[Q] Should I buy HTC Desire or HTC Desire S - General Questions and Answers

HTC Desire or HTC Desire S?
Which one should i buy?Because in our country the HTC desire s is very expensive but i can still if it is worth the money
I like the HTC Desire S but the thing is the "The Death Grip" is a deal breaker for me.
Anyways is this a hardware problem or software problem?
While im worried as well with the HTC Desire's screen not Gorilla Glass is the screen on the desire durable from accidental drops?
Hope somebody can help me with this thanks

I voted for Desire, because:
-Physical buttons&trackpad
-~70€ cheaper
-huge development-section and many rom's
-If you're lucky, AMOLED-screen
Maybe the only thing that is better in Desire S is real multi-touch

I say Desire S
Bigger internal phone storage, 756 ram, HD recording, front camera....

Desire S or something else??

I'm going to buy a new HTC phone...I've been thinking of Desire S although it doesn't have sense 3.0 but available with custom roms. Is this a good choice. I thought about Sensation but its outta my budget. Any suggestions( must have a large screen and resolution with good sound quality). Pls suggest a good one.

I've seen deals online in the UK offering sensation on T-mobile at same price that you'll get the desire s for which was £25pm for 24m with no cost for phone.
so look around more, if you want big screen then Sensation might be for you , as desire s is mid sized screen which is why i own one.
I suggest that you go to a shop and decide which one of the two feels right in your hand/pocket.
I cannot stress enough, do not get a sensation. There is an epic problem with dust getting in under the screen. I do not usually take too much notice of things said on forum's as they are usually only a few people moaning about isolated cases, but this is different. I had one from three in the uk, it had dust, sent it back and the second one was worse. Also, sense 3.0 is laggy and unsmooth compared to 2.1, and in general it does not feel any quicker than the desire s. When i sent the second one back i got a desire s instead and it feels a much better product than the sensation. Smoother, better battery life and a nicer size too. Only thing i miss is the screen resolution of the sensation, but it's not that big an issue really 800x480 is hardly cramped!

No! There is an even better deal than that! I got mine from talkmobile for
£15 handset, £25 a month for a 1 year contract!!
I get 300mins, 1000 texts, 1gb data! It is a special tariff and will be expired soon.
I also get £46 quidco cashback and NHS 40% discount.
So for the handset and data plan, im paying just over £200!!!
What a deal!
Great phone, proud owner for about a month now and it functions great.
You do mention a big screen. The desire s is only 3.7" while most phones are 4-4.3". You might want to compare different sizes in a store.

I was looking for my first smartphone nearly 2 months. In terms of size i picked only the motorola defy and the htc desire s as an option. All the other phones are simply too big in my opinion. I´m glad i picked the classy desire s. ;-)
Only down fall to desire s would be slow aosp rom development

If you want a htc phone for development get a htc desire hd. If you don't want a screen that big get the incredible s. If that is still too big get the desire s

[Q]HTC sensation or HTC desire s??

OK guys my uncle wanted my advice on buying an HTC android more specifically between these 2, and I'm not so sure what to answer him as I have seen some bad reviews on sensation but nothing on desire s and also I know that sensation is dual core blah blah and better but what do u suggest?
Thx
I suggest the sensation, its faster, better camera that is full hd. And better resolution on the screen
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I also suggest sensation. It have better resolution, which is very important. And also my sensation don't have any issue. It works just perfectly. ( well, death grip is slightly noticeable, but I haven't got any problems with it. ).
So, go for sensation.

Well, the 3D effects are very underwhelming but as a whole the Sensation is a great device. I especially love the high pixel density for reading ebooks and webpages.
+ 1 for sensation

Why to get a Sensation?

Ok, as a current Desire user I'm getting more and more tempted to switch to a Sensation (and seeing as a lot of Desire devs are jumping ship to other devices).
Anyone care to give me some reasons for making the switch? I've had my trusty Desire for over 18 months but I'm getting itchy fingers to get something new? So...
Why get a Sensation?
Thanks.
I think that's a question for you to answer. Do you see any features in the Sensation that you want that are not available in the Desire?
If yes, are these features important enough for you to decide to switch phones?
If yes, switch. If no, don't.
Sensation is a good phone, but every phone has its quirks and every opinion is relative. Take all biased reviews and suggestions with several grains of salt. Good luck!

Desire has 768mb ram right? Frankly I don't see much benefit in upgrading. The ram makes more of a difference than the dual cores IMHO.

My glacier with the same amount of ram and oc to 1.3 runs faster than my sensation.

Because it looks great. Really. With a Casemate Tough case (which are fantastic) it feels really sturdy.
I would wait until the nexus comes out before deciding, that way you won't be kick yourself later when u realize u like it better than the Sensation.
The reason I love the Sensation is because of the resolution and speed. And it works the way I want it to.

nope. Desire has 576mb
the newer htc models have 768mb.
I would upgrade, especially as you can get a Sensation XE (newer + better) with a contract for a total of:
£252!
heck of a deal, i'd say

OK. Thanks for the views guys. I'm still a bit up in the air about it, but I'm guessing the extra RAM does make a difference.
Cheers.

I had the desire before I recently upgraded to the sensation. I've had the sensation for 6 weeks now.
Reasons to upgrade:
Larger screen 4.3 inches
Dual core processor
768mb of ram
1gb of app memory
Sense 3.0 interface
8 megapixel camera with dual led flash
1080p video recording
Noise canceling mic for phone calls
Up to 14.4 Mbps download speeds
Front facing camera for video calls

In my opinion, yes.
My Vibrant always ran slower than my glacier, even when both have identical cm7 setups and oc. Ram was the missing link.
My glacier with oc runs better than sensation without, even though the glacier is only a single core.
Both glacier and sensation have 768mb ram.

I upgraded to sensation because the physical buttons on my desire started to get loose and weren't responsive. Very happy with it so far, mostly notice the much bigger screen (like a pocket tablet) and sense 3.0. Build quality is very sturdy and design is beautiful/minimal, exactly what I was looking for. I would highly recommend it if you have the cash.

Exactly the reason why I upgrade my desire to sensation... less the front camera which is kind of... crappy imo

Totally agree but I guess at least it has some sort of front camera.
wait.
my advice is to wait if you can. The Sensation is limited. Its good for now, but with Ice cream sandwich coming soon HTC is going to put the Sensation and the Amaze in its rear view (if you are a T-mo customer). I was going to get the Amaze in march, but what is the point? Even the XE is a gimmick.
You don't want to wait for HTC to hand out the ICS upgrades either. Besides, the industry standard 1 gig RAM is not in the sensation and the internal storage is poor. There will be a phone that is up to par (with ICS) from HTC by April.

Droid Razr vs. HTC Sensation?

Hi guys and girls!
I would like to know from you which you think is the better phone and which one you would chose if you could pick.
The options are the Droid Razr (XT910) and the HTC Sensation (z710e).
So I need to you to tell me what phone you think is best overall: development, camera, screen, memory etc.
P.S
Thank you and no bias answers! :fingers-crossed:

I guesa if u want battery life and extra memory go for the droid razr but if u want a great camera phone go for the htc sensation although it doesn't have 1gb of ram it goes head to head with its successor htc amaze i have both and tested them 1on 1 and cameras on htc happen to be the best so depends on what u want battery and extra memory pick razr if u r like me and love taking pics and will buy extra battery go for htc sensation
