[Q] Best Battery App?? - General Questions and Answers

Is there an app that will tell me my battery usage for a certain app without having to monitor the cpu and network and all that then figure out all the math. Im looking for something really simple that will lay it all out for me so I can see whats going on at just a glance. Thanks

[Q] Is Overclocking Bad???

Hey people i was wondering if overclocking the inspire is bad. what will happen? other than battery drain and heating. can it overheat?
EDIT: another, unrelated question: is there an app to make widgets and apps just go where you want them to be put, without a grid?

does anyone else use setcpu on the g2x

in the pursuit of an everlasting battery, i installed setcpu on my phone yesterday-- i set it to a max of 400 when the screen is off, 800 when overheating, 700 when at 75% of battery, 500 when at 50%, normal when ac charing and 70% when usb charging (so i can hopefully charge faster in the car).
i havent been an android user for awhile and dont know if setcpu is one of those programs that use more battery than it saves i.e. "bloated". also, i know it sort of defeats the purpose of the dual core to underclock, but i'm going to be honest, i'm an iming, texting, browsing, sync two emails, words with friends, shopkick kind of gal...
ewww Words with Friends. WordFeud FTW!
I have never messed with SetCPU aside on my Android tablet because it had a problem sleeping. I can say that it did wonders for my tablet, I can't see why it wouldn't be the same in this case.
I don't know if I would set it to vary the speeds based on the battery readings. My tablet I had the CPU set to like "72mhz" when the screen was off and On Demand when the screen was on.
I also used Advanced Task Killer to kill all tasks when the screen was shut off because my son was launching games and leaving them run in the background. Between the two, the unit was like a whole other unit. That might be overkill but if you are worried about saving battery, might as well kill all those background apps too. Wouldn't hurt to test it. My biggest concern would be your Email Sync and IMing.
So in Advanced Task Killer, just have it ignore said apps and kill everything else.
yes i have am using it on my G2X i only have a screen off profile which is set at 216-312. I dont really want to lose speed just because my battery is low and while charging the phone doesn't heat up like my N1 did so i don't see a need for a profile there. It does work and it does work well.

I always set my screen off profile to 216/216 with the conservative or power save governor priority 100.

do you experience any lag when you turn the screen back on?
for some reason, when i select nvidia as my device, the governor drop down is greyed out-- how did you change the governor?

hey! theres nothing wrong with wwf.. :]
i froze many bloat apps with titanium, and games too since i'm not much of a gamer :/ yeah, iw as thinking of taking off the syncing and iming, but i get very aggressive and could see myself dumbing down my smartphone for the sake of the battery.
with setcpu the way i described, i have noticed a loss of 5.5% an hour with normal use during the workday-- which is when i need to save my battery since i cant charge at work... i think i can live with 6% an hour... maybe.
but i did like underclocking for certain temperatures, because for some reason the phone is feeling hot in my pocket and has temps of about 91
Advanced task killer? Why am I hearing it's bad for your phone? Even when I installed it, I was losing a lot, even with Juice defender I'm losing a lot. I hardly have any apps, and I'm afraid to use my phone because of my battery.
Anyone know what I can do?
Once undervolted kernels start rolling out, battery life should improve marginally.

I use both and they help. Only use task killer manually.

[Q] SetCPU and Battery Life

So I recently downloaded SetCPU for my HTC Vivid and I was playing around with it. I was wondering what you guys think about using it for battery savings? Any specific profiles you guys use that work great? I'm trying to prolong the battery life of my device. Flashing a new ROM has helped a lot, but I want to squeeze as much as I can out of it. Is SetCPU really worth using for battery savings or will the extra processing it does to change around the speed cause it to not help me that much?

[Q] How to control battery temperature

I'm currently running ShareDroid (4.4.2) on my on my One X and have noticed a serious issue with the battery temperature, particularly with running a particular app. When running normal apps I have noticed temperatures get up to between 95F and 100F depending on my usage. However, when IU am on the app Ingress, the battery easily can get to 120-125F+. That's when I'm usually shutting things down. I really would like to get a better handle of controlling these temperatures. Is this a situation of changing my OC and UV settings or could it be something else?
Appreciate the help guys.
You can't really control the temperature of the battery on an app that's as resource intensive as Ingress.

An App to see what apps cause high CPU usage?

I know about cpuspy, better battery stats and apps like it. They allow you to see how long your cpu has been running at different speeds. My question is there any app that tells you exactly what App/process cause the cpu to go to a particular(highest speed). Getting really good battery life on the LG G2 and think I can make it better by using Per App Modes to tune down the CPU speed in apps that use the most power.
