Voltage Control - OTB 1.5 Kernel - Samsung Mesmerize

Anyone care to share their voltage settings to get insane battery life?
I'm using dgas's Heinz 57 6/6/11 rom. Great rom!

Great question. If someone could explain how each setting affects the phone, that would help as well.

You can find a lot of information settings here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011626
My normal setup is
1300/1200/1000 - 50mv
800/600 - 75mv
400/200 - 100mv
Currently testing for stability (failed miserably)
1300/1200 - 50mv
1000 - 75mv
800/600 - 100mv
400/200 - 125mv
Edit: test failed. Sod and phone freezing. Sticking with what I know works but thought I'd leave the test settings for info purposes.

I run stock clock numbers, 1000 @ -50, 800 and 600 @ -75, 400 200 100 @ -100 and get great battery life and the heinz rom doesn't get laggy like some others so I haven't found a need to oc

Underclocking is also a good way to save battery.

I'm using the same voltage settings as akellar's normal setup and have found it to work well, but I've also enabled 100Mhz @ -100 and haven't had any problems.

I usually use deadline but I have no idea why. I have tried BFQ and CFQ and had issues when I was using them. No idea if it was because of them or something entirely different though. Deadline has always worked for me so I just stick with it. Don't fix what's not broke, right?

Thx

1.6 oc stable!!!

WARNING: I AM NO RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU HAVE CAUSED YOUR PHONE!!!
OC CAN BE DANGEROUS FOR THE CPU, EVERYONE KNOWS THIS AND IF YOU DONT YOU DO NOW
Ok some people will find this useful and some might not care for it, but i wanted to post this to help those who like to OC there android or in this case the SGS4G.
NEW DIRECTIONS:
what you'll need:
any sgs4g rom that supports drhonks bali 3.0 or higher
bali 3.0 or higher
IM NOT POSITIVE but you possibly need ext4 on ALL partitions
tegrak ultimate
im pretty sure drhonks kernel is what made the OC stable at higher frequencies so definitely thank him for that
its simple after you have the rom and bali 3.0 or 3.1 installed the phone will be stable at a higher frequency
so far the highest frequency ive been to is 1620 and it was very stable with the voltages at 1400 and 1200
OLD DIRECTIONS:What you will need:
fugu Tweaks which can be found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981125)
DRHONKS UV KERNEL
TEGRAK OC PAID VERSION!!!
NO SETCPU OR ANY OTHER PROGRAM LIKE IT, TEGRAK COMES WITH SCALING OPTION!!!
ok so now that you have what you need its time to push that puppy up a notch!!!
Make sure you the fugu tweaks are installed and working.
then go into Tegrak OC and use the following options for a 1.5 OC:
go into optimization option and edit CPU level 0 ONLY!!!(unless you dont have DRHONKS UV KERNEL you can change all the other levels by -25 core voltage)
Assuming you have the kernel go into CPU LEVEL 0 and change the 1000 to 1504 or 1500 it doesnt matter,
after that has been changed, change your core voltage to 1400 and your internal voltage to 1175. Last thing you need to do is make sure you scaling option in tegrak is set to conservative with 200 as your lowest frequency not 100 or else it might crash while in sleep mode.
THATS IT!!!
if you want to OC but not so high try optimizing things step by step and see what frequencies are best with what voltages.
1.4 OC settings are as followed
level 0 1000 to 1400, core voltage is 1325 and internal is 1150
1.3 OC settings are as followed
Level 0 1000 to 1300, core voltage is 1300 and internal 1125
1.2 OC settings are as followed
level 0 1000 to 1200, core voltage 1225 internal 1100
(also to improve smoothness even more try adding spare parts and blade buddy)
hope this helps!!
THANKS TO:
TEGRAK for his amazing app
NIKADEMUS for FUGU tweak
DRHONK for his amazingness in general and making the fugu tweaks known also for his kernel!
Chadster: i think you posted something on fugu tweaks as well lol
Fatherof4 for confirming that my methods work besides on my phone

How is your battery life after the OC 1.5? Also, does it make a substantial difference in speed of the UI? What advantages have you seen with overclocking your device to 1.5 ghz? I'm just checking before I try it out. Thank you.

I only went to 1.5 for the test. I've been at 1.4 for about 2 weeks. 1325/1150 and the rest core voltages underclocked by 25 except 100mhz I use setcpu for profile options and have it set to throttle down to 400/200 when screen is off. I also am using chainfire 3D.
I get 20 plus hours heavy usage.

When i first got the phone and there wasnt much development on it and I OC it, the phone would get all the way to 50C
Now with the tweaks, mods, kernel even when i run my phone on heavy use playing the game Modern Combat 2 Black Pegasus it doesnt even get to 50C on the 1.5 OC
the battery life takes a SLIGHT TOLL
i still average 20 to 30 hours on my phone with 1.5 and no charge, that is also with a pretty heavy use:
on xda, twitter, facebook, email, internet, texts, games and this is non stop all day soooooo even with the OC
ALL I SEE ARE ADVANTAGES
How the heck do you get 20-30 hours heavy usage with it overclocked? I have mine with bali kernel UV not overclocked and I get maybe 10-15 hours moderate to heavy use

I would have to agree that battery life has drastically improved due to the Bali kernel. So my next question would be is it worth it to OC versus loss of battery life or is the loss so slight that its worth sacrificing for better performance? I do have to say its pretty smooth already.

[GUIDE] Undervolting for better battery life

Since this is a popular topic and since MSNBERG requested that i make this, i have decided to make it.
THE GUIDE TO UNDERVOLTING
What you will need:
PREFERABLY the application Tegrak OVERCLOCK PAID! can also use set cpu
TEGRAK
LOAD THE OVERCLOCK MODULE
go into the "TWEAKS" section and be sure to select DEADLINE as your scheduler!!!
you will see the option "OPTIMIZATION" go there
now you will see 5 levels to customize
ONLY LEVEL 0 CAN YOU CUSTOMIZE EVERYTHING
Now if you only want to undervolt with no overclock here is the chart you need to use ON GINGERBREAD:
UNDERVOLT SETTINGS
level0 - 1000 - 1155 - 1065 -------this level can change frequency but volts need to change as well
level1 - 800 - 1040 - 1035
level2 - 400 - 955 - 960
level3 - 200 - 835 - 950
level4 - 100 - 825 - 930
once you enter these in you can go to tegraks main menu and go into "PROFILE" and you can save your current settings or choose previous ones.
Here are some overclock values you can use for level 0
LEVEL 0 1100 1100 1090
LEVEL 0 1200 1195 1095
LEVEL 0 1300 1295 1115
LEVEL 0 1400 1315 1125
LEVEL 0 1500 1375-85 1150
LEVEL 0 1600 1400 1175-1200
***THIS WILL BE UPDATED WITH MORE INFO SOON
In my best Mr. Burns voice: Excellent!

I also have stability checker off so I'm sure that's not the issue. Its fine at first but then rebootes once I start mulititasking like listening to music, texting and getting on Facebook at the same time. Seems to work fine for everyone else so I don't get what's going on

Hi guys,
Sorry for the rookey questions, but :
1. Do I need to install TegraK kernel ? If so, before or after installing TegraK overclock ?
2. Will TegraK OC free version do, or i need the paid version ? what's the difference ?
3. ICY56 - I'm having the exact configuration you have (Valhalla 1.1 and Adrenaline ShotX) can you please explain what changes you noticed regarding battery consumption, and doesn't it affect your phone responsiveness, stability and performance ?
Thanks,
Itzik.
Answers
1) Tegrak will work fine with valhalla, most (if not every) custom rom has the needed kernel already.
2) You need the paid version because free version only allows overclock up to 1.3 you cant adjust anything else.
3) I can't answer as I'm not set up the same, but from my understanding you shouldn't see any negative affects, just increased battery life.
Every time I try to undervolt my phone. It reboots constantly. Even with ICBINB KJ1. Scheduler is set to deadline and governor is set to ondemand. What am I doing wrong?

As for bettery life, I can't really comment on that yet since I'm in the process of recalibrating my battery and I haven't been on UV long enough to say but so far battery life seems to be a little better

Kernal voltages?

I'm sorry for the noob question but I really don't understand voltage terms and what's it for and how it work I was wandering if anyone could explain it to me?
In the past I would use set CPU and create a few profiles and would be done with it but I been reading on the forums about setting voltages higher and lower for better performance.
Currently i'm on eagles blood 2.3.5 ROM, trinity t15 (fun) kernel.
Any help would be much appreciated.

It's to save power and get better battery life. You lower the amount of power the chip gets at various clockspeeds until it starts not working correctly, then back up to a voltage at which the chip is stable at that clockspeed. Some chips can handle lower voltages than others while still working correctly.
Overclocking = get better performance
Undervolting = get better battery life
Both can lead to phone instability if you set the values to extremes.
Thank you for the info

It all depends on the kernel your using and if it supports UV, it should say if it does in the name of the kernel tho(just look for uv ) Setcpu 2.2.4 will allow you to change voltages only if your kernel/rom support it.
you can safely undervolt -50 -75 at most all the way up to 1.0ghz-1.1ghz i wouldn't undervolt past that.

I would say these are very extreme! My phone froze with 100 and 200 at 750. I would say keep them at 800 or 825. And don't forget to uncheck "set at boot" until they are stable.
So what are the ideal ones. Mind posting a list for 1200 and OC.

I would recommend being conservative. Take off "apply at boot", use for a couple hours and see how it goes. If there are no freezes whatsoever, set "apply at boot".
Also, SetCPU and voltage control app both of them allow to create a CWM zip file that would delete all their settings to let phone get back to default values, in case something goes wrong. Make sure to create those zips as a rollback option.
Here are what I use:
100: -150 = 800
200: -150 = 800
400: -125 = 925
800: -125 = 1075
(my phone is at max 800; works pretty good)
1200: -100 = 1175
1600: -100 = 1300
yup

Undervolting has zero to do with performance. The danger with undervolting is instability. If you undervolt too much, you'll crash because your CPU can't draw enough power to do an operation.
A certain CPU is able to do a certain amount of work in a given clock cycle, and that amount of work does not change in the slightest with voltage.
EDIT: Also, as JihadSquad said, performance keeps your CPU at 100% maximum clock speed at all times. It doesn't let it slow down. It is brutal on a battery for no real world gain.
Anyone notice when using smart ass governor it won't overclock to 1400 , it can over chick anything else but not 1400 for some reason so I have it at 1440

Ahh 1.5ghz is so smooth!, I'm running that from now on, it improves touch sensitivity

Lucky lucky piece of silicon right there. Mine can only get to 1400 and at 1440 it starts freezing sometimes, 1500 unusable.

I can only get 1300 on mine. 1400 randomly reboots on me after a while.

Or unlucky. At SetCPU's default for 1500MHz, it's running +325mV (+27.7%) from stock. So it's either really good silicon or a contender for a replacement in a few months.
Eclipse 2.0
CWM version 5.0.2.7
Baseband i510.06.FP1
Kernel 2.3.35.4-EP4-g311a209
Build SCH-I510.FP1
Lag is brutal sometimes. Speaker crackles and pops. Phone calls only last a couple minutes before the person on the other end can't hear me.
I am looking for a better solution. Any pointers would help greatly.

For one thing, you're running an EP4 kernel with a FP1 rom and radio. Install a FP1 kernel, either stock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582470) or PBJ (http://rootzwiki.com/topic/137-05-04-12peanutbutta-jelly-time/) and go from there.

I think I need to deal with the file system first. I have that discussion going in another thread.
Perhaps Odin back to stock and reapplying changes in order is in order.

Well 1500 crashed on me and 1440 was a little better but it also crashed

Did you wipe cache and dalvik. I like doing it before and after flashing kernel and rom.... don't forget to mount system, if that does not do it mount everything.... post the steps you have used before so we can better help you.

Try to fix permissions before leaving CWM. That has worked for some people trying to go back to stock.
