I bought an unlocked g2x over ebay. I plan to root it and flash another rom (the current system is not stable, it cannot wake up once a while). I am wondering if flashing a new rom will erase the status of the unlock. Thanks.
Nope. Once unlocked, you are unlocked forever!
cool, thanks

Hi, I have already rooted and unlocked my bootloader then proceeded to flash a custom ROM. I want to try out a different ROM so do I have to re-do the whole root and unlock bootloader process ? I know its just flash one simple zip file in recovery but the reason I ask is my phone got soft bricked last time around.

Once it's unlocked you don't need to do it again unless you intentionally re-lock it or get a new phone.
Also be careful if you somehow get vzw OTA pushed to your phone (sometimes happens without you knowing it) it will lock your bootloader again and when you go to flash it will say something about taking your phone to verizon. Don't panic as most people do all you have to do is unlock again and everything will be fine
Hi there!, i have a brand new moto G like 4 days ago, i want to know some points about unlocking the boot loader, so would be very nice if someone can clear my doubts about it....
1 - When you unlock the boot loader, you lost something more than the warranty from motorola an OTA updates?
2 - If i install a custom recovery, can i make a working full nand backup of my original carrier rom? ( 14.71.8.falcon_umts.AmericaMovil.en.CL )
3 - Is there a way to download official firmwares from motorola servers? i cant find 14.71.8.falcon_umts.AmericaMovil.en.CL anywhere.
4 - Can i can i make a working full nand backup of my original carrier rom WITHOUT UNLOCKING and FLASH ANOTHER STOCK ROM FROM OTHER COUNTRY? (Ex: US Global)
Best regards!!
Probably best to start by reading the multitude of posts already covering all your questions.
1 -When unlocking the bootloader, you'll need to get the unlock code from motorola... you will loose only warranty. if i were you, i'll use the phone for a week or two to test the hardware such as battery,etc...
2 -Yes, you can also fastboot a custom recovery to do a nandroid backup of your carrrier rom. But you'll need to unlock the bootloader.
3 - You can get most stock firmware from the android dev section.. please check if yours is listed there.
4 - Without unlocking the bootloader, you can't fastboot custom recovery nor install one, but you can flash stock firmware but can't confirm from another country.

Guys i really sorry for this noob question but im kinda lost whit this phone...
I was using a moto x but this droid ultra its different.
Actually my phone has the 4.4 firmware and im already rooted (used towelroot) ¿there is any way to unlock the bootloader for free?
EDIT: Im lost... Completely lost.
Towelroot doesn't work, towelpieroot its temporal, I can't flash twrp via "app" or fastboot (cuz boot loader locked)...
I dont know what else can I do... Sorry if this was asked before but I can't find answers in the forum.
Unlocked bootloader whit sunshine... Now im afraid to lock it again.
In order to reach 4.4.2 ¿should i flash twrp, root from there and then take the ota?

Update first then flash twrp. You won't lock the bootloader. Once unlocked you stay that way.

Thank you Casey, ¿even if i flash motoboot.img whit rds? That file contain the bootloader. Just in theory
Hello. Even though im having real issues finding oem unlock and am desperate to twrp and root for custom roms. I just recently red that SM-G955F are bootloader unlocked by default. Is this true? Can I go ahead and flash twrp with odin?
Device: SO-03J (Docomo)
Software: Android 8.0
Build number: 41.3.B.1.197
Status: Not rooted/Bootloader locked
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Hi, I want to ask if my device here could potentially flash a global rom or any other stock rom variants that could enable me to unlock the bootloader. If can, I want to know which roms are allowed to be bootloader unlocked. I personally dont care if things will be buggy and wont work because as soon as I flash the roms I would quickly flash twrp and flash my chosen custom rom (If I could..and thats one thing again to ask. Can I flash any custom roms posted on XDA to my phone...?). As to why I'm asking this question is that I'm looking to boost my devices performance, latest android version(if possible),prolong battery, resolve heat issues and resolve the terrible wifi signal (keeps disconnecting and poor reception). I hope I've given enough information for this and sorry for the multiple questions asked.
Same with my Xperia Z1 but still can't unlock the bootloader if bootloader unlock allowed say NO
yes. you can flash global rom via using sony flash tool
working fine..but bootloader unlock status still says NO
but flashing global rom makes more useful..
