[Q] Problem Installing Any Zip File - General Questions and Answers

I have a Tmobile G2 and I am having trouble installing any zip files from recovery. I have tried flashing four different ROMS and only cm7 flashed without a problem. I thought my problem had to do with ROMS, but any other zip file that I am told to install through recovery gives me the error message:
Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
Installation aborted.
It is so insanely frustrating! Please help!

Anyone have any help?

When installing rom you should not be installing an update. Are you selecting apply update from zip? Or do you select install zip from sd?

Have you ever install custom kernel with CwMR integrated yet?
If not, do so b4 flashing custom ROM
Thanks for your response. I am a rookie in this mather. I tried with a ROM MANAGER but the app, I feel only handling CWR ROM's???.
It's ask about permissions a I applied. Later I open the recovery (up/down volume, power & home bottons), but I didn't see any different options than wipe,s update boot and locate room from the sd. My Zip handler in free fkrom the market.
I am still confuse with the message.

no ROM MANAGER has almost all available roms for ur device.
so i guess you should be using clockworkmod recovery.
while in recovery choose install zip from sd card. and in there ull find toggle signature verfication.

Hi friend...time with no contact..jaja. I need a new help from you. I read in others forums that the problem with the AT&T SG2 to install other ROMS or Kernel is based in the 3rd edition of the Recovery System which not permit to open zip files without verification of the signature.
They recomend to downgrade to a second edition trough a personalize kernel and install with ODIN. This kernel has to locate in XDA forum as a zip file like CF-Root-XXX bla-bla...to install later. I checked and is confused due to a several options. that the point of the help I need from you.
My phone OS is coming with Gb 2.3.4
Baseband version I777UCKH7
KERNEL version 2.6.35.7
Build number UCKH7
Could you please directed me which version of the CF-Root.... have to download????
Thanks a lot again

Stop using cwm
I didn't have any problems so far with cwm. I worked quite well with all Roms, even with earlier releases of the cm10 Rom.

problem solved: installation worked with the 09/20 built

No rom working

I am having a really weird problem on my Htc explorer.Never faced any like this. In twrp recovery some roms cm10 are not getting flashed. Installation stops with an error. While some roms like cm9 install but when they boot constant eroor occur like "android.phone has stopped working" and these errors keep coming so u can't use the rom. I flashed cmw, created ext 4 partition, also did so using twrp latest recovery but no luck. I am facing this problem and I am unable to even make a call using the phone. Please help me to solve this major problem///

"checking for md5 file...
Skipping md5 check: no md4 file

Never Mind found fix!
How did you fix? I have same problem

Are you flashing the rom from internal memory or SD card?
The 'Status 7' error is only due to not using the most current recovery (TWRP = 2.6.3.1 and CWM Touch = 6.0.4.3)... if you have one of those, then move the rom file to your SD card and flash from there.
I've run both recoveries and haven't encountered that error since I updated to the newest... however, I always install from my SD card.

Sounds like the OTA zip might be corrupt. Have you tried redownloading it? Also, you're using stock recovery, correct?

Its because your phone is rooted and custom recovery is installed, it doesn't play well with official lollipop update. Unroot device and revert to stock recovery then try to install the lollipop update again.

i know how to unroot but how do i revert my phone back to stock recovery?
If asked nicely:

I don't understand that
Sent from my XT1033 using XDA Free mobile app
Download the stock ROM for your phone. Extract the recovery.img file.
If you are using a Windows machine, boot the phone into fastboot mode, install fastboot drivers, connect phone, open a command prompt, type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", press the enter key, disconnect phone, boot into recovery using the phone's volume buttons.
From where?
And how do I get the recovery in file
Sent from my XT1033 using XDA Free mobile app
Search for your ROM here: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=100&page=1
See my post above for the fastboot command to flash recovery.
I don't have a modified rom
Sent from my XT1033 using XDA Free mobile app
I thought you had a modified ROM because the title of your post is "E:signature verification failed installation aborted cwm moto g 2013".
CWM is a custom recovery and wouldn't be part of a stock ROM.
I installed it manually using rom Manager

it always shows this

Are you using a custom recovery to install the OTA update? You need to be on a completely stock ROM to install the OTA update.
how do I do that
