I know that the ENG means Engineering and provides you more options that the standard PVT within the boot loader. But, I'm afraid that I don't know more than that, and don'r know what additional functionality you'll get being S-ON as mine is S-OFF.

thanks for the info.. I already know about the S-ON and S-OFF, I'm just wondering about those ENG and PVT difference.. Because mine is PVT S-ON. I saw some users who has customer roms on them with PVT and some ENG.. so, just got curious. I guess you've already answered the question.

I saw this artikel the other day in which they said that eng soff would also let you flash radio's, but i guess thats wrong because with only PVT soff i can do that too

@Lacuna666: yes and no
with PVT u can do it with an PD-image
with ENG u can flash it with fastboot directly from your pc

[Q] Does someone know how to change ENG S-OFF to SHIP S-OFF?

Yes,I know flash the stock ROM to make phone as SHIP S-ON,and then SHIP S-OFF.
But, we know, the way takes so much time and I use Insprie 4G in China, and the stock ROM has no Chinese, so I should reflash it to the custom ROM that contains Chinese!
The ROM i'm using is Android_Revolution_HD-4G_3.5.zip, Clockwokmod Recovery3.0.2.4 (maybe this version?)
what I want to know now, is, how to change the ENG S-OFF to SHIP S-OFF directly since so many people say ENG S-OFF is more risky than SHIP S-OFF.
Hope someone can help me...thx
My buddy had his that said ENG S-OFF, and he just re-rooted. That changed it to SHIP S-OFF. Hope this helps.....
But how to do it?Can you supply some details?
Search is your friend.... This is covered in my cwm blackscreen thread.

[SOLVED] which ruu do i need for s-on

hey folks. i hope some1 can point me in the correct direction.
(yea 1st post _yay_ lame indeed to start with a question at all, but im following xda for quite a while.. :-| )
i want to send in my phone to warranty because i got the dust under screen problem.
i have a vodafone DE branded sensation with software version 1.35.162.1...
now, according to the guide [Guide] to Installing S-off, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on [03/AUG/11](noobproof) i want to follow the steps to gain s-on again and removin CWM.
my problem is i cant find any RUU higher than/or equal to x.35.xxx.x since downgrading doesnt work and i only have this RUU RUU_Pyramid_Vodafone_DE_1.27.162.1_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_191975_signed.
i am on stock rom now, unrooted. i came from CM7 a10.
question is which ruu can i take now and could i use a htc europe ruu by changing the cid?
thanks in advance
ok didnt look for any search terms related to the word "downgrade"...
i found a link for Eng-Hboot where i can downgrade to HBOOT Version 1.17.2008
after that i shud be able to flash lower ruu versions...
My answer maybe is a litte OT but...
Do You think they will be check which exactly ROM you should have? Also read for terms of warranty, there is nothing about loosing warranty after changing software
*** LOCKED ***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL

seems like i solved it on my own!

Trying Downloading HTC Super Tool v3(In this thread somewhere) and try its option for S-off using Gfree,Do remember to prep(ZergRush Method preffered) before attempting S-OFF
Super Tool doesn't work.... I already try it...
Then you can try the official htc bootloader unlock tool,Altough it wont be S-Off,but everything except Sim-lock and Radio will be unlocked, allowing you to root, flash custom roms & recoveries & kernels etc...

I already done it! I need to S-OFF and get Super CID, because i want to install Official Rom but for another region! I get phone with HTC_044 region - it's ASIA, and this rom don't have Russian Lang... So i want to install another RUU for some region where i will have Russian Lang, that i need!
you can do that unless the RUU's software version is not lower....

If I understood you correctly RUU must be higher then in the phone right?
So my phone version is:
>>Unlocked
>>BLISS PVT SHIP S-ON RL
>>HBOOT-1.30.0004
>>RADIO-3822.09.00.08_M
>>eMMC-boot
>>ro.carrier: HTC-Asia-SEA-WWE
>>ro.cid: HTC__044
>>ro.secure: 1
and RUU that i want to update is:
>>RUU_Bliss_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.11_Radio_20.48.30.0822U_3822.09.00.08_M_release_225120_signed.exe
But i can't install it. I get - Error 155... Why?
I don't know which error stands for which so I can't tell the reason.
I also want to make it S-Off , but i need it coz sim unlock
So would be nice to see any solution for it
s-off too
got it unlocked and rooted but still in a need of S-OFF
googling and digging showed no results
Thanks in advance!

CID - 11111111
I want to unlock my bootloader via HTCDev as i like knowing i have access to Fastboot commands if needed, but what i'm wondering, before i do this, is will it send me back to Stock CID and S-Off, or will everything be left as it is whilst just unlocking my bootloader?
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but i've had a look about and not come accross my answer.
Thanks!
It is unlocked, its just saiz locked. A common problem

Hi,
It will unlock everything for you.
But HTC will then have a record of what you have done, and this will give you warranty problems, should they ever arise.
Thanks for the help guys!
Much appriciated. I've gone as far as getting my unlock code sent to e-mail, but i've not actually flashed it yet as i was rather unsure.

Hi,
It's locked to advanced fastboot, like installing radio.
Basic fastboot like get cid is still available.
Malybru, thats pretty much why i'd want it unlocked - I'm so used to flashing radio etc via Fastboot. I know you can do it via HBoot with PG58IMG, but i've been doing it via Fastboot with my Streak, Desire HD etc and just find it easier doing it like that.

Hi,
I know what you are saying.
But you will invalidate your warranty by doing anything from HTCDEV...
EDIT:
You can always return to 1.17 HERE
this what throws me off alot, unlocking the Bootloader gives us fastboot commands, which i dont want to lose, once you have done the Revolutionary you get s-off which takes security off to flash radio etc, once we update the hboot, it says locked but its truly not, and it still says s-off so once we do the unlock from htcdev we still have s-off so fastbooting flash radio should still work since that security is still off
i searched and asked there is no real answer as everyone jus shrugs and says use the PD58IMG to do things then the thread dies or OP says ok that will be fine
and it will not fully void your warranty if its any type hardware issue, it only voids software side, as say you did a bad flash and bricked it, if they recovery it and see you are unlocked then yes its voided, but if the digitizer not responsive, power button stuck, backlight died, whatever that is still coverd
I know i could return to 1.17, but would that mess up the fact i'm running RCMix ICE 4.0.3? I'm no desperate for the Fastboot commands, but just knowing i have access to them is a weight off my mind.
I've never needed to use my HTC warranty, but loosing access to it is putting me off a little. I think i'll lay off unlocking for a while.

Oh dear, locked does not mean only basic fastboot. The hboot version determines the basic fastboot. 1.17 has advanced fastboot but none others do
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
If you've gone as far as getting the unlock code emailed across then go for it.
I unlocked mine with HTCDev first, now i have hboot 1.23 unlocked and s-off..
It's not going to clear my S-Off or Super CID i take it then?
Thats the only main reason i've been holdinf off doing it, the warranty is a downside, but it's not a huge thing. I bought the phone second hand, so i've no idea who it was first registered to anyway.
I can't answer that one i'm afraid as I did it the other way around, HTC first, then revolutionary.
TBH i'm not sure what the difference is between having an unlocked bootloader and S-Off, or whether they are one and the same. When I did the HTC unlock it said it had been successful but still said S-Off in HBoot so i used the revolutionary method as a follow up.
In retrospect I think the HTC unlock did work, at least in part, because i've flashed the most recent ruu (complete phone image direct from HTC) and have both 'unlocked' at the top and 's-off' showing in hboot. most if not all users who have not done the HTC unlock end up with a 'locked' 's-off' combination.
this doesn't really help with your dilemma unfortunately but i'm sure somone with a definitive answer will be along...
I just went ahead and did it... when the screen appeared asking if i wanted to unlock, i vol upped to Yes and pressed Power. Nothing happened, tried again, nothing happened. Pressed Power on NO my phone restarted.
Went back into Hboot, now says *** Unlocked ***, Ship S-OFF RL, and Supercid says 11111111, so all went well it seems, Only odd thing is, my rom seemed to factory reset, and the RCMix ICE splash screen has changed to the stock Android Spash Screen. All seems ok though, still rooted, etc?
Sounds promising. It's a bit of a steep learning curve at first for sure and not all of the guides and info are in plain english. Still, all's well that ends well.
All seems fine. Reading on HTCDev.com, it does factory reset your Rom and Settings, so i decided to just reflash RCMix Ice and all is well and good now.

Fastboot getvar cid shows cid - 11111111
All is good now. I agree that sometimes the guides are a little confusing, but it's the after affects that bother me just as much as what could go wrong. I'd hate to have unlocked and had everything set back to default

[Q] HELP - getting back to stock for warranty purposes

Hi everyone,
Few weeks ago my device started to overheat quite a lot when being used (I dont play 3d games, well I dont play games at all on this device), for browsing the internet on wifi or 3g network, it gets hot in the bottom part of the screen above the touch buttons. I tried buying a new battery, I bought a original HTC, but a bigger one for Evo 3D, but it is still getting hot, and I dont know whether it is a hardware issue or a software caused. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong? ...my sensation is rooted, bootloader unlocked via HTCDev, S-OFF..and I still might try to use my warranty to get it repaired but I dont want to take the chance that I would be told that the device had been unlocked and rooted and thus not being repaired...I read that it ist possible to get device back to S-ON and LOCKED, not RELOCKED, so that the repair center wont find out that it was unlocked and rooted before...but I could not find a tutorial and I also do want to brick my device so I am asking for some help how to get the device back to STOCK rom with S-ON and LOCKED status...
my bootloader says this:
-Firmware-3.33-
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.27.1100
RADIO-11.24A.3504.31_M
OpenDSP-v05.6.0.2226.00.0418
eMMC-boot
Jan 13....
Can you help me with some steps what to do or just point me to some tutorial? I would be really gratefull for any advice.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 There is pretty much everything covered about RUUs.
And gaining the ''***Locked***'' status for bootloader is impossible. It will say ''***RELOCKED***''

it is possible since you are on S-OFF
but i don't remember the link
you can use also the flashable zip(only from bootloader can be flashed)except of adb command

Okay, maybe it goes to ''Locked'' state itself once you go to S-ON/Flash a RUU

I just read that, but I am not 100% sure of anything. I haven't done it.
