i have made my phone s-off(ship s-off) with XTC clip.do i need to make it to ENG S-OFF?And which is more better.
u don't have to make eng s-off but it's recommended to use it cause it will allow u to use fastboot to flash new radio & recovery
thx, which is more stable? i flashed clockworkmod recovery. is there some advantages of eng s-off
i already wrote u the advantages 1 post above... read please
and well... read the names ok? clockwordmod RECOVERY, engineering s-off BOOTLOADER
that are 2 completly different things and u can have them both at the same time
thank u very much!i am sorry about that i am not very claer about these.this
is my first time use htc.i use lg optimus one before
well every android has a bootloader, recovery, system, radio... so it isn't htc specific but the next time u'll know it
ok,and another question.if i want to flash RUU after i make the phone to eng s-off that i must make a goldcard?
if the ruu is from any other provider than u got (eg. o2 with htc ruu) u need a goldcard, but flashing a ruu will kill your eng s-off cause it flashes a new bootloader also
so if u have eng s-off, stay with custom roms or remove boot.img from the ruu before flashing it
ok,i know.so the offical ruu do not need goldcard?
it does, like i said, a ruu needs a goldcard if u change from one provider to another
if u want to debrand liek isaid before o2 -> htc u will need a goldcard
if u want to reflash your o2 rom or update your o2 rom wit hanother o2 rom, then u don't need a goldcard
thank u so much! i clear

DO NOT FLASH A NEW RUU OR OFFICIAL ROM IMAGE UNLESS YOU *REALLY* KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING !
The title says it all!

As the title suggests, this is warning against flashing the new RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_ 26.04.02.17_M2_release. It contains a new version of HBoot that breaks root and standard S-OFF! Please refer to these threads for more info:

You may be safe if you have full radio S-OFF and SuperCID but this is unconfirmed, and I would steer well clear until the DEVs have cracked open this latest HBoot.

Confirmed:
Only if you have full radio S-OFF you can 'downgrade' to 1.32xxxxxx and root
Yes, I can confirm that, too. You have to have Super-CID (Radio S-OFF) to downgrade. Rooting is not possible in this new one. Yet.
Can please someone explain me what's the real difference between ENG S OFF But CID 11111 and SHIP S OFF and CID HTC....?
ENG S-OFF: It is engineering bootloader S-OFF (may include Radio S-OFF). Allows custom bootloader commands, for example radio flashing, also allows to install custom roms.
SHIP S-OFF: Radio S-OFF, does not allow radio flashing, but allows ClockworkMod flashing. Usually comes together with SuperCID.
CID 11111111: Super-CID, Super Carrier ID, allows you to downgrade, and flash really anything to the phone without the phone saying "no thanks".
CID HTC__xxx: HTC Carrier ID, does not allow downgrading via RUU, but you can still flash through ClockworkMod if you are S-OFF.
Thank you very much for this answer..I ask because i cannot find this information somewhere in one post!
I am with ENG S-OFF and CID 11111111
So i can flash the new RUU and i am able to revert back to 1.32xxxxxx and root again.Correct?
Looks like its been rooted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9936625&postcount=91
At least it has if you flash just the system.img
Yeah but it needs clockworkmod, which goes away if people use the actual RUU. Also flashing system.img does not replace the bootloader, so S-OFF stays in fine (also hboot S-OFF).
How can you tell what your CID is?

Bootloader > Fastboot > System Info (or something like that)
If you are SuperCID then it is 11111111 if not, then it begins with HTC_xxxx
looks like also this RUU_Ace_Orange_ES_1.75.75.2_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_2 6.04.02.17_M2_release also seems to stop you gaining root and fix's patched Hboot as someone saying he flashed the rom and can't gain root.

can you tell how to extract the system.img from rom?
all i get is a [0] file. dont know what to do with it.
[HOW TO SAFELY FLASH THE NEW ROM AND BE ABLE TO REVERT BACK]
Currently, the new ROM (1.72.405.3) has a new HBOOT (so you can't install ENG HBOOT S-OFF) and is difficult to root (not as simple as it is with previous ROMs). However, it also has a better radio, and a faster ROM with various bugfixes. This ROM is also Android Froyo v2.21. If you want to try out the new ROM, whilst maintaining the ability to 'revert' back to your older, hackable state then follow the below instructions carefully. Also, do not worry about extracting system.img files and whatnot.
*It is recommended to do a NANDROID BACKUP first
*All RUUs can be obtained from www.xdafil.es/DesireHD/RUU/
*If you don't do steps 1-3 properly and flash the new ROM, you will not be able to revert back
*Radio S-OFF and SuperCID can be obtained by following instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
*Tutorial for flashing RUUs (needed for steps 4 & 8): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841890
1. Install Radio S-OFF (NOT ENG HBOOT S-OFF) and SuperCID
2. Go to bootloader, then System Info. (If System Info is not there, but you have SHIP S-OFF skip step 3 and proceed to step 4)
3. Make sure CID is 11111111 *AND* the bootloader shows S-OFF. If not, repeat step 1
4. You can now flash the new ROM (1.72.405.3)
5. This will remove ENG HBOOT (if you had it) and ClockworkMod
6. If you did steps 1-3 correctly, your Desire HD should still be S-OFF. Go to bootloader and check. If not, you did not do steps 1-3 correctly and will have to wait for the new HBOOT to be cracked.
When you are done with the new ROM and want to go back, follow the instructions below:
7. Download the HTC RUU 1.32.405.6 of your choice (Since you are SuperCID you can flash any RUU)
8. Flash it to your Desire HD
9. Root your ROM using Visionary, and install ROM Manager and flash ClockworkMod. You can optionally install ENG HBOOT S-OFF now if you like.
If you made a NANDROID Backup, you can restore this now from ClockworkMod

I have this working. The supplied .zip file does not include Superuser.apk. After following the instructions and then installing Superuser from the market I now have root on this rom.
Look forward to testing it over the next couple of days while I lay in hope of some custom roms based off this version.
EDIT: Superuser keeps force closing
My bootloader says
ACE PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85 2007 (PD9810000)
and system info says
CID-11111111
Am I good to go or shall I do something else?
Thank you for sharing info.
doh!
being used to the days of winmo I flashed this rom over my cyanogen taking a backup first.
Now I can't revert back to the old stock rom, any way of doing this (easily ish)?
Hi, I'm ENG S-Off but my CID is not 1111111, what's the safest way to do the Super-CID?
I'm stucked abroad using a **** phone cos I can't use another sim in my DHD

Hi guys, we all manage to make our phone to s-off easily using alpharevx.. but I have a question, if I need my phone for warranty, how can I make it back to s-on ? Need some info guys, thanks.....
i don't think you can do it yet but i believe it's being worked on.
It should be possible:
1. Download old europe rom 1.28.401.1
2. Extract the hboot and flash via fastboot (fastboot flash hboot example.img)
But someone says that AlpharevX hboot is protected , and is need to wait till they made unprotected hboot...
You can probably replace your HBoot through adb and then flash RUU. Well, I'm sure you can do the first part at least.
Now that we have S-OFF how can we debrand our phones? Is it enough to flash the unbranded RUU? Or do we have to do it through recovery?
I would like to know this too, would like to remove the branding from my Sensation as well.
Download a custom rom.Any chance either of you can perform a backup in recovery and upload the recovery.img please
same querry i m on s off
i installed super cid on tried to flash asia_wwe {381 mb} on mt tmobile sensation, it gave me error 130 (ruu not specific for device).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
follow the guide the flash any rom for the "unlocked" international version of the Sensation.

How is that supposed to help in debranding the phone??
ok
I installed leedroid, based on europe unbranded rom on my tmobile. i knew it before hand that would not debrand my phone, even then i did it.
i then tried to install ruu for the same version. got smae error 130 (not specific for device).
I noticed that installing leedroid did not update my baseband.(radio)
Maybe i'll try installing radio and see if it works.
Guys if anyone has any idea kindly help! we dont wana pay $30 for getting an ulock code, if it can be done on our own
S-off done
Clockworkmod
Perm Root
SuperCID installed
Update: Changed baseband as well did not work
Ok
I think the SuperCID posted in the DEV section is not working.
Because in the HTC desire Z section here, there is a post on how to debrand the phone.
and its pretty simple:
1-S off
2-CID Off
Flash any unbranded RUU from PC and good to go!
I have SuperCID installed but when i Flash RUU it give error 130 (Incoorect RUU for the Device).
So i guess SUper CID is not doing what its supposed to do
Here you go guys, I wrote up a guide in the dev section:

Thanks alexp999. Is there any difference with the SuperCID method? Is having ENG H-BOOT better? Noob questions, I know....

I prefer not changing cid, then I don't have to keep backup for warranty purposes. My method also doesn't require root.
Eng hboot is only temporary as it gets overwritten with shipped hboot when you flash the ROM from the ruu. Eng is only used to bypass cid check.
Hi,
My sensation is perm rooted, Ship S-Off and supercid-ed.
I read from some posts that we need ENG S-Off to be able to flash radio.
No wish to ENG S-off for now.
So my question is:
If i want to flash custom roms that comes with a different radio as my current, do i need ENG-Off ?
This is my 1st post and appreciate any help on this matter.
Thank you.
If you have the Revolutionary HBOOT then no as it's already good enough to do it. However, flashing a radio doesn't need ENG S-OFF at all as it's a ZIP file that you flash via HBOOT - get the radio you want to use from the Radio thread

thx Eddy for your reply ... tot no one would bother to answer a noob
i have the revolutionary hboot ...
So what is the purpose of " ENG S-Off " then ?
I have searched posts on this matter but some of them comes in conflicting explanations.
It was the 'official' version of the Revolutionary HBOOT - giving users the fastboot commands.
As Revolutionary have now cracked this it's not needed. I personally prefer to use the ENG HBOOT as I don't like the pink Revolutionary banner!!

I want to flash
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085 AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed
I made a goldcard with both mmc0 and mmc2. In mmc0 no change and again cid error. in mmc2 in one step of instalation it said my phone image version is saga...(not 1.05). but again after some step it said CID ERROR. why?
Is this possible that i made incorrect goldcard?
Sorry for bad EN.
@ayene
I have no why you can't flash that RUU, it only thing I can suggest is you make the goldcard on a different memory card.
HOWEVER I highly suggest you just s-off your phone and flash a sense 3 rom or something.
So run revolutionary so get s-off and install cwm and be done with it.
one question
what is the different between flash this ruu or flash same radio and same hboot as this ruu? i did them but wifi dont work
for people they dont know my problem:
In all ics rom wifi dont work and i had to flash the ruu to solve the problem
no answer?

+1
do like he said
RUU=RADIO UNIT UPDATE or can also be ROM UPGRADE UTILITY.
the hboot is your bootloader
The reason is that you're on custom recovery and the RUU uses android official recovery you can download the android official recovery just search for it and flash on bootloader with the name PG88IMG.zip so that the bootloader catch it
Warning: If that doesn't work out the thread below helps you fix your phone when it's stuck

@mOh19973
I am pretty sure he doesn't have a custom recovery.
