[Q] Back to stock? - HTC Inspire 4G

Good evening,
I'm trying to return my HTC inspire back to it's original condition. I want the rom I had before I attempted ace's hack kit. (I wasn't pleased with Cyanogenmod). I followed the steps on how to return the device to stock through the hack-kit. But I'm having an issue with finding the appropriate rom. I can't even find a RUU to snag the rom from. Please help with links.

I just Googled Inspire stock ruu and found it in less than 10 seconds.

Thanks four-fifty for the link.
Are you sure what you found actually links somewhere?
Because after an hour of googling, I was still unable to find a reliable link.

You need to read mudknot's stickied guide front to back several times. The best advice anyone can give you on it is read, read, read, and read some more. The process is not complicated, but is not easy by no means. It will happen if you read, be patient, don't rush, and follow the steps precisely.

There are two methods on how to root....there is the (Hack Kit)... And the (simple one click ) by bubby... I used the one click method... But read read read...

Read read read. Do more research, have a drink to calm the nerves, then use bubby's one click. Works perfectly! Then after that flash the Ninja rom in my sig.

Everyone is correct. Reading first will help things go a lot smoother. I would recommend attn1 hack kit. You have a lot of roms to choose from. Just take your time. If you really get stuck or don't understand then ask.
I agree. Read and one click
Oh thanks I rooted super easy ...what's the custom Rom that's is close to stock in look and feel

Root password?
Im trying to follow the Ace Hack Kit (v11), but when I try to run the hack-ace.sh code, it asks me for the root password, which I don't know and can;t find anywhere online. I feel like an idiot for asking, but what is it? Ive been searching for hours.
Im running OS X 10.6.6, and the phone is Kernel version 2.6.32.21-g6a5ff14 [email protected] #1, if that helps at all.
Im new to rooting, Ive been a Jailbreaker until I just switched to Android. I understand everything in the hack guide, just cant get past the simplest step it feels like. Someone help me out?
And sorry for putting this on someone else's thread... it wouldnt let me post an original for some reason.

Lol. Man the keyboard really had it in for you on that one.
I like "blowy" though. It's a refreshing change.
I have had two inspires and on my first one I used Bubby's rooting program only because it did not require the use of command prompt as much as the Hack kit did at the time, but on my second inspire I used the hack kit because that has truly been turned into a fool proof way of rooting and it seem's that bubby has abandoned his rooting program because it has not been updated for sometime. The hack kit does it all for you all you have to do is tell it what you want done by entering either a 1,2 or a 3 and it does the rest.
As for rom's I use the Coredroid because it is closer to the HTC stock sense and Surgio keeps up on the updates and the bugs also.
I'm on my first Android with the Inspire and rooted a few days ago using the hack kit... it was very simple and all went well. I've gone through a few roms already, probably didn't give each enough time but wanted to find something I liked and now ended up with GingerBeast. There is a problem with GPS though with Gingerbread but if you look for gingerbread gps fix it can be taken care of easily.
You should give each rom at least a week to see how it works, there is a wierd thing with rom's they need a couple of days to settle in to the phone and to see how the battery and everything else work with that certain rom, that is why I have chosen one rom and have stuck with it through two inspires, I have found coredroid to be the best rom for my purposes and none other fit the bill.
I am also new to Rooting of my inspire, but not a noob to android by anymeans. I searched and searched through and through the thread with the simple one click root. I understand what it is that i need to do.
But for the life of me, i cannot get the simple one click root application to download and install on my computer. I have my antivirus and all off, firewall turned off. I download the file, it starts extracting and unziping. Then it goes to installation. The green bar at the bottom gets up to about 90% full, then the entire screen just closes by itself and thats it.
Restarted my computer 4 times and tried it again 4 times last night with the same results. SO i guess my question is not going to be how to root, i think i got a grasp on that one, but can someone point me in the direction of a different link for the one click app or lend some advice of how i can get it installed.

I had the same problem with my old XP laptop. I studied for a month, was sure I had my PC set up correctly. And Bubby's just would not run on my PC. Ended up using the hack kit which worked. One thing they do say to make sure you have the latest .FrameworkNet and Java consoles installed, for something to check.
Thanks for the response. It is appreciated. I did do those updates amd still no luck. Guess its the hack kit for me.

Stock inspire Software info

He headset speaker has blown on my Inspire and i need to call in to the warranty department. I am sure they are going to make me jump through some hoops before sending me my new inspire. I am on virtuous rom now and my specs won't match their's. Can anyone please post me the stock software info? Baseband, kernel, software number and any other info that they may ask about. Thanks.
PS. What's the best way to revert my phone to stock? There is a new PD98IMG in the development section it didn't seem to go well for the first tester... I don't want another brick. Thanks to everyone for the help.

How can I root?

I have the HTC Inspire running stock 2.3.3
I have searched, and tried everything, but nothing is working. I have tried both methods available though ace-hack-kit-v12.3. I have also tried Bubby's one click GUI, as well as simple one click, super one click, and gingerbreak for good measure, and yet nothing seems to work.
ace hack kit works
Ace hack kit doesn't achieve downgrade, it hangs at sending zip file, and then on the alternate root meathod it reboots without downgrading.

If you're using 12.3 and downgrade method two, there is a small typo in the script. There was a new version of the script posted that should get you back in business. You need to just download the new script and put it in the folder where the original was.
The below one worked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352
I had the same problem as you allenrb2. I ran the Ace Hack Kit v12.3 and it would just freeze on step 2 when it is trying to install the zip file. To solve this problem, I just went on my other computer and ran the Ace Hack Kit from there. It went just fine no hanging at that zip file in step 2. So maybe doing it on a different computer will work for you, like it did for me.

The best radio is the one that works the best for you. Everyone has different experiences with radios depending on device, ROM, location. Best things to do. One go to the inspire radio thread and read what people have been using and experiment...flash a season and give it a couple days to see how it does then change if need be. OR secondly I would see if my ROM has a separate Q and A thread and go there for suggestions.

Thanks for the help guys, I flashed a radio, so I guess now I just give it a couple days to see if its all gravy now. I appreciate yous guys taking the time to help this noob out.
I recently switched from the Samsung Captivate, and everything seemed a lot easier with that phone.

Here you go, make sure and read the instruction.

Like he said, read and then read some more. Make sure you flash the correct roms, no O2x roms!

Thanks, I noticed that forum as well. However, the link for NvFlasher seems to be dead. Was hoping to find alt. link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054492
Link there works.
Also, if you're looking to run the stock ROM, only then do you need to root (so to speak) otherwise all the custom ROMs out there are already rooted so if you want to run a custom ROM all you need to do is make a back up of your stock ROM via Clockwork Mod>factory rest (wipe data)>wipe dalvik>flash new ROM enjoy the awesomeness (or suck if you don't like the ROM)

If you are trying to download with your phone run over to the android market and get "Download all files". I had trouble downloading with the stock browser and this fixed my issue.
Welcome to XDA, I know ur new but it would be better if u searched more. Not trying to be an ass just trying to help u out so people don't get on ur back in the future. Welcome

Stock Rom

Hello everyone,
I am looking for a stock rom for T-Mobile USA. I couldn't find one when I searched. The only one I found was this one right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648526. It doesn't seem to work on T-Mobile though. I was wondering if anyone has a backup up their phone. I lost mine that I had yesterday when my memory card started showing up and I had to wipe it to get it to work.
You have a few options, grab the TMOUS RUU from first post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543588
[ROM]Ville/VilleC2 Shipped ROM Collection
Or search the forums for "1.84 nandroid" there has been at least one posted a while back. Or try a nice custom ROM there are a few stock-feeling ones with Sense and wifi calling and the 4G icon, btw there is a newer release of the modaco rom you linked called LR3. Good luck
Thank you, I will have to try that out.
