Hello everyone,
A few weeks ago, after using the Android Emulator for the first time I wondered how the built-in boot animation would look on the phone itself. Quick search showed no-one had bothered.
I didn't keep it as my "daily driver" but since I went to the trouble of capturing the animation and editing it into something usable, I thought some people here might like it nonetheless.
Enjoy,
Darkshado

this likes good
Actually, this animation came with my G1 back in the day in one of the stock ROMs. I wanna say 1.6 is when they started using this animation. I prefer the old 1.5 version tho
With all the flashy, complex ones people throw around, it's kinda nice to have a simple straightforward one for a change.
Not trying to be the bad guy but; most android devices actually "fall-back" to this if you delete or rename /system/media/bootanimation.zip (verified on thunderbolt and xoom) The only thing missing the the initial "ANDROID" at the top. Deleting it actually can speed up your boot times and makes your system take up less space because there are no added files.
Nice..just what I was looking for
Actually, its already built into This App (there's a free version with it as well). But this seems like a much cleaner way of doing it.
Its a good idea. My Acer a500 came with iit out of the box. Imagine that. A public product running honeycomb 3.0 with the stock android boot animation!

Some things just shouldn't make it to mainpage...
Just like all those reviews about sony erricsson devices.
Seriously? What's up with that? How much did they pay?

So, I was a little bored (too much time on my hands) and I hate the color scheme of twitter. Too baby-bluish and I've got a son on the way (just a couple months out), so I'm getting a little baby blued out. That said, I decided to waste some time inverting all of the .png's in the apk. Not the greatest of "mods", but I thought that if I found it amusing, somebody else might as well.
Oh, and I changed the Launcher icon to one from Dinik's HD2 collection here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591248&highlight=dinik
Notes:
1) I, nor XDA, am not responsible if this trashes your device.
2) The install bat places the file in /system/app, rather than /data/app. My main reason for doing this is strictly a personal preference, as I have been using Ninjamorph (thanks Stericson!) to customize all of my apps and it doesn't yet read from /data/app yet. . . so I've been placing everything into /system. lol
Instructions:
1) Extract the contents of the zip file (Winrar, Winzip, 7Zip, WinAce. . . does WinAce even exist anymore?)
2) Run Twitverted Install.bat
2a)The install bat file will automatically delete the twitter app, if you already had it installed, prior to installing this one.
3) If you don't like it, just run the removal bat and then reinstall Twitter via the market.
Nice, I'm not a big user of twitter but this looks pretty sweet, good job
not a bad idea looks like poop though lol

Right now I'm using the vanilla android boot animation of just the nice android name with the light reflecting off of it (same boot animation that my old G1 still has running carrier-provided Donut). Considering that I'm running a vanilla ROM (Fission 2.2.1), and that I have a custom boot image (3D CGI Andy slicing a 3D CGI Apple logo apple in half with a lightsaber), I have a request for a boot image file zipped that can be applied with the .zip method.
I don't have artistic skills or the appropriate programs, so I'm hoping someone here an help me out with this.
I'm wanting a boot animation where 3D CGI Andy slices and dices the 3D Apple Computer apple with his green lightsaber and then beneath this scene appears the vanilla android logo (what the vanilla android boot animation is currently).
Personally, I think this would be an awesome vanilla boot animation, so it has use beyond just my personal tastes.
Just thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone would be interested in helping me out. Thanks
Your asking a lot these things take a lot of work to create. With what you want you should throw out some money for it. I can make simple boot animations and that alone takes time. What you want will take some time and work. Maybe someone will want to try it out.

For something that sweet I'd be willing to throw some $$ out. Plus, whoever creates it then has the rights to put it on the market and charge some for it.
If I have time this weekend I'll look into it. Here's the boot animation I made to match my RX-8 and the carPC I have installed.

I know the 3d models of andy and the apple are out there because of the various images i've run across on the web using them in various poses and scenes. I'll post a few to show you what I mean:
http://www.wallpaper4me.com/wallpaper/Apple-vs-Droid-Lightsaber/
My current boot image
Someone had to create these and them model them. Yes these are the rendered results which is different than what is needed to create the render or animation, but they ARE out there I'm guessing. And I keep thinking "There's gotta be a way to animate these."
Wow that does look neat! If someone had all the photo files I could throw it all together into a bootanimation.zip

Not sure, but i do remember Cyanogen proving Quadrant gives bugged results if you mess with partitions.

Yeah, i remember that as well. Probably a similar case here rather than a real boost.
may not be completely relevant, but I've eventually got a successful run of it on the G1

scores don't really matter. And it doesn't seem any bit faster, but then again I can't really tell since I haven't gotten it stable enough to test normal apps. The UI feels more smoother-ish, not quicker just less jumpy. *note i said "-ish", because there are no apps installed so obviously it's not gonna lag.
so far for me I have only gotten it to work on the first boot, and for some reason only when I don't flash gapps (and fyi, I'm using CM 6.1).

Still, that's amazing.
Here's a link to what I posted in the N1 forums containing the update.zip with some fixes.

This is not my work, its just some fixes on others works.
Have you tried any heavy duty real world applications? Like Angry Birds or Gallery? Kwaak3 would be another application that relies heavily on loading. Maybe a web browser.
Those are the only apps that I can think of that would benefit from faster loading.

Thanks, that's looks really useful. Just wish I could download it.
Hi, I got a KF when it came out last year. I wanted to give it to my niece this year for her birthday. I'd like to put something other than the KF OS on it. Maybe CM9? That seems to be popular around here. Also I'd like to customize the screens so that a 4 year old can get to what they need and not get lost in all the extras.
Q1: Can anyone recommend an OS for it? CM7, CM9 or other. I don't need it to have all the gadgets or widgets. Just wifi, video, sound and the google market. Maybe I can strip down something already made?
Q2: I guess I would have to make some sort of custom theme for it. Does anyone know of one for kids? I want to get rid of the carousel and do maybe 3-5 BIG icons on the main screen. No extra screens (swipe to next screen). And a password protected settings icon.
I've done lots of windows and Mac programming before, but no android yet. I've got the SDK and have gone through several beginner tutorials ("Hello World", ect.)
Thanks.
Im using Cm7 currently, i suggest you to use the same! Very cool, smooth and fast.
Cm7 is quite stable, and its been fun customizing it to my liking.

Ok cool. I'll start on CM7 then. Do I need to modify the source code to customize it or can I just manipulate the configuration files and graphics?
MIUI
I'm using MIUI.us, It's still quite buggy, but it promises lot!
If it's for kids, maybe the easier way should be:
Keep stock rom
Root KF. do not register in order to keep out amazon's further upgrades
Install the apps you like
Set another launcher as default and customize it as you like. Hide/unistall what you think the kids don't need
No need to flash roms, IMO
Put the MoDaCo Rom on it. It comes preloaded with the Android Market and uses the regular Kindle Fire OS. I've used it and I think it would be perfect for your niece!
Here's a preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2QtQeOdOZg
He says in the video that the Rom is v6.2.1 (Gr2), but it is actually been updated to v6.2.2 (Gr6).
Here's the Rom: http://android.modaco.com/topic/350682-24-jan-gr6-622-modaco-custom-rom-for-the-kindle-fire/
CM7 is the only one that can do video for now. I recommend you use GO Launcher or the stock one. Don't go too overboard trying to make your own. Actually did one a few years ago for my brother to browse the internet.
Desktop VisualizeR lets you do "stickers" and put them where you please and then point them to an app. Kinda like this:

That's a really nice screenshot you have. Is that with the stock KF OS? or did you put something else on? I've downloaded the app, but the icons I get are always small, even when I give it a big image. Do I have to buy their image crop app or another one of theirs to get mine to look as good as yours?
Hello all!
First of all, I need to point out that I am a newbie when it comes to Android modifications, but I work in IT, so I have a good general knowledge on how these things work. I say "general", because obviously, working in IT does not make me a professional in this in any way...far from it. I'm just saying so in case you guys can explain to me, or point me a guide I can follow to achieve what I'd like to do Also, English is not my first language, so I apologize in advance if my text is hard to read..
I ordered a cheap chinese tablet from Aliexpress, but I can't post links...so I can't show you. But it's an Octa Core MT8752, 10 inches (really 9.6 though )
For the price I paid, it really does the job, and I am very satisfied. However, I hate the interface. It's not a big deal, but it's annoying. The icons, for one, are ugly. I own a Nexus 7 (2012 model) and it does not look the same, even if they both run on 5.1 Lollipop. I know it sounds stupid, but it bothers me Plus, everytime it boots, I see the big, ugly, Mediatek logo pop-up before the Android one does.
I'm well aware it shouldn't really matter, but I'd like to change that. Is there a way I can flash this tablet with another rom? I was already successful rooting it with KingRoot. I was about to go on and see how to make a backup with MTK Android Tools.
All that rambling to say I'd like to change the look and feel of the tablet and get rid of some junk applications that came already installed on the tablet. Some of these applications were installed by me.

The specs are as follows:
Also, it bothers me that it seems like the disk space was split in two partitions. Can I change this?
Now, I searched for a while, and I've come across what I believe may be the factory file for flashing, but I am really unsure...I wonder if these files will come with the same icons built in.
Does anyone have any experience with said tablet? I would just like to know what I can do to flash it with another rom, without screwing anything up. I'm really new at this, and I'm not even sure which guide I should follow.
Thank you for your time
