Headphones compatibility - HTC Desire S

Hi there guys.
I recently broke my HTC Desire S headphones. The cable cracked and phone has been switching songs and even doing calls on its own when I twisted it for a little. I tried to repair them, but I had to open cable around jack and it doesn't look nice now.
I would like to buy these. Question is: Are those the same as shipped with DS? Does they support SRS sound (or is SRS purely software thing?)?
Thank you for your answers!

Well, yep, shortly after I posted this I was finally able to contact HTC support. They confirmed it's the same model as shipped with DS. Sorry for this topic, hopefully it will be useful for someone .

SRS is an audio enhancing software package, it is not headphone dependant.

Thanks. I'm now using old samsung headphones and my ears are bleeding, even with srs. Htc's hp are way better. Hope I'll recieve new pair soon.

Those HTC headphones shipped with the DS are terrible, just buy this and attach any good jack 3,5 headphones

If your ears are bleeding, you might want to consider not using headphones...

Agree, through them in the bin just a few days after purchasing the phone…

Can samsung headphones work on Htc phones?

any headphones work with the desire s, as ping as it has a 3.5mm jack.
yes, the 3.5mm Samsung headphones from my old galaxy s 2 and galaxy tab worked.

I use Blackberry headset on my HT Desire S; It's work great, accept incoming call and control played music.

Actually the only thing that is HTC dependent is the 4th contact on the stereo jack. How HTC hardware reactes on signals that come through that pin. Anyway, I use decent headphones only, since I'm an audiophie. Well the A/D converter isn't that nice on a phone but still.

better headset than default (or usb->minijack converter)

Hi,
The sound in the headset that comes with the Trinity is quite bad and I really want to get a better one. Does anyone know if there is anyone making good headsets (prefferrably in-ear earbuds) or alternatively a plug converter such that I can use my normal headset with the usb plug on the trinity.
This should be the nice solution for you : http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=142091&asource=HTC _P3600
(i'm getting one too, cause the BT stereo isn't that great at all...)
HTC Stereo Converter
Check this one:

Or you could check this site out. I ordered mine already and it's on the way.

I ordered from brando a couple of days ago. Wanted a silicone cover too, but he did not have those yet.
sweet thanks for the links!
the mini usb to 3.5mm converter just have a problem doesn't support microphone function...
need to remove every time you receive a call...
Any other solution... like a normal headset with microphone and a mini usb?
the oem headset's sound quality is really bad, but i recognized that you can turn music much louder than older devices like my old wallaby

I don't know if it's going to work or not, I'll post and let everybody know when I recieve it. The reason I opted for a 2.5mm headset is because I have like 3 of them lying around because my old phone used a 2.5mm and I didn't want them to go to waste.. if it doesn't work or if the sound quailty sucks I'll give a motorola mini usb headset a try.

I can tell ya ahead of time that this will not work. The moto pinouts are different from the HTC proprietary pinouts. You need to get one made for HTC phones.

why not just cut off the unwanted earpiece....
anyone managed to open the mic box on the stock headset? does it just have snap locks or is glued? I would break it open, but the operative word would probably be Break. I was considering just changing the ear phones over to some expensive ones to improve sound quality without losing the mic and usb connection.
Speedn
edit: no glue, just snap locks. Push in on the walls of the mic box on the large bit, (the bit with the button in it). slide ya fingernail into the gap an prise the top small piece off. Caution the small top piece has small pins in it so pull it straight up and not to the side.
remove old earpieces and solder new ones on, its even got L- L+ R- R+ labelled for ya.
I havent actually progressed to the attaching of new phones yet, will pick some up over the weekend mebbe.
Enjoy

Best in-ear headphones for Desire HD with Remote

Hi,
I started workin out and biking quite a bit recently and I want to purchase some earphones for my DHD. Can anyone recommend a nice set with a remote?
Thanks!
Just because I had some anyway I really like the Sony Ericsson headsets. Great sound, some have the music controls, most have a mic and can be picked up quite cheap.
The SE stereo bluetooth headsets work well too. The only issue is that song info may not be available if you go for a headset with display.
thanks for the reply. But do all the controls and mic work on the DHD?
Like these for example?
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/hpm-88?cc=pl&lc=pl#view=overview
I am using Jabra street bluetooth headset..if you like using Bluetooth then I recommend it.. good voice clarity and good backup also. Once I charge it fully I can listen to songs 8 hrs continuously

Just to let you know, it's not worthit buying any expensive set for them... DHD has *crap* audio output even from the stereo jack output...
I don't say this because I like it either

So true... One of the reason I'm very interested in the Sensation with it's "Hi-Fi audio"
I have the AH-C560R from Denon, the remote is useless (not working even on Gingerbread which was suppose to fix that...), the sound quality is really bad for me due to the DHD audio output (this thing is a joke, really !!!)
If you have experience in soldering you can do it like me:
1. take an old SonyEricsson Headset with the good inEar Phones (W810i)
2. take the stock Headset from the DHD
3. Open the 3 buttons on den DHD headset with a flat screwdriver or your fingernails
4. Desolder the old phones and remove they
5. cutt off the 3.5mm Phonejack from the SE Phones
6. solder the SE Phones to the DHD remote
7. fix all with a few drops of hot glue
8. putt the buttons back on the remote
Enjoy a new soundexperience

You seriously think it has a crappy audio output? I mean i agree on the speaker part but the headphone jack isn't bad by a long shot. Atleast not compared to my previous two phones (Xperia X1, HTC Hero).

Bluetooth
i dont know but the corded headsets, not a fan as they tangle and get in the way.
but i got Sony MW600 bluetooth headset, and its great, got 12hr music time, volume controls, pause play skip back and forward and answer hangup controls. also its got a buit in fm radio transmitter, and they have a great in ear buds in 3 diferent sizes also u can actually connect any 3.5mm headphones into it
maybe worth checking out
I use westone 3 in ear headphones, they don't have a mic but whenever someone calls me i just bring my phone closer to my mouth lol
I don't think the sound from the Desire HD through headphones is that bad, it's probably on a par with my old Nokia N96. Still, if you're into high quality audio you shouldn't really be using a mobile phone for your music!
the westone's retail for about £250 UK
R u sure the sony m600 have fm transmitter? Cos I looked all over the net and all it says that it got fm radio receiver, not transmitter

Got myself Phonak Audeo PFE 112s recently for just under 100GBP, must say the audio output on DHD is not that bad, it's not as good as an iPod touch but still really decent, especially if you use an equaliser such as powerAMP player.
But anyway would recommend the Phonak's to everyone, really good sound quality and they come with a mic and a single button that works with my DHD.
Having gone through quite a bit of experimentation on this, this is the optimal setup for me...
Sony Ericsson MW600 the three remote buttons all work well, but don't use the heat set provided, go for the...
Klipsch Image S4, very good, comfortable in the ear, though not noise canceling they do cut out a lot of external noise.
Finally PowerAmp, you won't get a better music player for the DHD that accommodates Bluetooth Stereo. Has it's only Equaliser and if you use the headset wired direct to the phone it will also allow you to use the Dolby and SRS effects for your DHD.

Agreed, I originally had a pair of Sennie CX300 II but I snapped the cable when it got caught on a door handle and thus ruined the headphones so I've gone and replaced them with a pair of CX500. Whilst they don't have a remote I think they offer the best sound quality, and best noise cancellation, for the price you pay.

Sound Quality

Can anyone with the phone comment on the sound quality of the Sensation? Also, is the volume as low through headphones as most previous HTC phones?
I use PowerAmp with pair of senhiser, sound loud and quality is awesome.
using a good set of headphones, the sound is really good!, like Hassan said, sound quality is very good and you can change the settings to how you like it.

Nice to know that I won't be wasting a pair of Westone 4s by playing my media on the Sensation.
But if you replace the original headphones of HTC, you then cant use it as a hands free speaker right? so would a person have to carry 2 sets of headphones? one for music and one if he wants to talk to someone using the hands free speaker?
Yes i think thats a downside of using own headset.

While I am still waiting for my Sensation, if this handset works the same as previous HTC phones (and there is all indication that it does), any iPhone compatible headset should work just fine.
I've been using the Creative EP-630i (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-EP...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1306766090&sr=8-1) with my HTC Nexus One and Samsung Galaxy S2. The clicker as well as the microphone work as expected. The clicker accepts or ends (long press) calls and performs special functions (like play/pause) in applications that support headset buttons (like the music player, BeyondPod, doubleTwist, ...). The in-line microphone on these earbuds is perfect for calling.
As I wrote previously, any other iPhone-headsets should perform well with this phone (and, as a matter of fact, most other Android phones). The Galaxy S (not 2!) is a popular exception as Samsung used a proprietary connector they have now deprecated with the S2.

You can also buy adapters that add a mic and button control to regular headphones.
Example:
http://www.amazon.com/Headset-Headphones-Adapter-Microphone-iTouch/dp/B002ZX695U/ref=pd_sim_e_2
Here's a thought - I've never had any Android phone before so I'm not sure whether this is possible, but on my N96 I can use regular phones as hands free while using the device's mic. That's also how I plug it into my car - I have an auxiliary 3.5 input that I simply connect my phone to and it works seamlessly.
Would this work on the Sensation as well?

Guys,
please, leave alone headphones What is the sound quality of loudspeaker and speakerphone? Older HTC android devices were so poor in this department - is sensation any different in sound quality?
Loudspeaker is 'ok', moved on slightly from Desire HD but nothing more.
However it is nice to see that equalizer options are finally available via bluetooth, including SRS. Sounds great with a good pair of bluetooth headphones
Soundquality is good, and the audible volume is the same as the desire hd. the bass is a little less (tested the same audio track & headphone). The higher frequencies are a bit richer (this is great is you like to listen to ye olde cbm64 SID sounds on droidplayer .

Where on Earth is the Stereoclip?

I can't find this thing anywhere in the US. Not Amazon, not Sprint, nowhere. I'd really REALLY like to get one. I installed a hidden Aux jack and USB in my car just for this device and I can't find one.
If there's a comparable piece of hardware out there that sounds as good, point me to it, it doesn't need to be HTC, just needs to work and not sound like a tin can like my Belkin.
http://shop.htcpedia.com/htc-car-stereoclip-audio-bridge-a100.html
HTCPedia seems to be the only one selling it. Got mine a few weeks ago, seems to work great.
Forget the HTC StereoClip. I use the Samsung HS3000 bluetooth stereo clip (it's pretty much the same thing...). It costs half as much and does the exact same thing. I'm pretty sure it uses the same APT-X codec that the HTC one does too. All you lose out on is the built in jack so you're gonna have to provide your own aux cable.
The only difference in sound quality that I can hear vs a direct aux connection is that you lose a small bit of bass, but that's to be expected since you're streaming over bluetooth anyway.
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Stere...qid=1341518840&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+hs3000
Edit: Also, the Samsung one uses Bluetooth 3.0, I'm not sure what the HTC one uses (either 3.0 or 4.0)
Edit 2: AND there's 3 "audio profiles" (manual says 5 but it lies) built into the Samsung one that you can change with a push of a button. One sounds like a tin can, one is "normal" and I believe one boosts bass a tad...though I can't really tell too much of a difference from the normal setting.
There are a few options. Sprints b&m stores and online site and att online site.

This one doesn't sound light/tinny to you? I've tried this one and it just sounded very flat or tinny no matter which setting it was on.
I just don't think Bluetooth 3.x was ever up to the challenge for lossless audio streaming. The HTC uses 4.0 and is supposedly using lossless streaming, but I haven't heard it yet.
Anyone know if the HTC Stereoclip will work with an AOSP ROM?

It doesn't sound tinny at all to me...or maybe my ears are just broken. I don't hear any difference between it and a direct aux connection except for the slight loss of bass I mentioned before. I mean...I can see things being a bit flatter than with a direct connection but not enough that I would complain about it.

Headsets for the S3.

Hi all,
I've got a pair of Bose earbuds with the mic and media controls on the headset cord, that worked beautifully as a headset for calls on my old iPhone. I realize that the media controls will not work on android, but is there a way to use these as a headset during calls? Or if there is any black magic ways to make the media controls work too, that would be amazing.
Thanks!

I've tried many headphones on the S3 that worked fine for me on the Galaxy Nexus only to find they don't work for phone calls. The only set I've found so far that works is the iBeats that come with the HTC Rezound
List for Samsung htc sony (not sony erricson) and Nokia lumia headset and headphones that work all three buttons & mic
- urbeats
- htc beats solo
- Sony smart headset
- Nocs NS200H-00
- Nokia purity
Update as I found some more
I got the Sony Ericsson mw60 Bluetooth stereo headset. Really like the led display Full music functions such as skip, rewind etc. When I'm in my car I can plug my phone in via auxiliary on head unit. I then can use the Bluetooth for voice search, music, and phone calls. It works better than the Bluetooth in the actual headset. There the hm300 by Samsung that has lossless audio but I can't complain about the quality on the Sony and the led display just sells it. Especially when I'm at work I can control the phone without having to touch it.

No because the headset was made for only apple products (hardware and not software is what's stoping the other 2 buttons from working)
Here's a few in ear headphones you could buy with android 3buttons that will work on the s3 and s4
Soul sl99s (don't forget the s in the end)
Ajay fives (android version)
Nokia purtity inear (they say windows phone but will work on android too)
Htc Urbeats (1st version also they say htc but will work on samsung s3)
APP (free) you could use with the headphone I just listed is called ajay headset control
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.jays.headsetcontrol
Hope that helps!
They also have android 3button cable
That would on few on and in ear headphones like beats solo or soul headphones
