked the first time I rooted my desire z and missing some contacts too...but with time I got it why they where missing xD (still don't know why AOSP can't read SIM card contacts though)

If you login to my-tmobile (assuming she was backing up to t-mo) go to mobile life-> contacts, then you can do an export of all the contacts that are there to something like VCF and then import to the phone. If they're out there, they're certainly not lost!
Success! Thanks everyone for the information and advice. You were all very helpful.
What I ended up doing was reverting back to a stock ROM, had T-Mobile automatically restore the contacts and exported them. Then simply imported them once back on AOSP. No biggy. :]
Thanks again! You can consider this thread solved!
