SIM Card is not supported - Verizon Droid Charge

After many issues trying to get phone working again, I was able to flash ED1stock and the phone will boot up to the android setup screen.
Problem is, I get an error message after I click Next. I have went to verizon and got a new SIM but the same message comes up. Verizon will not exchange the phone due to my wife taking the phone up when the phone would not boot and when they were looking at it, voodoo started talking to them so they Red Flagged my phone.
So now I'm stuck with a phone that will not finish the setup. At this point, I just want to get it back to stock working so I can sell it.
Here is the message that I am getting.
"Sorry, this SIM card is not supported or readable. Please contact your wireless service provider."
Any help would be great.
Thanks

It sounds like you're in the same boat as me with regards to your phone's operating status; I'm going to Verizon today to try a new SIM card. I'll let you know if that does the trick.

Please do. I did the same but it didn't work. Only thing is when I got home, I tried to re-flash the phone and I might have left the new sim in the phone that could have caused it to go bad.
Starting to think that its a radio problem. Wonder if there is a stock radio we can flash?

Well, the bad news is multiple new SIM cards did not work and many other members are experiencing the same problem. Keep your eyes out for a radio update to flash.

If that is the reason. Don't know any other reason. I even tried to flash a couple kernels but failed also.
Only thing I could think of is the radio being the issue.

Mine has been this way since Wed. night. Sorry to say, but you are probably up a creek right without a paddle.
What were you trying to recover from? and did you flash anything prior to ed1

I made the mistake of trying to run a backup from clockwork. That started it all. Then wiped the phone and tried to flash every rom out there to get it to work again. Nice that its booting up to android but sucks that it will not see the sim.
Can anyone point us in the right direction on this? The phone is starting to collect dust sitting here.
Has anyone been able to recover from this?

This is exactly what I was trying to recover from. I had to use the "almost everything" package that Imnuts posted and then flashed ed1 and boom, no sim card.
So far I haven't been able to get a dev really to look at the possibilities.

Hey is there any DEV's of there that could give us a hand? I'm sure there are going to be many people out there that could use a fix for this issue.
Thanks

This just happened to me. I got a new sim card, it worked, it was on an ed1 stock kernal, it then software upgraded and boom, sim card no longer works. Going in tomorrow to get another sim card with an ed2 stock kernal to see if it will keep. Anyone figure out why this is happening?

There is a known issue with sim cards being fried frequently on this phone that Verizon is aware of.
Some people are temporarily removing the sim prior to flashing.

I would first have to ask why are you still on ED1??? odin the latest stock EE4 package or OTA upgrade it and see what happens then... those OG roms (ED1/2) are so borked there's issues even with the odin packages
blazing through on my 4G Droid Charge

Im new to all of this hacking stuff, so I just updated to what I could find. Ill do the ee4 update tonight.
Thanks!

Try flashing EP1W from herethen flashing use the PIT file from here.

Thunderbolt won't update

Just got a new to me thunderbolt that has been in the box since may last year. Needless to say it hasn't seen any updates. It can't find an ota update. I have downloaded 2.11.605.3 and .5 and tried to manually flash in bootloader but it keeps telling me no image found 3 or 4 times then goes back to menu.
I have tried to find older updates and do it in series but everything i find was on multiupload we all know that story.
My current version 1.13.605.7.
Someone please help
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Was the phone already rooted or is it stock with old software? It sounds like you already tried Settings > About Phone > Software Updates and hit check new? When you download these updates your finding are you placing them on the Root of your SDcard and naming them Exactly PG05IMG.zip?
The phone is stock and never rooted. My brother got it as a replacement last year used it for a couple days then got the charge.
Yes I downloaded the run and renamed it exactly that. When I boot into bootloader it acts like it wants to start but it says a couple times no image and then says something else then no image etc. Then instead of showing a percentage bar on the upper right of goes right back to fastboot menu.

Ok. With a new sim card and different sd card now it is loading... we will see how it goes.

Cool let us know.
Got it squared away. Not sure what the problem was but with a new Sim card and different Sd it loaded just fine. Now on latest firmware..
I'm coming from an x so things are a tad different. Just need to get used to the different setup.
Hope I didn't screw myself by taking newest update. I was planning on rooting and trying out a few roms.

usually it's best to root with the older updates that don't have the exploits patched yet, and then update manually with radios and roms once rooted . . .
also, hows the b16 in the DA? is that thing pretty stable in second gear on the windy roads at high rpms?
Don't have the da anymore. I got rid of it years ago just kept the name, it's easy to remember, lol.
It did ok though.

Atrix 2 weird case

Hey Guys, how's everything? I hope that you all are doing great. My friend has an atrix 2 and wanted me to check it out and root/etc. The person he bought it from somehow screwed up the phone during rooting or something like that as the seller told him. The problem is that i have literally tried everything in my knowledge that would possibly work but can't seemed to understand why the issue is and unable to understand anything to it. I would really appreciate any help.
The Issue, seems like the phone boots up fine, but when it comes to "touch the screen to set up" or whatever it is, it stays there for merely a second, whether i click it or not, it automatically goes to the main homepage. Now i have the at&t sim in but it won't read the sim, heck it won't even charge the phone though the phone is charging. I only see the option to dial emergency numbers.
What i have tried: I thought if i would just flash the sbf file and take it to stock, i can try to do stuff from there. I have...
Hard Resetted> no dice
Can't do soft since i can't really access the phone main apps/pages etc
Used the sbf of stock> Flashes fine, everything goes perfect, but phone still acting the same. I have never seen an issue like this. My major concern is that the battery doesn't charge and i only have about 15% battery left. Don't know what to do or what to try, You guys have any idea what exactly is going on here? Is there any way to still recover etc? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks
do you have the right sbf for your phone??

Hey, I hope so. I got the file from the roof section. I believe it is only for at&T, is there a different sbf that I might need that I might be missing? Could you post the link to the sbf tha you might think I should try?

First off to everyone in this thread, it is not an SBF it is an FXZ for the atrix2, always has been.
Here is the link to all the FXZ files for the Atrix 2, you will need to know which one you have:

The phone is locked to a carrier, and it is not the SIM you have inserted. You must have a functioning SIM card (does your SIM work elsewhere?) from the carrier or get it unlocked. I don't know how to find out which one it is locked to, maybe your friend/original seller would.

Nope. It's not locked to the carrier since it is an at&T phone. I am with at&T and currently using my sim with a different phone. I was testing it out since I wanted to get something to working

Invalid Sim Card

Hello All,
Earlier I had a boot loop problem, which was easily solved with One Click Unbrick Heimdall. After which I installed entropy's daily driver, installed CWM, and updated to CM10. For whatever reason, I kept losing signal and data. Originally, I thought it possibly a bug in the rom, but after trying Paranoid Android and also qkster's Clean_Wipe script, I decided to go back to stock.
After going back to stock, I now get an "Invalid Sim Card!" message after a few minutes with the screen off (I have signal and data working before this), and this problem persists until I reboot the phone. After rebooting, it will show this message again.
One weird thing I noticed was that I do not get the "Invalid Sim Card" message, nor do I lose signal when my phone is plugged in and charging. Any ideas on what is causing this and what I can do to fix it? It's the same sim card I've had all along.
Thanks
I've had the CM10 issue where EFS folder gets lost, which wipes out all radio functions, but never an invalid SIM error message. I don't have anything to offer that'd address your specific problem.
One thing that may be worth trying would be to Heimdall back to stock again, and then flash the bootloaders. After the initial flash, leave the Heimdall screen running and check the "Flash Bootloaders" box. Once the phone is booted up after the initial flash, shut it down again and boot into download mode. Then flash again, but this time it'll also install the bootloaders.
May or may not help, but there's always the remote possibility that something could have somehow been corrupted with the first flash, and this will at least help eliminate a variable and let you start troubleshooting with a clean slate.

I didn't get the invalid SIM error message on CM10 (just lost signal), only on stock gingerbread. But I'll try flashing bootloaders and let you know if that fixes my problem.
EDIT: I keep getting a message saying it cannot upload pit file. Any suggestions?
Reboot PC and try again. Sometimes it's just a random USB quirk. Maybe try switching USB ports. If you do reboot the PC, you'll have better luck with getting a good connection afterwords if you pull the phone's battery and reboot it into Download Mode.

I guess I should put out this warning: IF you're having alot of trouble getting a reliable USB connection for Heimdall, you should be cautious when considering flashing the Bootloaders. From my understanding of things, a bad Bootloader flash is about the only way to really brick an Infuse.

I rebooted. No such luck. I can still boot into download mode and recovery, but not into the actual OS now. I've flashed the bootloaders before when I was semi bricked, so I thought that it would work again. This was the only computer I had success on before. So I'll have to see if I can get another computer to work.

I always keep a decent selection of ROM zips on my internal SD for such occasions. Since you can get into CWM, see if you can mount USB storage and transfer a different ROM to your phone, assuming you don't already have some saved on it. It'll at least give you functionality again, while you figure your Heimdall issues out. Assuming that it was a wiped-out EFS folder that caused your JB connectivity issues, I'd try flashing back to that for now. I've only had that happen once, in approximately 10 JB flashes, so it seems to be a bit of an unlikely occurrence, for the most part. Odds are, it'll be fine this time around.

Err I don't have CWM anymore since I used Heimdall to go back to stock. And I don't think it was the EFS folder for my connectivity issues, because I had the same issues on stock.
EDIT: got it back to stock on a different computer. Will post again if I encounter the "invalid sim card" problem again
[EDIT2: back to stock, still have the problem /I]
Maybe there was a slight issue with the SIM card reader and the flashing about exacerbated the problem to where it showed itself. If you're still within your warranty period, maybe look into getting a replacement?

Seems unlikely. As far as I know, the only thing that can be written to the SIM card is new contacts. If you happen to have another AT&T SIM card available, I'd try putting it in and seeing if it still gives the same error message. If it does, obviously, it's something with the phone, or at least the software. If not, maybe the SIM did somehow manage to go bad. It's not a problem I've ever run into. I'm out of ideas.

did you remove SIM when flashing the JB roms???
OP's have warnings about leaving SIM card in for flashing, at least first flash anyway.
also suggests doing EFS back up.
always tell people "read read read"
not trying to do the "told you so" thing here, probably not helping.
can't you get new SIM from store?

Perhaps you should take your own advice, and "read read read" again. You have your cards mixed up. The recommendation is to remove your external SD card, not the SIM card. I've never removed my SIM for flashing, and never had any issues because of it.

If I read this correctly, you went directly from gb to cm10.
Your error wasn't so much as sim or signal. It is due to the mtd conversion from gb voodoo.
Seems like the correct way would be: gb to cm7/cm9, then cm7/cm9 to cm10.
If you check about phone, you will likely see garble on the imei line.

np...I have always recommended ppl to specifically state the problem they are experiencing in complete detail, step wise and leaving nothing out.
It helps those to are willing to help others better understand where you are coming from.
In your instance, to isolate the hw vs firmware issue, you may want to consider Heimdall 1 click uckj4 or uclb3 package with complete boot loader box checked to get back to a complete stock.
Or Odin one of the leak package with pit and repartition.
If you have successfully done this and the sim issue or signal remain, it is possible that it's a hardware issue

[HELP] 4G LTE no longer working.

My phone no longer goes to 4g. if I flash back to the stock rom, then it works.
I've tried slimkat, slimbean, andybonestock, and cyanogenmod. On any custom rom 4g no longer works, only 3g.
Also I am on the latest firmware/radio/modem
My Phone is set to CDMA+LTE/EVDO, and whats weird... is that if I set the subscription type to NV then I GET LTE... but sms and calls do not work, only data.. Switch back to SIM then everything works but only 3g..
This happened to me. You'll need to flash the root66 build with odin. There's a set of instructions somewhere. I would link it but I'm on my tablet. Google it and let me know if you need help.

Do you have a hard case on your phone? Before I put one on I walked into a table corner and busted my sd card. Not a stretch to imagine it happening to a sim card. The back on this phone is way to flimsy.
Ive never dropped it and ive had an otterbox case on it since i got it.

[Q] not getting data at all?

Heya! My friend gave me an HTC one m8 (verizon) after my at&t was stolen. I popped in the sim card and I can make calls and send txts and all but no data. I tried changing roms and flashing kernel but nothing seems to work. called att and after some adjustment they made to my account it still didnt work. went to att store to change my sim card (they said at support that it might be a sim card issue) and still I get nothing I know that I wont get LTE but having no data at all just sux. Do you know anyone who is using ATT sim card on verizon m8?? or maybe can someone give me directions on what to do? Ive been reading about it for past few days and I see that it works great for tmobile users.
Im rooter, soff, unlocked and cid 1.

What fixes on VZW is RUU back to 5.01. Some say further but it must be Stock. Let it boot. Before doing anything else, boot into STOCK Recovery and Factory Reset. You really need to read hear as the process is covered in detail over, and over, and over, and over..........
Worth a try.

Ok, so I am having a similar issue and I've tried this with no luck. I've used all RUU except for 6.0, booted immediately back into recovery (stock b/c RUU, correct me if I'm wrong), and performed a factory reset. Any other ideas? I really love this phone, but I'm starting to lose patience.

Active Verizon sim card inserted? Do you have another sim to try? If no data at all after factory reset your modem might be toast.

It took some effort to get another sim, but that did the trick. Essentially the folks at VZW gave me a thoroughly busted SIM. All is well now.
