So the other day i got water on my phone and some of it got inside of the screen, so i quickly dried it off and thru my phone with the sim card and battery in bag of rice. Its been 2 days ive come back and all the water in the screen is gone!! But i got an error "UIDS on the system are inconsistent, Please wipe device or it will be unstable" So i went ahead and wiped.
My question to you is ...Do you think i will have problems down the road with this phone.

Honestly water and phones never mix. It's hard to tell if you will have future issues but if you had one complication due to damage generally more arise. If everything is working great then I wouldn't worry too much.

To be very honest, its running super smooth but when i put it on standby the LEDs under the screen sometimes stay on. They dont light up the screen but they do light up the Touch hard keys. Its alittle annoying but better then a 100$ refurb and another hour of rooting =)
You should be ok. I got wonton soup in my XV6800 once then soaked it in alcohol for a couple of hours then let it fully dry for a day, and it still works as good as the day I bought it.
Almost a year, and its still alive
IF ANYONE CARED? =)

My girlfriend dropped her vibrant into the toilet, tripped all visible water sensors, had the battery put back in it after an hour (emergency situation needed her phone). Battery was left out for another 5-6 hours, phone glitched around and did crazy **** for another day. Battery put back in following day and it worked fine like nothing ever happened.

If he was quick to remove battery in 3 seconds, otherwise even 2 weeks wont help.
Besides, it went into a toilet.
Time to get the SGS2.

I was obviously joking
Fun fact: Last I checked (about four years ago), toilet incursion was the number one cause of premature phone death.
There has to be something causing it that I'm not doing.. I mean how can I have 3 g2xs (first I scratched, second a tiny spec of dust, now third) with no reboots or sleeps of death? Yet others can't get one that doesn't..
I never use bluetooth, wifi calling, or ever have data syncing, maybe theres a feature that people use daily like bluetooth (just using that as a example) thats causing it. So the ones using this future are getting the reboots....
This reboot thing just is word to me and I feel if we figured it out this phone would be the **** (although mine is, minus blacklight bleed) and we could be half way happy again..lol
Sorry just wondering how I got 3 so far and no reboots, although I've only had my third for 2 days... Anyways, good day all... I love my g2x...
P.s. I don't buy lg knows the issue. I mean by now a update should have been pushed.. If its software that is..
I haven't had a reboot either
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
This is my second one and also have never had a reboot. The second one does have really bad bleeding though so I'm going for a third one
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
No reboots or problems with mine. When I was in the store buying mine a lady brought hers in and said that it was rebooting all the time. I was kind of sketchy on buying it then. But I bought it and I kind of assumed it was a user error. But I am happy with it coming from a My Touch 3G to the G2x.
My first G2x had major reboots but no screen bleed. pulling the battery every hour irritated me and i felt like I was breaking my battery cover every time I pulled the battery so I opt to exchange it. Fortunately, the second one I got works like a charm, no reboots but has very minor screen bleed. I'd sacrifice a minor screen bleed over constant reboots and freezes.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I had mine since day one and it has never rebooted.
The only reboots/SoD I has was using the leaked GB rom using the stock Froyo kernel.
Stock 2.2 based roms and CM based roms work fine.
I've had 3 phones already because of the screen. Never had a reboot.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
First phone rebooted constantly. Second phone hasn't rebooted at all since I got it. Same software, same everything. Both exhibited light bleed but the second one is slightly better. Might keep it
I went through 2 of them with the reboot problems, in fact, I did a complete restore back to factory with NO apps installed and I still got the reboots within less than an hour from the time that I wiped.
That having been said - I miss this phone! Why? I have no idea LOL!
If it can be figured out what the problem is I'd love to get my hands on another one!
I am on my third one. The first two had constant reboots and black screen freezes. The one I have now (third one) for 9 days had been rock solid. Then yesterday I got a screen freeze and about 12 hours later I got another one. Then this morning it frooze on the alarm and luckily I was awake and did not oversleep. About an hour ago I got a reboot and now realize it has been rebooting longer than I had realized. I use Run Manager and I had thought it was turning its self off, but today I realized that the device had been rebooting and thats why Run Manager would be off and no record of the exercise. It seems as if it just reboots randomly. I have tried it with Cardio Trainer with same results. Oh man I have 5 days left to decide whether to just return it or accept another replacement. If the SGSII was not coming out fairly soon I would definitely keep it. Just read in another thread here that devs are far and few between other devs are starting to avoid this device. Do not know how true that is, just stating what I read. Decisions Decisions
Bad day today. This morning started out with a very difficult time getting the screen to work. Everything took 2-3 touches. Some things I had to give up on. This lasted all day. A short while ago I was reading some pages and it got so bad I just pulled out my tablet. 10 minutes latter I grabbed the phone and it would not activate...just a black screen. Battery pull required. I recalled reading about black screens of death.
Is this part of a normal pattern of quality decline I'm seeing? Ill keep an eye on it for a few days, I have a 30 day remorse period.
Thoughts, suggestions, words of wisdom? Just don't say root..won't root in the remorse period.

Everything is stock out of the box. If auto bright is selected by default then yes.
What timing for this to occur. My sensation just arrived in Seattle for delivery tomorrow. Was hoping for an honest comparison.
when i first bought the phone, the screen felt insensitive too, also 2-3 touch, especially that "touch android" in the beginning to set it up. It was ridiculous for first impression
But hey, i rooted it and flashed it with a rom & kernel so everythings all good
If it helps the first g2x I got 420 I didn't root and it wouldn't turn of after a week .. rooted replacement with faux and now its been good

Sounds like after awhile the phone starts to misbehave on stock everything. I have seen other ppl complain having same issues while on stock.
I had a my phone getting hot and it rebooted after that and then apn would not stick. I'm glad I had apn backed up so it wasn't much of a problem.

Well my sensation arrived this morning at 1113. Its now 137 and its still not running. Apparently are still downloading. On the G2x, same apparently 20 minutes tops.
First thoughts after that, sensation is only a few fractions wider. Side by side no wifi, g2x pulls 2 bars 4g. Sensation 2bars 2g.
Screen comparison ...toss up..both look good...better? ?? They are different...
Scrolling is different. G2x is smooth uni page, a continuous page action. Sensation is page by page.
So far I'm leaning strongly towards g2x...except for that touch screen worry. That plays very heavy here. With no fix in sight, g2x would go back. But I've got 30 days

Just perform a factory reset or reflash your rom and kernel to fix the black screen issue. Mine started doing it and that fixed it. Everytime I tried to unlock the screen it went black but was still on technically cuz I could unlock and open apps. I had to hit the unlock button and have mg finger on the screen already to keep it from going off, then I could unlock it.

hes all stock but yea he could do a factory reset of stock rom i dont really see it doing anything unless there is a corrupt app and the way to fix that is factory reset then when it says restore backup data you uncheck it, this way it doesnt restore anything or any app that was corrupt and then start fresh one app at a time, and keep it on for a few days then if its good add another app. thats the real way to find out, it is tedious and time consuming but it u will find out what it is. but... after the remorse period he could add throw on another rom and kernel that solved my issue with sleep of death issues on stock
With stock there is a bug where it is always in engineering mode or something like that. There is a patch available in the development section, but don't remember if root is needed to apply it. How long since you last shut the phone off? If I remember right, that bug would cause everything to slow down really bad after a couple days. Try rebooting once a day and see if this issue comes back. If that works, you may be able to get by until you are willing to root.

Yes root is required because it requires ClockWorkMod to flash it.
This is why the phone boots up so quick out of the box because it doesn't preload anything but this causes it to become overloaded and run out of memory after some use and locks up.
The LG O2x had the same issues.
Stock REQUIRES the patch to function properly. Or just flash CM7 and enjoy the wealth of great features.

My thinking...and pardon the train of thought....if something out of the box is broke...like this....then...rooting it still leaves me with a device that had to be fixed...by me. I had 10 days of no issues with the G2x. I ordered and received the Sensation only because my son has one...and its nice. I have 30 days to try them out. I wanted to test them side by side....for basic comparison, the way I use a phone. Once I decide which one to keep, then root will most likely follow. But rooting to be able to compare side by side....misses the point of the comparison.
3 hrs after starting the setup on the Sensation...the battery is charged and everything is setup to test. One of the first, less obvious things I noticed on the Sensation is the multi tasking....running things like restore and browsing at the same time...is way slower than the G2x. It took 90 minutes to download the apps from backup....on the Sensation....the G2x is maybe 20 minutes. That couldn't be right and I tried it again. Still a long time. Finally I tried it again..and just let the phone sit...didn't do anything else....it downloaded just like the G2x.
When considering which phone, do I think about that slowness...in comparison to say....the Touch problems, Black screen problems....and reported rebooting....sure...thats why I'm testing them side by side.

If the phone recently gotten water damage then I recommend not powering it up for about 3-4 days to let the water dry out. Water can short out the electrical system and cause big problems.

leave it alone for 1 week minimum
bag of rice for sure 2 days minimum, washed my old mytouch 3g in the washer for 2 minutes, through it in a bag of rice went out for the weekend came back and turned it on with only some screen wash inside of it. DO NOT POWER IT ON AT ALL
Washed my Nexus One. I tried the rice trick and a couple of days on top of a hot radiator with no luck, the phone would lock up or reboot. So I bought a G2x and forgot about the Nexus in a desk drawer.
2 months later I tried the N1 again and it suddenly worked fine. I put my buggy G2x away for couple of weeks and went back to the once wet Google phone without any issues at all.
The G2x is back in my pocket now though, ROMs like Weapon 2.0 have me loving it like the cool new gadget I'd always hoped it would be.

Hey guys. So I know a few things about this phone and have been taking pretty good care of it...only two drops from about three feet away from the ground. However, I dropped it in the toilet today. Now, I put it in rice for two hours and then got it out. I tried to turn the thing on, and it succeeded. The bad thing is, when I turned it on, before my boot animation ended, the screen flickered and turned off, and that's when I pulled the battery out of my phone and continued to leave it in rice as I type this right now. Is my phone busted permanently, or is there some hope?
You should have left it to dry like 24 hrs or more. You might have fried it. Let it sit at least over night and keep your fingers crossed.

I got a friend who dropped his phone in the water once. He did the rice trick but waited for more than 24 hours before attempting the first boot.
Now his phone works great except for battery issues. He has the Galaxy Nexus, so he can't change the battery easily. He'll just wait and buy a new phone someday. He just has to keep a charger near!
What about your phone? Anything new?
Well I tried this morning, the screen first started to go sort of whitish during the boot animation. Then, the screen returned to normal but remained unresponsive to my touch...I'm leaving it to dry more because I guessed that water was still near the screen, causing it to be unresponsive.
I've done this exact thing and the phone from it, mostly. I had constant signal issues afterwards and got rid of it.
The rice does seem to work, but.. you're supposed to take the battery out immediately and put it all in the rice to dry. 2 hours isn't going to cut it.
Ok guys...so my phone turns on and does function properly...problem is,,,the touchscreen doesnt work...should I put it back into the rice?
