Hi All,
I bought a HTC Fuze last year that was locked and branded to AT&T, I'm in Canada and my friend who owns the cell phone shop that sold it to me unlocked it and unbranded it for a fee. So it was unlocked which I hear At&T does for free and unbranded to make it think it was a HTC Touch Pro. I love technology and so I played around with it everyday. Now it's gotten a bit laggy and I played around with a program called Advanced Config. I want to do a Hard Reset but reading the service manual for the HTC Raphael, there should be a message that says something about the going back to manufacturer's default. My Question is will this delete the unlocking code and unbranding Rom or should they stay in one peace, and if they are deleted can you guys help me do the same thing again.
Thanks
Hamza
Hard reset will not undo unlocking. Unlocking is something more on the firmware level and a hard rest only clears your user data. Wouldn't affect the ROM either.

Good luck,
hi everyone, can anybody help in my quest to unlock my htc wildfire, its locked to vodafone am havin problems gettin hold of unlock codes!!would be most grateful for any help, thanks.
I thought Vodafone unlocked phones for free or is it an unlock code issue?
I would go into voda and ask if they unlock for free cause i had (take that into effect) Had a vodafone mobile and they did have a website to unlock...
I've had alot of problems unlocking my HTC Wildfire on vodafone, wish I had just paid the extra to get a sim free one.
I had problems with alot of websites, not refunding money.
I'm currently waiting on HTCCODE to supply mine.
Ive spoken to customer support and they have the code for my mobile, but it cost a little more, but tbh if/when I get it, i'll be glad, vodafone are a crap company and I wish I had never given them my money.
They won't do it for free, if you are on Paygo, if you are contract, it should be unlocked or its free unlocking otherwise there's an "admin" charge of like 20 pounds, but i'd rather pay 23pounds to another website, rather than give vodafone any more of my money..
Good luck.
Thanks for sharing...............................
Its possible to unlock your HTC mobile using the codes. There are many providers offer this unlocking service. If you wanna code, get it from your network provider.
Once you get the code, you may follow the instructions from http://www.mobileunlockguide.com/ .It helps to unlock your htc mobile easily.
Is it possible to unlock these phones, does it just ask for a code or how is it done, would like to know, do any of the phones come factory unlocked.
Yes it's possible to unlock the phones.
What phone are you looking at for unlocking?
Phones to unlock
I wanna either get a htc surround or a Lg quantum. I will pick one up Monday when they come out just nor sure which one yet.
I'm not sure weather they will come unlocked but I can only speak for the UK, the HTC HD7 was locked to o2 as were other phones on respective networks (orange etc).
You CAN get unlock codes though, I managed to. You might have to wait a few days after purchase (I had to wait 5 days) as the phones are that new the IMEI numbers aren't in any databases yet. Not sure if this would apply to the US though as the phones have been around for a bit now elsewhere.
For the omnia 7, direct unlock here:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828503
HTC surround isn't doing so well in terms of reviews and what not. I'd reconsider that.
Lg quantum
I think i will go for the lg instead as i want the full keyboard, where can i find someone to unlock these win7 phones.

First of all decide where you are buying your phones from. Some of the providers like O2 do not lock their devices.
For the other devices which come locked there are quite a lot of sites which gives you the unlock code within minutes or max 1 day.
Also you can check how much your provider is charging to unlock the device. Usually the charge between your provider and the ones outside is not that huge and if that is the case it is always better to get it unlocked from your provider.

My carrier that actually has win 7 phones wont give you an unlock code for 30 days and want 75 bucks after that, so im looking for an aftermarket company to unlock the lg quantum on bell in canada and also unlock a rogers samsung focus on rogers.
you guys
i'm concerned about this unlocking business. if an iphone comes originally unlocked there's of course 0 problem, but if the simlock gets removed using some software or code and the phone gets its software updated, the simlock comes right back. i know there weren't any wp7 updates yet, but do you think this situation also concerns wp7 devices?

u r talking about jail breaking here not sim unlocking.
Once you sim unlock your phone the only advantage is you can use the SIM of any carrier in it and no future updates would be locking it back.
The scenario you told would only come if you find a way to modify the reg settings to use the phone as a usb storage or something like that. in this case once you update ur phone with a wp 7 update ur hack would stop working till u find and tweak ur registry settings again

thanks for replying, but i actually was talking about sim unlocking. i heard that if the iphone is originally locked to some carrier e.g. at&t, the simlock gets removed using a code or software and the phone gets an update, the simlock returns. i was wondering whether this scenario concerns wp7. either way, it's always best to buy a phone that's originally sim unlocked (more expensive...)

The phones are initially prepared unlocked from the manufacturers like HTC. Carriers like orange than orders phones for them which they ask to be locked to Orange SIMS. There would be an unlock code to enable the handset to accept all the SIM's as the handset was made like that. If you contact your carrier like Orange they would in turn contact HTC and get the unlock code from them. If you contact any third party from the web they calculate this unlock code and msg or mail you (God knows how... Quite a lot of people have asked in XDA and there is no reply to this other than silence)
So if you SIM unlock your phone it is done. All your future updates for the OS would be done via zune and there is no way your handset would get locked again..
Hope everything is clear....
thank you, all is clear now
Successful unlock codes
Hi guys,
Just want to let you know that my Focus finally arrived this Monday, as soon as I got it I sent the IMEI and payed to the ebay guy nckzone, this seller is amazing, in 2 hours he sent me the unlock code to my paypal email address, the code worked just great.
The next day (Tuesday), my girlfriend's HTC Surround arrived and so I proceed to ask him if he also unlocks HTC Surround (this is because we live in Costa Rica and ICE's network is lock because of AT&T's policies), and he told me he can do those as well, so I payed and in 30 minutes he replied with the code. Great service for real...
If somebody needs to buy unlock codes for WP7, I think this guy can. The link of the auction is this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Unlock-Samsung-Focus-i917-Omnia7-Galaxy-Tab-CODE-/140482107888?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20b562d9f0#ht_2581wt_1139

Damn. Man! My Focus will arrive in just a few days. I had to have it shipped. I really hope his magic will work on mine as well. Although I really hate AT&T for forcing Samsung to lockdown on the unlock codes for the US-released Focus. It's not like they're the only Telecom company that matters.
Well, enough trolling. =)) Thanks for the heads up.

Hello, I come from Italy and I got a Nokia Lumia 710 sim-lock on Orange
I wanted to know if there is any way to sim-unlock my lumia 710
If I flash the lumia whit the custom rom + interop will it become sim free?
I read on forum that some people suggest to call the Orange company for unlock it.
The telephone come from Austria and I don't get the orange sim card, so I tryed to contact Orange- AU for the unlock and they reply me:
"Dear Mr. xx,
thank you for your reply.
We could not find the given IMEI 3593xxxxxxxxxxxxx in our system.
Please contact the seller to find a solution for your issue.
Thank you for your understanding."
I try to call Orange UK also and that's their reply:
"Dear O2 Customer,
Thank you for your unlatching request.
Sorry, We are unable to process your request as the IMEI given on the
form has not been used on O2 network."
Flashing a rom or interop unlock will not remove the sim lock.
There are websites that offer sim-unlocking for small fee. Just google sim unlock lumia 610 etc.
>>But before you pay any money for the service, search for reviews about that particular site and confirm that it is legit<<
Also I notised you said the phone is from Austria, correct?
But you stated you emailed Orange AU. Isnt AU = AUSTRALIA, not AUSTRIA?

Yea, sorry I type it wrong... The one who sold me the telephone told me that the device has a Simlock Orange in Austria... so it's Orange AT the one I emailed
Then I guess paying would be the easiest.
I dont think it costs that much, 20 eur or so (havent looked at the prices in a long time).
Do a google search on what offers there are, then when you find one you like (site looks professional, price etc), do another google search to find people who have used the site with success. If a site is legit you should be able to find boards, like xda, where people recommend it. Most likely you can find people recomending sites here on xda, if so, go and see do they offer the service to Lumia's.
Also I think I saw Lumia unlocks on eBay too if Im not totally wrong (my mind could be playing tricks here), but check that too. If I dont remember wrong I saw it for 10usd or something. There you should get buyer protection and you could also check for feedback.

the reason no one is getting unlock codes from the suppliers mentioned for lumia on orange or tmobile uk is because the lumia is actually locked to a new hybrid orange/tmobile mcc+mnc network.
phones locked to this network are not locked to tmobile or orange, they are actually locked to both networks, try both sims and you will see for yourself, that the phone will take sims from both networks, but not any other.
T-Mobile and Orange UK have merged recently.
They have started locking newer NOKIA handsets to a new MERGED network MNC+MCC
NEW T-Mobile / Orange UK Merge Lock uses MNC+MCC = 2343300190233141
Older Standard Orange UK uses MNC+MCC = 2343300000000000
Older Standard T-Mobile UK uses MNC+MCC = 2343000000000000

Known models with hybrid lock
Nokia Lumia 700 locked to UK Orange or UK T-Mobile
Nokia Lumia 710 locked to UK Orange or UK T-Mobile

Nothing compared to the official Orange AT unlock, they want ~200 Euros from you... ripoff.
I'm considering buying a cheap 710 with A1 (also Austria) SIM lock, and I'd be interested in a method as well. Besides bringing it to a shop.

Cheers bud, i just tried this and it worked a treat
I highly recommend an ebay firm unlockfusion. I have had them unlock a few units for me and family. Last one was $2 and had the unlock code with minutes - the longest I've waited is 1 hour in the middle of the night.
Pay with paypal. They send an email with a login to their web site. Leave the details and a few minutes later they email you the unlock code. What more, I have had no further spam email from them at all.
(I'm not at all connected to them, but their service is unbeatable for a couple of bucks)
Hello there!
As this phone doesn't really have its own dedicated area in the forum , i just felt this is the right place to ask for help.
I own this device which was bought on contract from orange romania , and unfortunately it is sim locked.
I have contacted htc regarding this issue and they checked my IMEI but they said that my phone doesn't appear to be locked nor branded by any carrier. In other words , this phone has got a lock on it , but it wasn't htc that put it there, but orange romania.
Do you know any way to unlock it? I would go into a service store but it's hard to find somebody that is capable of unlocking my phone, i have already tried 3 stores in my area and all of them returned a negative result.
I live in italy so i can't go back to orange and ask them to unlock my phone. Even so, if you're still on contract , they charge you 100€ to unlock your device, which is absolutely insane , my phone costs NEW , UNLOCKED 130 € on ebay.
Therefore , any thoughts? I'm willing to test some stuff if you have any idea. Of course , i wouldn't want to brick my phone as i really doubt i can find someone to unbrick it around here, but anyway , i'm open to new ideas.
Thanks in advance!
