So not sure how many of you may know me, but I come from the epic 4g development forums.
Can't wait to develop on a new and more powerful phone.
Looking forward to working with new devs and helping bringing some nice things to this phone

no no no DONT buy this phone!! j/k, you will love it, once you overlook its SW faults, which you as a developer should be fine with, since im guessing you see it as a challenge instead of a reason to ***** lol.
Welcome to the dark side! Hope you enjoy your stay.
LOL =D
Haha. I look forward to the challenge. Ill be focusing on Cm7 quite a bit, and start helping to get some of these bugs patched up.

amen! the more the merrier. it's been a little slow for the past week or so. i think the buggy gb release is the reason. but the more roms the merrier. welcome aboard.

Can't wait to have a stable build of CM7 on this phone. I loved it on my Nexus One and I've been missing it. But I think the hardware in this phone creates a lot of potential and should be more than useful my foreseeable mobile phone future lol.

Yeah the hardware seems to be amazing and definately looking forward to getting a fully stable cm7.
What are the main bugs in current builds?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
The battery driver pretty much needs a rewrite. A2DP is non-functional.

random reboots are one of them. on certain roms,ie. eaglesblood, i don't think i had more than 1 or 2 reboots in using it for a week or two. the same rom themed gave me a few reboots a week. i've seen others having same issue on other roms.
The a2dp is likely related to the driver, and should be able to be figured out relatively easily.
The random reboots seems a bit awkward though. Would be nice if we could get some logcats.

Congrats! Got mine on 4/20 and am very satisfied with my purchase.
Thanks everyone I'm looking forward to the phone quite a bit.
Currently with CM7, the biggest issue is getting APN's to stick after reboots or coming off wifi. It has gotten much better but it is a weird bug. In Mobile Networks, when you search for networks, it won't connect to any of them. The only option that works is Automatic.
The fix is to select a specific network, let it error out, then do automatic. Once it reconnects to the network... the data connections will pop up.
A2DP I guess is one, but I don't use it. And supposedly the battery drivers is wonky but it was wonky in Stock Froyo.
Overall CM7 has been my daily driver for a while now. I don't have any issues with reboots or anything. You just can't go by the battery% because some nights it'll say 39% then it will be dead in the water next time I look at it. I don't have random reboots. I even tested it by not feeding my flashcrack addiction and made sure to put it on a charge "when I thought it needed it" and I've been up for 5 days.
The hardware of the phone is pretty solid. No major issues other then weak software/drivers. The official Gingerbread is closing in which hopefully brings a new kernel and baseland update. Tmobile has stopped selling the current G2x because I think it is flushing out it's current stock of 2.2 in anticipation for the 2.3.3 varieties.
I think if the phone spent a little more time in the oven and just released with Gingerbread, these forums would be a much happier place. Personally I'm glad it released when it did so we could start crackin' at it and have something to play with.

Hmm I see a few different issues there. But I have a feeling I can get the APN bit patched up when I get the phone. I already have a few ideas on where to go with that. It sounds like a bit of a RIL problem to me, so I should be able to get that knocked out relatively easily.
Battery % will likely be a problem until the GB update is released, as it's likely a kernel/driver related issue.
And I agree. I don't care if a phone has a few problems upon release. Noone can be perfect, and internal testing is NOT a perfect indication of regular real world use. People need to understand that no matter how much testing gets done, it is still going to have an issue here and there.
Welcome. A couple of my buddies have an Epic, so I'm somewhat familiar w/ your quality work. And I dig cm7, so it will be great to have someone with your talent level workin' on that...
I don't know about anyone else, but I am excited! Welcome!

Battery driver issues
I think the battery driver issue itself is being considered as random reboot issue. Coz people tend to assume looking at the % that they have sufficient battery but in the background, it ain't. That might be one reason. But from what i observed in mine, it dies completely rather than reboot(but people tend to use this word more often than when actually it is a restart of the phone by itself). But u know what, to get to know how much percent is actually left in ur phone..... just plug it in the charger and remove it, the percentage refreshes.... . I Wish it refreshes with just the cable being plugged in rather than putting it in the socket .
Btwn.. Good to see a dev interested to address issues! Thanks!
Oh happy day. Im, sure you will help bring out the full potential of this glorious device combined with other devs like morific, krylon, faux and team douche. The welcome! When will you be getting the device?

Welcome, Dameon! Folks, Dameon was a critical dev in the Epic forums. I absolutely look forward to his work!
(First i wanna say: all credits are going to jug6ernaut the creator of this fix)
-= Install Script Updated =-
I want to point our devs & chefs to a fix which fixes our Battery jumping and misreading of the % level of our battery.
I know we all are suffering from this and a couple off months ago "jug6ernaut" made a fix for this problem which proved to work on the atrix 4G.
I found this fix back then while i was searching for a solution for my HTC Desire rom.
Which had the same problem and i saw this issue occurring again at the time i got my Sensation 2 months ago.
At the time i released my first Sense-o-Maniac Sense 3.5 i implanted these files and the jumping % where over.
Thought this fix will be picked up by others devs but it didn't appear to be.
So thats why i made this topic after a small discussion with "Hlenforcer" who was at first point was a bit sceptic about his.
And he is convinced after trying this fix.
I know you'll be sceptic about this fix.
But please try it and you'll see the magic
What does it do:
While my knowledge is going that far.
I can't realy say what the magic is behind these files.
But it fixes the battery jumping % which occurs after a reboot.
And it fixes the misreading of the % level, i mean our sensations are stuck at a certain % level until it drops like a stone.
I know you all will be sceptic but i'm convinced about the fix and you'll will to after trying it
I'm so convinced about this since i used these fix i never have done batt calibration.
I flash and reflash my rom for development couple off times a day.
I really can't understand why no dev picked it up since we all got the same problem.

Indeed, the real knowledge isn't mentioned in the topic by the creator of this fix.
So i hope someone with more experience on this can reveal it.
But i can tell it's for all GB 2.3.x roms.
I have tried it on my 2.3.3 Desire, 2.3.4 Wildfire S, 2.3.4 Galaxy Tab and my 2.3.5 Sensation
And it worked on all my device like a charm

I had serious jumping issues..
yesterday got Anker battery and charged to full. it remained on 100% for 5 hours in standby mode I was jumping with happiness that I got a great battery and suddenly when I stayed to use it for 10 mins my battery fell in a well.. it was 82%..
really surprised me too that Room devs have not fixed this issue when there was a cure ..
running ARHD 4.1.5 with faux kernel
I will try this and report back
On my old desire i noticed sometimes after overnight screenoff on a couple of occasions 12-15 hours later it was still 100%
Of course it dropped like a stone when i used the phone

I have to say that the first 1% starting from 100% does indeed take a log time.
But with this fix it still does but not for 5hours mine is take a bout 30min.
Also after a good night rest i see a normal batt % increase level.
I mean: going to bed with 100% and waking up with 97% after 7 hours of sleep.
This will not fix our enlarge your battery endurance only the misleading reading issue.

At least for me it worked really good! (InsertCoin 3.4.1 with bricked beta 509 and anker battery)
Would be really great, if some more ppl could join testing, flashing this should not brake anything in the ROM but you should make NAND backup ofc ...
Installed on Hypersensation with Faux's Kernel 0.23.
Looks like it's working good
Dankjewel
on ARHD it worked.... thanks...
the first 1% battery drop taking long is present in almost all custom roms except for Stock rooted by Eddy which doesn't suffer this indicator issues...
I have defintely seen the "jumping" occur
on my Sensation, on every version of ARHD since 3.1. OK, I am going to try it and report back later.
UPDATE: After installing my battery level did not change. Charging now.
That's great that it's helping but that isn't the hard part.... We've "diagnosed " the problem and have a "fix" but we have no idea what it's doing: the important part .
We really need to take these files apart and figure out WHY it's helping. Otherwise this fix is nothing but a band aid.
We may even need some dev assistance reverse engineering the files to figure out what's different.

Sharing is caring. Mind telling us what does this do?
I've been trying to follow the liquid densensed 36 thread over in android development but there is quite a bit of info there to digest. I am very grateful to jester for all the work he put into this rom so I don't want to write anything in the thread that could be construed as disrespectful to his work....so I decided to post this thread in general tbolt.
Could someone post what does NOT work in this rom?
If there is a fix for it could you post that too?
I realize most if not all flaws are due to the original leak having bugs so I'm not knocking anybody - just the opposite....but whatever the reason could you post the bugs here? That way users can make an informed choice about whether to flash. I know the prevailing sentiment is just nandroid then try it but some of us really like to know up front.
Thanks for participating....and triple thanks to jester for all his work!
Jesters version is the only one I could get to boot at all. All of the others fc my phone to death. I've ran it since he posted it and I haven't had any issues with it all. The worst thing about it is the battery life and the lag. Other than that its not to shabby.

Bluetooth doesn't work. It reboots the phone. I've also had problems with WiFi tethering. It's a very solid ROM though. But as you've said the problems from the original leak still exist. Mostly the poor battery life bothers people.
But I'm sure jester is working on this thing. Dude is a beast.
Ah. Bluetooth is sometimg I do need. That helps.
Thanks!
Bluetooth works with the .19 radio... I have no WiFi tethering and when you plug into the computer its a pita to get it to hook up as disk drive. Other then that it all works pretty darn well.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Hi,
Just want to clear up some things.
I experienced the problem with bluetooth rebooting the phone and through testing if you install the .19 radio, then the rebooting stops. Since I did this no more reboots. Also I use the bluetooth and it does work correctly and pairs quickly also.
I will also mention that when I installed the new leak that came out a few days ago that it would cause random reboots but with the radio I mentioned no reboot at all.
As to the lag and battery life I also was surprised how bad each was until..... Yes there is a fix....
There is a script that you run and then reboot the phone and since then lag is reduced drastically and battery life is much better than before of course it's as good as you will get till we get custom kernels (shout out to imoseyon!).
I hope this helps you out if so hit thanks....
Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan, let me say again at risk of repeating my op. I am VERY GRATEFUL to Jester and give him props galore for all the development he has been doing here. I don't think any developer has contributed as much to tbolt users for a long, long time.
This thread is merely meant to clarify what works, what doesn't work, and any potential fixes. His thread has grown so long and so many issues have been discussed it is hard to filter out the most critical info. I hope this thread helps with that.

There's actually an even more recent radio. Its here in the development section of the tbolt forms. I think the thread is called "ics combo radio." One radio was fixing Bluetooth but giving people wifi issues and another radio was fixing wifi but giving reboots with bt. This radio is the .19 cdma radio, along with the leaked ICS radio for lte. I'm on it now and it fixed my data issue. With every other radio I tried, I had to toggle off/on data whenever I switched from 3g to 4g. I also had a couple revolts here and there. Fingers crossed, but so far so good with the "combo radio."

I was running CM10 back in the day when it was not yet officially hosted by the CM team and I I went back to stock since there were a couple issues with the video recorder and other things. I see now that CM10 is officially being hosted by the CM team but they are still nightly, but I still would like to give it another go around. I was just wondering if there what are the major issues with the ROM right now (if any)?
The first posts don't really tell much except "it's a major work in progress" and the official change log might as well be gibberish to me, and I'm definitely not about to go through all 500+ pages, so if someone would give me a brief summary of what is/isn't working it would be much appreciated!

The night lies have been down because some changes were made to the code upstream that causes the Evita build to fail. They're working on the kernel fixes to get the night lies to compile again but apparently its very involved.

Hi
I just flashed CM10.1 RC2 to my Rogers I727R the past weekend. First time flasher and it went well thanks to all the helpful posts in the forum. after flashing, the phone runs very smoothly. However, I'm noticing a big problem: on my stock ROM, when an app FC, it jumps back to home screen. but now with this new ROM, whenever something goes wrong, my phone power got shut off completely.
I searched the forum but didn't find any post on this topic. Wondering if anyone else is noticing/suffering the same? even though it's not too frequent but it's enough to be quite annoying. I don't know how long I can stand this before reverting back to stock ROM.
Thanks!
Jake
Use a newer version of cm 10.1. It's still a work in progress so expect some issues. The random rebooting is a known issue.

Actually I would recommend going *backwards* to 04/23 nightly, nothing newer than RC2 is really better (in that there are no known bugs) than 04/23 or earlier. If you are willing to live with the issues, it's fine, but for a first time flasher, I'd say go with something a bit more stable until the known issues get ironed out. I think we are close on that, from what I've seen in the dev thread.
Thanks! do you mean the random reboot/power off issue was introduced by the RC2 build and was not in the 4/23 nightly?

Go with 04/23 for now
It was introduced in the 04/24 build when the newest kernel was used which introduced several issues. Hangs, reboots, stuttering, bluetooth issues. It also worsened the black screen on power button that was in the 04/23 build, just not as bad. The developers are getting very close and are making it more stable, but not quite ready for non-experiments in my opinion. (I redo my phone every other day as I find it fun to try the newest stuff)
I've been trying to run 06/01 thru 06/06 on clean installs, but have still had too many hangs and strange issues. Just restored 04/23. It's the best on power use and stability on my ROGER's S II LTE. I'm still using the UCMC1 radio with 04/23 and it runs very well.
I would highly recommend the 04/23 built if you rely on your phone to be stable.

All part of the joy of being a flashaholic! I think we're all a little masochistic here. We spend good money on a techno gadget then see how many different ways we can foul up the works. I keep saying to myself it's just a phone/text machine/mini computer built to make life easier, then I devote way too much time reading forums, setting up computers entirely devoted to troubleshooting/fixing/flashing androids, reserve living space for tools and a rack full of various Android devices, obsess on upload/download speeds ... and forget I do have to function in life. Us obsessive-compulsive types have to stick together!

Guess I really shouldn't have jinxed it. right after my last post saying my phone hasn't crashed for 2 days, it crashed like 4 times yesterday and today. dah... Guess I'll give 4/23 nightly a try. or Maybe a bit more adventurous and try the 6/8 nightly??

06/08 has been solid for me for a day now. I could induce lag at will previously.

Wow, I remember when I was like that, had to get on with life when I got married and had kids. Now I don't have the time to go that deep into rewriting drivers and Bios... Too time consuming, scary, but I miss it.
Thanks to all the devs who still dive into these ROMs and make them so much more than what they were.

Just me 2 cents worth on RC5 experimental, it's Great!
No crashes, no unlock issues, no lags... Battery life back to 4/23 levels. Clean install... Now I need to see if blue tooth is stable... If it is, this build is ready for prime time.

Bluetooth crashes on connect for me with RC5a, and I still get the screen freezes as well, unless I select 'Disable H/W overlays' in developer options.
Been running RC5a for past 24 hours, clean install, no hangs, reboots, no problems with unlock and had blue tooth connect for about 2 hours today without any issues. Battery life excellent. I'd suggest a clean install of anyone is having a problem.

I have been on 06/10 nightly from yesterday and facing minimal issues..
Well everything was going peachie until...
My phone went from 90% charges, plugged in a charger to zero charge in about 20 sec. I've only seen something like this once before, hoping that it was a one time glitch. On RC5a Experimental clean install. Did notice it was have charging issues early in the morning, plugged in to charger but not charging, then it would, then it wouldn't, doesn't explain going from 90 to zero though. Everything else is excellent.

wow... didn't know it's even physically possible to go from 90 to zero in 20 sec. quite interesting bug... anyway I went back to the stable 4/23 nightly last night from RC2 for the sake of a stable phone to use. Really look forward to the final stable 10.1 release!

I think the battery has to be bad. To discharge that fast the phone would have had to catch on fire due to the heat generated. That's a lot of juice in a short period of time.

Strange thing is it charged up to 100% and has been working normally now. Either really weird software glitch or temporary short/open in battery.
