So I was just wondering for those of you who have used Das GB how is it compared to Das 1.7 (Froyo)? Is battery life any better? What about signal? Currently I have 0 random reboots on 1.7 but the 3G signal constantly drops to 0 bars then back up to 5. Thanks
Well the GB radio we have is just a leak and is very alpha. So it wont be as good as a froyo radio
I personally don't see much difference. I am running GB now and I like the sense 3.0 features enough to keep it but there is more modding/theming for 1.7 which if you are into that type stuff stick there.
It all has to do with your wants. Both Das BAMF versions are fantastic, but GB can run netflix, has lots of visual enhancements from Sense 3.0, ans has most of the GB behind the scenes improvements. The radio for GB i have no complaints about and I live and work in 4G areas. I personally love Sense 3.0 GB and am NOT going back to Froyo.

Here Here! Loving the netflix and cool sense 3 stuff.
I have been running Sense 3.0 preview 2 for the last couple days, love it. Prior I was running DAS BAMF 2.0-5REMIX as my daily driver loved it!!!
for me the difference between both versions of Bamf is that with gingerbread; i get gps locks almost instantly, and much better battery life (about double what i could get on froyo), i also get a more consistent 4g signal and overall smoother feel in the UI
*side note when gingerbread is mixed with sense3.0 it becomes more addictive than any street drug known to man.
For me atleast, kernels affect my battery a lot more than the actual rom.

Ok my a female friend of mine wants a better rom on her evo hates the battery life... so what is the best most stable rom out right now that has everything working with sense 3.0 ? i have been looking at these two roms but cant decide

Im not going to say your too far away because we do have these 2 ROMS (ports of them technically)
but....this is the EVO Shift section not the EVO section so to get the best possible answers (and to be saved from being flamed here) I would ask in the EVO section
On Evo you probably want to use Synergy.
On Evo Shift Supreme Sense is the best Sense rom and is really cool because it's mostly Sense 3.0. Only problem is no landscape on the home screen with it (Which they are working on).
Other than that Mikshift and Synergy are also good.
On the EVO4G I would hands down suggest MikG v2.5 - Re-Engineered GB Sense 2.1 + 3.0 . It has great battery llife, a ton of Sense 3.0 , really fast, and is completely stable. Run it on the wife's EVO, she loves it. Also have a few peeps who run it on their EVO's, Stable and Solid. With plenty of mods and extra tweaks if that's what your after. But right out of the box, an Excellent Rom.
Running BAMF 1.0.7 and was wondering if anyone has tried this? Also noticed it's a much smaller file than most roms
Its as fast and basic as you want it to be with a lot of customization options. Just upgraded from 2.6 and I'm loving it. For battery life I don't think there's a better choice.
Edit: I should note that coming from my other android phones the htc sense interface pretty much makes my skin crawl, so those have never been options for me.

Just loaded it today and it is very nice. Very fast, smooth and lots of features.
AOSP ROMs are going to be much smaller in size than Sense ROMs, averaging 100 MB or so.
This ROM is excellent. Very fast!
Drunk texted from my Thunderbreaded Bolt
Been running it since prerelease betas. It was good enough for a daily back then. Now its just stunning. Arguably the best aosp rom available...
My name is Revos I'm a recovering flashaholic running Liquid Gingerbread 3.0
What's the best ROM for the Sensation in regards with battery life? And performance too (2nd priority)?
Or what do you use and why?
I know asking this question is against the law on XDA, but my girlfriend gave me her phone and asked me make it better. I have a Droid Razr and have it rooted and such. And have rooted/flashed HD2s, HD7s, G2X, and Droid Bionics, so I am not a complete noob.
LeeDroid has been the most stable ROM Iv;e used with the best battery life and performance.
What specifically doesn't she like about the stock rom? It might be easier to make a suggestion, for example, if she hates sense.
Well she's not tech-savy. All she complains about is battery life. And something with better performance will be a nice surprise.
I just came from a few different sense 3.5 roms to an Optimized Stock rom by maff1989. I was tired of random reboots on the sense 3.5 roms plus my battery life sucked so yesterday I switched. My brother has a completely stock sensation and his battery often outlasted mine so you could probably cross those out. Just my experience.
Have you checked her battery log to see what's draining it the most?
I actually gave my girlfriend my Nexus One, which I flashed Cyan on and installed a purple theme(her favorite color) from the market, showed her how to use the photo album widgets, and such. She's become pretty savy with it now, and she loved it when I gave it to her.
Well you're never going to get "good" battery life on a Sensation, but you can improve it. My wife runs InsertCoin 2.5.5 with Bricked kernel 1.5 r1 beta 1, undervolted by 25k and she doesn't complain.
Right now I'm running Pyramid3D 8.2.1 with Bricked 1.6 beta 2 kernel, undervolted by 50k, stripped sense. This is a fresh flash, but so far, so good.
But like I said, neither of our phones have "good" battery life. If I had to rate, I'd just say "ok" but better than stock.
In my experience, they love MIUI w/ Go Launcher EX.
With the MIUI default launcher I remember she hated it. It was a "too boring" iPhone look. Go Launcher EX fixed that problem, just hook her up with the widgets in these 3 apps and she will love it

My vote goes for MIUI ROM.
Great battery life, bling, simple, looks different then other ROMs , if your gf is not concerned with sense and wants a custom Rom that does what HTC's android don't then it's the best option.
The reason that I wrote this is because in my circle people give me their androids to root them, but they have no idea what rooting is , I have tried several roms on Samsung Galaxy 3,galaxy s, galaxy s2,LG optimus one, hd2, HTC incredible, HTC EVO 3d, and more but generally people have a better opinion about MIUI, than others, and its because of different themes and outlook of MIUI, while other roms are not so different compared to MIUI (SKIN DEEP IS WAT I MEAN).I personally use ARHD 4.1.X. (Sense 3.5) on my sensation.
Well you can get her on a CM7 based rom and she already knows how to use it so that part is easy... Then secondly I would get one of the Anker extended batteries and make sure you go through a few battery cycles and on top of that try undervolting it to like a 1ghz i mean the iphone 4 is only 800mhz lol

I got 48 hours on stock. I get 24 hours on ARHD. Going back to stock then probably selling it.
Check out the ROM in my sig. I think she'll like it.
Very stable, very fast, and great battery life (1.5 - 2 days moderate use, 4+ days standby)
Pyramid 3D or LeeDROiD Sensational. My two favorite hands down, and I've tried them all.

How are you guys finding stock ICS vs stock GB
speed
battery life
ICS is so much better in my opinion. Smoother and nicer to look at and use.
Battery life is worse though for me. Having said that I can still get through the working day for my level of use so not really an issue.
I have since switched to CM9 and battery life is better, especially using deep idle.
In my opinion it is worth the upgrade.
There's plenty of Nexus S, ICS vs GB videos on youtube. Nothing says empirical better than proper side-by-side comparisons. Watch a few and let us know what you think!
In my opinion ICS pushes hardware much more than GB but the user experience is much better.
ROM and Kernel mods are not so stable in ICS than GB, probably because ICS is squeezing any hardware drop from Nexus S and mods have to be carefully balanced.
i dont fell any great differences. its very comfy, also a bit buggy sometimes, like the contakts app.
I don´t like ICS...Thats why i am still on GB. I hate it when you push the screen and you have to wait for about 2 to 3 seconds for the app to open. I want it open instantanious.
ICS lags as well. Big Minus in my eyes.
Maybe when Kernels and all that sort of stuff are optimized but i guess i´ll have an Galaxy Note before this will happen.

I really like ICS. Runs very well. It does lag a little bit from time to time and the battery is a bit worse, but I get about a day and a half on my normal use(a few phone calls, some 3G, a few texts, maybe some 2D games) and got almost 3 and a half days on very light use (a couple of phone calls and a few texts). So it's not that bad for me.
I loved GB, too, but ICS just feels better. The UI is way better. It just feels right.

i have been through same situation like you , in stock ICS, yes, laggy , but try some ROM like KANG or CM9 , and kernel , like now , i am using Kangy-S ROM with Matr1x 14.5 CFS , i feel it much faster than MIUI 2.3.7B + franco kernel.
of course , somehow , MIUI is slower than stock or CM7 ...
only the browser which renders alot faster than gb where i feel the ics performance

I've found a little lag versus gingerbread and a little more battery hungry, but it works great with Eugene's icup kernel and bigxie 's lightly modded ics. I got my GSM galaxy nexus finally so the nexus s went to my wife but its working great for her. I still have a soft spot for that phone. I think if the phone weren't always clearing things out due to ram shortages, that battery life would be more comparable to gingerbread. I get a big increase in battery life I believe on the new phone because I've always got over 300 megs free.

i've just watched a video on youtube form a guy who compared 2 similar nexus s, one with gb, the other with ics. everything seems to be a tad slower on ics, but its much smoother on the other hand.
but then again, the systems are not comparable (one device static wallpaper, the other live wallpaper. one freshly rebooted, the other not etc...)
ICS is great for me way better than GB. Battery life is pretty much the same on ICS as it is on GB.
And you guys act like GB wasn't laggy, it was VERY laggy for me on 2.3.6. I never really had any lag on ICS tho, it's probably because I did a factory reset as soon as the update was installed...
it feels like ICS pushes the hardware more ... :/ GB was a little laggy but ICS is smooth as butter on ice =P
I'm back to GB now. ICS on my Nexus s drains battery too much and a little laggy. My proof is when I am playing and charging with USB in the same time, my battery% is increase very very slower than GB. And now Its not support for my favorite browser "Opera" I hate the way of ICS stock browser. My GPS on ICS seem not stable and the speed of transferring file with PC is very slow.
Part of me has this crazy belief that we should probably be comparing Gingerbread 2.3.1 with Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3, as 2.3 has enjoyed a year of improvement following release, whereas Ice Cream Sandwich is brand new.
But nah. Android is a year later in development.
I didn't like Ice Cream Sandwich at first. It felt smooth but less snappy. However, Gingerbread can also feel less than snappy. After a few weeks (running stock) and having had a fortnight between reboots, I'll say that Ice Cream Sandwich is a more consistent performer on my device. Yes it isn't snappy, but it doesn't do that horrible thing where you try to launch an application and you wait... and wait... and wait and there it goes.
From a user interface perspective, I much prefer Ice Cream Sandwich. The improvements to the keyboard are good. It feels as significant an improvement over 2.3 as 2.3 felt over 2.1.
I don't have enough time with the Nexus S on 2.3.x to give you more than a feel for battery life, which is, it's less, but still adequate for a day of use. Usual caveats apply.
I have no battery probs just few apps not fully compatible with ics much nicer UI and looks more modern seems to me a great upgrade . Running stock

I've been running stock ICS for about a month now, and honestly, no complaints on my end. Battery life is amazing; lasts a day and a half sometimes with 3G on all time/WiFi while at work.
Sluggishness is only present when I'm opening certain apps which require data (like Facebook or Tweetdeck) and even then the lag isn't something to really complain about - unless you're reaaaaally impatient.
Can't wait to get the official OTA though since I did mine through the DIY route Thanks again XDA for helping with that!
Anyone with an interest in performance should check my thread.

Hey everyone. So I've been rolling VI since almost day one when I bought my Sensation used in February. Coming from AOSP roms on my old Desire, I wanted a similar experience. It's been running extremely smooth and it basically runs anything I throw at it.
However, I'm starting to get an itch to try out some of the new Sense 4 ROMs that have been popping up of late. I used to love Sense on the Desire, but felt it slowed down the phone considerably compared to AOSP builds (Sense 3.X especially).
Are there any performance drags by going to a Sense 4 rom? I'd love the extra features, but I also highly value snappy performance. Also I'd love to hear a few suggestions of solid Sense 4.0 ROMs to try. From what I can see, PKMN, Insertcoin, and Ordroid are popular choices?
Any thoughts? Much appreciated
There is indeed a performance drag on every sense 4 rom I've tried (all of them). Its not that they're laggy or anything but moving from application to application has a one or two second delay, sometimes more, so the roms are just kind of slower. Just do a nandroid backup and try it out.
Most people will tell you there isn't any kind of speed issue but if you favor performance like I do, you'll see it instantly.
I don't notice a problem with sense 4, in fact its very nice. Download and judge for yourself. I think you will
Be suprised on how nice they are. If you don't care for it, no harm done, just flash back. Its always best to try for yourself and make your own conclusion. Best of luck.

I've had a similar experience .. After a couple of months during which I (happily) used VI, the urge to flash was too strong.. and since VI wasn't updated any more I started trying the main roms on the forum..
Sense 4 is very nice, but I'm very sensible to smoothness and speed and imho senseless aosp rom are by far the best at the moment.
Now I've been using berserk for a while and It has become my daily driver
