is there any way to turn off 4g on Samsung Charge?
I have thunderbolt myself, I chaged my radio setting to CDMA Auto.
But it doesn't work on Charge!
Help me!
To disable 4G
SETTINGS -> WIRELESS AND NETWORK -> MOBILE NETWORKS -> SYSTEM SELECTION -> CDMA MODE

Go to the market and download the LTE Switch and put it on your desktop. Problem solved.
Anyone know how to force only 4g mode?

Not that I'm aware of. Also, I'm not sure if that's a great idea, considering the spotty coverage so far.
That said, the new EE4 update that came out yesterday (2011-JUN-08) is supposed to improve 4G reception/selection.

Does anyone know if it works on the g2x? At work I can only get sprint or att so I need to find a way to force it to att network. Anyone know how?

You might wanna do gsm only for preferd network settings. You can either do it by settings>mobile networks>network mode. Or you dial *#*#4636#*#* and then under phone information, you can do the same settings. This option gives some more options and I am not sure what they do exactly. Thanks
No ty

Roam Control is for CDMA phones only (i.e. Verizon and Sprint devices)
Ok, I know I have complained about this before but when I am connected to mobile data I do not get what I am supposed to get.
I don't get "H" "4g"or "3g"all I get is
"1x"and "E"which sucks because the speed blows.
All I would like to know if there is a fix for this because I have had 4g with the stock rom and now I am on cdma which is odd
I also cannot select a band when I go into the "*#*#4636#*#*"menu -> phone information -> menu button-> select band
What I get is a "select [unsuccessful] (whichever band) message and sometimes a force close.
I don't know what to do any more because I made sure that the apn settings were correct and that I was connected to a tmobile network provider
Someone help please help me
Thanks in advance, googleme1

I would like to know this too because all I get is edge. If I reset connections, my phone picks up 4g and within a minute I'm back on Edge. It sucks. But what are the correct settings for above as I am using CM7 RC1.

Try to get a baseband switcher. I'm on the defy and that did the job.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
Well the g2x is relatively new and from my knowledge there isn't any basebands for it as well as radios...although there are some for the
Lg o2x which will probably brick my phone

Sorry that no one has attempted to answer your question. I've ran into this exact issue before. Redownload the rom and reflash it again. Once the phone boot up do not touch the phone for about 5-10 minutes! This step is important! Let the software settle in. Once its settled in then reboot the phone and then wait till your carrier (T-Mobile) pop up and then unlock the phone and depending on your area's coverage you shall now have 3g-4g signal.

T-Mobile is undergoing technical issues from a phone call I made over to them. They said that they are working on resolving the issue ASAP and that it should be within a couple of hours.

Your welcome and completely restart every single step you took to get the rom on the phone. That includes redownloading the rom and then reflashing it and just wait 5-10 minutes once it reboots. The reason why I say redo the step completely is because it could of been a bad download, a bad flash or just that you didn't give the software sometime to settle so to eliminate all possible issues do the whole step over completely!

That would be correct. WiFi uses the GSM network and not the 4G. You may not want to turn off the WiFi to keep your data usage in check. When you leave the WiFi area it will revert back to the 4G network and the use 2G will be unchecked.
Is there an app for 4G Toggle? I have two bars 3G and occasionally it will hit 4G but my phone popping in and out of service is killing my battery. Thanks in advance.

There's an app called Phone Info in the play store that can be used to set it to 3G only (CDMA auto (PRL)).

You need to select cdma auto
Hello,
I can't remember how to turn off the 4G on my phone. I'm trying to save battery life. I can't remember if I used a program or did it under settings with ICS but I can't figure out how to turn it off with JB.
Thanks
Phone info is the app you are looking for https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm15Yy5waG9uZS5QaG9uZUluZm8iXQ..
Use that and select cdma (auto prl) and then to switch back to 4g goto settings>more settings>mobile networks>network mode>lte/cdma or global
I've got to think they don't want to make this option more readily available as not only do they want people to get LTE when possible (as speed=happy customers) but they want traffic off of their EVDO network as quickly as possible. I remember how much quicker it was when EVDO A rolled out around 6 years ago.

The link above doesn't seem to work from my phone. Who is the developer?
---------- Post added at 07:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:37 PM ----------
Does anyone have the apk for this that they can share... I'm not finding it out on the play store anymore.
Phone Info app has been pulled from the Play Store. I'm also wanting to disable LTE. I'm running the latest VRBLK3 OTA
I tried to disable 4g once but it seemed like it didn't make that much of a difference on 3g and speeds were so slow that waiting for content to load probably made battery life worse. Anyways I uploaded a copy of my phone info for anyone who wants it. If its not appropriate to share this please delete. I don't see any harm as its a free app here's the link http://db.tt/6emsIZZE

Thank you for this! It works great on the latest OTA
Ive used an app called "on X" to save battery life on my HTC Merge. Its a little more complicated than other apps, but it used java codeing to do all sorts of cool stuff. I haven't gotten too deep into it, but I have it set up to turn off 4g when my phone is sleeping, and back on when its awake. It saves a bit of battery while still letting me use 4g speeds when I need them.
