I'm currently uploading the app and the media folder of the Archos Android firmware.
I have the full dump, but it is really really not interesting.
The music player of the Archos runs on Archos OS side by side with Android, so no way to port.
I think the only interesting things are the skin of the Launcher and the sounds.
I uploaded the app and the media folder.
In case any DEV wants the full dump, I'll upload it.

Please upload somewhere other than rapidshare (their service sucks)...I'm getting errors trying to download this. Can you try zshare.net please? Thanks
Yeah RapidShare is awful.. if you're after a temporary home for it I'll put it on my webspace. I doubt (hope) it'd go past my bandwidth cap.

Damn, Android has lacked a good looking, responsive and clean media player for a long time. In fact, I'd say that multimedia is the single biggest detractor from android. I was hoping that we'd get it here.
This actually looks pretty cool if this is what it looks like http://www.archos.com/
why dont you like it max?
I could not get these to work?
i got global time up n running but no option to set time any other file i need to push? thanks
never mind i got it
Global Time is not something new to the Archos. It's been around a while.
ThinkFree is awesome, I really like how it can use google docs.
Maxisma, is there any chance you can post the framework-res here? I know you said you would post the whole dump but I can't see it - 3 download links and they all go to the app_media.zip

Wow yeah ThinkFree Mobile really is a great app - I couldn't get anything else to work though, could anyone else?
Maxisma, what about the DVR Recording? That was the thing that stood out to me on it, any idea on how it works or what format it records to for playback? Any codec that isn't currently supported?
Screw Hero i want this on my Dream.

Cubed (superscript 3) is a great media player.
And bTunes would be an awesome media player if it could fit onscreen and was available to 1.6 users.
Okay so the new mytouch 3g fender edition has the HTC music player from sense UI and is running on 1.6. Question I have is will we be able to port that apk or that version onto the Nexus one. I wouldnt mind Sense UI on my N1 but until then I would love the HTC music player from my old hero.

It would probably be pixelated.
I would REALLY like to see someone try and port it. The stock music player is junk. I always loved the one in Sense.
Try Nemo Player from the Acer one.
Mixzing music player is a step above the stock one. It comes with 2 music Widgets, which are both quite attractive. I like the 4x4 one better than the sense widget actually.

Any chance of a standalone release?
At modaco, it's in the liquid area. Somebody posted the apk in the thread of the new leaked Ron.

I don't see why everyone likes Nemo so much. The buttons are smaller than the stock music player. It also picks up every single audio file I have, including all my ringtones I created, the stock one does not.
I do love the sense music app, because of the fact you can pretty much switch songs without looking at the screen. That is one of the major fallbacks of this stock music player. Swipe to skip or previous. As well as an EQ.
Sure the nemo player looks good when it comes to UI, but it has needless features (the picture gallery and ability to take photo's) which just makes me dislike it further.
If the Nemo Music player UI incorporated some useful features it might have been better, but it performs exactly the same as the stock player. I haven't found anything that makes it better, so... what makes it better?

I don't really see all the fuss. Other than a better colour scheme it doesn't really seem any better for me than the built in music app and actually lags a bit with the number of tracks I have which is much less pronounced on the standard app
Agreed, I honestly would like to see the HTC music player from Hero, that was perfect, it ran slow on the G1, but it would fly on this phone, and IMHO, that was the best player to date. It had the swipe right in the middle of the screen, which is VERY easy when driving, nice UI, and (maybe only possible w.hero) action buttons on the lock screen tied with it (amazing).
Now could someone please port THAT player? I would pay if someone could do that.
Thats one the best features I miss is the lock screen options on that HTC music player. I use my phone in the gym and Im not always trying to use pandora so it would be worth paying for to have that HTC music player back especially with that feature to use it on the lock screen. The Sense music player is as close to the ipod type that I have seen. Really lets face it I just want a little more sense UI mixed with 2.1 but the music player could probably hold me over. I will admit i am former hero user who jumped to the nexus one but no regrets. I just cant wait until there is a sense ui/2.1 rom out. I would pay money for that.
App ripped, but not fully working.
In the Acer liquid section in Modaco, someone had posted a Sense UI rom for the liquid. I was able to extract the sense music player Apk, and although it ran, it would force close immediately after opening (graphics were fine, not pixelated). I tried copying over some additional files related to the app, but still no joy. Since I don't have the installer and lack expertise, it's going to be tough to figure it out on my own I think. Anyone have any ideas? BTW, I ripped it from the liquid rom to ensure that the resolutions were comparable.

Install Droid Explorer and hook it up to your PC and use LogCat to see what errors it gives, will give an idea of where to start, at least.
Well, i found a way to run htc music player on the N1. Unfortunatly it doesn't work properly
It can play all songs stored on the Sdcard but it's unable to select a playlist or selected songs.
Whatever it's a first step and maybe someone can port this app fully working on this device.
If some of you are interested by this, i can share the zip file.

I use this one as well. Very satisfied with it, it can also intercept controls from your headset to play/pause.

I will say that doubleTwist is the best Music Player to Android atm.
Hi, I'm extremely new to Window Phone and I'm wondering what is the best way to play audiobooks on this device?
Coming from iPhone I'm used to creating a smart playlist and setting all the tracks to skip on shuffle. Can I do that on WP7? Or is an app the best solution?
I've looked at using Overdrive Media Control on Windows and an app from here zunescene.mobi/forums/index.php?topic=47145.0 to convert it to a compatible format. But then there doesn't seem to be an easy way of deleting the files.
Anyway advice would be much appreciated!

BETA: MX Player for Windows Phone and Windows Metro Apps
MX Player is now available on Windows Phone, and as a Windows Metro App.
This is the real MX Player app hosted on the Microsoft Store:
For Windows Metro App and Windows Phone: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/mx-player/9nblggh0x330
The official MX Player's publisher will always be "J2 Interactive".
Everything else that is not the above link are fakes. Please don't download them.
If you search MX Player on the Microsoft App Store, you will see a LOT of fakes.

Thank you very much
please insert multiple formats, MP4 / AVI / MKV / DivX / XviD / WMV / H.264 player
- MP3 / WAV / eAAC + / AC3 / FLAC player. And formats for subtitles if possible, you need to make metro design and speed up a little app, slowly working .Thanks very much what you made app for Windwos phone and for Windwos, I hope that you will in the future to work on it and to improve it.
cool
I'm glad to see MX player on Windows phone and Windows 8
The app is okay for now, but it looks stretched on Lumia 1520.
Microsoft should replace their official video player with MX player, it's life the best video player on all platforms.
Keep up the good work guys ?
Very happy to see MX Player for Windows Phone.
Hope to see more updates in the coming weeks !

Finally, the best media player app in android makes its way to Windows Phone platform...
I carry two phones, who used to be both android, but I was really curious about WP and so I bought a used Lumia 620, and although its a low-end phone, I'm getting to really like this OS. I already made it my main phone and I am starting to move everything I use in Android to WP.
It's true that Android is much more open and customizable, but I've reached a point that, not being a developer, I'm tired of having to root and do all kinds of tweaking to android in order to get the most out of it. I already have all the apps I need. The only ones that I miss most are Pokerstars, google play music and one that I use to mount a network drive through SSH (now I use Plex for that). And I really missed MXPlayer because of all the features it has (HW+ is a must). I really hope it reaches android version, and the feature I miss the most now is the ability to play m3u8 streams from internet (online tv site).
Though VLC is still WAY behind MX development, I believe it would be a good idea to make a donation program or something similar, as they did, because I'm willing to help out the development.
I suppose you already know this, but MS is dropping app development in Silverlight and moving to WinRT only, so apps in Windows Phone 10 will only work if developed in WinRT (in order to work on all platforms - Windows, Windows RT and Phone).
When can we expect the update ?
Eagerly waiting
I completely agree with mata_rose. Got fed up with Android a year ago and switched to WP, Im satisfied bec all apps that you used in android has an equivalent app and if not its better app in WP. You dont need to root and custom to enjoy full feature in WP..enjoying my lumia 1520 with great camera..

Relax, guys. Any bugs you see on Windows Phone and/or Windows 8 Metro apps... keep in mind that this is a recent port, to a completely new development environment. It will take time for everything to settle, and for a stable version to be released. It's STILL IN BETA right now.
