I was just curious about the review on the video cam for the g2x. I used it a couple times in comparison to the evo. First thing is the 30 minute limit on recording.....is there anything u can do about turning that off? Also on the evo the lighting exposure seems to be a lot better......under the regular camera u can change the exposure and it seems to adjust exactly what I am talking about.....but when u switch over to video there is no exposure setting. Kinda frustrated because 1080p video was definitely one of the highlights for this phone!

Lol I can't be the only one disappointed in the video lighting or time limit
G2X.......Nuff said!
anybody know of a video camera app that allows more customization??
if you need more than a half hour of recording time, you should probably invest in a real video camera... just saying
yo homeboi above me's right . . . i remember back in the day i couldn't record more than like 10 seconds be happy with what u got instead of looking at what you don't .. and if you're trying to make a movie ur going to need more than 8 mp just saying

Take into consideration that no one making a movie ever records a 30 min clip. Its always a bunch of short clips strung together

I was wondering if there is a app or someone can make the screen get bright right before you take a pic with the front camera kinda how there is a "flashlight" app for phones that dont have a led light and use the screen brightness just wondering if this would work for night time pics
searched around could not find anything on this at all so sorry if it was answered
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
i doubt it will work since it is facing you and not the real camera
Well what i was thinking is you take a pic of yourself with the front camera that the screen will get bright white kinda like a flash but just making it as bright white the screen can get for a second to see yourself better at night

I agree. That's very similar to my Mac desktop. The screen flashes right before it takes a self portrait. I bet an app can be created, but the issue might be auto focus. The front cam isn't all that great with auto focus so when the screen flash it might show a white blur.

On my nexus s it does not focus with the front camera justs takes the pic as is, is it suppose to autofocus? Im on nightly #31

These seems like such an oddball feature that I can't think of any reason it would exist for any phone... Why would you want the unit to auto-snap a picture when it reached 10% battery?

i did not read the OP correctly that is weird. What i was wondering is, is there a way around being able to take pictures when your battery level is low. Such as at 10% or below the camera does not let us TAKE pictures at all which is kind of crappy IMO. anyone can help with that would be great.

Yeah use the power button to take the pic and also to let us take pictures and use our music players and camera under ten percent battery it is like that on all galaxy s roms I would do it but I'm to inexperienced just looking for some help. Poor grammar strikes again.
The OP is asking for a Camera that operates under low battery conditions, and can take pictures with the power button in addition to the on screen button.
Gotta admit, I was scratching my head on this one. Seems like these could be useful features. But it also seems like at that low of battery percentage one might also want to conserve power?

You can conserve power by.... not using the Camera app? Rather than having it forced on you.
Let me rephrase this I'm not looking to conserve I want to be able to use my camera and musicplayer under ten percent battery and use my power to take a picture

Ok so i rooted my phone and when i installed a rom every time my screen turns on it shows a bit of static right before it completely turns on this happens on all the romes i try except bionix reloaded for some reason,if anyone can help me outt please do
My Problem Still Exists with All CM7 Based Roms i just hope it wont happen on ICS I found a great rom That does not have this problem with my phone
I think i will keep the Tsugi Rom Because i Really like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC8HqBrinBA
at 3 minutes i turn the screen on with no static on Bionix
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YICwp5R_wbM&feature=youtu.be
on MIUI,At the end its in slow motion so you can see
Static? You'd have to try getting a video of it for up to see. Don't know what could be your problem.
Are you talking about a line through the middle of the screen and then you get a full screen? If so that is the "turn on screen animation." Not all roms have this turn on or in them at all. I have never seen or heard of a LCD screen having static. Plus if it was static it would have been on the stock rom and the bionic rom as well

If you are doing reviews and stuff you should probably know what you are talking about. That's the turn off animation @3:00 minutes into the video.

Are you using the stock kernels with the other roms. If so are you using a app for over/under clocking. Are you using a app for a lock screen. These could be the issue. It looks like it is taking a second to load something.

Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Okay just saw it I see it now. I haven't ever seen that, maybe set the crt animation for power on and see what happens. The only thing I've seen is the screen turn on with no real image just the blacked out screen then after the picture shows up. I can see why'd that could get annoying to some though. Maybe try a different kernel, or mess with voltages if you have SETCPU.

Has anyone experienced any issues with playback? it's not laggy but slows down at one point (about 2 seconds of video) then speeds up to catch up. It's not too obvious, my sister didn't even notice it. I've also tried playing back recorded videos and streaming movies from the browser with no issues. I've also tried uninstalling updates and reinstalling YouTube app..with no success. Hopefully someone can help, or maybe I should try one of these new roms...hmm?

This is my only issue with this phone; everything works great except youtube playback. The lagging then catching up is really noticeable and distracting. I thought it was my network connection for the longest time, I'm so glad it's not just me. It's kind of ridiculous, this device should be able to handle a simple youtube video. I'm glad I know now at least I didn't get a defective phone. Hopefully someone somewhere will be able to come up with a fix/mod for this. I never would of purchased this phone if I knew I couldn't properly watch a youtube video. :/

Don't have this problem either. Even when playing HQ. If it slows down than it's the data, not playback quality. I do notice that this stock ROM is slower with download speeds. My G2x is faster when downloading content and it's only 14 Megabits per second, theoretically.

Ah, never mind! I now understand. I noticed it when I selected to play a different time duration of the video. It slows down, and catches up. I thought you meant that you noticed it during the beginning of the video. For me it only happens when you skim to a different part of the video. I also compared it using Google Chrome on my PC, and there is definitely a difference.

So im thinking about getting a nexus 5 but I want to know if the autofocus issue was ever fixed?? I love taking photos and videos but if the autofocus makes the camera not really useable in a lot of circumstances then I probably wont get it. Tried to find another thread to see if this problem was corrected by developers via a rom or a flash or if it is hardware related.
I have never had an issue. And I take plenty of photos.

+1 for photos. Not for video though. The autofocus is terrible in videos. It's constantly focusing every 2-3 seconds and it makes the video look really odd.
To OP: No, it hasn't been fixed.

Notice the "pulsing" every 2-3 seconds? That's what I mean. If yours doesn't have that, that's good, but most of us have that problem. I guess it's only noticeable when you don't move the camera.
So based that it is feburary, I'm assuming this is a hardware issue. The video breathing problem is ridiculous and also happens on the Nexus 5. That's my concern. If it has been solved in a rom, then perfect, but if this problem is unfixable then thats a dealbreaker for me. I do alot of videos with my phone and I dont want to pay for a $600 phone if I cant do something basic as record videos on it.

If you are that interested in videos, you should consider in investing an actual video camera. Phones aren't really meant to meet the standards of camcorders and other video capture devices, rather than to just catch an interesting moment of someones live with a casual photo/video. I know it sounds rather inconvenient and superficial, but thats just my two cents on the subject.
Edit: I've never had trouble with the breathing video. But then again I don't really use that option that much.
I can't reproduce the refocus whilst holding it still / panning left or right. I can only reproduce it if I move the lens further or nearer to the object. Not a tiny amount that's analogous with a slight wobble or the human conditions rather feeble attempt at stillness - no. I have to almost exaggerate the movement to trigger autofocus
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
for me it refocuses evety time i move the phone, left/right, up/down, or further/closer. but it doesnt refocus at all when im moving.
not to be graphic but I filmed a video of some dirty deeds and quality was awesome. phone was not moving. I believe some roms have more issues then others. some roms the video is extremely dark and some roms when I take a camera picture with flash is snaps the photo to fast and just captures the flash.
