You might wanna do gsm only for preferd network settings. You can either do it by settings>mobile networks>network mode. Or you dial *#*#4636#*#* and then under phone information, you can do the same settings. This option gives some more options and I am not sure what they do exactly. Thanks
No ty

Roam Control is for CDMA phones only (i.e. Verizon and Sprint devices)

is there any way to turn off 4g on Samsung Charge?
I have thunderbolt myself, I chaged my radio setting to CDMA Auto.
But it doesn't work on Charge!
Help me!
To disable 4G
SETTINGS -> WIRELESS AND NETWORK -> MOBILE NETWORKS -> SYSTEM SELECTION -> CDMA MODE

Go to the market and download the LTE Switch and put it on your desktop. Problem solved.

Not that I'm aware of. Also, I'm not sure if that's a great idea, considering the spotty coverage so far.
That said, the new EE4 update that came out yesterday (2011-JUN-08) is supposed to improve 4G reception/selection.

All of a sudden my 3g network quit working! For some reason, I'm also unable to receive sms messages, though I AM able to make calls. The up arrow on the 3G indicator flashes constantly, obviously indicating I'm trying to access data, which I am, but the down arrow stays inactive except for a few random flashes (just once and then a few minutes of nothing again). I've tried toggling airplane mode, turning mobile network on/off, rebooting the phone and I even went as far as resetting, all to no avail. This is my home where I have NEVER had any troubles with 3g. Occasionally, the phone does recieve data for long enough to load a page or anything else but the majority is just getting network errors and failures to load. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Are you rooted? If so what ROM are u running?

Also, just to be sure, what done are you using and who is your provider?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
No, I'm not, sorry for not stating that. It's an HTC Wildfire (CDMA) running on a small network here in NC (Carolina West Wireless).
And your provider?

Are you Sprint,Verizon..

Sorry Slag, the name of the Provider is Carolina West Wireless. Anyway, here's my up/down stats since last reboot: pppsent: 1315 pkts ppprecieved: 519 pkts
Check your apn settings and make sure they match your service providers settings.

Ok. Honestly, you need to be rooted.LOL. Seriously,it sounds like a network error. I would call customer service, and ask for technical support. If you are with Sprint, ask for technical support. They should be able to walk you through it. Do any of your friends have same phone and network? Check with them, and see if they are having the same issues. You stated that you did a factory data reset, can't remember if that requires reboot. Sure it does, though. Also, try doing a battery pull.

Not since the factory reset. Anyway, to be honest I cant find apn settings anywhere. From what I understand it should be settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks> But "Access Point Names" is missing.
For some reason I can't uncheck the 2g only option in network settings. I m stock GB rooted.

That would be correct. WiFi uses the GSM network and not the 4G. You may not want to turn off the WiFi to keep your data usage in check. When you leave the WiFi area it will revert back to the 4G network and the use 2G will be unchecked.
so I'm using the Verizon Galaxy S3 in my Country with a CDMA carrier, I'm using CDMA RUIM to connect to the carrier.
The problem is, when im in the EVDO coverage i cannot send SMS (no problem incoming SMS and In/Out Call) to send a sms i must manually change the network to 1xCDMA, is there any fix to this?
Thanks

What ROM are you using? Are you able to send with a 3rd party texting app or same results regardless of what app?

Well the first think i would try is your using the stock is to get off of the stock. Try using synergy rom or something with a bit more network access on the phone side. Untill i can look into it, that's all i can suggest.

Hmmm. Odd that it has no issues with anything but sms. I'll do some research and see what I can find. What country and service if you don't mind me asking?

Im in indonesia, im using a CDMA carrier called "Bakrie Telecom" / "Esia" unlike most of CDMA carrier that "inject" the Number into the handset, this carrier using CDMA RUIM.
When im using Sprints Epic 4G i used the "inject" technique too since that phone do not has a RUIM slot, and its working well.

I would agree with this. Maybe a rom with a little more network access options would help with this.

in settings, more, mobile networks, apn. really, when the sim card goes into the slot and you boot up, the right apn should be there. rarely, youll have to enter them manually. is you plan set up with data, did you call sprint?
