[Q] Google Apps? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I noticed with the Cyanogen Nightlies that they don't come with the google apps and was wondering what the easiest way was to put them on there for I could use the market, gmail, etc.

Download them from here -----> (http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip)
Put on SD-Card and then Flash through Recovery

Stock Weather Widget & Buddies Now

Hi,
I'm running Eclipse and wanting to install the stock weather widget & Buddies Now widget
Does anyone have the links & can try to walk me thru installing??
If it's just something that I can flash thru CWM then I'm fairly competent doing that
these are the two that I have, should be what you're looking for... they're .apks so just download, place on sd card, then navigate to them on the card with file manager of your choice and install
should be fine, worst case they don't install
herp derp forgot to upload them lol just unzip and put on sd card then install through root explorer or whatever
I may be able to make them a CWM zip if that doesn't work
thank you very much - if you can make it so that I can install thru CWM that would be great

hold on let me see if I can get them for ya...
edit: these should work but hold on let me test 'em for ya
edit2: don't download these the weather clock one bootlooped my phone, hmm let me see if I can find them somewhere else and link you
strange, I'm running Launcherpro - it won't let me install either one - they don't even show up in my widgets
when I switch back to home - I can see & install Buddies Now but can't see the weather one
check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174905
scroll down and I believe "Buddies Now TW3 style" is the buddies now you want... as for the weather clock couldn't find it but it should be in the package on that page called "TW3 and [email protected] Widgets (All)", you could rip it out of that package and install it or flash in CWM and just delete all the ones you don't want except for the clock
both are CWM flashable zips I believe
Ok, thanks for your help

[Q] YouTube OFF?

Hi Guys,
Every ROM I flash I try to Freeze/Uninstall and remove from Boot Many, the YouTube App.
I don;t use it ever, but even if it says freezed successfully it still comes back after reboot.
What's so special about it and will it creat a problem if I delete it and main question is how?
Thank you

In my other android device experience, Nook Color / Simple Touch, YouTube is instrumental in the Google Apps authentication process. For instance to get market working on nooted versions of those devices you had to sign into YouTube first.
Why are you trying to get rid of it?

Never used it, if I need to I can view it in the brother. Just another app that loads up on boot and sits there using the battery

Fair enough. Why don't you give it a try? Make a nandroid backup and then delete the file via ADB in recovery mode (or move it to /data/local/tmp for easy restore). Clear Cache / Dalvik reboot and see if anything isn't working properly.
I would say you can delete via ADB in ICS but many people, myself included, are having issues mounting /system in ICS. It could be possible that this failure for /system to consistently mount could be why TiBu isn't freezing it properly.
Use root uninstaller, its how I have removed all system apps since my gb 2.3.1 days on my x10. A very effective method
Thank you for responces.
The proper way I found would be to transfer it to a User App and uninstall.

I use 7zip. open the archive and delete it, or add whatever .apk you desire. I always do this before I even flash a rom. Winrar should work fine, though.

[Q] Help w/ apps after new ROM

Hey guys not sure if this is the right spot but had a question.
I recently flashed cynogenMod 7.2 on my inspire (att) everything was succesfull and i really love the ROM. However, I have no apps now. I did do a search (including the ones that pop up upon creation of this thread.)
I also dont have the market place/google play. I saw a site that claimed you just download the .apk file and move it to the support/apps folder (at least this is what i found worked for some) If i try to install the apps (by going to the site, weather.com for example) it tells me the app is already installed.
I dont believe i backed them up using titanium or anything like that. I just flashed the new rom. (actually flashed a few to see what i liked) If i can just get the market place and install apps from there ill be square.
Again sorry if this is such a noob question. thanks for such an awesome forum!

You can just unzip a rom on computer and take apk out of it in system-app folder. If you have es file explorer use it to install or root explorer to place in right place.
Also if T's not called market if its updated its called play store so you might have it but looking in wrong place blood under p in app drawer.

so basically i can take the cynogen zip file, open it on my pc, put the .apk for the google play store, put it in the ROMS syste/apps folder, then replace this zip file for the one thats on my sd card? or will i need to reflash from the new zip file with the google play in it?
I guess you are looking for the Google Apps. They are called gapps. Look in the CM post where you downloaded the ROM. There is a link for gapps.
All CM threads have a link for google apps or Gapps usually in the first thread. Look there. Do a search on google for "Google Play Store 3.5.16 download". Not sure if it is the most recent but it should be close. Just install it like a normal app.
Dang-it, kimtyson beat me by 2.83 seconds. lol
found the correct gapp file but how do i install it?
note: i installed one from an apk file but it crashed everytime i ran it.
dang 5 minute post gap...

one is an older gapp build the other is the newest one, both did the same thing.

Use the file manager or other root explorer, find the file and keep press...when options prompt then press properties. You will get a large number (alphanumerical) just compare it with the one provided...
If not, use the adb commands...open a cmd session and go to where the file is (usually in the root of the sdcard) then type MD5sum "name of the file"

basically all i did was find a few roms to try out, flashed one, if i didnt like it i would flash the other. one hung up and wouldnt boot so i flashed cynogen back from a backed up installation.
from there ive tried just installing gapps of 2 different types from the option "install zip from sd card."

Also make sure that the GAPPS you are flashing is for the CM version you have flashed....don´t flash CM7.2 and GAPPS for ICS cause it won´t work...
got it figured out, somehow i found a link that listed a ton of builds for the gapps, but then i found 2 seperate links that were to individual builds, those were what i needed. thanks for your help guys!

[Q] Jellybean update Help! No google related apps!

Hi,
I just updated my Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G with jellybean 4.1.2
I followed instructions pretty closely from this forum and rooted using Odin and installed jellybean.
I think the update was successfully done, and the phone has a new interface and processes a lot quicker.
My problem is however, that there isn't google apps including google play store.
I can't seem to sync my gmail account nor do I have facotry apps like google maps or youtube.
Did I mess something up?
I searched this section for a while but I don't see anyone with similar issues as mine.
Thanks in advance!
Chef
Did you flash the 4.1.2 Gapps??

flashing...?
Hi,
I'm not quite sure what "flashing" is... Sorry.
I just copied the downloaded 4.1.2 jellybean onto my external SD card, restarted the phone onto the booting mode, and selected and ran "run from sd card" option.
Did I mess up by doing so, or did I miss a step...?
Thanks,
Chef

You must also download the corresponding gapps (google apps) for that rom - in your case with 4.1.2 you need the 20121011 gapps. You then reboot to recovery and 'install zip from sd card' aka flash (or flashing) and you will have your google apps.
So basically you missed a step.
Thanks,
that makes a lot more sense now.
Let me try that.

[Q] Flashing apk files from recovery

I just tried flashing some inverted app zips in recovery, and they succeeded in breaking my phone. I flashed Dropbox, Play Store, Google Music, Google Calendar, and Hangouts. I foolishly didn't take a backup beforehand. Now my phone boots and I can enter my pattern to unlock it, but the home screen is solid black with the three buttons at the bottom. I periodically get messages that app X or Y has closed (typically Newsstand and Google Opinion Rewards).
I've acquired the original apk files, but I cannot install them--I receive an error to the effect that no program was found to handle the file. How can I install the stock apk files again? I tried coming up with a flashable zip but it's over my head. I can't uninstall anything from either Settings or the Play Store; Settings crashes and the Play Store just says "Uninstalling..." forever.
The files I flashed came from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494145
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I did attempt that, but the zips don't just contain apk files--they run scripts that replace various resources and whatnot; I wasn't entirely sure what was going on. The files I flashed are in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494145
