Only runs Cupcake though. And I'm not familiar with the Rockchip RK2808 at all.

This one has a resistive touch screen, but runs Froyo and is powered by a Cortex A8 CPU.
personally, i think the witstech a81e looks the best. resistive touch isnt bad at all if done right (touch pro 2 prooved it to me). the fact that it comes with 2.2 and the reviews support the fact that it works makes it a much more interesting product than the ramos tablet.
if i had $200 to throw, i would go with that one. and thanks for pointing these tablets out too. i haven't seen much on the news sources about this market yet. glad to know its getting bigger.
EDIT: oh, and obvious point of worth: Kick Stand built in. that is an auto-buy to me.
The Ramos is much more awesome seriously.
I bought an A81E, can't wait to get it. The resistive TS seems pretty good, for resistive.
Advantages over the W7:
kickstand
removable battery
matte screen
cortex a8, so waaay faster than the rk2808 (see http://mp4nation.net/blog/2010/08/4-way-mid-browser-speed-showdown/)
disadvantages:
larger, not pocketable
resistive
lower DPI (same res)
smaller internal storage
Okay but I find ramos awesome because:
The looks - it's like futuristic grid-computing tablet with 8exaflops FPU It looks better then anything Apple ever designed
It's great as MID - it's so thin! And fits in pocket!
And at last - it's AWESOME as entertaiment machine! It's CPU is still quite good at 3D! And movies? AWESOOOME!

Well, its a tablet, not really designed to be pocketable.
I'm tempted by the A81E myself, but I'm not sure there's any development going on for it, root access, custom firmwares, etc. Seems like it might be a good device for some community love, more so than something like the Augen GenTouch which could be completely discontinued before too long.

When's it arrive? I get paid in a day or two, still on the fence. Has the A81E been rooted? Haven't really been following tablets much, first got interested when I heard there was a CM flavor coming for the Augen Gentouch, but the Witstech device looks like a much better gadget. On paper at least.

I am also thinking about getting the A81E, I get paid on thursday, so thats when I will be ordering it. Is anybody working on this device on the rooting and custom Roms front?
Thats what I want to know. Doubt we'll see much serious development of Android tablets until the first tier vendors, Asus, MSI, Samsung, etc, launch their higher end devices.
If I were to order an A81E on 18 Aug, think it would arrive before 1 Sept?

I've found that the A81E has a PowerVR SGX GPU that can do 10MPoly/s so it'll be like a little bit faster iPhone 3g in 3d gaming.

Dang!! you beat me to the post.. I love the new GMail app, and the home screen
wow. can't wait to rock this on the gtab. want that gmail app.
Hardware Requirements
It also looks like its going to require a dual core processor, thankfully we've got that, if thats true, it sucks to be a Galaxy Tab owner or Archos owner.
Maybe it's just me, but the video reminded me of the videos that Notion Ink has been teasing for the Adam?
When Notion was teasing the pre-order, they had a number on their blog that corresponded to a ratio that shows up in bees' honeycombs, but no one really could figure out why. Maybe they (Notion) was hinting about the similarity of their UI with Google's Honeycomb?
Any info on the screen resolution requirements?
AMAZING!!! this will make 1 GHz Dual ARM Cortex-A9 processor finally be used like it has to be used nicee!
I really hope we can get this on our Gtabs!! Cause it looks fun!
We could ask the viewsonic person here, he should know more about whether they have an upgrade path for it after the ces event. As far as i know, the current screen may not be good enough.. we need more pixals. Anyways, elocity is going to release 10 inch honeycomb tablet soon... maybe, we can share the rom.

Holy Carp I love this device. I had resigned myself to a damn iPad when I found the Gtab at Staples.
I am so excited about this upgrade. I really hope this gets pushed out to us.

**Just wanted to point out that part of the reason I like the Gtab so much is the work done by the developers here. As I read more I learn more and every time I make an adjustment I like the Gtab even more. Many thanks to Rothnic, Roebeet and all the others doing so much work to make this device sing.

do we still have the screen limitation? the LG demo and Xoom demo looks like very high-res.
A closer look at Honeycomb at Verizon's CES Keynote:

I just bought a Viewsonic Gtab on Woot last night. How will honeycomb run on that 512mb ram? All the current tabs have 1gb ram so this seems like it might be an issue. Just wondering. Cheers - jtaylor991
P.S. I'd love to learn how to help you guys in doing this stuff
aww why did you have to point that out ;( lol now im skeptical.im pretty sure xda will get honeycomb running on 512mb,maybe without the 3d animations but owell, and i hope i used skeptical correctly in the sentence above lol

nice work i was worried
If gingerbread can run on my original mt3g, honeycreams can run on the Gtab. I can't foresee the android os doubling in size over night. Even if it did it would all be crap bloatware. Froyo has over 30megs of crap bloatware that are considered system apps and loaded into ram. That's like 1/4 of the total size of the os. Five minutes with system app remover and its all good.
They put Honey Comb on the G1 original released android phone from T-Mobile, I think were going to be just fine lol
Maybe Roebeet or any other Xoom owner can tell us how much free ram he has on a freshly booted Xoom. That should give us some kind of indication if 512mb is enough, right?
512 is fine... y settle for less, get a zoom or something else for twice the price if your woried
the ram in g tablet is extendable to over 1gb.
You have to open it and weld it yourself; the issue with this is that current roms(froyo and gingerbread) dont support the upgrade without the necessary modifications. If we get a honeycream rom with 1gb and 513kb variants, surely, whoever wants can make the ram upgrade in their local computing workshop or by themselves.
Cheer for the mods and lets wait a little longer for the honeycream AOSP and a port for g tablet.

Thank you! So it looks like all we would need are the 4 chips, then create a custom stencel to create the solder beads and then just heat them up enough to melt the solder on just the chips themselves without burning up the rest of the board lol.
IDK if anyones seen how they re bead the xbox 360's in mexico, but im sure its the same concept.
It looks like the ram on it are standard Hynix ram. Pat number HY5PS1G831C

I wonder if theres a premade stencil for this. hmm, maybe some fun lol
FYI there 4x 128mb ddr2, I'm sure if I can find a stick of memory with the same rom chips on them for cheap I could desolder ball it and try it out for fun! IDK though, I just got it like last week lol
Google’s $199 “Nexus tablet“, that we first reported on back in March, appeared online this week in Rightware’s Basemark ES 2.0 Taiji benchmark test. Most of the details revealed in the benchmark match up with what was previous reported. The device will be made by ASUS, feature a 7-inch display with 1280×768 resolution, and use NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor.

sounds like a sweet tablet for $200. id take this over a Kindle fire anyday! they found a benchmark that shows its specs. Also shows a version number JRN51B showing the J for Jellybean
What’s new in this benchmark result is the Android version 4.1. Rightware tells us this is the only device they have ever seen to include Android 4.1. The device also featured a software build number JRN51B, which is important because J represents Jelly Bean.
Some of us had speculated that Jelly Bean would be a major release and become Android 5.0, but this new evidence suggest it will be more of a minor update and be labeled Android 4.1. We reached out to a second source who claims to have seen the Nexus tablet, and they also said it was running Android 4.1.

7 inch is way better honestly. I sold my transformer for this flyer, don't miss it at all, aside from all the development. If that nexus tablet really will be 200, I'll sell this thing for around the same price and just pick up a brand new nexus. I'm hoping for huge development. Plus, its confirmed this flyer will never see official HTC ics, and aosp doesn't seem like a very big potential. I love HTC build quality, 10x better than Asus, but I think with the specs and nexus name it'll be worth it.

Asus is a lot different when it comes to the boot loader stuff, and there really isn't an s on, or s off thing. Its really weird to get used to after being around HTC for so long. All I know, is that when I rooted my transformer, it just took a few adb commands. No rebooting over and over, or anything, like with the Inc, or wire stuff with this phone. But as for quality, at least with the original tf101, the quality was honestly terrible. It creaked on every side, because of the plastic cover, and because of the ips screen, there was light bleed with almost every model of it produced. It sucks when you see it for the first time, because after that you can never unsee it. I mean, its only on black screens, but it just gets on my nerves. It seems like they're doing much better with the tf201, and tf300 now though. Let's just hope Google kicked them straight and put enough strain on them to produce way better quality than they usually do.

Profit for everyone involved. The iPhone only costs 180 bucks to produce.
I might pick one up to check out the snapdragon S4. Price is right at less than 400.00 for Tablet & Dock. What's you all thoughts on this.
http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/t...lenovo.com/products/us/tablet/ideapad/s2110/#
its very classy. i think the resolution is going to be like normal and not near 1900*1200. the dock has good outputs, the price is sweet, very good contender but maybe not as strong as the transformer. in the htc one x the s4 is beating the tegra 3 in everything but gaming, but on the infinity they are using a new tegra 3 which is a lot better. also this is only 16 gigs for 399$ with no micro sd on the tablet all on the dock.
the infinity did a lot right on hardware man, once the devs pick things up, i dont see any tablet contending til 2013 +
I believe it is 343 for the 16gb version and 375 for 32gb. The dock is 56.00. I'm still curious how well I/O is on it compared to my tf700. I'm all about Asus and wouldn't trade it for another but might be good spare or extra toy for the money.
Originally saw it here. I think you get the discount in shopping cart.

After reading about the asus I/O problems, I ordered one of these yesterday.
If you order it from lenovo's site (rather than amazon), the price is $431 for the 32GB with the keyboard dock.
The tab is more comparable to the asus TF300. It has a 1200x800 IPS display. The dock has 2 USB ports, 1 SD card slot and a micro-USB for charging only.
From what I've been reading, it may actually be faster than the Tegra for everything but games. In raw benchmarks the Tegra 3 always wins. However, in real-world apps (browser, editing files, etc.), the s4 beats the Tegra 3 because the S4's cores are faster and most apps don't utilize all the Tegra's cores. So...as long as it doesn't come with the asus I/O problems, it could a better tablet for someone who isn't looking to play games.

Hello there fellow Idahoan!
I might be a bit hesitant to get Lenovo, they make pretty good laptops and desktops (they took over IBM's personal computer division), but their tablets only have so so ratings. That said, it does look really nice for the price.

Hello back. Anything on fire down In the southern Idaho region.
Yea I have never had a Lenovo anything. Right now we have a tf101 2 tf300's and I just traded my month old prime for the tf700. Other than Asus all we have had is an Acer a500 and a a200. For the money though if anything the lenovo would be a great spare and maybe I can help lift their ratings. lol
Whoops I didn't realize you are a Californian now.

I'm not buying another Lenovo until I see better build quality and cooling solutions. My Lenovo laptop is great, but the build quality is garbage and they totally screwed up how the GPU and CPU are supposed to be cooled. I expect this Lenovo tablet to be similar...a great tablet, but poor build quality and it will probably get very hot. It's just like the laptops...Asus makes a slightly better laptop in the division for a little bit more, but it's a solid product.

Doesnt have the resolution, and Lenovo doesn't have a good track record for dev support. Not to mention its kinda ugly. Its good for the price, but I'd still rather have the Infinity.

I was born and raised in CA, but I have a lot of family in SE Idaho, in Pocatello, Chubbuck, Idaho Falls, Arimo, Downey, McCammon, Marsh Valley, Preston and one cousin over in Boise (he's from IF though). We lived in Poky from 90-97, we moved there in 90 when I graduated HS in SoCal to help take care of my grandparents, and I attended Idaho State (Class of 97), as did my dad and about a bazillion other family members lol The rest of my family is scattered across CA, UT, WA, OR and AZ My family helped settle SE Idaho with the Mormon Pioneers, so that should give you an idea of my deep Spud Roots, so to speak hehe My mom and dad both are native SE Idahoans, they graduated Pocatello High in 1952.
Back to the Lenovo thing, I think I'd try it out, I mean for less than 400 bucks you would end up with a VERY respectable rig, and if it doesn't work out you can always send it back and go with the Asus.

I hear ya there, I probably wouldn't either, dual core, 720 P and DDR2 RAM, not quite the device the TF700 is. Cool about Twin, I don't have any family there, but I know the area well.

It all depends on what you want and/or can afford.

The Ford Escort gets better gas mileage and it wouldn't bother me to loan out. Plus when my Maserati is in the shop I will at least have my back up Ferd.
