Hi,
I have been reading a lot in this forum since I am now a new owner of the xt720 and I have been able to install and test with Dexter's and Khal's roms, however I am unable to have any internet connection other than on my WIFI.
I am on "Videotron" network in Canada, I have a nandbackup of my stock ROM and when I flash it back I can connect to their 3G network.
I think this could be related to the base band configuration of the ROM, since it seems to be coming from UK.
Is there anyone here that have been able to upgrade to froyo 2.2 on "Videotron" and connect to their 3G network?
Thanks a lot for your time.
I would think you need to set up your APN
Hi 3rdstring,
Thanks for your reply.
I have already did that, I took note of everything from the stock APN and this is still not working.
Hello,
I have played around with my "Stock" APN settings and I have manged to make it works
Now time to test froyo 2.2
Thanks
You could try something like this so you don't have to manually enter them every time>
Wow thank you very much
Will install it and backup my settings
Learning everyday on this OS.
Thanks again.
Is there anything we could do to boost our antennas? While on personared I could get a signal in a bomb shelter. For real, my house is older and has a bomb shelter. Now with steelblue, I struggle to get full signals around my house and neighborhood. Flashed back to test and personared picked up great, just not stable enough for me to make my permanent rom.
Any ideas how to boost the antenna strength?
And always remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I decided to root my i9020a cuz I wanted to try the goodies. So I installed the CM7, but didn't quite like it, so then I decided to install this rom that is a kinda inbetween the stock and the CM7, but all of a sudden it died on me after a reboot I did after several days using the rom without problems.
So, I decided to install the stock rom from here and so I did. Ever since my phone doesn't connect to the 3G network and I checked with my carrier and I didn't go over my limit or anything, so I'm thinking maybe I screwed up the baseband or something.
So I tried this, but that didn't work. Tried directly doing to 2.3.4 and also first to 2.3.3. and then updating, still no 3G.
Currently my baseband reads: NO DGSXXKB3, but I remember that when I got my phone it used to read: I9020AUCKD1
How can I get back to I9020AUCKD1? Any ideas? Am I way off and it's not the baseband? Help? I'm really desperate now after hours of lurking around google and here
For 3G I need HSDPA 850 / 1900. I'm aware the phone supports 2100, but my country doesn't.
Thanks in advance

Dude - you are a life saver!!
I don't know why, but this morning I woke up with no cell reception - no phone calls, no data - on a day my son was sick and I had to call his school - I have no landline! lol. All it would say is "Rogers" in the available networks.
Got it figured out though, wiped the thing, stock 2.3.4 image, then with the settings you had above, bam, worked like a charm. Back on koodo.
Phew! Thanks again
I have a rooted stock g2x. I tried scanning the set cpu barcode on here and it downloaded. I opened rom manger and the phone restarted but I don't see the app. Did I do something wrong?
Also I'm trapped in my contract and have NO 3g/4g in my area. Is there a way I could unlock my phone and roam other networks? (I have my phone set to data roaming with zero success) Or is AT&T 3g in a diff freq band? Also are there any benefits to changing my baseband ?
Would I still be able to make wifi calls if I used CM7? Is CM7 more stable than stock froyo?
Thanks in advance
TMO 3g and "4g" are different frequencies than ATT and other carriers in the US, so there is no way to mod the phone to use them. I'm not an expert but messing with the baseband seems to be a recipe for disaster based on my browsing of this forum.
Also I recently went from stock to Eagles Blood 2.2 which is based on cyanogen. Wifi calling works fine. SMS works fine, however mms over wifi doesn't seem to work, its a known issue. Overall the rom is noticeably faster plus there are additional options and eye candy available.
Hello all,
I travel A LOT for work. I have been to Bahrain with my Infuse before, switch Sims, works like a champ... I was on REFUSE back in Sept last time it worked.
This trip I am on CM7, and I have every modem, so I know it is not a modem issue, but neither my AT&T sim or my Zain sim will get service. In my Xperia Mini, both Sims work. Odd thing, AT&T sim will tell me I have a voice mail, but will not connect to a tower.
In the States, both Sims work, and the phone has worked here in the past. I have even flashed back to stock, and still no joy.
Is there a way to make the towers think I have an i9000, that is the only thing I can think that it could be, but it used to work... Imagine going from an Infuse to a Xperia Mini, my eyes are killing me....
What am I missing? Those that have seen me in DEV section, I always figure things out, but now I am asking for a fresh idea for you guys, I need it... Allen
I had some problems with some of the more recent modems in both Kuwait and Qatar. Then, after switching back to an older modem it took more than 15 minutes for me to finally connect to a network. I think I went back to UCKI4 and it worked for me, but again, it took a long time to finally connect. I'd try one of the older modems and just letting it sit for a while to see if it'll finally connect for you.

Being you are in Dubai, your reply is my best hope... I have every single Gingerbread modem in my CWM_ZIP folder except UCKI4... I just flashed it, will leave in on over night to see if she finds a tower, I am sure you too had to catch Zain towers, so I have hope....
Has anyone ever used a FROYO modem on Gingerbread... Refused was on UCKD5 when I was working in Sept, but I have been scared to try a FROYO modem... I do not have my Download Dongle with me, so I do not want to Soft Brick my phone over here....
I want to move my Zain sim over, but I need it talking to a tower for work, so I am hoping that the ATT Sim finally works on UCKI4. Thanks again for the tip, hope it works.... Allen
No luck... I even managed to soft brick my phone, and no jig here... Could not find any 100 ohm resistors, but I did find 4 1200 ohm, and in parallel I will get the 300 ohm to pin 4 and 5... Then I am going to try Refuse again and see if it still works. I miss my Infuse, but love Bahrain.... What to do...
I have now learned that a 500 ohm rheostat (like used on Guitars for Volume) is the best way to get 301 ohms, so I was able to get the phone back, flashed complete original stock rom...
Still NO SERVICE.
Currently back to 2.2.1 UCKD5 (tear)
Status page shows:
Network Unknown
Signal strength -51 dBm 31 asu (This is a good signal strength)
Mobile network type UMTS (She sees a 3G tower)
Service State Out of Service
Roaming Not...
Mobile network state Disconnected
Please someone one, I am stumped... How can a phone go from working, change a few Roms, softbrick a few times, then NOTHING...
Hmmmm, Service Mode..... RAT Selection Option is Restricted, did I lose my Break?
Is it possible I corrupted my nv_data.bin file... Even after I format, reflash, no luck.

hi, allen. Just a dumb question. Does apn settings have to be changed?
or a factory reset does all that?

As luck would have it, i fixed it today. I already had an APK for System Toolbox. A app for the Captivate. Under Hidden Codes (sgs users) , select service mode and gsm 900 was off. I just selected all bands and I am now on UCKL2. And after 2 Weeks I am using my Infuse is talking to the tower, life is good.
The APN is for 3G and MMS not basic calls. I am on a prepay Zain Sim so i don't want that working...

good to know...congrats.
Galaxy S 4G modems work.
A Little Background. When I first got my device I used the kexec method to flash a unofficial CM mod and lost my IMEI. I manually injected it back into my phone and flashed back to stock.
Now, I constantly lose my data connection for 15-45 seconds all the time. It happens intermentantly and is driving me nuts. Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Try flashing another modem, for me when I had the G1 modem it dropped data quite a bit. But try all the ones you're not using because some modems seem to work better for other people.

Change apn from ehprd to lte and it will change you're signal from enhanced 3g to evdo rev a witch Is standard 3g....
I don't have lte near me and has tremendously helped my 3g signal to stay at the signal level my iPhone 4s is being a pure 3g phone....

Thanks for the feedback. I will search the forums for direction on how to do these things.
So when I first got my phone the APN was set to EHRPD, and I just checked (1 week later) and it's now set to LTE and I never touched it and I am running full virgin stock out of the box... is this normal? Does it auto-switch?
I hear the modem might be an issue for a little while...hopefully devs get it fixed soon.
So are people having better luck on the F2 modem or the G1?
After reading the forums in more depth I guess lots of people are having this problem.
About 3 weeks ago after installing the update of liquidsmooth 4.4.4 i randomly started dropping to 3g service in places that i normally had full 4g available. It has slowly gotten worse to where if im not on wifi, than the phone is pretty much useless. i normally have full coverage everywhere. so i originally thought that maybe something had gotten messed up on the update, so i did a clean install of liquidsmooth 4.4, and blackbird kernal and same thing still occurred. also tried carbon rom and slimrom, and no luck. so for the fun of it, i went ahead and reflashed the phone back to stock from backups and rerooted it, updated the modems and reinstalled liquidsmooth w/ blackbird kernal, and same thing. i have went through all the mobile networks settings and tried everything and nothing seems to help, idk if that update screwed something up or if its an issue that others have been experiencing as well, or if im just screwed and my phone phone is dying.... any help is appreciated thanks

I'm currently running OmniToad, and ran CM 11M8 for a short while. On T-Mobile at least, with the custom ROMs it's normal to see H+ only when data is being transferred; it will drop back to 3G otherwise. When I ran the stock ROM on the Relay, it would always say "4G" regardless of whether it was in UMTS (3G) or HSPA+ mode. Apps like SignalCheck or CellMapper will tell you which mode it is really in.
On the other hand, if data transmission is only going through as 3G, it could be a phone issue or a tower issue. Is LTE available in your area, or are they just getting it set up? I know when T-Mobile was upgrading the Chicago area to provide LTE, there were a few glitches here and there.
It was stupid for T-Mobile to brand HSPA+ as "4G" but that's a different rant.

yea LTE has been in this area for quite a while now, i had it with my S4 and it worked perfectly, i never had a problem with the service on the relay either up untill a few weeks ago the internet speed and and data coverage was great, not quite as fast as the LTE on my S4 but it was still more than adequate, i used to use the hotspot and stream netflix on my laptop. now i can usually get a text to send but calls usually fail and if i try and use the internet its impossible. it almost seems like its doing the exact opposite of what it should be doing, as soon as i try and use anything (not while connected to wifi) than it drops coverage to 3g/edge/ or to nothing at all. Im leaning towards the hardware failing side, but i figured i might as well give it a shot and post it and see if maybe i wasnt alone. thank you for your reply.
small note of background on me: first time posting ever in this forum but have been using the tools and roms from it for a long time, so im not a complete noob, but i definitely still have a lot to learn.
