wifi error - Thunderbolt General

i know people say its a kernel issue and may well be. i have tried reflashing the kernel and it did not work

more information might help...

Delete wpa_supplicant.conf in /data/misc/wifi and reboot.

I'm right there with you. I've flashed five different kernels and none lately through km.
An explanation on the wpa file and why I should delete something I don't know what does would be awesome brajonrondo.

What Kernel are you flashing?
What wifi error are you getting?

OK i got it fixed. before i was flashing the kernel with the kernal manager. i manually downloaded it and saved it to the card. i then flashed the kernel with clockwork mod and now it works.

try rebooting? if that doesn't work try reflashing, maybe try a data wipe as well.

This issue has been addressed with lmartin92, and I'm in the process of testing a new build of his to see if it will fix the 3g issues for some mesmerize users. As soon as I know something I'll post it.
If you're losing 3g connection, copy ect/ppp/ from Heinz57 and reboot, a complete wipe may be needed also.

I just tried that. It didnt seem to work, i even flashed it multiple times.
ok kids, we got it resolved, it was a kernel issue.
You can copy the redbend_ua from any mesmerize rom into the cm7 kernel_update folder and change any references in the updater.script from "bmlwrite" to "redbend_ua"
Then enjoy gingerbread with 3g.
Of course, I'm sure lmartin92 will repost the fixed cm7 soon if you aren't savvy enough to get those instructions done.

G-Sensor Stopped Working

I noticed yesterday that my phone won't go into landscape mode. Not for typing, not for Launcher Pro, not for anything that isn't in landscape by default. I have the "Auto Rotate" box clicked, and I have Auto Rotate selected in LP. I even downloaded AndroSensor, and it doesn't register anything happening with the sensor (it just sits on "waiting for event").
I can't figure out what would have caused this. Any suggestions?
Try unchecking the auto rotate and rebooting. Then recheck auto rotate and reboot again. That normally fixes little bugs like that for me

Which kernel.. could try reflashing the kernel. Make.sure to wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing.

I wouldn't think it was the kernel. I've been running that for a couple of months with no problems. The problem just manifested itself a couple of days ago.
Yeah I don't either. But you would be surprised what wiping cache and dalvik does. And reflashing it couldn't hurt. If that didn't work then I would Odin the ee19 full build back to the phone. Wipe everything and see if the problem persist. As for what's causing it I couldn't tell ya. It could just a corrupt driver. Another thing you could try before.flashing or anything is just to take the battery out and let it sit for five or ten minutes. That will reset and clear any latches in the.components on the board, or so I've been told, and see what that does.

That file that you suggested deleting doesn't exist. Are you sure that was the right file name?
Sent from my SCH-I500
I just looked and mine is not there either, probably because I deleted it. My sensor works fine. Try reflashing your rom and see if that fixes it; for me this issue has only appeared when I stay on a rom for long periods of time. Now I'm on MIUI and I flash a new version every week so I don't have the sensor issues any more.. last time I had problems was when I was on like froyo PicknPack or something that didn't change/update often.
I've heard if you rub the g-sensor a little you can get it going...
Ok that was bad...
I updated to Gingerbread and the G-sensor is back to normal.

Good to hear. I recommend MIUI because it is a fantastic rom and updates every friday; CM7 is also good but for us doesn't update as often.

[Q] Oxygen 2.2.1 on Nexus S 4G

I was running this ROM for a couple of weeks with no issues. All of a sudden if I reboot my phone and the second I unlock it I get a launcher FC???? Is anyone else getting this? I cleared davlik cache a few times with no luck. I even did a factory reset to reinstall and same issue. I really like this ROM too because of the them engine and all.
Have you tried fixing permissions in ROM manager or in recovery?
Also, what kernel are you using?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
fixing permissions?? sorry but I have no idea what that is referring to. I was using the kernel that came with the ROM and I believe that it's Netarchy. I even flashed Math's 5.5 and 6.0 kernel but that didnt help.

To fix permissions, reboot into recovery, click on "Advanced" then "fix permissions"
If you can get into ROM Manager you can open the app and click on "Fix Permissions"
Dam, I just finished installing petes ROM 8/19 and setting everything up lol. I really like the oxygenROM so I'm willing to try that. I will have to go thru recovery since I cant even get to the homescreen when I boot.
Do you know if this actually helps? I mean from experience.
I figured out what was causing the FC's. I downloaded a few CM7 themes from the market (basic white, honeybread) and these were causing the issue. I just setup everything again and downloaded Pure Red theme and no FC after a number of test reboots.
Sweet!

[Q] Wifi Calling In CM7 alpha5

I installed CM7 alpha and this got rid on the Wifi Calling app. It doesn't even show up in manage applications.
I've tried flashing t0ny0's fixes and xboarders but nothing helps...
Anyone know what to do?
Try wiping cache and dalvik. If that doesn't work, nandroid backup and then factory reset. CM7 #5 does indeed have working wifi calling app
Same thing happened to me. Is there a way to install it separately?
From what I have read in the thread its suggested you wipe davlik b4 and after flashing. Cm,and also flash fixes posted within thread.
I have done all of that and still nothing...
Its not that it doesn't work, its that its nonexistent.
Did you it install for you in alpha 4?
Hmmmm, it's there for me. Well, there's a zip u can flash in the op of core Droid ROM

Ok thanks. I'm thinking it has to do with the do with the fix I installed from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1261008
Maybe it somehow messed with some settings, but then again even if I go to my sense rom and clear everything and flashing cm7 alpha 5 and format everything wifi calling is still messed up...
I'll try again
Edit: i saw other people have had this problem in persiansown's thread

Do you have TMOUS sensation? If you do, paste me the output of: cat /proc/cmdline
The reason it is disappearing is that on flash, we check to see if you have a TMOUS sensation4g via your modelID, and if you don't we remove the apk. That way both euro and US people can use the same build.

Also I just reverted to stock via ruu, updated to ota, then flashed latest cm7 alpha6, and still no wifi calling
Persiansown says its probably due to people with super cid. The app is in the zip but it has a nonsensical file name. According to him the cm7 they built for sensation checks your cid and only installs the wifi calling app if your system has the t-mobile cid.
For anyone not on t-mobile, the app is just worthless bloat. Doing it this way means they only need to maintain one ROM file for both t-mobile and European phones.

[Q]wifi problems in ICS

hello,
i've been trying to get my mt4gs to turn wifi on in ics. when i turn it on it says, "turning on" but just goes back to "off". i tried turning it on via settings and via the panel. i do a full wipe every install -reset data, clear cache, wipe dalvik cache. also not sure if it's related adb cannot detect device when booted but works fine in recovery when in ics.
i've read and tried the various .zip files for various radio/kernel posted by football but still no go. i may be overlooking a step when flashing but here is my device info:
CWM Recovery version 5.5.0.4 also used 5.0.2.7
Baseband: 11.59.3504.00U_11.16.3504.20_2
HBOOT: Unlocked
DOUBLESHOT PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.45.0013
RADIO-11.16.3504.20_4
Nov 21 2011
it works using gingerbread - tried OTA Stock, as well as bulletproof and it connects ok, but i need to turn wifi off first if i need to reboot otherwise i get the same issue, wifi won't turn on.
sorry for the long post, and forgive me if i missed an already existing thread. thanks for reading. any help is greatly appreciated.
well what rom are you using
I had the same problem with certain ROMs. Sometimes it would even say instead of switching back to off it would just say error. I used Dark Raider for Vivid and had that problem. I did everything and gave up. I downgraded my vivid to GB and rooted it. WiFi is an essential to me so I have to stay where I can switch it on. I hope there's a fix for this soon.

when you flash a rom, are you restoring a backup in titanium or something?
i have never had this problem and i have tried every rom on xda and rootzwiki
I've had this happen too. I've fixed it by using fastboot and flashing the boot.img from the ROM or Kernel update that I had last installed. My phone is s-on so I have to do that everytime I apply a ROM or am update that has a boot.img in it.

It was really frustrating for a while. It was the exact symptom you have described. I kept trying by flashing the kernel with fastboot, then flashing the ROM, and then flashing the kernel again with fastboot. It seemed that whenever I changed something, I had to use that sequence to get it to work again.

Wifi still no go using ICS. Is there a recommended radio version when using ICS ROMS?
Any stock GB Rom version wifi is ok. Using Bulletproof 1.1 works fine as well. Tried v0.9b WildchildICe and update4 of unofficial cm9 and still no wifi. Gonna stick with WildChildIce rom for now and try different Radio combinations.

When you flash, try mounting system and data in recovery prior to the flash. There used to be an error where wifi would hang as described if those were not mounted upon flashing. Couldn't hurt to try.

Try this. Go HERE. Go down to the 3rd post. Look for GanOptimizer & follow the instructions. No promises but sometimes that will lock it on in ICS.
